Amazing service and meal. I had the chicken tikka masala ½ chips½rice with a naan bread and mango chutney It was out of this world and probably one of the best things I've ever tasted I recommend coming here for an amazing meal and plus the staff are friendly

Went today 5 of us, myself and partner had the sunday roast (beef), and the boys all had smash burgers. Delicious food enjoyed by all, very polite staff and great service. I cant personally comment on the bugers as i didnt eat those but the boys all polished off thier plates and said they were delicious, myself and partners roasts were great everything was delicious the yorkshire pud and roasties were spot on for me😊. Messaged them on facebook this afternoon at short notice to book a table, they messaged back straight away and managed to fit us in which I appreciated, servers were great we were not left waiting for anything at all, place was clean tidy and overall a great sunday had there by us all, will 100% return, and would highly reccomend.

Arrived at 12.00 for lunch I was only having soup and it took until 13.30 to be served and I had chosen soup of the day when it arrived it was chilli soup whoever heard of chilli soup I then asked about having my dessert as I had to go and pick grandson from school and dessert that took until 14.40 which I asked to have in a takeaway box very disappointing

out party of about 16 people booked into the holly bush for lunch, we arrived at aprox 12.30, we waited fi=or the first course , i had garlic mushrooms not goog , bland no taste, ater nearly an hour wait for the main course, it finally came , i had the Steak and Ale pie, the meat was tough the chips and veg were cold, i left mine becuase it was unedable, the waitress was told by a lot of people the food was cold, most left if , then after another 45 mins we asked where the desserts were , she said they would not be long, so most of the group walked out just paid for what they had, i waited for my dessert Apple Pie and custard, the custard was lumpy, i would never recommend the holly bush, what a way to run a place to eat, when i asked to see manager , i was told he was sick,

I was having a crap day and took myself out for food and had no idea I’d just missed out but Becky was so lovely and still made me a lovely lasagne and served me anyway which absolutely made my day and can’t wait to come back again, especially as I now know there’s music on Thursdays and there’s vegan options for friends plus dog friendly!

It's been a few weeks since we were there, we used to go every few weeks, but I'm sure that due to the increase in cost of alcoholic drinks, not that we had a lot of it one thing I am sure of is we won't be back.

Four of us had a meal at Hollybush on Wednesday lunchtime all agreed food was lovely, 3 had the liver and I had the Crispy beef salad which was really tasty! We will defo be returning.

We were a party of ten. The menu is very comprehensive and not the generic 'pub food' offering that many offer. The staff were extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

Came here with my mum for an early birthday meal and it was lovely. The lunch bites are cheaper and are a hearty good-portioned meal. The summer crumble was delicious. (They had Old Mout Cider too, which was the chefs kiss, a good pub in my books). The atmosphere and decorations were simply devine, feels historical and full of warmth. Would highly recommend!

Such a clean, friendly, welcoming pub. We were served promptly and chose to sit outside. The outdoor seating area was a riot of colour, with fantastic flowers and shrubs. We spent a happy hour just admiring the gorgeous blooms.

Well I used to visit here at least once a fortnight,but never again.it feels cold unclean and uninviting.the pate that used to be homemade was most definitely not.The mushroom soup was like weetabix,and the chippers need a good clean.This is not the family friendly eatery it once was.i have been told it is under new management.a real snake up is needed.

First time back since a change of ownership and disappointed the menu is much the same, does not stand out among all the other pub restaurants all serving much the same menu.

Wow where do I begin! I have lived and traveled all over the world and I can HONESTLY say that this was the worst experience I have encountered. My wife and I decided to go for a quiet meal after work in this family friendly pub (Not). We arrived at 5.50pm and was sat at a table for 2 by the bar. We ordered our drinks and food. As soon as we had ordered there was 2 females a male and a young male adult started swearing, shouting and talking loudly of subjects of a sexual nature. Absolutely vile language!!! Not once did a member of staff ask them to STOP!!! My wife's meal was undercooked and had to be sent back., both meals were very salty. We could not finish quickly enough as we felt so UNCOMFORTABLE!!! When we went to pay we noticed a family who had young children (who would have heard every vile comment). When paying a member of staff apologised, saying sorry yes they were a bit loud this evening. NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A SO CALLED FAMILY PUB!!!!

Me, my brother, my Dad and my Mum came to the Hollybush for a meal tonight for Father’s Day as we won’t be able to celebrate tomorrow. We have been before and had high expectations. We were sat down at the table for 6.30pm, and we had ordered at around 6.50. I am vegan myself, and so I ordered the flatbreads with a selection of dips for me and my brother to share for a starter, which was marked as vegan (as seen on the image attached), as well as the vegan burger. When this starter was brought out, I asked to check that all the dips were vegan too. The waiter, Michael, returned to inform us that none of the starter was actually suitable for vegans at all, as informed by the chef - it should be noted that this was removed from the bill, but this is still very poor nonetheless to mark a starter as vegan when it is, in fact, not. By no means was this Michael’s fault, I would just like to make this clear. Also, this does make me wonder how many vegans have ordered this same starter and have eaten it without realising that it is not suitable for vegans. Once we had finished our starters, it then took over half an hour before our food was brought out and we were given little explanation as to why this was. Many other tables received their mains before us despite being sat down after us. When eating our meals, we were not asked once how our meals were. The staff were very attentive at first but this did seem to dwindle a little a bit towards the end. The vegan burger was okay, my Brother’s steak was not cooked as asked, but my parents’ seemed to enjoy their meals. A few of the drinks were removed from the bill, which did show that our poor experience had been taken into account. It was a very disappointing experience all around, and we definitely will not be looking at coming back. It should also be noted that there are a limited amount of vegan options for dessert, with there only being vegan vanilla ice cream. Our previous experience was absolutely fantastic, back in February, but we were ever so disappointed and felt a bit pushed aside during our time in the Hollybush tonight, feeling as though priorities were elsewhere.

Genuinely terrible service, had to chase drinks, food arrived cold as it had been sat under the heat lamp for a time. Naan breads could only have been intended for hammering in nails. Not once were we asked if our meals were okay. Had to wait for cutlery after meal arrived while waiter hovered around with table full of ladies. Avoid when busy as understaffed

Inviting and well planned out pub and seating. A big choice on the menu and specials board made choosing tricky but in the end the Tikka Curry was excellent, spicy but not too hot! The rest of our party enjoyed their food choices and it was all reasonably priced. Finally big thank you for the lovely compliment about my hair style - it made my night!

I took a friend to have a dinner on Thursday evening on 30th May 2024. The place was not crowded when we arrived and so did not have to wait long for the service. We had garlic bread and lager to start with and my friend had a steak dinner and I had the scampi.The staff were friendly and the restaurant area was clean. The price was reasonable

Enjoyed a light lunch with friends. The waiter was very friendly, helpful and informative. He took his time to chat with us, made us feel very welcome. He also gave us a detailed list of places to see/visit/ explore, in and around wrexham as it was our first time in the city.

Our second visit to the Hollybush and hopefully the last. The food is poor and the service abysmal. What is advertised on the menu as a "smash burger" is actually a regular double burger. As a result, it's overcooked. The chips are nothing to write home about and the coleslaw is disgusting. Service was rushed and we had to order our meals in advance, which was a massive red flag. As other reviews have mentioned, we were not offered desserts, so at the end of the meal we just sat there waiting for something to happen. It seems like a wasted opportunity to not offer desserts to a large booking. The venue is completely devoid of any atmosphere and I genuinely do not understand why some people seem to rate it so highly.

Lovely pub and they squeezed us in last minute. The staff were lovely but after we had finished our mains they just left us with the plates on the table. We'd promised the kids dessert but we had waited so long, we ended up just paying (when we still had some plates on the table) and taking the kids for a mcflurry. Little disappointing as it was a lovely restaurant.

Food was wonderful and a lovely friendly atmosphere. Pub is getting a lick of paint and the parts that are finished are looking fab. Can't wait to see it all completed.

Being Gluten free it's very hard to find somewhere to eat that does a bit of everything. Having a partner who eats everything. We frequently eat there and the Gluten free fish and chips is delicious. Hollybush staff asked if there is anything I'd like. to give chef Steve couple of days notice and maybe he could prepare. We took advantage and decided to treat ourselves not go shopping for week and book table for 3 days running. I was not disappointed Steve the chef prepared gluten free steak and ale pie. Pasta carbonate with a twist of extras. And lamb mint sizzler . Everything was so tasty. Thank you Steve for being so accomadating really enjoyed it And the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will be a regular treat from now on. Thank you so much.

i came to meet some friends yesterday for tea. i arrived at around 7:45 and their kitchen closed at 9. i was told they had basically closed the kitchen. only thing they offered was a bowl of chips? i don’t get why they closed off pretty much the whole kitchen an hour before it shut, and 3 hours before the pub shuts. my friends told me that when they arrived the person who served them didn’t seem happy that we hadn’t booked when the place was absolutely dead. they had their drinks plonked down in front of them with attitude. we were planning on staying for a few drinks but left because we felt like us being there an inconvenience. however aside from this we do have to say the food was very good. we ordered a beef sizzler and the beef was tender, came with a brilliant portion of chips, rice and salad! and the sauce was good. the chicken burger was lovely!

Visited Friday 22nd 7 diners and Monday 25th march 8 diners. On both occasions food and service was excellent and value for money. Michael on Monday gave excellent service, great front of house representative. Sorry didn't get names of staff from Friday's. Would definitely recommend.

Where do you start booked table for my self and mum /sister for catch up been coming here for years for family get togethers as soon as walked in didnt get chance to take coat off what would you like to drink. Waitress brought drinks over do you know what youd like hadnt had chance to look at menu. We ordered soup to start no taste.Ask waitress oh wheres the lady with short hair and other guy with short black hair she said oh they dt work here anymore. Said to family doesnt seem the same here it was all rush rush no sooner finished soup our main was straight out i had welsh beef roast really 1 carrot tablespoon of red cabbage 1 new potatoe 2 roast potato beef that was thin 1 slice yorkie gravy. Sister had beef garlic mushroom sizzler really mum had fish chips unreal. I said to the people on the next table what is this has it been taking over, they said yes you could tell the food wad nothing like we have had for years from there service rush rush. Complained when waitress come to get plates half of the food was left. Serious wont be going back. Manager came over gave mum 50% off.And apologies. We will never be again been going for years and always had 100%meal service and lovely staff. What a shame Holly bush was 100%. Food and service unreal

Popped in for lunch today, greeted by friendly staff who were very attentive throughout. Food was served very quickly, and was lovely. The pub was very clean, great atmosphere. No faults at all. Enjoyable visit, will definitely go back. Highly recommended

Waited 40 mins for the food to arrive. Asked for steak burger to be medium cooked. It came very well done and dry. Very disappointed. Won't be going again

Visited Monday lunch time in a party of six, received great service and everyone was happy with the standard of their meals, it was very busy for a Monday lunch service.

Went for a meal to the hollybush last night six of us I had a mixed grill. Best mixed grill I ever had to be honest. We all loved the food.

Food was nice. The mixed grill was very filling. Meat was cooked how I asked (thanks chef Steve!!!). My only criticism, and I have this in 80% of other places I visit is frozen chips. Scrap them guys and get some proper potatos! We were served by Michael who's very friendly, helpful and full of energy. He's easy to catch because you hear him before you see him 🤣🤣🤣 I know Michael from 2 other pubs and he's a hygiene freak & wouldn't work somewhere with a minging kitchen, so that's a good sign!

Lasagne pretty bland and dry.found a piece of plastic in it so put me off,couldn't eat the rest,told a member of staff who said she would tell the chef.that was it,no money knocked off bill,nothing.wont be returning

Visited here today for sunday lunch and it was such a lovely place. The staff went above and beyond. We had my little brother with us who is 4 and has different needs, the staff could not do enough. Even ensured none of his food was touching and brought out crayons and colouring sheets to keep him stimulated. There was a young lady in particular whose name we did not catch who understood and was absolutely amazing. So we would like to say thank you to this young lady lady and all the staff tomos will be returning xxx

Can't fault it why go anywhere else

This place was one of our favourite places for Sunday lunch but after yesterday's experience we were so disappointed we booked the table for 2pm at2.20 one of us had to go to the bar to get someone to take our orders then a 25 min wait for the set lunches to arrive this was poor with only one small new potato along with three roasters peas one sprig of broccoli and shredded red cabbage gravey and cabbage water poor after we finished we asked for dessert menu had to ask another waitress as first didn't come back we ordered bread and butter pudding with custard so vile we couldn't eat it never seen custard so runny and no flavour at all Definitely NOT going to visit here in the foreseeable future

Service was very poor Waited nearly an hour after our order was taken Some of the veg was frozen not fresh as it used to be & a lot smaller portions Then had to ask the waiter to come & take our dessert order then had to wait another 25 minutes but a waitress did come to our table to apologise for the wait 2 of my friends ordered dessert with custard - the custard had no sugar in We were NOT impressed with the new management We will not be going again unless they improve greatly

My third time coming here and the first two times were wonderful but this time just really wasn’t it. Idk if they have changed chefs or something but my chicken burger was overcooked, as well as the fact that I had asked for nothing on it and it came out with cheese all over the chicken. The fries were overdone and I had to add a lot of salt to get any flavour at all when eating them. Very disappointed

Use this pub all the time, but recent visit left me disappointed with service. Not enough staff on the floor and had to go to the bar for drinks and sweet. Other tables suffered with poor service - hopefully just a staffing problem on this visit

I use the venue regularly and love the place. Today service very poor and the next table waited ages just for drinks. Sadly need to look somewhere else to eat.

I had the fish and chips, the fish was white and the chips were gorgeous, my husband had lasagne, garlic bread and salad, for dessert we had bread and butter pudding with chocolate chips, I had custard and my husband ice cream. I highly recommend it, staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Always enjoy the food here. We were a bit disappointed with the portions on our last visit. Halloumi sizzler had only 3 pieces of cheese, chicken burger was 1 small fillet. Tasted lovely, but it wasn't off the early bird menu so paid full price.

Decided to eat here because my wife needed to eat gluten free. Felt quite assured by the server that the food would be ok and the chips are cooked separately. Overall we had a good experience with very large portions. It was a very quiet night being a Monday so were well looked after by Cat and Matty. Will go again.

Recommend by son & partner for a birthday celebration. . Despite arriving early the service was very slow, place started to fill with families so we didn’t mind the wait. My wife and I chose the “famous steak and ale pie I’m not sure what arrived a while later it appeared to be a beef casserole and a piece of rectangular uncooked pastry. I asked the server what it was supposed to be he took it back to who ever prepared it , I was informed it was steamed pastry in all the years I have eaten around the world I have never came across anything like it , totally inedible my granddaughter Mac and cheese had all appearance of evostick glue & the consistency of chewing gum , we decided on a pudding to finish after waiting for 40 minutes we gave up hope of getting it , imagine my surprise when I came to pay the bill even though we’d cancelled it .has a parting shot our server commented to come back again, my reply was not in this lifetime

The service was great, attentive and friendly staff. We both enjoyed a well cooked, well presented main and dessert. The amount of food and the price gave good value for money. Nice to see a restaurant giving an ample proportion, rather than charging a huge price for a huge amount I'm never going to eat. We had several soft drinks, the lime cordial was excellent quality rather than the cheap wishy washy quality often served elsewhere. The hot drinks were generous quantity. The table and cutlery were spotless, the toilets very clean. Really enjoyed it, will definitely call again.

Thought we'd drop in for a quick bite to eat whilst passing and I'm so glad we did 😊 A roaring fire and the warmest of greetings, can't go wrong with that for a start 😊 As for the food, we both opted for the rump steak ciabatta and a portion of the cheesy gourmet chips... absolutely delicious! Asked if ok for the steak to be medium and that's exactly what we got! Beautiful side salad and coleslaw on the side and the chips were scrumptious! I have to give a special mention for 'Mikey' what an absolute breath of fresh air! This really is the way you do it, the warmest welcome, the friendliest conversation... what an absolute gem, a real credit to your team😊 Looking forward to returning again soon, Thank You very much😊

15 of us from the Deeside Oddfellows thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the Hollybush on Thursday 18th January 2024. We hadn't pre-ordered but the food was served quickly and with friendly, cheerful staff. It was tasty and plentiful and we shall definitely return. Highly recommend. I’m not one to leave reviews but I couldn’t not for our experience at the Holybush. I booked here for a surprise 30th birthday meal with over 30 guests and I just wanted to say how amazing everyone at the Holybush made it! The food was just absolutely outstanding, best meal we have had in a long time and the staff were equally outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble at all and everything just went so smoothly from start to finish because of them. The service we all received was just exceptional, even prior to arriving, the correspondence back and too arranging everything was just made so easy and straightforward. I honestly could not recommend the Holybush enough, whether that’s a big booking, just a family or a couple. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed! Thank you all so very much for making it such a lovely evening. We will definitely be coming back and I can pretty much guarantee our other guests will be too!

Been a while since we've visited and we were delighted to find that it's now back to how it used to be. Service was nice prompt and friendly, portions were generous and very nice, unlike our last visit, fab keep it up we'll be back.

This review is for 2 separate visits. Visit 1: me and my daughter. All good. Food and service was great. No complaints at all. I had chicken and ribs, and it was huge! I was very pleased 😁 Visit 2: family party of 12 people. Sadly, I don't feel they coped well with this size party. The food delivery was a bit slow, and some of the meals could have been nicer (based on previous visit) we gave constructive feedback on one of the puddings, and they did take hat on board, which is what you would expect from such a venue. They also need a few more staff in general. Although they may have had some off sick? I would return, but not with large group. I'd suggest keeping numbers to 6-8, to ensure you get the best service/experience.

Came here xmas eve as we have done the past few years as the food is lovely and big portions.Unfortunately there was no effort to put table cloths down or actually lay the tables before we got there.We were just handed a mug with cutlery...

If your having mixed grill don't have a starter. Great dish well cooked and tasty. Couldn't finish it all. Had a sausage at home later. Burgers and Liver all good. Prawn cocktail starters good also. We will be back.

We had an amazing meal ,we came from chester too eat here after hearing the meals are so good and they were and didn't doissapoint . We had the burger and risotto steak and childrens mac and cheese all lovely . The service was great...

Poor service from the get go. Really slow to bring starters out which we're mediocre at best. When the mains come one in particular was inedible (fish that was smelly, tasted vile and definitely not fresh) and the others again, nothing more than mediocre. Clearly...

Just like to say had a spur of the moment idea to go for lunch at the Holly Bush on way home from shopping trip to Broughton, so glad we did. We had a,walk in,thankfully there was seats available for lunch. Food was amazing,I had the jacket potato, salad with mushroom and Stilton sauce 😋 omg it was delicious 😋 😍 👌 Hubby had Ham,egg,chips, tonnes of tasty thick cut ham,he loved it. Reasonable price's, service was friendly and food arrived piping hot and very quickly. Definitely recommend 👌 will return soon. Food is just top notch⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️plus..........

I've had lots of enjoyable meals here over the years but just had my first disappointing one since the change in ownership. Popped in for a late lunch with my sister...grateful they were able to accommodate us with being a walk in. I used to enjoy having the lighter scampi dish previously but noticed it wasn't listed anymore, just the full size. I asked if it would be possible to have the scampi as a light bite but with a jacket potato instead of the chips as not a huge fan of chips. Swapping was never a problem before. The waitress went to check with the chef then came back to say it was okay but as the jacket potatoes were big I could only have half of one. A little surprised but not wanting to be more of a nuisance and pick something else I said that'd be fine. When the food arrived I was even more surprised to see a small dish with 5 pieces of scampi in (always had at least 8 previously along with a side salad), a small pot of peas and the smallest jacket potato I've ever seen. Thank goodness it was a whole one at least and not half. No tartare sauce which I thought was a must with scampi so asked for some (unfortunately food was almost cold by the time it arrived). I was hungry so ate what I had but it would have been more enjoyable hot and if the portion had been the size it used to be, not a child size. My sister was also disappointed with her meal size. Food was tasty hence the 2 stars but just not enough of it, even for a lighter bite.

Starter mushrooms and garlic lovely had lasagne which would have made a good doorstop no sauce or layers of pasta very disappointed.told server who didn’t acknowledge my comment and also when I paid I mentioned and nothing acknowledged.

Sunday lunch was very disappointing , chewy beef . Small oval plates , no market place menu . Won't be recommending to friends as I always did previously .

The chicken was choowy and gross and it was a little rore but everything else was nice 👏 but I won't come back here

Had a very nice meal here. We all had different foods and we all enjoyed what we had. Service was very good. Plates were hot as they should be. Would definitely go back.

Lovely pub great food service great .

Beautiful food and lovely pub. Fitted us in at short notice as very busy Saturday night. Rump steak and Stilton mushroom sizzler was delicious.
