We held my mums wake here on Friday for about 35 people. Ali set up half the venue for us so we could all be together and from the moment any of the funeral party arrived they were welcomed and offered drinks and teas and coffees. We had a hot and cold buffet which everyone commented was lovely. Thankyou Ali, Mark and all your staff for making this saddest of occasions very special for us.

The nicest pub food I’ve ever had and that’s not even an exaggeration! The food is evident to be home cooked, so fresh and tasty! The loveliest local pub I and my fiancé have ever been too, such a friendly atmosphere. If you’re in the area, you MUST try it and I promise you will not be disappointed!! We can’t wait to return!!! Highly recommend the fish pie

This is the nearest to a local I can get. Food is good and honest, great portions and very reasonably priced. Pub is cosy and inviting and the LandLady is brilliant - friendly and attentive . BUT… the Landlord is one of the most surly and tight lipped I have ever come across (and I am no stranger to visiting pubs over the years and up and down the country ) I’d like to think he’d maybe had a bad day but I was reminded on my most recent visit that he is always like that (at least to people who are not regulars) so I will not be going back - a pity as a good pub in all other regards .

A proper pub, full of folk on a Saturday lunchtime having a drink at the bar or grabbing some food. We popped in for lunch whilst our kids played Airsoft nearby for a birthday, and quite frankly I could’ve stayed there all day… just the most perfect and relaxing ambience, friendly staff and tasty grub. The halloumi fries and nachos were lush. We will be back, even if we have to shoehorn our kids into more Airsoft!

We booked a three-course Christmas lunch with friends, but on the day I wasn’t well enough to go. I quite expected to pay for the meal in view of the last-minute cancellation, but the Holmbush kindly provided my husband with my choices of all three courses, beautifully packaged to heat and enjoy at home. Wonderful service, quite unexpected.

Booked with the intention of having a Sunday roast but the specials board caught our eye. The chilli with rice was delicious and the ham egg and chips cooked perfectly, great portion of fresh ham. Plum crumble also very tasty. It was lovely to see a traditional pub full of people enjoying the food. Although we didn’t have the roast dinner, what we saw looked really good. Thank-you for a wonderful lunch.

On the way back from shopping in Crawley I was convinced by the wife to stop at the Holmbush Inn for Sunday lunch … I can’t rave enough about the wonderful Lamb Roast, accompanied with Perfected Roast potatoes, Roast parsnip, Cheesy cauliflower, broccoli, Yorkshire pudding, carrots and peas. All I can say is this must go on your bucket list of Sunday lunch venues in West Sussex. Great atmosphere, superb service and above all … delectable food. Full Five star review in my humble opinion.

Yesterday we held our late fathers wake at The Holmbush Inn, Faygate. I cannot thank and praise Ali & Mark and their staff for looking after us so well. We were a large group, approximately 90 people and they went above and beyond to make sure we could celebrate Dads life with our friends and family with no worries at all. The buffet lunch was superb and guests all commented on how tasty and beautifully presented all the food was. The service was second to none both from the Bar and the Kitchen. They had even organised the Village Hall Car park to be open to ensure all guests cars could be parked safely. Ali & Mark we cannot thank you enough, you made a very tough day easier for us all.

The main reason for our review is the lack of enthusiasm of the waiters and the toast itself which was ok, tasted ok, but was quite average. The person behind the bar just pointed to our booked table with no lt much greeting. The food looked average on the plat, tasted ok but didn’t impress. There are two parts of the restaurants, one is around the bar at window level and is nicer than a smaller area which has no windows, and is lower so very dark.

My stepfather and I were after a light lunch on a Wednesday in mid DEC not far from Littlehaven (Horsham) and having reviewed the menu on their website, we opted for The Holmbush Inn. We were not disappointed. It's a lovely country pub in the village of Faygate. We were given a warm welcome by the lady at the bar who became our waitress and provided friendly and efficient service. We ordered a pint and a half of the local Harveys Sussex Bitter - excellent. We opted for the soup (tomato with roasted pepper) served with a bread roll plus a jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise, salad garnish and a side of coleslaw. The food arrived within 20 minutes and was excellent - good portion sizes and at reasonable prices. Special mention to the salad garnish which consisted of little gem lettuce with baby tomatoes and diced cucumber, onion and yellow pepper in a tasty vinaigrette dressing - so much better in my opinion than the leafs/rocket type garnishes that are so prevalent in many venues. The pub was pretty busy with most customers also eating. There is a good size car park. The lunch menu had a good selection of main dishes - we will hopefully try those on a future visit.

I would have loved to visit and try as supporting local is so important to me yet today as keyworker delivery of fruit and veg in Faygate unfortunately we had an issue with one of our boxes falling over and we needed help from a friend so we pulled into the carpark to rescue our veg and a very nasty man came out aggressive towards my husband telling us someone was trying to park yet the man he was referring to was our friend who came to help.Shame that this pub has such disgusting staff I will tell everyone never to visit this establishment unless you want a mouthful of abuse.

This is my local and I and my family used to go in quite a lot, it’s a decent enough pub and the food is ok, albeit a bit overpriced for what it is. But the negative which stops me and others I know round the area going in more, is the group of blokes that sit at the end of the bar everyday from about 6pm, frequently being very loud, swearing etc. Clearly they think it’s their pub. They really spoil it for me, shame really. But they must spend a fortune so I can see why the owners allow it to continue.

Visited this very traditional British pub on Sunday for a pre-Easter lunch. We were greeted very quickly and shown our table. The pub has a very traditional layout with lots of interesting nooks and crannies. We all opted for the roasts - the choice was lamb, beef, chicken or a mix of all three. Food arrived in good time and was delicious, the meat extremely well cooked and proper homemade roast potatoes! Vegetables were served separately in sharing bowls, and were a really good selection. Personally I often feel you are not given enough veg in so many places these days but that isn't a concern here. The portions are generous! We all opted for deserts and well done to this pub for offering the option of a small desert with coffee. So often you fancy something sweet but not able to eat a complete desert so this is such a good option to have. All the deserts were well received - my lemon posset was nothing short of delicious! All in all a reasonably priced choice with excellent food and very good service! Will definitely return

A Saturday lunchtime and we found ourselves without our 15 year old son in tow! So the only thing to do - go out and spoil ourselves! We have been meaning to try this establishment for some time and so glad that today we managed it! What a lovely welcoming from the staff - the choice on the menus was excellent. After some deliberating we eventually choose the whitebait (from the lighter section of the menu) with the addition of chips and the scampi, chips and peas. Both meals were delicious - portion sizes were spot on. We managed deserts - the mini-pud versions with tea/coffee - a fruity crumble and treacle pudding - absolutely perfect! Lovely traditional pub with cosy interior . Received a warm welcome from the landlord and all the staff were attentive without being intrusive . It serves home cooked pub food with specials on the board . The tempura prawns were delicious with a chilli dipping sauce and husband had the mozzarella sticks with spicy tomato dip . Birth came with nice salad that was dressed perfectly . For mains we chose chilli with rice and nachos and Cumberland sausage and mash . Disappointed the sausage wasn't the traditional Cumberland ring you would expect but the onion gravy and accompanying veg were nice . Chilli had just the right amount of heat . Overall a pleasant evening although didn't like the non itemised bill just lumped starters, mains , drinks together . I want to go back to try the pizzas at lunchtime and the warm welcome is def a major attraction to return .

Nice setting with beams, wooden floors and open fires. Good selection of beers, spirits and wines, complimented by plentiful home cooked food. The garden and patio area is good for outdoor eating, and the car park is directly adjacent to the pub making it very accessible.

Traditional pub with a warm welcoming atmosphere, and nice and cosy on a chilly night. A separate dining area but we chose to eat in the bar as that's where the fire was. The food is good, tasty pub grub, nothing spectacular but no complaints about the quality. My only criticism of the pub is the unimaginative choice of beer. Overall a reliable option which we will return to.

We wanted somewhere that we could chat and where they had a good glass of wine. I've never been here before but will definitely return. I had a Hardy's Shiraz and our friend had the Rioja. Both were nice glasses of wine. The barman (landlord?) was very knowledgeable and helpful and also knew how to make a lovely Bloody Mary. We'll be back to try the food soon. The pub us set off the main road and is decorated in a typical style of a good old fashioned country pub. Hope you enjoy it this place too.

Came for a Sunday lunch and it was amazing. The service was 1st class and the food was great. The homely atmosphere added charm to an already charming pub. The owners and bar staff couldn't do more for us either and added a really personal touch that has been lost in most of the chains nowadays. Quintessentially English. Definitely recommend.

We stopped off at this quaint country pub for a quiet pint,. However this experience was totally spoiled by a group of locals who were in conversation with the staff. They were not only very loud but their language was disgusting in mixed company. We could even hear them from outside from where we moved to. We will not be going back.

The atmosphere was welcoming warm and friendly. The menu was designed to suit everyone’s taste. We both had Stilton and broccoli soup which was very tasty and sufficient as a starter. The haddock and triple cooked chips were devine. The batter was light and tasty. The whole meal was superb and well priced. Sadly the heavens opened, but the bar manager went the extra mile by driving us back to our hotel in the village. What more could you ask for? British hospitality at its best. We certainly didn’t expect such kindness and compassion. Thank you SO much.

Oh Dear! What has happened here? Went with a group of friends for Lunch which we had done earlier in the year when we had a superb meal . The menu was imaginative, food well cooked and presented and we were expecting a similar experience BUT the menu now presented was a great disappointment. No starters on offer , a very basic menu with little choice of dishes requiring no skill to produce . Three specials which were not special-more basics . What we had was OK and the service was pleasant and helpful but we will not return unless a more interesting menu does. The choice in Henfield is becoming more and more limited.

We have often passed this attractive looking pub but this time decided to stop for a late lunch. We were warmly greeted and shown a nice table by a window. The decor is very stylish, creating a good atmosphere. Our drinks order was taken and delivered promptly, as was our meal order. M had beef and ale pie and I had grilled chicken served with pappardelle and a creamy sauce. I love pasta and this was a delicious dish. M declared the pie to be first rate. We were going to be good and resist pudding but succumbed to a mini dessert with coffee - caramelised profiteroles. A perfect round off to an excellent meal. We will be back.
