The carvery is the best I’ve had so much taste , I prefere to go at 5 pm as everything is freshly put out . They have great offers if you download the app, i paid six pound for mine with my loyalty card Monday and Tuesday night .the meat is really nice too. It’s great they let dogs in now as I’m sure it will help business with the caravan parks round here , lots of dogs . One thing I would say is perhaps have an area for dogs as not everyone likes them . Staff are lovely all round great pub

Steadily got worse these last couple of years. Tried the carvery but the meat was cold and the stuffing dry and rock hard. Avoid at all costs.

If you want a plate of scraps then this is your place. For 13.99 Absolute dog s**t! Totally tasteless. Carvery server blatantly lied to me when I asked if it was beef gravy he said yes then told someone else it was vegan only. Never again!

Just got home. The kids and I were so fed up and angry at our visit we had to review. Part of me decided we will just never return - which is a shame as this was a family favourite growing up - but they don't deserve the apathy. Taking away the bang average food, dirty tables and 50 minute wait for pizzas and scampi and chips, the customer service is woeful. I went up to the kitchen after 40 mins to ask where our food was to be told the "pizzas are just going in". "After 40 mins they have still not been cooked?" I asked. "They've had a couple of other orders to do," said the waiter/staff. A woman next to him offered some free drinks, neither apologised and they muttered to themselves as I walked away. He then brought some pizzas over, which were not great, and the scampi and chips was more like a child's portion. All ok at best, but we were so hungry we ate most of it. My daughter left more than half her pizza. £60 for this and four flat glasses of pop. Didn't get asked if we wanted sauces or anything else. Nobody came and asked how the food was. Distinterested. The worst thing? The place wasn't even anywhere near half full, never mind full! On a BH. No wonder. Dreadful. Will never return. And the woman who had offered the free drinks - and no apology - came over to a table next to us to 'clean up' whistling and singing to herself despite seeing how unhappy we were. This lot need some self awareness courses. Absolute shambles. The people leaving good reviews must be used to a very, very low bar.

Girl with neon nails, served with a smile amazing customer service. She even offered me advice on what taste bests. She was cheeky on upselling but totally worth it! Will be returning as it’s my new fave place

Went for breakfast today,and very limited food!!! The food that was there was of poor quality—bacon under cooked! So were the sausages!—-I would avoid this place! Hardly any edible food—-which is such a shame—-as the chef said—-I’m just the microwave manager! My job is just to get the food upto temperature 😄 The thing that was ok was the toast,and you put that through a toaster yourself! Will not be going back ever again

My boyfriend complains at everything and even he said the carvery was 10/10. Brilliant staff, service with a smile, food was great, lovely outdoor bit and play area for kids

Fabulous restaurant, we stopped as a coach group for a carvery lunch. Staff were very friendly, we were a group of older people the staff were so helpful to our group. I can honestly say after all the carveries we've had, from all around the country, this has to have been the best! Beautiful quaint building with seating outside too. If you're looking for a carvery this one is the best! Thank you to management and staff for a wonderful visit.

Had a lovely experience here for a mother's day meal the staff were impeccable especially Mark D who was a massive help when our little girl whacked her head he was very kind and patient with us. Food was great and the atmosphere was grand. Would highly recommend

As a group of walkers we visit regularly, always good food ,reasonably priced friendly staff ,nothing too much trouble and a special mention for Cara.

Don't waste your time, we ordered food on the app and after 20 minutes of waiting we had to ask someone for our drinks. The guy who dropped the drinks off did mention a 30 minutes wait for food, which we were fine with. The food then followed 55 minutes later, and it was not worth the wait. I ordered a meat feast pizza and it came covered in honey for some reason, luckily I'm not allergic to honey! My partner ordered the 3 cheese burger and it had a measley bit of cheese on it and it was very dry. After waiting an hour to then be disappointed we didn't want to send it back and wait even longer for the replacement food so ate what we could and left very disappointed at how much we spent. On the way out we got taking to other customers who had the exact same experience. Wouldn't bother going back.

Service was great on our recent visit, food is nice but beef can get very fatty at times. Staff behind the bar remember locals which is nice on repeat visits

Carvery was good but could have been better.

It was OK. Food tasted nice enough. We had to wait a while for them to switch the turkey over on the carvery, there was barely any mash, and we had to wait for gravy while our food got cold. It felt grubby and dirty in places where there were spills that hadn't been taken care of in self serve areas.

Staff were great. Food was cooked in a decent amount of time and was lovely!

I've given a 1 star but that's being very generous. The carvery tonight was pure crap

Food and service was lovely, good prices, there is outside seating with a play area for kids. Plenty of deals on drinks and good. Lovely service from the young staff at the bar.

Came in for food early Thursday evening, what a disaster! 10 minutes after ordering the fire alarm went off and it seemed no member of staff knew how to turn it off or organise the pub. Management whilst scrambling around trying to work out what to do left a young girl to attend to all the tables and disgruntled customers. After 35 minutes of sitting with a fire alarm going off, Dave finally found out how to turn it off great.. or not, with no sign of our food after an hour and being told twice it’d be 5 minutes we decide to get a refund and head home. Management of this pub definitely need a refresher on how to handle a fire alarm going off as we weren’t the only customers to notice how badly managed this situation was.

ordered on the app was left waiting for an hour before part of our food came out then got left for 30 minutes. went up and spoke to the lady and presumably they forgot about us. she said food would be out within the next 10minutes but was then left for another 30 minutes. went up and spoke to the lady and she said she would get the manager. he sorted the food but the food was mediocre and not worth the two hour wait.

A lovely pub. Great food. We went on a Sunday. Was very busy. We should have booked but the squeezed is in as only two of us. Though we saw families being turned away as they were full. A good family pub. With seating area outside and play area for children. Does allow dogs. Advise booking.

Went on 6/3/2025 the food was absolutely disgusting I worked in a catering collage for many years and if we had served this over priced muck then many head would roll.

Friendly staff, service for food was slow. Starters were nice, however waited 30 minutes and then had to remind them before they arrived. Mains were hit and miss. Mac cheese was fine, dough balls were burnt, cheeseburger was the worst I've had in recent memory, it was overcooked and really dry and tasteless. I would have complained and had a replacement but I didn't have time to wait. I have been here a couple of times before many years ago and food was fine. Maybe someone was having an off day. Not in a rush to go back tbh.

Called for an evening meal... absolutely terrible....meat was tough, trimmings bland, gravy tasteless.... worse carvery we've ever had.... tried the food, but left most of it !!..server asked if everything was ok but overall were not interested !!...we will definitely not be returning !

We have been here on a few occasions with mixed outcomes but this time the food was excellent. The meat was cooked just right, noticed that they weigh the plates now, and the veg and gravy were all fresh and hot. Staff were very friendly as usual, service is usually very good and professional. The only thing that I will negatively comment on was the state of the chairs. They all seem very old and worn, which is a shame in such a lovely pub. Looking forward to our next visit.

So been going to the bells of st marys for a while now while working away for breakfast.. all the staff are amazing management, bar staff and all the chefs.. food is 100% and kerry and Mitchell the 2 lady chefs has always gone out there way to cook my eggs just how I like them so thank you for that.. well worth a visit if your in the area.

I have just had the best pizza I have ever had on a pub , better than a lot of Italians I have been to . I asked for it to be crispy and I got what I wanted it was outstanding . It’s the first time my wife has commented on a pizza . KYLE KYLE KYLE keep it up . Thanks will be back . Plus tusedays half price .

We visited on the 17th of February for an evening meal with my family. The carvery was soooo good, and the staff were very welcoming, especially Dave the manager. It was soo good we came back the next morning and had the unlimited breakfast which was just as good, and set us up nicely for the rest of the day. Highly recommended (we will be back)

Visited for breakfast with a friend as we’d had a positive experience about a month ago. This time was different. The staff were as friendly as always but the breakfast was a big disappointment. Arrived at 10.15 am on Friday, Feb 14th. Just about managed to make a full breakfast up despite no beans. Assured more food would arrive as it’s cooked fresh. We chatted and probably strayed for about an hour, not for extra food but just because we was with company. In this time not once was there an option available to have a full breakfast. Items arrived intermittently. You could have fried bread & mushrooms or sausages & beans at one point. I felt really sorry for the people who arrived in that last hour, scratching around to have something to eat having paid for a full choice of items. Guess the moral is to arrive and leave early.

Popped in for lunch after a walk at Big Pool Woods. Erin was very welcoming, friendly and helpful! We ordered the Turkey Cranberry Sandwiches with roasties, they came out very quickly and were absolutely delicious, topped off with a bowl of gravy for dipping 😍 Will definitely be back for the full carvery sometime soon!

Much better than previous visits. Fantastic breakfast, mushrooms now included (not the horrible dehydrated few they used to charge extra for) waffles now sometimes included too. Coffee always hot and service with a smile by Dave. If previous visits put you off, try this place again. Glad we did!

Went for all you csn eat brekky, food not too shabby, beans were cold and bacon could be a bit crispier but other than that not bad for the money. Service was good aswell

Had breakfast here today, not for the first time. First question always asked is do we have any allergies which is good practice. Staff very friendly, in particular Mark D who served us and cleared our table with a smile. Nothing too much trouble. Food lovely and plentiful. Place is always clean whenever we have been but decor is a little dated and needs improvement. Inside and out.

Not a great carvery (frozen Yorkshire's, over cooked potatoes, and waiting for certain items to come out the kitchen, while your food on your plate is going cold). The overall place could do with a refurb. Wife didn't fancy any ice cream as the toppings area for it the tiles on the wall were filthy and the carpet in the place wasn't much better. Imo they should turn this into a Toby, yes it might cost a few quid more but at least you would get homemade Yorkshire's and it would be cleaner and more modern.

Stopped here for some lunch and it’s a gem of a place with great staff fantastic food and very affordable. The inside has a great detail with nice tucked away seating and looks fab inside ,well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed

When we arrived we were greeted by a member of staff , my partner is in a wheelchair and they were happy for us to try table to ensure that we were seated comfortably, the carvery was delicious and we even had dessert, staff made sure throughout out visit that everything was ok. A very enjoyable visit as we don't often go out for meals because of the difficulties faced by wheelchairs users, we will be sure to visit again.

Instant mash, bought in Yorkshire puddings, bland veg and only peas, carrots, an green beans on a Sunday aswell. My beef was full of fat. Gammon was nice. Not great food. Staff were friendly but we won't be back

Read some great reviews so thought we would pop down ourselves for the carvery. The turkey was fantastic and moist. The veg was amazing cooked to perfection in my eyes. The gravy was on of the best gravy I've had from a carvery. It was a lovely little spot for a nice quiet lunch. I would highly recommend. The staff were super friendly and helpful, job well done guys ! Defo will be coming back.

Love this place as been so many times when over the road at Presthaven in our touring caravan. We frequently use Stonehouse pubs and get to know quite a lot of staff. Nice to see JP here again, top manager

Went for breakfast with Santa, good food. Shame there were no Christmas songs being played. Just didn't feel festive. Grandson enjoyed seeing Santa. Shame the gift wasn't a wrapped one, only a Stonehouse bag.

Had the best carvery meal I think I've ever had on Saturday.....only negative is that no carvery going forward will live up to it!! 🤣 I will be back! Please be the same 🤞🙏👍😋 promised a five star review as was very impressed.

Great little spot on the Coast. Upon ordering was informed there was a £6 offer on the carveries. Couldn't fault the place with prices like that.

2nd time and it's still not improved carvery only turkey available so had pizza ham pizza looked like it had been thrown around the kitchen compared to the other 2 we ordered burger dry no sauce on table NEVER AGAIN have learned my lesson waste of nearly £100 with drinks nice pub shame it's not run properly

I came with my family to have a carvery a couple days after Christmas. The food was delightful and staff were very warm and welcoming I would not change anything about the restaurant .We will definitely be coming back again

i had a very delightful experience with the staff, they were all happy to help as we hadn't been in before, the food was superb! and the menu choices/options were awesome… i specifically had a very nice encounter with a lovely lady at the bar “hannah” she was more than kind and poured me a very good pint :) highly recommend.

We had the carvery, it was good value for money, all guests enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. A big thank you to the team member Hannah for the warm welcome and excellent service! Would go here again .

Meal was lovely fifh and chips but £5.00 for a tiny tub of ice cream and then u have to put 50p in machines for toppings is a bit much...

easy to fund and easy to park. carpark is a good size . lots of spaces. inside there was alot of tables to sit .you van wait to be seen to or go straight to the bar and order.its carvery only in the afternoon as the do breakfast in the morning .the carvery was nice and fresh.only downside was the gravy wasn't very good. I like thick gravy with alot of taste.we ordered 2 standard meals and 2 shandy's and it was under £25 . NICE food.

Had carvery, it was cold, I mean really cold not even luke warm. So I had to ask if they could microwave it to heat it up. Not even an apology. It was OKish if you don't mind your food being heated up in the microwave.... wouldn't go back.

Stopped by reluctantly on Sunday with family. Was told by another member they had a good experience last Friday.. there was 12 of us and we didn't book. We asked if we could possibly have tables close by as we knew being a big party and a walk in, it wouldn't be possible. Was shut down immediately and told no, no space (there was plenty of space) so sat at the complete opposite sides of the pub, we had a table of 10 next to us which was empty for the duration of our stay... Went to order food, the person on the till was damn right disgusting to my brother in law and father in law and I was ready to give her a piece of my mind if she spoke to me like she did them, however she was fine when I ordered.. no gluten free items on the menu and that person on the tills needs to be a little more understanding. Carvery was disgusting and cold. Guy serving was not wearing gloves and scratting at his face! Beef was not cooked. Another member complained and got all her money back, another member tripped up the Christmas tree lights as they were plugged in at the opposite side of the room with no protection of the wires.. Was offered free deserts or drinks. Went to bar to order, said we only wanted 3 deserts and told her what they was and then said we wanted 2 drinks.. the way she snapped at my father in law again sent me over the edge! How DARE she speak to paying customers like that!! Absolutely disgusting and will never return. Take yourselves further up the Road to the Eagle & Child in Gwaenysgor. Fresh home cooked food and not freezer ping food!

Unfortunately there were no roast potatoes available as they had all gone and I was told by the carver that they could not be replenished for another 5-10 mins but I could come back and get some. Unfortunately this would have meant the rest of the meal going cold so I had to just make do with none which was very annoying. My husbands calzone pizza wasn’t cooked through properly either. It was very doughy and inedible.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure if this place is 1 star worthy. Arrived to be told they've run out of meat for the carvery and dough for the pizzas. This is a place where the chain has pizza & carvery in the title 😂 Fair enough though, we ordered burgers & a kids meal to arrive ASAP. Drinks were very prompt, within minutes of ordering online but we had to chase the kids meal after 30 mins. Adult food arrived 2mins later. With half the ingredients missing and the chefs "made it as close as possible", without the pulled beef & salad on one burger and southern fried chicken, hot sauce & salad on the other. No wonder the waitress was sheepish and nobody bothered to communicate this with us. Just given the "suprise". To the manager's credit, they gave a full refund including the drinks, without any quibble. The only positive, I suppose.

Shocking service 6 meals orderd 4 was carvery alot of empty pots had to wait for them to fill with fresh then orderd 2 burgers never arrived waited 1 hour and half to be told twice would be 2 mins still never arrived then we asked we got a refund for burger then was told thay was missed and was being cooked still never arrived so we left not good service or food

The carvery was awesome . Beef was so tender and flavoursome , crispy roasties and mash was to die for so creamy . Overall excellent meal.

staff nice & friendly especially with kids couliflower cheese tasted rotten and offensive roasted potatoes not nice and mash tasted like microwaved mush meat was nicely cooked (turkey & beef) ice cream was awful kids had 2 mouthfuls and left the rest they hated it. price was cheep for family if 6.
