Tuvimos una gran comida aquí. Éramos 7, y no habíamos reservado previamente.

Evitar nombre suministrado bajo pedido.

We have been to Hoops many times over the years and have tried other Indian restaurants in Cambridgeshire too. Hoops is consistently the best Indian restaurant we have been to and one of the best restaurants in Cambridgeshire. The food is always excellent and the ingredients are fresh and fragrant. The King prawn dishes are done to perfection. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are attentive. It never fails!

The food and service here is first rate. We had a lovely family meal, only thing I thought was that there was not a kids menu or provision for smaller portions. Just had a terrific meal at the Hoops. I am a real curry fan and would suggest that tonight's experience ranks up there with some if the best I have fer had. The menu is a mix of the easily recognisable (Dansak, Balti etc.) with house specials which all have a detailed explanation. The staff are very friendly and only too happy to assist when choosing a meal, plus on hand to clarify dishesIf you want a relaxed evening with fine food in a lively olde world building, then this is the ideal choice.

I have been here a number of times over the years and have generally had a reasonable meal. Tonight I thought I would give it another try as I had not been there for over a year, and I must say I was very pleased that I did. My Tandoori King Prawns were cooked to perfection. I am under the impression that the Lalbagh at Bourne is a little bit of a thorn in the side. I have eaten at The Lalbagh and yes it is quite excellent, but this establishment is catching up both in food content and soon, as i understand it in surrounding with a potential refit being considered.Service levels are relaxed which is fine if you are not in a hurry and you have the time. So please do consider this restaurant as I think it has potential.

Service is excellent with all the staff welcoming, in particular the University student who greeted, served and looked after us whose father is the chef. Great guy and an asset to the Restaurant.Nice pint of Mongoose and some really well cooked food. A good Prawn Puree as a starter and for me one of the best Chicken Balti’s that I have had in a long while. Great flavours and spiced just right.Indian food is an individual preference but for me this Restaurant has got it right and we will definitely return for a second opinion. Food here is best eaten-in in my experience; evenings are best. Ate there at lunch once and had to wait over 35 minutes for our food.Takeaways are just terrible: bland tasteless Chicken Tikka Massala, anaemic Chicken Tikka starter, also bland. Chicken Jalfrezi was hot but again with absolutely no flavour. Same for the Veg Jalzrezi my wife tried to eat. Saag Bhaji and Aloo Gobi were the only items with flavour and were nice. But most of it went in the bin.

I booked a table for 5 for my husband's birthday dinner which was on Thursday. We arrived at 19:30 and were the only customers all evening (apart from the many take away customers). The restaurant is quite nice inside with a cottage like atmosphere, however a little bit dated in places (especially the toilets need refurbishing!). We were getting to the end of eating our papadums and our order was still not taken. I looked at the waiter who didnt seem to be bothered whilst he was checking his phone. Without thinking to much I went over to the bar to ask whether we can place our order. Whilst we were ordering the restaurant's phone rang and to our surprise our waiter disappeared to pick it up!!! We felt that was really inappropriate. When he came back was quite helpful when I asked for his recommendation I cant complain there, though not as good at explaining what things were when my husband asked. Anyway the starters were quite nice not too greasy and huge portions. However we were waiting quite a bit for our plates to be taken away and after that it seemed like forever for the main courses despite an empty restaurant. The food was nice but not distinctively nicer than any other Indian restaurant I have been to. After we finished the waiter cleared the table and left a dessert menu even though we had my husband's birthday cake in the kitchen. After waiting few minutes I decided to go to the bar (yet again) to ask about the cake. The guy seemed as though he totally forgot about it!! Overall I wanted it to be a special evening for a special occasion (couldnt find a nice Thai or Indian in Cambridge so decided to make an effort and go outside) but unfortunately it was only ok...

I visited this tandoori last Saturday with family and friends. This was my first visit and I was very impressed by the décor, cleanliness and welcoming attitude of the staff. The food was excellent and very nicely presented. The menu was extensive with a wide choice of dishes. It was nice to dine in an unhurried atmosphere and the courses were served at a very nice tempo unlike some restaurants where you end up with the second course when you are still eating the starter. It was also very pleasant not to be continually asked if everything was ok which seems to be a trend in curry houses. Nice to see tap water served upon request in a large glass jug with lemon slices and they seemed very happy to supply it in spite of bottled water being on our table already. All in all a very pleasant experience and one I would recommend to all curry lovers.

First time visit and most impressed. Great and unexpected location in a country village in what at one time what was the village pub. How England has changed! The restaurant is very clean, comfortable and sports a lovely bar area. The service was good being both friendly and efficient. The Hoops serves extremely generous portions, where one main dish with 2 portions of rice satisfies two persons. Not knowing how generous the portions was I over ordered the 'take out' but the food was not to be wasted.I would hesitate to state, "this is one of the best curries I have tasted" simply because it is exactly that. That is if you would accept the word a plus 70year old who has travelled the world including working for long spells in the far and Middle East.As a curry buff, I very much look forward to the next bout of parenting my grandchildren at their new home in Great Eversden!!

So where to start: 2 dead flies in the mango chutney. The madras tasteless and no heat - tesco ready meals have more flavor. Chicken makhani & lamb makhani mixed up - both tasted like wheaty porridge with korma mixed in - dreadful. Put us off the whole meal. Ceylon was ok which was the only meal eaten. Complained about food, not much said - waiter left us sitting there....someone else came to speak to us after 10mins, agreed to remove curries from the bill. Paid the bill and left quickly..... THEN!! while driving home realized we were over charged.... Expensive & disappointing night from the hoops - Never returning again.

Me and my band ( The Hover-Boards ) were playing a private party down the road at the village hall on Saturday. We decided we'd try a curry as we had just over an hour to kill having sound checked and set up.We arrived, the 5 of us, the manager was very friendly and managed to squeeze us in. We explained we were in a rush, and they took our order from the bar whilst the table was being prepared. 30 minutes later, we had food in front of us, and by god it was good. We've had many many many curries between us, and none of us had tasted anything so fresh, fragrant and tasty as this. The spice of the curries was not overpowering like many places, and the hottest curry we had (marked as "2 chillies") was spicy enough to induce a sweat, but not overpowering in taste. It was, exactly as a curry should be. The service was fast, efficient and very friendly. We will definitely be visiting again when we are less in a rush, and would highly recommend to anyone.

Indian cuisine is definetely one of my favourites so I have decided to introduce it to some friends who were not very attracted to it, but had never tried it before. After a short search on tripadvisor The hoops Tandoori came up 2nd over in Cambridge so we decided to give it a go. The location is quite remote so most likely you will need a car. It should take about 15 minutes from central Cambridge. The restaurant is hosted in an 19th Century character house with large table in a countryside settings. The service in the restaurant is exceptional. The staff is very dedicated, prompt and extremely polite. Delivery was super fast and they have engaged very well with their clientele. I found the dishes to be very authentic, freshly prepared, home-style curry made with herbs and spices from around the world. The menu reflects the unique, cosmopolitan character and draws upon Bangladesh and India's exotic and varied cuisine. Unlike other Indian restaurants you do not get the usual oily grease curry and rice that was cooked for the past 2 days. Good selection of larger beers and large parking. Great sunday evening for me and my friends we will definetely coming back. Average cost per person for 1 dish + rice + naan + pint about 25 GBP.

I have been to this restaurant about a dozen times over the last year as I am local and I have always found it to be very good. The food is excellent (definitely the best Indian restaurant in Cambridge and Royston) and freshly prepared to order which means you have to wait about 20 minutes or so from ordering for main courses and take away. However, I would say that is a strength of the place as it shows the food is genuinely freshly made, and your meal is unhurried, unlike other Indian restaurants I have been to. I always have mild curries and they are very tasty, whereas my husband favours hot curry and he always says his are excellent. The place is different to a normal curry house as they have some unusual dishes alongside the standard fare, plus the calamari on the specials list is fabulous! Saturday nights can get very busy but the restaurant have now employed extra staff to help at the weekends so that has made service better at peak times. The rest of the time the place is relatively quiet so you get plenty of individual waiter attention which is nice, plus they always give free drinks at the end of the night which is a nice touch. Everyone in the nearby villages talks about how good the Hoops is, so I would say if you haven't been before, try it! Good food, attentive staff and well above average curry.

I can only assume a lot of the reviews here are fake, as this is definetly NOT the best resto in Cambridge!Went for lunch, the place was completely dead, not a good sign. The interior needs a major cleanup, in the daylight you can see very dirty walls and carpets, maybe in the night this cannot be seen. Also a few flies buzzing around, no attempt to clear them off by staff. Food took a while to come, and was just bog standard, nothing special at all, lots of sauce not much meat, which was tough and chewy. Very expensive dishes, not value at all. Way too many dishes on the menu, always a sign of a bad indian restaurant. We won't be going back.

Waiters didn't seem to want to take orders, probably due to a succession of takeaway orders being collected. During the first hour of our stay, no food whatsoever, other than the standard puppodums, was delivered to any of the restaurant customers. During this time, lots and lots of takeaway customers came in and carted off bags of food. There was also an English guy wandering around with handfuls of tickets, I guess he was one of the (very busy) home delivery guys. The food, when it came was just ok, lots of sauce, not much meat. Despite the tables being too small to house a group of four people, no effort was made to remove any of the serving plates, so we ate our meal surrounded by used dishes. Aside from the drink we ordered when we arrived, we were never attended and asked if we required drinks. When I collared a waiter and asked for a diet coke, he took my order and never came back with it. We were not asked if we wanted a coffee or dessert and, unlike a lucky few, weren't even offered the standard towel to wipe our hands on.I have never written a review before but felt compelled to do on this occasion having seen that this is presented as a top rated restaurant. Our meal was a complete shambles from start to finish made more comical but the managers apology where he seemed to suggest that their complete inability to deliver food to the table was somehow a matter beyond his control. If you do happen to like the food there, my advice is to buy a takeaway and have it delivered to your table, otherwise be prepared for a long night.

The wife and I ate here during a weekend trip to Cambridge. We was attracted to this restaurant because of the reviews and that its number 1 in Cambridge. Even though its a very nice indian, I'm surprised that its number 1 in Cambridge?. That said, the food was really good and the service was attentive and professional. Would I go back, yes off course..

This place is a little bit outside central Cambridge (5 miles) but worth the drive. Food was well above average. Staff were courteous and efficient. Overall a great, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

As a result of using tripadvisor we visited the Hoops last week. The decor was very nice, the food excellent and the service was attentive. We could understand the high ranking for this restaurant. Recommended.

I have reviewed The Hoops before but it just gets better. The Calamari are to die for and incredibly tender and are presented beautifully. The same applies to the Whitebait. Go for the specials. The Green Curry has had some mixed reviews. It is great. It has real flavour, hot but not blistering. In different countries a hot curry means different things. If you are not sure then ask. The waiters are very friendly and the senior staff will always help. The offer of a free digestif is a bonus. We live within 200 metres but would choose this any time over the best the city can offer. This is not your average curry house.

Our evening got off to a chaotic start when we were given someone else's table, twice! However excellent food and service followed with great touches like complementary starters and on-the-house finishing drinks. Attractively appointed restaurant. Would be even better with a few homemade Indian desserts, rather then the laminated card standard offerings.

Because this really has a truly impressive and amazing string of reviews, I have considered this review for four days before submission. I am not writing this lightly and I sincerely hope the owners address the shortcomings we experienced, because I would love to come back and instead experience the restaurant everyone else described! The overall poor rating I gave this restaurant was because of the combination of uniformly mediocre dishes and at times painfully slow service.Off to a good start...A close friend i had not seen in a few years visited Cambridge this week, and I decided to take her out to Great Eversden on the incredibly strong recommendations for Hoops. We made our reservation and arrived about 10 minutes early. Everything started really well, as the bar staff were authentically friendly and very quickly our table was ready. The restaurant appeared to be extremely crowded, and we were seated in a small room with only three 4-seater tables that was off the main flow of the waiters. One of these tables was a spare utensils and storage area, in effect. Our pappadums (standard issue, btw) arrived with no problem, along with very nice chutneys (but not excellent ones), and we were able to order with only slight delays. The experience went downhill from here. The service was glacially slow....First, it took the (extremely polite and nice) waiter about 20 minutes to show up to take our complete order, and bringing the appetisers and main course food took an additional 45 minutes. When the first wave of food came, my main course followed about 5 minutes later. Although we clearly and repeatedly ordered a jug of water, the only drinks they brought us were bar drinks (e.g. beer and wine). I resorted to walking out and grabbing a different waiter who I saw carrying a jug of water in order to get a serving of water to our table. The food was mediocre....My friend ordered a mixed vegetable curry, which both she and I considered an average dish. She also ordered lime rice, which she had had a few times before, but what they brought was definitely not lime rice, as there was not a hint of citrus in it. We confirmed with the waiter that the basmati they brought her was their 'lime rice'. It was mis-named, and also a mediocre rice dish. My rice was excellent as pilau rice, but my main dish was a green chicken curry marked as extremely hot that they had on their specialty-added menu. I chose it specifically because these curries are often the best the chef makes and can be amazing, and frankly the description was mouth watering. Unfortunately, the dish itself was, again, mediocre; it was a decidedly mild dish with a spice mix that was unimpressive and unmemorable.A minor point: the canned indian music was slightly annoying. As it stands, I would gladly eat here if I lived in the village, but would not seriously consider going on a road trip out of Cambridge to get pretty average curry. We left confused about how Hoops had gotten such astronomical reviews--I will give them another chance in a few months, so I do hope I am not put into the neglected step-child's room next time.

My wife and I booked a table at this restaurant during our weekend in Bedfordshire, based upon the excellent reviews in Trip Advisor. I did try to do this on line with their "Book a Table" service but did not get a confirmation as I did when I called by telephone the next day. We arrived at the venue at 7-30pm on Friday evening where it appeared to be a pub converted. We were greeted warmly and seated and it was obvious from the attention to detail that this could be the start of a very good evening. Table napkins cloth, Bristol Blue Glasses all added to the class of the venue. We ordered a bottle of the Rose Blush which was delivered in well chilled fashion, also table water with ice served in ornate Glass jugs. For starters after the Poppadoms and Chutneys my wife chose the Onion Bhaji and I opted for the Tandoori Fish. We felt that both the starters were above anything we had previously had at other locations. For main course my wife had the Chicken Tikka and I have the Chicken Resala with coconut rice in both cases and a Peshwari Nan bread, again spectacular is the only descriptive these deserved. It was obvious also that the other people in the restaurant were equally enjoying what was put before them including a quartet of Americans who were sat behind us. I am in total agreement with all the praise given to this restaurant but am amazed at the descriptives given by Gastrojester of London who said his experience was terrible but does not give any details on this. Also his praise of another location not once but three times is somewhat strange for someone who has only submitted a handful of reviews?????? My advice is this restaurant is as good as it gets and we are not that easily pleased when it comes to spending our hard earned money.

My husband is very picky about his food and so I read the reviews and booked for his birthday with some trepidation. No need to worry because all of us loved it. The food was delicious, portion size generous and the service attentive. Planning to go back with girlfriends in the very near future, definitely a favourite in our house.

What a wonderful experience! The menu was excellent - a really wide choice, something for every taste. When the food arrived it was brilliant - smelt lovely, looked appetising and tasted delicious and really fresh. The service too was excellent - the waiters were polite and attentive without intruding or making one feel one should hurry. The restaurant has kept its old-world feel and decorated accordingly - no jarring colour schemes or inappropriate lighting. It was clean and fresh too with "proper" table cloths and napkins - none of the paper serviettes which one often gets these days at some restaurants. Excellent value for money too - cheaper than the last few places we have visited. We will definitely be returning and would recommend to everyone.

Hard to fault this place in the out of the way village of Eversden. For anyone visiting Cambridge the 20 minute car drive is well worth it to experience a typical South Cambs village combined with superb Indian food. You could take a walk down the Wimpole Way before hand to work up an appetite. The staff are friendly without being servile and the food and presentation is first class. It even has a beer garden to eat outside in the warm summer evenings. We ate there at least once a month in all the years we were living in the area. Totally recommended on every level!

We've often had deliveries from The Hoops, but never tried the restaurant. We were stuck for somewhere to have an early dinner, and needed somewhere local that could accommodate 2 young children. The staff at The Hoops made a wonderful fuss of the children, and the food was up to their usual standard. The quality of the vegetables in the various curries marks this place out as something special. Looking forward to taking the children back again in the summer so we can make use of the garden.

As we were in the area decided to try this restaurant based on trip advisor reports. Generally, we were not disappointed. This is a good quality restaurant within its price range and is much more than your run of the mill Indian. The car park is a bit scruffy but a lot of trouble has been taken with creating a nice interior ambience with good class tableware , cutlery etc. the welcome was exceptionally warm without being obsequious, particularly from the lady in charge, and the service was excellent. The impression is of a team who are really trying hard to create an all round good dining experience and have genuine interest in their customers and are anxious to gain feedback. My one criticism was my main course lamb shaslick mossala which was daunting in size and excess quantity of bright red sauce. I note this has been commented on before and hopefully they will take this on board. It was a little off putting and lacked sophistication presentationally as a dish. Excess sauce would be better served in a side dish with main ingredients more tastefully arranged on plate. I would certainly return to this restaurant in the future and look forward to trying other menu options.

My husband and I visited the Hoops for our wedding anniversary on Saturday evening and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. After our meal we were sitting chatting when we were presented with a beautiful cake and complementary drinks for our wedding anniversary. This was a complete surprise and one that really made our night special! We would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning again very soon.

We were persuaded to give Hoops a try by the reviews posted here on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. It's the kind of place where you can order anything on the menu and expect it to be good. Everything we tried was obviously freshly prepared and cooked to order and we didn't have to wait long for our food. If I were being very critical I would say that my main dish (Lamb Shaslick Mossala) was a little heavy on the sauce, but hey some people like it that way. Overall it didn't detract from what was a lovely meal and I would definitely go again.

I order a take-away very regularly from the Hoops. Mostly use the delivery service.Always been excellent up until last week when we waited nearly two hours for order. One hour was stated at ordering. Understand timing cannot be exact but thought this was excessive. Wouldhave collected if advised at the time. Food arrived cold! Will continue to use but will be a bit wearyabout the delivery service. We have been very fortunate to have a great service up until now!Especially Belinda, lovely lady. Lovely food usually.

From the sumptuous leather seats, the real cotton napkins, through to the tasteful décor, the Hoops did not disappoint. The food on offer was amazing and the Barosso shiraz simply delicious. It was our first visit, we went with a couple of friends, and we would recommend The Hoops to anyone looking for a great night out without costing the earth. The owner even gave us a complimentary drink to finish off with, something we have not experienced for many years! Well done The Hoops!

We've not been to The Hoops since it was a pub many years ago and went for a quick curry because we couldn't be bothered cooking - what a surpise, it wasn't a run of the mill 'cafe' type experience it was brilliant. The surroundings were very smart and comfortable, the food exquisite and the service first class. If you fancy indian food with a difference try one of the specialities - the spicy rack of lamb with asparagus was particularly good.

Been in cambridge for 25 years but now back where nearest delivery for curry is milton! It was always good but now seems even better.
