The Bells of St Marys in Flintshire

Stopped here for some lunch and it’s a gem of a place with great staff fantastic food and very affordable. The inside has a great detail with nice tucked away seating and looks fab inside ,well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed

When we arrived we were greeted by a member of staff , my partner is in a wheelchair and they were happy for us to try table to ensure that we were seated comfortably, the carvery was delicious and we even had dessert, staff made sure throughout out visit that everything was ok. A very enjoyable visit as we don't often go out for meals because of the difficulties faced by wheelchairs users, we will be sure to visit again.

Instant mash, bought in Yorkshire puddings, bland veg and only peas, carrots, an green beans on a Sunday aswell. My beef was full of fat. Gammon was nice. Not great food. Staff were friendly but we won't be back

Read some great reviews so thought we would pop down ourselves for the carvery. The turkey was fantastic and moist. The veg was amazing cooked to perfection in my eyes. The gravy was on of the best gravy I've had from a carvery. It was a lovely little spot for a nice quiet lunch. I would highly recommend. The staff were super friendly and helpful, job well done guys ! Defo will be coming back.

Love this place as been so many times when over the road at Presthaven in our touring caravan. We frequently use Stonehouse pubs and get to know quite a lot of staff. Nice to see JP here again, top manager

A little gem of a pub with little rooms with low beams and open fire places and on top off that a Mitchell and butler Stonehouse carvery with a great priced menu

Went for breakfast with Santa, good food. Shame there were no Christmas songs being played. Just didn't feel festive. Grandson enjoyed seeing Santa. Shame the gift wasn't a wrapped one, only a Stonehouse bag.

Had the best carvery meal I think I've ever had on Saturday.....only negative is that no carvery going forward will live up to it!! 🤣 I will be back! Please be the same 🤞🙏👍😋 promised a five star review as was very impressed.

Great little spot on the Coast. Upon ordering was informed there was a £6 offer on the carveries. Couldn't fault the place with prices like that.

2nd time and it's still not improved carvery only turkey available so had pizza ham pizza looked like it had been thrown around the kitchen compared to the other 2 we ordered burger dry no sauce on table NEVER AGAIN have learned my lesson waste of nearly £100 with drinks nice pub shame it's not run properly

I came with my family to have a carvery a couple days after Christmas. The food was delightful and staff were very warm and welcoming I would not change anything about the restaurant .We will definitely be coming back again

We had the carvery, it was good value for money, all guests enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. A big thank you to the team member Hannah for the warm welcome and excellent service! Would go here again .

i had a very delightful experience with the staff, they were all happy to help as we hadn't been in before, the food was superb! and the menu choices/options were awesome… i specifically had a very nice encounter with a lovely lady at the bar “hannah” she was more than kind and poured me a very good pint :) highly recommend.

Meal was lovely fifh and chips but £5.00 for a tiny tub of ice cream and then u have to put 50p in machines for toppings is a bit much...

Had carvery, it was cold, I mean really cold not even luke warm. So I had to ask if they could microwave it to heat it up. Not even an apology. It was OKish if you don't mind your food being heated up in the microwave.... wouldn't go back.

easy to fund and easy to park. carpark is a good size . lots of spaces. inside there was alot of tables to sit .you van wait to be seen to or go straight to the bar and order.its carvery only in the afternoon as the do breakfast in the morning .the carvery was nice and fresh.only downside was the gravy wasn't very good. I like thick gravy with alot of taste.we ordered 2 standard meals and 2 shandy's and it was under £25 . NICE food.

Stopped by reluctantly on Sunday with family. Was told by another member they had a good experience last Friday.. there was 12 of us and we didn't book. We asked if we could possibly have tables close by as we knew being a big party and a walk in, it wouldn't be possible. Was shut down immediately and told no, no space (there was plenty of space) so sat at the complete opposite sides of the pub, we had a table of 10 next to us which was empty for the duration of our stay... Went to order food, the person on the till was damn right disgusting to my brother in law and father in law and I was ready to give her a piece of my mind if she spoke to me like she did them, however she was fine when I ordered.. no gluten free items on the menu and that person on the tills needs to be a little more understanding. Carvery was disgusting and cold. Guy serving was not wearing gloves and scratting at his face! Beef was not cooked. Another member complained and got all her money back, another member tripped up the Christmas tree lights as they were plugged in at the opposite side of the room with no protection of the wires.. Was offered free deserts or drinks. Went to bar to order, said we only wanted 3 deserts and told her what they was and then said we wanted 2 drinks.. the way she snapped at my father in law again sent me over the edge! How DARE she speak to paying customers like that!! Absolutely disgusting and will never return. Take yourselves further up the Road to the Eagle & Child in Gwaenysgor. Fresh home cooked food and not freezer ping food!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure if this place is 1 star worthy. Arrived to be told they've run out of meat for the carvery and dough for the pizzas. This is a place where the chain has pizza & carvery in the title 😂 Fair enough though, we ordered burgers & a kids meal to arrive ASAP. Drinks were very prompt, within minutes of ordering online but we had to chase the kids meal after 30 mins. Adult food arrived 2mins later. With half the ingredients missing and the chefs "made it as close as possible", without the pulled beef & salad on one burger and southern fried chicken, hot sauce & salad on the other. No wonder the waitress was sheepish and nobody bothered to communicate this with us. Just given the "suprise". To the manager's credit, they gave a full refund including the drinks, without any quibble. The only positive, I suppose.

Unfortunately there were no roast potatoes available as they had all gone and I was told by the carver that they could not be replenished for another 5-10 mins but I could come back and get some. Unfortunately this would have meant the rest of the meal going cold so I had to just make do with none which was very annoying. My husbands calzone pizza wasn’t cooked through properly either. It was very doughy and inedible.

First time going on Sunday we had the breakfast everything was lovely the food and the staff

Shocking service 6 meals orderd 4 was carvery alot of empty pots had to wait for them to fill with fresh then orderd 2 burgers never arrived waited 1 hour and half to be told twice would be 2 mins still never arrived then we asked we got a refund for burger then was told thay was missed and was being cooked still never arrived so we left not good service or food

The carvery was awesome . Beef was so tender and flavoursome , crispy roasties and mash was to die for so creamy . Overall excellent meal.

staff nice & friendly especially with kids couliflower cheese tasted rotten and offensive roasted potatoes not nice and mash tasted like microwaved mush meat was nicely cooked (turkey & beef) ice cream was awful kids had 2 mouthfuls and left the rest they hated it. price was cheep for family if 6.

I have to say the food, especially the meat on the carvery, was delicious. Spoilt by vegetables which were a bit tepid as was the gravy? Would not stop us returning but such a shame as we felt this could be easily remedied?

Went for our evening meal on the 1of November as we rented a cottage close by ordered a shared platter an a carvery wasn't informed that there's only turkey for carvery the platter was all just thrown in one bowl when complained to staff told it was not there problem service was absolutely diabolical waited over 45mins for nachos an nuggets threw in a bowl can't see this staying in business much longer if there staff have anything to do with it

We went in on a Monday evening for a carvery and the food and service did not disappoint us, it wasn't as busy as it normally is but after my experiences here in the summer, it's almost a blessing

We went for a carvery on Monday evening, the food and service was brilliant, we was served by a lovely man called Dave, he was very attentive with us and helped us with our order.

The staff are friendly and accommodating, never had an issue with the food or the service, the carvery is lovely and so much choice. Cara who has served us was so friendly and welcoming.

I had travelled down to see an old friend who had relocated down to prestytn. So we had been given your establishment as an recommendation. My girlfriend and I ordered the same southern fried chicken sandwich and unfortunately for me our server behind the bar had made an error so only one sandwich came out. When I questioned this unfortunately for me only one had been ordered but for the staff to rectify the mistake took my girlfriend and I going to the bar and asking about this sandwich by this time. All our party had finished their meals before I actually got my sandwich. The staff didn't offer any form of compensation such as removing this item from the bill.

Good breakfast, reasonably priced. Large amount of spaces to park. Would go again.

I live 5 minutes away from the bells of St Mary's the food is great has normal but the place needs to be re decorated my aunt noticed that the table was sticky and the floor near serving area they need to change there cleaning items please bells of St Mary's please re decorate I've been coming there for 30 years

Amazing staff Cara was amazing as a wheelchair user the help she gave me was second to none from sorting a place for me to eat my meal to carrying my drink and food to the table This is why I go to the bells and I know the food is good and the staff are fantastic thank you CARA x

Great staff, shame about the food. The carvery was awful. Beef was almost inedible because of the grisel. Vegetables were not good either. No longer good value.

All you can eat breakfast and to be fair it was worth the drive, and the nice big free car park makes it easy. All the food was hot and plenty of choice, their new addition of coated potato cubes were lovely. The place was lovely and clean plenty of room between tables for wheel chairs and prams which was nice to see, big covered tables outside if you have a dog even water dishes spotted around for them. I really want to say I cannot fault the friendly staff or delicious food. Definitely going again.

Shannon was very polite and efficient on arrival unfortunately on a very quiet night food was dry lukewarm and took an age to arrive. Saved as kids loved the dessert probably wouldn’t go back. Stone house as a brand need to do more and support their staff.

Had great experience and my server kat was extremely helpful and polite helped me with my order and recommended me the tandoori chicken pizza fron their new menu.

Millie who was in charge of the area where we were sat was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for her. A credit to the restaurant.

I’ve been here a few times recently for breakfast and carvery lunches and have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious and the staff are all super friendly. The bar staff are actually starting to remember me which is nice and Michelle who dished up my carvery today was delightful and patient with me asking questions. All in all a great place to come for a treat breakfast, lunch or dinner! Thank you guys!

Front of house lady Cara was proper sound. Had good chat back and git involved like she was with us was great. Kitchen staff made me wait at least 30 seconds for my carvery tho, not on really is it.

30£ for a pizza, 9 small chicken bites, a small dry garlic flatbread & two cordials and bowl of chips overpriced rubbish, garlic flatbread was dry, place stunk of smoke, no handwash in the disabled toilets. was going to have a cavery but meats looked like they were dry and had been their for hours. no staff even came how to ask how our meal was, wont be coming again

Worst experience ever, the place looks like it’s not been renovated in 20 years, the chairs are ripped and torn and decor is disgusting. The place looks like it hasn’t had a good clean in a long time. The service was diabolical… waited over an hour for food everything then came in scattered time with more waiting, staff are clueless and management is so disorganised. Ew just never again, if it wasn’t for a birthday meal we would’ve walked out instantly.

Very thin slithers of meat , cauliflower cheese with no cheese flavour 😣, hard as rock roast potato , condiments could have been presented better , I’d go back but not for carvery sorry . Mark was the only positive there and deserves 5 ⭐️

Having a holiday home here in Wales we have visited the bells a few times and every time we have been served by an amazing lady Cara. She is very friendly and professional and an absolute credit to the company.

Okay so we thought we'd give this place a go as we are staying at a local caravan park, additionally it's not very often i post a negative review but unfortunately I don't have much choice with this one Firstly upon arrival it took far too long for us to be seated, the queue for service at the carvery was far to long exacerbated by the face that the chef seemed determined to take his time, the quality of the food was not great bland and tasteless, the cauliflower cheese was more like cauliflower sludge the stuffing was drier than ghandis flipflop the meat was dry and full of gristle in all honesty it was not worth the money or the time give it a miss!

No real complaints about food but our starters were brought with our main!! I was having a carvery and advised not to queue until main arrived. When it did I was then queuing for 15 mins whilst my hubby ate his main so we actually ate separately which isn't the point of going out for food together?? Plus a certain group of people jumped the queue at the carvery and not one member of staff was going to speak to them. But I did. They were so rude and pushy. In a nutshell not a great experience. Won't be going again 😞

Brother in law broke down in motorhome, so we spoke to management, and he let us park up overnight in car park. Had carvery and breakfast before leaving, very nice stay would highly recommend it for helpful staff and management.

What a lovely, family friendly place! Cosy and friendly atmosphere, really clean and quick service, plus the staff are so lovely! The food is amazing!! Especially the carvery and pizza 🥰 Will be returning soon and telling all of my friends and family about this place! Best food we’ve had in a long time! We can’t wait for our next meal with you!
