An average Sunday Lunch with the Beef being good and the Roast Pork very poor and stringy (they need sharper knives to serve that pork). We were very disappointed by the dessert supposedly a Knickerbocker Glory but got a glass of ice cream with two quarter strawberries and a few vary hard fudge pieces. Never had a Knickerbocker glory with so little fruit. Gorcott Hill is alittle out of teh way and this lunch was not worth the effort as very average.

Have not been back to the Hollybush for several years, & thought it about time to revisit, and decided on a Sunday Roast. Unfortunately a little disappointed. The “specials” were very much pub table not restaurant on a Sunday. Staff & service was very good with a cheerful attitude by all. Starter was excellent, 5 star, however the main course was very ordinary & nothing to shout home about, would suggest a little better than a Toby carvery. Atmosphere very nice. Enjoyed the staff & surroundings, shame about the the main course, will be some time before returning.

A very pleasant place to visit - a bit bland but newly renovated I think. The location is nice and quiet and I imagine on a nice evening it would be really pleasant to sit outside. The food was very good and served in a timely fashion. Most of the staff very pleasant but it did take nearly 25 minutes for my order to be taken after some staff were prompted !! The order was taken reluctantly without smiles as if I was a nuisance !!?? Shame as their laziness spoils a decent restaurant.

Family of 9 get together for Sunday lunch. A good selection on the menu. Most had the trio of roast British meats. A very tasty meal with fresh vegetables and mini deserts with an hot drink to finish. The whole experience was very good complimented with friendly attentive staff . We were seated in a quiet area with seating for 10, like our own private dining room. We will definitely return.

Just had another Sunday roast here with 5 others, not sure what is going on with Hollybush but this time the food was not as favourable as my previous visit. Three had the chicken roast one went back to the kitchen for being under cooked, one other the chicken was tough. The two beef were good but as our previous Sunday visit, the place was virtually empty at 2pm! Seems a bit inconsistent plus I've noticed the owners don't seem to respond to any reviews so not sure if they care! My Previous Review--- lovely roast dinner here & compared to our last visit a couple of months ago, the quality & size of portion we were served with this time was far superior! Maybe my previous negative review was seen & the owners/chef "tweaked" the servings a bit, either way a great meal with excellent 👌 service, thank you.

Used to be a lovely country pub with good food . Now looks same as any other pub. Went for lunch only 4 other people in the place. Not surprised as a pepsi and tomato juice was £8!. Main courses upwards of £16. Had fish pakora and chicken tikka and lamb kofta balls starter dishes. Both were quite good. Two servers served! Relatively easy to find, car park in the front and back of the venue. The place is decorated well and facilities are clean and tidy. Ambience is good and dog friendly. Food was average for me unfortunately, I had the glenfiddit ham and it was overcooked, my other parties food was good I was told, they had beef ribs, salmon and the Shawarma. The lady brought the foods to us was pleasant but the lady who took our order is not, could do with a smile and upsale a bit, we asked for recommendations on portion size, did not get the response I was looking for, merely a 'shrug of shoulder'. The main course portion was massive in general, would be good to see the porton size a bit smaller and charge maybe a few pounds less as the price is a bit on the expensive side.

Booked around 2 weeks ago for a party of 14 people for last night, for a special celebration. Arrived to be told our booking had been cancelled despite calling them a couple days before to confirm and pay a deposit. On raising our frustrations we were met with arrogance, sarcasm and rudeness particularly by the male waiter who treated us like it was our fault. We were then offered to 'squeeze' on 3 separate tables, 2 tables for 4 and a table for 2 or 3 for 14 people! The waitresses attempted to change the tone of the arrogance of the waiter and apologise but sadly too late. Luckily Meadow Farm were able to push some tables together and accommodate all 14 of us to sit together and we did manage our celebrations, all be it late. Unfortunately this wasn't an isolated incident as had been the month before for a family birthday and although the food was lovely, we were still met with the same rudeness of this waiter then. Why be in a customer service position if you're not a people person? Safe to say we won't be trusting them again with our family gatherings. Nice food but organisation and lack of people skills really let the place down. UPDATE: Thank you for your response Jon but unfortunately you can't tell me we cancelled online as it was booked by telephone so did not have an online booking. I see the tone of all of your responses is negative, always with sarcasm and always blaming the customer, which appears to be a top down ethos of the Hollybush. Such a shame!

Came here for Mother’s Day - my daughter’s treat to me - the place is lovely the atmosphere was lovely and the service was second to none. It was incredibly busy but still the attention from staff was good. However, the food, although a very good standard it was cold and the roast potatoes weren’t good at all due to being cold. It did leave me a little disappointed but I accepted that due to how busy it was I knew why. I would go back again to try it on a not so busy day.

We went on Mother’s Day , food was average at best, the so called beef dripping garlic roasted potatoes were terrible, they were rock hard and tasted like they were cooked yesterday and had been re heated. A proper chef wouldn’t have plated them up and sent them out to customers. Hardly any gravy on my dinner, would’ve thought a gravy boat for the table would be a good idea as then you can decide yourself how much gravy you want. Also the dinner was only luke warm, when you are paying nearly £25 for a roast dinner I expect better. The waitresses were pleasant enough and the service was good, frequently coming over and asking if we wanted any drinks. We sat near the fire, which unfortunately wasn’t on, it would have been nice if it was as it wasn’t very warm in there and considering it was cold and raining outside it would have warmed the place up and made it a bit more cosy and inviting. Finally I had paid a deposit when I booked the meal, but when the bill came this hadn’t been taken off, so be careful to check the bill! All in all a disappointing experience which has put me and my family off from returning

We booked a table for 4 at 12.30pm for Mothers Day. I received a message prior to the day to say we only had our table until 2.00pm. When we arrived we decided to have 2 courses from the special Mothers Day menu. We waited 25 minutes for the main course which was understandable as we weren’t having a starter. The food was very nice but the service wasn’t great at all. We felt like we were being rushed so they could have the table back asap for the next booking as they were busy. When you are spending £40 a head you expect to receive good service and not rushed along. We appreciated it was Mothers Day and they were very busy but felt very uncomfortable at being rushed. My partners main course was cleared away when he hadn’t even finished. My family have been there 6 times and have never been rushed like today. We spoke to the Manager who replied “well we did contact you and advise you, you could only have the table for an hour and a half. Yet on the website it clearly stated we could have the table for 2 hours. Sadly it was not a great experience and my mum and my brother who have been there 6 times and live locally said it has now put them off and they won’t be returning. What was meant to be a special day did not feel that sadly and could have been handled more professionally.

We booked in for lunch in the restaurant. On arrival we were a little disappointed that the restaurant wasn't open and we were seated in the bar, but not a big deal really. Parking is plentiful and the spaces are bigger than most. The staff are lovely and service fantastic. Drinks arrived quickly and nothing was too much trouble. The pub itself is bright and airy and feels like a nice place to be. The food was the best we have eaten in a while (my partner had the beef rib and I had the crispy pork noodles). Both absolutely perfect. Dessert was tasty too. I had the mini dessert and coffee and the cake was as big as I would have expected for a standard size dessert. Sundae was lovely but perhaps a little overpriced for what it is. That is being picky though, overall it was all pretty great. We can't wait to come back.

This was our 3rd time visiting The Holly Bush and unfortunately I don't fancy returning any time soon. The front of house service was great as usual and our food was delicious. However, about 10 minutes after ordering, the friendly atmosphere was well and truly shattered by screaming and swearing coming from the kitchen. It seems there was an issue with one of the chefs portioning - frustrating I'm sure, but the abuse and foul language that was (extremely loudly) hurled their way was appalling. The kitchen opens directly onto the bar, so I would assume the chef would be well aware that their rant could be heard throughout. The front of house staff looked mortified although nothing was mentioned. I have worked in rosette awarded kitchens both in the UK and abroad and I am well aware of the pressure and stresses that come along with the job, however a Thursday lunchtime with only two tables isn't my idea of a difficult service. I left professional kitchens and hospitality as a whole because of chefs and managers with abusive attitudes and was hopeful that times were changing, unfortunately it seems not here. Incredibly disappointing.

It was a last minute decision to dine out and a quick call to reserve seats for within half an hour was successful. There was enough parking space, and the environment was quiet and neat. The atmosphere was good. There was provision for children and toddlers and also for Wheelchair users. The staff were friendly, polite, cautious, and caring. There were couple of trainee staffs of which they all did brilliantly in ensuring timely cleaning and quick awareness of what is going on around. A bit of wait for starter to arrived but it was well worth the wait as cleaned up the plates. We had 2 chicken Tenders with Memphis BBO, Cheesy Nachos with Tomato Salsa and Carrot + Cucumber sticks + Sour Cream, Sticky BBQ Pork Ends and Holly Bush Chicken Wings. For Main course, we had Fish Bites + Chips, Peas + Ketchup, Tomato & Cheese Pizza, Slow Roasted Pork Belly and French Fries & Salads as a sides. The dessert was a top notch as we munched through Warm Cookies + Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate Brownie + Ice Cream, Vanilla Milkshake and Banafee Milkshake. I'm recommending The Hollybush Inn for patronage.

Ok, so that I don’t get a load of defensive abuse from the owner , I will try and put this carefully and gently. Firstly, lovely staff, pleasant and attentive. Chicken supreme was dry and overloaded with garlic, so I could not eat it. Brought it back for the cat. Please don’t reply saying you watched us on CCTV as that is incredibly invasive and my husband did have a few goes at it and agreed it was dry . I did complain to one waitress who simply said sorry about that.. fair enough. I don’t usually complain on TA, but maybe it was late on a Sunday and we had the tail end of the food and I made the wrong choice ??? A shame as other reviews were pretty good which was why we tried it.

REPLY TO OWNERS RESPONSE In reply to the owners comment following my review, I can categorically say that that wasn't what your waitress informed us back at the table after she'd spoken to the chef. So perhaps it wasn't made clear to her or she didn't understand and relayed it back incorrectly. Therefore my daughter, who's birthday we were celebrating and who has the gluten allergy, then felt very restricted on what she'd have liked to eat - both for her starter and the main course - due to the incorrect information given from the waitress. -----‐--------------------‐-----------------------------‐---------- We recently enjoyed a lovely meal at The Hollybush. The only concern we had, which was a major concern for us was the limited knowledge that the chef had regarding his gluten free items. My daughter has a gluten/celiac allergy and asked about an item on the menu that stated it was gluten free. After the waitress went to check with the chef to find out whether the gf option was fried in the same oil as the non gf option, the chef told her that it was fried in the same oil as the gluten is burnt off/destroyed by the heat over 180°. Seriously.......had someone taken the chef at his word who had a gf allergy then this would have made them seriously ill. It is known that the temperature needed to destroy gluten are so high that the food would be burned, charred and inedible.....so definitely not at 180°. Please get your chef to take more interest in the options you are claiming to be gf when some of them clearly aren't.

I'd love to give this place a 5, it's SO close. The problem is you have so many 5 star experiences, punctuated by the occasional 3 when you eat at the Holly Bush. The last but one time is a case in point. The food was fantastic flavour wise - I had roast beef and my wife had fish - the problem was the size of the fish portion. It was a shade bigger than my thumb, embarrassingly small and I couldn't see how anyone could justifiably put it in front of a customer. When we drew the waitresses attention to it she said "oh yes, a few people have said that, I'll let the chef know", when what was required was a bit more fish! I dont want to diss the place too much, we've had many great experiences there, and you're likely to have one too. It's just that there are real issues with rectifying something when it goes wrong. The managers replies on here hint at the underlying cause of that. So, John, this is for you. You don't need to defend yourself or try to convince a complainant that they're wrong (people reading negative reviews can normally detect someone who's simply never happy). People accept that things go wrong sometimes, when someones not happy, take it on the chin, apologise and make a peace offering. Some of your responses on here lower your dignity and professionalism, when clearly you're a very capable restaurateur - stand by that! We'll look forward to our next meal with you.

Nice country pub which is well known for its food, though I haven't tried it. The interior is quite modern, not a traditional 'old man' pub in that respect. When I visited there were two cask ales on: Butty and a Wye Valley brew, both were nice and fresh, well looked after pints. There is also an extensive beer garden. This would be a nice place to drive out to for a meal.

Went and had drink and food there sat 13/05/23. Eat in the bar as we had our dog with us. Ordered glass of Prosecco and when it was only 3/4 full we asked for it to be topped up - only to be faced with bar maid giving us strange looks and saying that’s all I can give you !!!! Really don’t think it was even 125 ml and costing £7+ - disgusting. We ordered food - which was good tbh but - again faced with bar maid “dumping” plates in front of us and walking off. Didn’t ask if we would like sauces etc. we had to ask!!! We are quite disgusted to bd treated this way - if the barmaids don’t want the job - don’t do it!! We’re paying good money for food and drink only to bd treated appalling. We will be frequenting the winged spur for future dinings - much more atmosphere and bar staff much more welcoming. Quite disgusted with this venue.

I hadn't been here for over 30 years ! Sadly we were attending a funeral for a lifetime family friend , having said that, the refurbishment was incredible as was the service and food ! 5 stars not a problem, keep up the good work, thanks again to all the staff and management at The Hollybush Inn !

Wow! We live in Buckinghamshire but was visiting our family from Bilston for a farm trip locally (Attwell Farm) and your pub looked like it would be a great fit …truly wonderful meal…a great welcome with accommodating, friendly staff - great food and wonderful service. We tipped extra…a fantastic find and highly recommend.

Well what a fantastic find. Lovely Gaston pub. Four school friends out for a catch up. The staff were fantastic, really attentive. We all had the fish & chips which was excellent. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Possibly the worst pub lunch I have ever had. Steak sandwich sunk in gunk. Coleslaw looked & tasted awful, it was a mash of aged goo. The other 3 guests was scarcely any better. Fish sandwiches tasteless and over cooked. Chips tasteless without heaps of salt.. Bonus strands in my daughters peas was also a nice touch. Staff nice. Restaurant was also cold. Apart from that though......

Four of us went for Dinner here a week ago. A warm and very friendly welcome from the staff, superb pre dinner drinks and then the meal. Chicken wings as a shard starter were as good as I have eaten anywhere. I had the curry - it was perfect, better than my local Indian, brilliant flavours. We all had a different dish and they were all tasty and well presented. This pub has definitely upped its game - we can't wait to go back.

A thoroughly lovely evening in a restaurant/pub which took us all completely by surprise! The class of this place; the staff, the decor, the food and drink, etc. was all top drawer. I was "challenged" to find a place within easy reach of Bromsgrove/Redditch that was not only going to be of reasonable quality but wouldn't break the bank. We met here with friends for dinner (hadn't seen them since before the first lock down!) after a Worcestershire Local recommendation, and they got it spot on. A succinct but well thought out and wide ranging menu, which allowed for all tastes and preferences, included all the usual favourites (burgers, ribs, steak, fish and chips etc.) but also dared to temp and stretch the usual fare by offering such things as hand dived scallops, mussels and fresh fish of the day (Sole this evening) and a beef cheek "stew" which was spectacular to say the least. So, a couple of rounds of drinks, a couple of shared starters, Four mains and desert and coffee, under £140. You can't say fairer than that. The brief was well and truly met. We will re-visit soon but I'm rather hoping to find it harder to get a table. The Holly Bush deserves to be the go to establishment in Worcs/Warks, it really is that good.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely staff. We had the Sunday roast - which was great - but I really need to highlight the selection of bread we had as a starter. The sourdough focaccia was FABULOUS! I wish I could use my sourdough starter to bake such amazing thing at home. My compliments to the chef and all the staff!!!

A lovely pub that go the extra mile to create a welcoming atmosphere, even providing complementary nibbles during the England matches. Good food and dog friendly - what more could you ask for! 😊

We attended a reunion party in the pubs separate function room earlier in the month. The team laid on a special “in a basket” menu which was both well delivered and priced. We decided to visit again for a spot of lunch in the bar / restaurant the following week. My better ‘alf is a veggie and despite the general view that the veggie brigade is expanding .. it’s surprising how many pub/ gastros merely have a single consolation veg. Option on the menu these days . HOWEVER the golden Cross offered several 😎 varied choices . The” Lady minister for all important decisions “. Settled on the veggie pie of the day - i went full hog and went for the home made faggots. I have to say the food was prepared with care , the portion size - proper!! In short . We really enjoyed it . Oh! And the service smily and attentive. Safe to say we’ll be back

Poor in comparison to what it originally was some years ago when privately owned. We thought the food was very average and somewhat overcooked, prices high both for drinks and food. Very nice inside and a good atmosphere, friendly staff but that I am afraid is where it ends, Certainly would not rush back or recommend
