What a breathof fresh air the new manager and bar staff are . We are finally seeing our pub back to a community pub amazing service by all staff. Can't wait for the next entertainment

Come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks. Had a great few nights lately, live music on the 7th was just what the doctor ordered - singer was great and sung hits that the regulars appreciated. Positive lively atmosphere, everyone having fun. Active pool table and darts, friendly locals and regulars. Good selection of beers should please everyone - outside section if weather is good. Anne-Marie has turned it around.

This place is good with friends and staff remember what your drinking which is always a lovley touch. Clean, friendly, good atmosphere, and music

Recently under new management and the improvement has been amazing. Great atmosphere and a good place to go for drinks at the weekend.

Ordered our meals and food was delivered promptly, and was very good. The servers were very good and friendly and the pub itself was relaxed. Will return for another meal.

My wife and I met with a few friends for a festive lunch. All the three courses were well cooked, well presented, the service was, as usual, excellent. My wife and one of our friends had the hake which they said was excellent. The rest of us had the turkey which was moist and succulent. The vegetables were cooked well.The whole meal was great value and our thanks to Andy, Sue and all the staff for looking after us so well, as they do every time we come.We hope that you all have a great Christmas and New year.

Not the best place to meet up as it was in need of refurbishment with dirty chairs etc. Very noisy in the bar so couldn't hear what person next to you was saying.

Cuando llegamos la mesa estaba lista y decorada preciosa. La comida era increíble y se servía de manera eficiente y profesional, y el personal no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros. Toda la familia quedó realmente impresionada con el servicio y la calidad de la comida. Pasamos una tarde encantadora y no pudimos agradecerles lo suficiente, definitivamente recomendaríamos el Hollybush.

Vino de Sheffield a visitar a la familia y me apetecía comer algo. Entonces, como la cuñada vive en la localidad, pensamos que vendríamos a probar el pub, ya que habíamos oído cosas buenas sobre la comida.

We frequently visit the Hollybush for food with the children and drinks with friends and family. Always a friendly atmosphere, food is lovely and fast and helpful service at the bar. No complaints, 5 star review from us.

Came to the Hollybush for my boyfriend to grab a bite to eat. I wasn’t overly hungry so just ordered a salad to keep him company whilst he devoured his greedy boy burger. I decided on a Brie & bacon salad & added a chicken breast. When the food came it was well presented & well above the average offerings you get from most pubs. Incredibly generous with the Brie & tasty thick bacon. I thouroughly enjoyed it & will definitely be back to order again. I guess the burger was also very good as I didn’t hear a peap out of my boyfriend for at least 20 minutes.

Great pub family friendly and dog friendly which is a massive bonus as not many pubs in at a allow dogs. Food is great and the atmosphere is friendly . Would definitely recommend

Writing this review in response to a bad one I have just read which has shocked me as my experience of this pub is totally the opposite. Extremely friendly welcome from all the staff they go out of there way to ensure your experience is excellent. Food and drink always good no complaints at all. It’s definitely a family pub that I’m happy to take my kids too and know they are totally safe and well looked after. I have also conducted business meetings in the pub and would feel confident at any time to do this. Thank you for always making my experience pleasurable to the landlord and all the staff.

Looking at recent negative comments on here blatant lies. I’ve been drinking here last 22 years and current landlord is definitely one of the best. The clicky comment made me laugh as she has been friendly with ALL the men here now she’s been banned from this establishment as she’s banned everywhere else in the area, sad as these comments are derogatory towards this pub and are lies.

The staff are welcoming and friendly, Great food at really good prices. Would definitely recommend this pub to friends & family.

Went to the hollybush today with my family for breakfast. The food was good and the service from Sue even better.i would highly recommend any day.

This is the ONLY place I will go for food locally, especially with family. It is clean, the staff go above and beyond to help you, if you have any concerns the landlord is happy to help as are the other staff. Lovely food, always hot and delicious. Dogs are welcome but this does NOT affect cleanliness of the place. They have water bowls for the dogs around the bar area, NOT the restaurant itself. Service is outstanding from all members of staff. The PERFECT local with both friendly staff and customers. Other locals are no where near as welcoming, friendly or clean. I took family and family friends here a birthday and they all enjoyed it. Will be back very soon.

Service is terrible. Clicky pub. Landlord clearly is trying to make it an old man's pub. No life in there whatsoever. Even over heard staff talking about their personal opinions of customers to other customers. Appalling ! Will not be returning , such a disappointment especially when newly moved to this area. We are a big family and have many gatherings with friends. The location is great for us and if this pub was run more professionally and landlord was at least friendlier and not rude to his customers then this would be perfect as our local but the way it's fun has let it down. Good was fine, standard pub food. Was very unimpressed though that dogs are allowed to eat drink and urinate at the bar ! Clearly cocaine is acceptable there as customers gathered in toilet to " freshen up " . I am a business proffessional there is no way I would meet fellow colleagues here . I would not being my children here and certainly would not invite my family or friends here. Get new staff this pub has far far more potential.

First visit to the hollybush and I must say I wasn’t expecting much, I was very surprised. Lovely staff, a nice friendly environment and lovely food at a reasonable price. I will definitely be paying another visit.

Me and my partner went here for some quick food and were both really happy with the service. We weren’t expecting much from the food but it was tasty, cheap and with decent sized portions. The barmaid who served us (I assume she is the manager, also) couldn’t have been nicer and the chef even came out to check that our food was ok.

Hoy me he puesto en contacto con el pub de arriba para reservar una mesa para 20 personas para una ocasión de cumpleaños. Me informaron que desafortunadamente no podían atender a 20 invitados ya que la cocina no podía recibir esta cantidad de pedidos. Cuando les informé que solo podía ser 15 y me avisaron que podía reservar 15 pero que no podrían agregar más reservas de nosotros. Después de asistir a este pub en el pasado y recientemente este pub apenas tiene ningún comensal, y hubiera pensado que habrían apreciado el negocio de entre 15 y 20 invitados, todos con comida y bebida. Ahora hemos reservado en otro pub local que fue muy acogedor y feliz de atender nuestra ocasión. Estoy decepcionado porque no pudimos asistir a uno de sus lugares para nuestra comida familiar.

Cannot recommend this pub enough if you want value for money and excellent service from Andy and his team. Always made to feel welcome and shall continue to visit regularly

Really great proactive staff. Looked after us drom the moment we stepped in the building. Food was ok, lots of fried food. But would go back because was made to feel welcome.

I eat here often and every time I do its good. all the staff are friendly and helpful and always polite. Food is good quality.

Came here on Christmas eve for a meal. Great atmosphere and all the staff pleasant and helpful as always.

We met up with our friends for a festive lunch the only difference this time was we had to pre-order our food.

We had a variety of meals ranging from steak to fish and a couple of vegetarian meals. Everyone enjoyed their meals, all nine served at the same time, the service being especially good. I’d eat there again.

We popped in again to start our days shopping off with the fab breakfast this place puts on. Food here is always fresh and tastes great.

A group of us met up as usual for our monthly lunch the welcome from the staff was really warm and friendly. We ere served with our drinks and our food orders were taken quickly and efficiently.

Visited this pub for an evening meal. There were only 3 couples eating when we arrived. We were a party of 3. Ordered a stater,main and dessert. However the food tasted bland and was full of grease. It didn’t taste fresh and the chips were half frozen and fried in dirty oil as the chips tasted terrible. The menus were very dirty and had remains of food left on them from previous diners. The service was good. The ladies toilet were terrible as there were no locks on the doors except for one. The place was cold we had to keep our cardigans on.

We regularly visit the hollybush as it is our local pub. Very friendly atmosphere, prompt service and family friendly. Good choices on the menu. Sky sports is available here too. Food always of a good standard.

Lovely hot food and welcoming staff,definitely go there again.would recommend to family and friends.

We visited on a saturday evening, and whilst it wasnt particularly busy it was extremely noisy. However the food was really good but the over loud comments being shouted out we found a bit offputting,although not directed at us.

We booked a table online and arrived on time to be greeted by a visibly stressed and agitated manager who was very rude when he couldn't seem to find our booking. When he eventually did we were seated at our table without any explanation on how the ordering system worked and as it was our first visit we were left to guess what to do from what people around us were doing. As we were about to get up and order another member of staff came to our table along with two other customers and abruptly asked had we booked a table as our table was for the customers next to her; when we replied we had she just walked away with no apology or explanation. The roast itself was lovely with plenty of hot food to choose from, however the service and atmosphere was appalling and we left without any member of staff acknowledging us or asking how our food was. We will not be returning.

This lovely olde worlde pub is just around the corner from our house in Pentwyn, Cardiff and we both love it. The food is excellent and well priced ... most meals Monday to Friday are 2 for £10 ... the atmosphere is good and the many locals are very friendly. There is a nice garden at the back with many wooden tables and benches and a huge umbrella for the shade.

This time when we met up with our friends for our monthly lunch the food was excellent, well presented, well cooked, hot and really tasty. The service was superb even though it was our servers first shift. He worked very well and soon found out anything he did not know about and kept us well informed. He did a marvellous job. I gather that the staff we had problems with last time are no longer working there.Everything back to normal. Pop in for good food, good beer, good atmoshpere and great staff in a great pub.

Met up with a few friends in the Hollybush as we do quite regularly. Ordered our food at the bar as usual, we had to repeat the order a few times before it was correct. We had to wait a bit longer than normal for the food to arrive. When it did come there were a number of mistakes, such as mashed potato instead of boiled potato or garden peas instead of mushy peas. My battered cod and chips arrived there was hardly any batter on the fish and it was rather small. I asked a member of staff whether this was the right meal, she then brought one of the kitchen staff over and they both insisted that the meal was correct. They then said 'what do you expect us to do about it', in a voice that showed very little interest in my reply.As a diabetic, by now I was feeling a bit shaky, I decided to cut my losses and eat what I had in front of me. A couple of us noted that the food could have been hotter.I will not order the battered cod and chips again in a hurry. This was the worst meal I have had here. It is a pity this is normally an excellent pub with good food and staff, perhaps I caught them on a bad day?

Fab service, great food and lovely atmosphere! 10/10, would recommend to everyone, one of the nicest places we have visited and ticks all boxes.

The Hollybush is our local pub and has great staff, very reasonably priced food which is always excellent, and a good atmosphere. There are karaoke nights and sometimes live music too. Always very welcoming.

We used to visit this little pub regularly and loved the atmosphere unfortunately new owners have arrived and it's gone down hill, staff are less friendly and owners put little effort into pulling new customers such as Halloween party and so on

This is pub is absolutely brilliant for couples, family, friends and business. Vist here quite regularly and the staff are always helpful and will go out of their way to help their customers. Food is nothing less than brilliant and always well presented; plus excellent value for money.Drinks are good value too. Will definitely be going here again.

Decided to pay this little pub a visit and kind of wish we didnt.. We ordered our food chicken tikka masala with rice and an extra naan.. salmon hollandaise with new potatoes.. and the beast burger with extra sour cream.. Wait time was reasonable however when the dishes arrived the tikka was half and half my daughter is not a fan of chips the salmon had 3 potatoes and the beast came without the coleslaw and onion rings mot a problem for the coleslaw but to miss my onion rings and sour cream I had to ask where the onion rings and sour cream were the staff were not at all attentive and it wasnt even busy needless to say another eating place ticked off never to return again

have tried several times for an evening meal pleased on each occasion typical pub menu but seems to have a little touch of something always fairly quick service with well cooked and presented food at reasonable costnothing special just pleasant food at a realistic cost,decor could d with a makeover

I live locally but don't go into the Hollybush often. I visited a couple of times in the past few days and won't do so again. The atmosphere is slightly threatening and definitely unpleasant. The clientele are (generally, not all) some of the more unpleasant people you're likely to meet in Cardiff pubs. Maybe they don't fight with each other all the time but they sure don't like new faces. Steer well clear.

Food was OK , Typical of a Crown Carvery.The pub could do with a jolly good clean.Thick dust on the skirting`s and woodwork, chair pads badly stained. Not enough staff ,tables left uncleared. We won`t be going back.

Just had an excellent lunch, great food, great value, great service. The food is well cooked, served hot and is well presented. They keep a good pint of beer, well worth a visit. Well done to Laura and all her staff, keep up the good work.

If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a festive meal you would have to go a long way to better the food you can here. The new landlady and her staff supplied me, my wife and our friends with a fantastic festive three course meal. The table looked wonderful all decorated for the festive season and it complemented the food. Everything was well cooked and well presented and served by efficient and attentive staff.well done everyone.

Been here a few times with my boyfriend, needless to say this was our LAST visit. Just as we arrived my boyfriend went to the toilet, so I proceeded to the bar to order our carverys and drinks, ordered one pint of Stella and a large Pepsi, he asked if the Stella was for me and I said no, it's for my boyfriend but I have my ID and he's just in the toilet.. I was obviously expecting the barman to just make my Pepsi and wait for my boyfriend to come back(I was the only person at the bar) next thing you know the guy runs from behind the bar into the toilets and asks my boyfriend for his ID??? In my opinion I find this very, very weird.. He couldn't of waited a minute?? Also in gents toilets they don't tend to use the cubicles so it's just a bit strange how he would approach my boyfriend asking for ID whilst he's using the toilet..... The staff are all grumpy, every time I've been I have felt unwelcome. Was glad to get out of there. Could hear chefs swearing and messing around with eachother (we were sat in the booth opposite their section) our last also the same bald guy and another waiter were both shouting across the room having a conversation with eachother whilst me and my boyfriend were sat in the middle of it. Completely oblivious and these people do not give a damn about the customers.

I attend the pub regularly. I have business lunches there and took my wife there last night for a meal and a few drinks. It's excellent value with good standard fare. Early week some of the beer seems to be reduced and the two for a tenner food range is very good. They really make an effort with families too. Good stuff. We need more oh a like this.

First time here.Excellent value for money.It was busy,but the food was good.Good choice of meats etc I opted for the pie as it looked really good.It tasted as good as it looked.Will call again.

This pub gets extremely busy serving meals - breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner - all at extremely reasonable prices. Choose from a carvery to an eclectic mix from the extensive menu. Situated on the quieter outskirts of Cardiff, it nonetheless is highlypopular.

Pop in on a saturday afternoon to watch the rugby you couldnt hear the telly because there was kids running the pub and service was rubbish

Not bad, better than a buffet and cheaper too but not as tasty as some places i have been too,Its worth a visit if you like toby style places.

This pub is great local pub. We have lived in this area for over 30 years and it is only since Stuart Giggs took over this pub have we started going there. Good hot food, good portions, well presented and at prices to suit everyone. Stuart also keeps a good pint of beer and according to my wife the wine is good.
