I came here for what should've been a great get together for a family anniversary. But now the only anniversary I'm looking forward to is when I go a whole day without diarrhoea. My family have all been horribly ill (I don't even like some of the adults but the kids didn't deserve it) from the food we had here which was even the first time it travelled through my throat, bang average. They still haven't refunded us the money either which really rubs salt in the wound (salt because they had no English mustard to go with their roast beef). Hopefully the food standards agency teaches their kitchen staff how to wash their hands. I'd avoid for a few months until this is sorted.

Booked for a large family meal. The food itself appeared average, with soggy vegetables, stodgy potatoes and the kids chicken pieces were hard enough to break glass with. Most were left untouched. Within hours of leaving, almost the entire group came down with a horrendous bout of vomiting and diarrhea including young children who have had to stay off school for several days. The management have been lax and poor in their response, only referring themselves to Environmental Health as it was made clear we would if they didn't. However they have not refunded any money yet for what is clearly their fault. Avoid avoid avoid. If you've booked for a Christmas party then I'd strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

Keeping this short and sweet because, based on the previous replies from the owner, he likes to criticise the reviews rather than dealing directly with the issues. Unfortunately our entire party of diners have had food poisoning following our meal at the Hop Pole Inn at the weekend. We all came down with the same symptoms (diarrhoea) within 12hours of eating our roast dinners, including adults and young children who had to leave school. We’ve had to chase the management for a response, and his suggestion that we all simultaneously caught norovirus is dismissive of the real issue of food poisoning. (The few children who didn’t eat a roast have not been unwell). We enjoyed our visit at the time and the staff member looking after us was lovely, but I would be very reluctant to return or recommend this venue for another meal following how poorly we’ve all been.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Recently we had a family meal at the Hop Pole, lovely location and lovely atmosphere. Food was average but you often find this at at pubs like this. Unfortunately, every single member of our family suffered with severe Diarrhoea and Vomiting following our meal. Severe to the point family members have had to collect their children from school after huge, humiliating and painful diarrhoea accidents. The management have tried to play down our symptoms and are currently refusing a refund. As a healthcare professional I know the symptom’s of food poisoning and it is ESSENTIAL that this kitchen is CLOSED DOWN until it has been formally investigated. We have referred to the Food Standards Agency. Other family members have posted reviews and they have been deleted. Do not be fooled.

Sadly, another pub in Bewdley that's been changing hands a lot and it seems that it just doesn't get any better. The food in fact is worse now than it used to be and the food had always been it's saving grace. The mash wasn't creamy as stated on the menu, it was hard and gloopy. The steak wasn't a rib eye. It was thin and overcooked. On top of that, the table was grimy so that your skin stuck to it like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The young woman serving us was inattentive and clearly couldn't wait for the end of her shift. There was a lot of eye rolling and sulking. It's such a shame as it is a nice place and deserves some real attention. We keep visiting as we want to support local businesses but we won't be rushing back. The layout doesn't help either and maybe something to address to make it cosier. All in all not a great experience. We wish for someone to take it on and transform it into a lovely country pub that it could and should be.

We came here for a meal to celebrate a family birthday. There was something on the menu to please everyone, including our fussy six year old. Portion sizes were spot on and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, even when busy; getting the balance between making sure we were attended to and leaving us to enjoy our meal just right. We would definitely recommend and will be coming back again to try more from the menu!

There are just some pubs and restaurants where you know that the food is cooked fresh to order, uses fresh produce, and changes the menu with the seasons... And the Hop Pole Inn is a shining example! My mum lives just down the road from the pub so I take her for lunch every few weeks. Every time we're greeted and given a nice table. The meals are all well prepared, full of flavour, and absolutely worth every penny.

Popped in for food after hearing and reading some great reviews. Our meals were fantastic, probably the best burgers we've ever had!! And the cheesecake was out of this world good!! We were both expecting the place to be busier, and when we got our bill we can understand why it wasn't. I had to pay £6.10 for a pint of lager! I can walk 2 minutes up the road and get the same pint for £5! We questioned the staff about the price, apparently there's nothing they can do as the prices are set by the brewery. Seems such a shame as everything else was spot on. This place could be fantastic if they can sort the beer prices out!

We found this little gem a few weeks ago and I meant to leave a review then as the food was outstanding. I had a perfectly cooked piece of sea bass on a wonderfully abundant fish risotto and my partner had a good old fashioned pie, stuffed as full as it could be with tender beef. We vowed to return on ‘burger night’ as it seems harder and harder to find a decent burger these days without breaking the bank. Look no further! Genuinely the best home made burger Ive ever had, perfectly seasoned and cooked. I have given 5 stars as this place is a rare find and we will be frequent visitors but hope that they continue to grow as a business to enable them to expand their team, the existing team are all perfect hosts!

Great little pub! The food was pretty good. As we were a large group who pre ordered, I was a little disappointed with the length of time in serving us all. (The people first served on both tables had finished eating their dinner by the time the last people on the table finally got their meals!) I also found the prices quite high. In an equivalent local restaurant: I would get a chicken burger, including chips and a small side salad, for the same price I paid for the chicken burger. I had to order fries as an addition. Staff were pleasant but very busy, as we were a large party.

WELCOME TO BEWDLEY! I am 80 and suffer from multiple serious issues. My wife, aged 78, has Parkinson's. As the weather was warm, our son suggested going to a pub for a soft drink and light lunch to cheer us up. We plumped for The Hop Pole in Bewdley. We had never been there before; we will never go again. My son parked on the car park at the side of the pub which is on a hill. Trouble ahead: There is a flight of shallow steps to cope with. Eventually, we reached 'the summit'. We wanted to sit outside in the sun and noted the seating consisted of wide benches and tables. We find having no back support uncomfortable, likewise hard wooden seating. Our son went into the pub to ask for a cushion. They said they they had none. What? Every pub - indeed every house - has cushions! So we decided to find a more welcoming venue - and one sensitive to the old and infirm. The Hop Pole as not busy at the time. That evening, I rang the pub and spoke to a member of staff named Josh. He said the licensee was 'unavailable' . He did not specify the nature of the unavailability. He promised a return call. The call never came. Shoddy, slapdash 'service'. We drove on to The Running Horse and were treated royally. We had a lovely lunch - fried octopus, and two cheese toastis. The bill came to £30. Revenue lost to The Hop Pole. As you sow, so shall ye reap.

Arriving before the pub opened they opened the doors a tad early and despite half our party cancelling they were very friendly. Jo was very helpful with toys, high chairs and food recommendations. The roast, beef and pork, were beautifully presented and every element spot on. The beef was perfectly medium rare as ordered and the veg sweet and delicious. The worst meal I think I have ever eaten. Birthday meal ruined by appalling food, terrible portions and awful service. The Caesar salad with chicken for £15 was an absolute scandal. The size of a small side salad, four measly pieces of over cooked chicken. The ciabattas were tiny and just served with over-fried chips and no dressing. Kids meals an overpriced half arsed joke. After really looking forward a family roast dinner at the hop pole, we were left bitterly disappointed! Service was slow from the off, when the food finally came out, it looked lovely; well presented! However, hidden under the Yorkshire pudding was a minute and measley amount of food! Two tiny slices of beef, two small roast potatoes 1 slice of carrot, 1 parsnip and a teaspoon of mash potatoes! They then brought out a tiny bowl of mixed tasteless mixed vegetables for all four of us to share! The food was tasteless and tiny! My two children and my partner ate it all as we were hungry, however we left hungry too! Not worth the price at all. Unfortunately, we won’t be going back- which is a real shame as this is our local.

We called in for lunch mid week about 13.00 & when asking for a table for two were told they would have to check with the kitchen, this seemed strange as the pub did not appear full & there were lots of empty tables. We were offered a table but told there would be a wait of about 30 mins before we could order food. As we had eaten there quite a few times in the past & enjoyed good meals we decided to stay. Our drinks arrived promptly but when we asked to order food there was a long wait before anyone came to take the order. Our food (fish finger sandwiches) arrived quite quickly & were very nice although the tartar sauce was unlike anything we had ever tasted before & not pleasant. As we paid we asked the very nice young man serving what it was made off & he came back with an answer that it was homemade but honestly it would have probably been tastier from a jar! Hopefully things will improve as we have always enjoyed our visits to the Hop Pole in the past.

We knew something was up as soon as we walked in, 7:30 on a Saturday night and the place was virtually empty plus as soon as we sat down we’re advised there were no steaks or pie available. Thought we would give The Hope Pole a go now it’s under new management/ownership. Not a huge menu which isn’t a problem, but then to be told there are things unavailable isn’t great even though it was early evening and very quiet. One of us ordered the fish and chips and played hide and seek to find any fish in all the batter. Carbonara, a really simple dish to make, was almost devoid of sauce, stodgy and lukewarm, accompanied by very dry hard garlic ciabatta. Steaks were mediocre at best. No we didn’t complain, we should have, but to be honest couldn’t face the whole conversation so we requested the bill, paid and left, passing a couple on another table in the middle of complaining about their food especially the carbonara. We tipped the waitress because she was lovely and helpful, but sadly we won’t be back!

We live locally. Historically, pre lock down eaten at this establishment with no problem with the food and service. However, seen on social media a Saturday offer, we decided to book and go. I appreciate this establishment has since lockdown new ownerships. We ordered drinks , limited draft bottle beers and ciders they accommodated my drink but questioned the mix consistency which at the time was concerning. We ordered our food the hop pole burger and chips and a side of onion rings, later we were told the side was not available and was offered the menu for any alternative which we declined due to limited choice of sides. The meal came out the bread had been frozen and was dry the patty was over cooked and dry it was just about palatable. I over heard a member staff discussing on seating another table what’s not available off the menu and that it is due to the ownership is transitioning . This was not communicated to us on ordering our meals. The lady staff member was pleasant, but did not have a warming welcome which made it uncomfortable and not pleasant. My question is if you advertise a special ensure you have the quantities and relevant sides eg: coleslaw, salad etc The atmosphere is very different quite a few tv’s no cosy ambience for a country pub , we would have been better off going to the George in bewdley in town for what we had and paid for a quick dinner. We are lucky enough to go out in these economic conditions to enjoy food and quality time together. It is a shame a pub that I have recommended in the past has now declined. My advice to take heed over the availability menu and drinks and the quality which seems not to be sourced locally. Moving forward, I do question their business standards and strategy to generate regular custom we wish the new owner all the best but as locals we will not visit or recommend.

Popped in as we were driving past to see if they were doing food, was told the kitchen was just closing as they'd finished lunch but the chef very kindly said he'd make us a meal. Food was amazing, great beer as well and the bar staff were brilliant. Definitely be back

Mondays cask ales 2.80 a pint 🍻 very good price. Think if kept those prices all week would do well because more people would go there. Hence bigger turn over bigger bottom line

Not usually one for writing reviews but the food and service was excellent. There was 16 of us and the staff and kitchen dealt with it amicably. Highly recommended.

They catered for 16 of my family and friends. We were put on one large table that made it easy for us to converse. They all congratulated me on my choice of venue for our get together. The food was excellent, the staff were pleasant. I would highly recommend it.

Lovely Sunday lunch disappointment there were no starters, and the desert was a very small portion for £6.25, may be that was the last bit left and was cut into 2 pieces in order to serve 2. Will go back as the food was very nice.

Totally underwhelming experience here.. booked for Sunday lunch and given menus, only to be told that there were no starters. How can a restaurant not have any starters?? Straight away you're thinking this isn't going to go well. No visible management on site, staff mainly made up of teenagers who although polite,do their best not to make eye contact in case they get asked to do something. Main meals came out, have to say the veg was nice but the beef was completely tasteless. This was my second visit here in a couple of months, where I had "locally sourced" sausage sandwich, which was barely cooked and totally awful.

We hadn’t been here for food for a while but weren’t disappointed when we recently visited again. The gammon and home made pie were fantastic and the Camembert starter was just as good. Desserts looked incredible!

Enjoyed a great 'light bites' lunchtime menu. Delicious home made food and exceptional value for money. We will be back soon if we are lucky enough to get a table.

We used to visit this pub regularly a few years ago, it had fantastic food and a fantastic atmosphere. Unfortunately after a change of owners, although the food was still good, we felt the pub itself had lost its way and decided we wouldn't be going back. After seeing that it was under new ownership again, and that the previous chef(s) were back in the kitchen we thought we'd give it another chance and so booked for Sunday lunch. WOW!!! We have not had a Sunday lunch of that quality anywhere, ever!! Perfect crispy roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding, tasty tasty gravy and the beef!!! Perfectly cooked and so tender. We will definitely be going back. The atmosphere and staff are also brilliant! So glad to see our old regular pub starting to buzz again. Fantastic work guys, we'll see you very soon!

Superb food service and atmosphere! We saw the advertised Monday curry club deal and it was spot on! Great quality food and unreal pricing, to top it off the cask ales were only £2.80 a pint! Very impressed and looking forward to coming back again!

Quite a strange experience 🤔 Upon entering, we felt we had interrupted a private party. There were people sitting around a log burner , children fighting, like being at home! We ordered, and after a while, we're told there weren't enough chips, so we had to alter the type of chip. The service was extremely slow, and the waitress kept trying to encourage us to order more drinks. I ordered a dish off a verbal special menu without knowing the price and was amazed the amount charged for basic veg with a shortcrust pastry. It was tasty, though.

Went here with the family the other day as our daughter wanted to treat us to lunch. The little one had a Curry, which she said was rather spicy and it didn't say this on the menu. I had Sausage and Mash although the sausage had no spice or anything to it and tasted of nothing at all. Mum had a Mushroom Brushetta and some soup of the day which she said was lovely. We had some drinks and the bill came to just over £50. The service was fine, although the chap behind the bar appeared like he hadn't been doing this for very long. No criticism as we all have to start from somewhere. Anyway, the food was lovely and would definitely go there again , just not to have the sausage and mash, although the mash was lovely.

It was a lovely parkland golf course, off the beat & track, with some tough holes. There were plenty of obstacles to get over or around. The greens seemed a little bit slow on the day we played. The fairways at the end of October, after a fair amount of rain, were hard going with very little run & autumn leaves, causing us to lose balls. It would be an ideal course to come back to in better weather. There are a number of static homes around the course, so the facilities have a nice bar, restaurant & local shop.
