The Holywell has had it’s ups and downs over the past few years, but the new owners seem very keen to put it back on the map. The newly refurbished interior is very nice, with reupholstered seating and new carpet. Although the rear garden isn’t open yet, stylish new garden furniture is in place, and once the mindlessly vandalised marquee has been repaired it will offer a great outdoor space. Not a huge range of beer available at the moment, but this will obviously improve when customer numbers increase. The beers on offer this evening were all in good condition and very reasonably priced. I understand that food will be available once again in the coming weeks. It’s down to all of us pub lovers to support our locals, to ensure they remain open and not turned into drab apartment blocks!! For the Holywell to thrive, it needs support!! Go in for a pint, or grumble in a few years time that the only places left are chrome and plastic gastropubs!

This place is not worth a penny. The service you get is poor. Me and a few others went in for the drive through experience for the American diner night. I took my food home, by the time I had opened the lid and took a bite there was a hair within my sandwich and in the nachos. I called to complain and to get my money back, which I got a comment back saying “the chefs are bald so it’s not ours”. I am disgusted by this point, wanting a refund, then I eventually got through to a manager which took my details down to process the refund. 3 weeks go by and I have had no refund or response. So I call and they again take my details down for a refund. From this point I have been ringing every week for my refund and this event was in late feb/early March. I have left countless voicemails and countless emails of this. I’ve tried going to the pub myself to complain but due to Covid I assume it isn’t open. No one has answered my calls or responded to me. I will be still trying to contact the pub to retrieve my refund for that night, DO NOT EAT HERE.

I've visited several times now since they reopened and the new people are lovely! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere and yet to have a bad time there. Their food isn't available yet so can't rate it but their Guinness is always spot on and they have more different Gins than you thought possible. It's got a separate pool table room too

Although quiet, The Holywell has always been a conveniently close pub to my house and thus an occasional stop-off point for a pint or a pub meal. The new owners who took over in November 2019, however, have killed any chance of my returning. A reasonable pint of Pedigree or Doom Bar was always available at this traditional pub, but the people who run it now have seemingly decided to forego real ale all together, serving little but cheap lager, leaving The Holywell with possibly the worst drinks range of any pub in Hinckley. If that wasn't bad enough, the pub is cash-only, meaning walking in an expecting to pay on card - not an unreasonable idea in 2020 - involves a secondary journey to a cash point. On my first visit I also encountered no ice available for spirits, and the bar staff giving change to the wrong customers. Hoping this was just opening weekend issues I tried again a few weeks later, to find the same ineptitude and terrible drink range. It's very sad to see a once popular town pub run so badly. I shan't be returning until somebody else takes over.

2nd time we have eaten at Holywell and both times have been excellent. I had a light bite plaice and the plate was overflowing, excellent value for money at £3.45. Excellent cut of steak, cooked beautifully and came with fresh salad and onion rings and enough chips for 4 people! Definitly best place in Hinckley for dinner on a budget, shame it's not been discovered by more people, a lot nicer than the new hansom cab and the milestone that microwaves everything. Come on guys support your local pub you won't be disappointed

My wife and I had Sunday Lunch at the Holywell today and what a great value meal we had. Only £4.95 per person. I had roast beef with Yorkshire.and my wife had chicken crown. They both came with fresh roast and new potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. This is the best value Sunday Lunch we have ever had. The quality of the food was great and the pub is clean and welcoming. Staff are very friendly. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

This was our first visit to the Holywell. I follow their Facebook page and the post advertising Sunday lunch for just £4.95 was too tempting for a Bank Holiday weekend with nothing in particular planned! We were a little sceptical and thought for such a price the quality might be compromised - we were in for a nice surprise which exceeded all expectations. We ordered the beef and when it arrived the quantity and quality was very good and we liked the separate jug of home made gravy. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful and the desserts at just £1.50 were again great value. We will definitely be back! One minor point - the bar man seemed very unsure of how to place our order on the till and was unable to answer some fairly straightforward questions which was a bit surprising and did not give a good first impression. We discovered the management has recently changed so we will give him the benefit of the doubt as he may have been new to the job.

Just want to write a quick review as we had such a great time and service at the 'Holywell' We visited the pub by chance as we were driving through with our 2 small children and needed a quick rest bite. The staff and landlords could not have been more accommodating our needs and excellent food at reasonable prices. Just wish we lived a bit closer!!

Thought I'd try my local as they advertised 'Steak and free drink, Thursday'. Ordered steak and free drink (small red wine, I was asked which I'd like, I said the one that was open), I also ordered a pizza for my lad. Barman had little knowledge of the menu and the till and tried to charge me £15.50. I questioned it mentioning the offer advertised on a board outside, he said 'oh yeah' and pratted about for a further few minutes, trying to get the till to come up with a price, It should have been £11.25 I'd worked out. He then said I couldn't have the wine he'd poured.. the offer was for the house wine only so I said you'd better pour another then and he said he wouldn't because I'd taken a sip, which I hadn't. He then pointed out a lipstick stain on the glass and said it was mine. I wasn't even wearing lipstick. I got him to smell my breath even. He was adamant I was lying, I'd taken a sip ..... I cancelled the meal and walked out. What a complete shambles.

This is an excellent pub under the right management and the new landlord and landlady seem lovely and no The importance of a good friendly atmosphere! I'm sure giving time the loyal locals of Hinckley will be giving it a go and those who need to be will be barred AGAIN! As always it will take time for those people to worked out! Or maybe they will get a job and spend less time in there anyway! We can only hope!! good luck guys

Have made representations to owners (Marstons Beers) and have not had the courtesy of a reply. This pub is poor in every respect. Sticky tables, glasses 'tired', toilets unclean....I went in for a quick pint and to give it a second chance. DON'T BOTHER :-(

Visited here end of April for first time to meet up with friends. Arrived in car park to find both the front and side entrance were blocked by smokers ( it's not nice walking through a bloom of smoke when you don't) we sat in the car until the side entrance was clear. Inside we waited to meet friends, the tables were sticky, the seating ripped. Our party ordered beer, wine and Bacardi and coke. The beer didn't taste fresh and the wine and Bacardi tasted weak. The coke was flat. We decided against eating as hygiene didn't appear to exist. My husband needed to use the toilets which he described as: dirty, smelly, a dump you wouldn't even allow a pig to use. The whole pub was dirty. The staff didn't seem interested in customer service either and seemed to do the minimum. This pub has great potential in the right hands as it easily accessible and could be a very attractive pub.

Sticky tables, filthy toilets and miserable, untrained staff 'welcome' you to this pub. On making an order for food (Starters BBQ ribs and Main course Steak pie x2). The main course came first, with the advice that the starters would follow. When told that it should be served the other way around the staff were bemused at this! An offer was made to 'put the pie back into the micro wave if it needed to be re-heated' - oh really! The chips were re-cycled cold lumps of grease, the pie barely warm and the peas black-end....how DO you burn peas? No pudding was ordered, a refund demanded. The owners Marston's Beers were informed (via Twitter) and guess what...no reply from them either. Don't use the toilets. My advice as a pub-goer is TO AVOID THIS PUB.
