The Bells of St Marys in Flintshire

Absolutely fantastic, went twice in 4 days. Had set 2 course meal on first visit & carvary on second visit. Wonderfull staff, couldn't be more helpfull, fantastic food, hot fresh,delicious. Going back in May as a party of 12.

Just been to Bells of St Mary's for dinner tonight with my wife and we had the best carvery we have had in a long time. From the meat the vegetables and the gravy. Will definitely go again.

Drab run down needs new management. Visited on holiday as we have one local to our home and the food and service is great at the radford bank stafford. But this one is awful, 1st visited for evening meal upon arrival only carverys not doing nothing else on the menu and the excuse given they were busy, well looked not that busy just short staffed as there were many empty tables. On our way home decided to stop for breakfast at 9am, we we're there a little early so sat on the car park for it to open. Whilst sitting there stuff were just turning up at 850 so we went in at 9 and was told it was going to be about 30mins for breakfast reason being she had problems with the gas oven, in other words they've only just all turned up for work. Shocking place needs a new manager. Don't visit.

Called to reserve a table, arrived and got seated, spent half an hour deciding what we wanted and went to the bar only to be told that they are only doing carvery, not great for vegetarians in our group. Walked out the night ruined for the kids. Avoid this place if possible it's also very rundown.

Only doing children carvery from 5pm onwards no large or medium carverys,plus food was luck warm,not worth the money, 4 small carvery,4 cokes just under 40 pounds, better at K F C half the price.

Visited here on the 22nd with friends for food and drinks and every single one of us was super happy with the customer service provided! All staff were very helpful and polite and checked back on us to see if we needed anything and to make sure we were all happy, the food was amazing and great value for money! Lovely place to visit and highly recommend!

I visited here with my family for dinner and it was absolutely amazing! The food was lovely and fresh! The staff were all friendly and very helpful, would definitely recommend this place to all friends and family.

Breakfast was lovely, service was brilliant as well , can't wait to come back , good for family's and couples . Will be coming back soon

Absolutely love this place, been coming here for years and I’ve never been let down! The staff are lovely and always very helpful and the food is always spot on and great value for money. The atmosphere is always nice and the cleanliness of the place is spot on.

We visited here recently whilst staying locally. We have visited this chain before but this is the best one we have tried. My carvery was really nice (my only criticism is the veg selection was small) and my husband said his pizza was really good too. The kids ate all theirs so that's always a good sign. The staff were attentive and the table clean and service speedy.

Brilliant Ever Time. Staff are lovely, always polite and curtious. We visit often and our food is always very good, be that breakfast or carvery.

You simply will not find a better reason to spend your money in a supermarket and eat at home. Ordered:2 x Full Works Carvery and 2 x kids meals of chicken nuggets and chips. The kids meals were low end even when you consider the basic nature of their description. The carvery was a whole new world of awful. Beef- Unable to be carved by the Chef and he commented about it being sub standard. Undersold on the pigs in blankets aspect of the “Full Works” Roast potatoes were aged and had gone hard to the point of in edible, commented on by the person in front of the queue that even the gravy won’t loosen them up. General issue with the heat too, the plates not warm enough if at all.The food on hot plate was in need of a microwave. I don’t go looking for issues but if they’re gonna slap you in the face then it’s hard to ignore. Bloody awful, will not go again.

This is the 3rd time we have been, not long moved here, finding our feet! This could have been our local and we would have become regular customers...had our experience been better!! It's such a shame that some of the staff are good and some not so 😐..You can stand at the bar a good 15min before someone comes to see you or serve you. When this lady did come out she's off hand and come across rude 😒 So the 1st time we tried this pub it was 8/9pm pre-Christmas and were told we are closing cause it wasn't busy..and there's not serving food! 2nd time we went there we waited again about 15mins to be seen, again same unhappy woman seen to at and just puffed " sit anywhere" not hello..sorry about your wait...how can I help you...There was no Carvery ( something was broken) but that's ok we we're happy to get a pizza's! So someone wrote pepperoni instead of Margareta!! So when I took it back they said, we'll only charge you for a Margareta. I said but he doesn't like pepperoni 🤭..Anyway a lovely man came out took it away and we got 3 fabulous pizza's thin, crispy, delicious..and free fries for the inconvenience!!! So we tipped we'll the food was that good...made up for the parts that aren't so good!.. 3rd visit booked Monday for half price burger night! Got all ready to go! Starving!.. Happy!! Then again at the bar waiting 10mins used to this by now.. myself and other customers laughed at the lack of staff 🤣...Then the chef shouts Michelle!! So that's the lady's name, who appeared pee'd off, that she's been disturbed.. Who are you, what do you want. I said we booked a table..but the guy here is before us.. She said sit anywhere! Off she went..So we sit down and then go to the bar to order our half price burgers and we are told..No BURGERS it's CARVERY.. "it's advertising Monday half price burger night! The girl said well we only have chicken ( NO BEEFBURGERS) Cause its CARVERY ONLY 🤣🤣🤣🤣 So the Monday to Sunday offers of pizza nights..or burger nights bla bla might not be on as advertised...cause it might be CARVERY NIGHT ONLY!!! 🤔 😳 The sad thing about this restaurant is obviously the food is good, but staff need to be trained or sacked!...I'm not sure how difficult it is to get staff in a remote pub.. but it's not like its in the back of beyond! That definitely sorting... and really the menu needs updating to reflect what's being sold... I love good food...and I believe in tipping well, for great food and welcoming the staff make me and my family feel...So I'm sorry we give it 3 goes and I definitely won't be coming again!! 😢

After being recommended to try Sunday lunch. Booked in yesterday. Wasn't disappointed. Staff were really friendly. The young lady carving the roast was bubbly and chatty. The meal was great well worth the money. Will definitely come again. I'll be recommending to my friends. Well done Bells of St Mary's.

Can’t comment on the food as I’ve never eaten here but I come from Liverpool and I’ve called in for a pint or two of Peroni which is my favourite beer and I’ve always found the staff excellent and some lovely banter too! A friend of mine lives not far away, which is how I came to be out this way

Excellent service and staff were very helpful and friendly. Have been to this hostelry many times since 2010. At least 15 times a year and always get good service and value for money.

OK for a quick bite to eat, but nothing special. We were hoping for the Sunday carvery, but an issue with the serving area to keep the food hot meant they were only serving Pizza and Burgers on the day. It was fine... and much as you'd expect from a chain pub dining experience.

Went out for a carvery with friends and have to say it was fabulous, the staff I have to say were a credit to the company although under staffed they presented themselves with professionalism and nothing was to much trouble for them I have to say a big thankyou to James and cara for the way they interacted with customers and the way they made people feel at home I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to go out for a carvery if your in the area or on holiday please give them a visit you won't be disappointed,,now for the food we had the carvery turkey and gammon and beef all meat was cooked to perfection good portion given by chef's the veg and potatoes were perfect they also do other meals and a child's menu they also take blue light card, I hope this review helps people decide where to eat if in and around the area.

Booked a table for 6.15 arrived 6pm to be told only pizza and burgers available (despite a telephone conversation 30 minss earlier saying all food available). After viewing the menu for 5mins a staff member told us to hurry up and order. Safe to say...

The carvery is good but my experience is that the food is not hot enough for my liking from the carvery so will try one of the served meals next time.

Greeted with Happy New Year on New Year's Day. Friendly staff and quick service. We ordered on the app at the table as prices are cheaper on there. Couldn't fault the carvery. 3 main meals, large wine, pint and mocktail for £37. Brilliant!

Best place for a carvery in the area staff always friendly

Took Mum and family for Boxing day meal. Prawn cocktails starters were great. Brie wedges, and Soup were all lovely. Carvery and the Burgers were great, and pudding was lovely. Been a few times never been disappointed..

In honesty it was pretty dire. The staff all seemed nice but I guess they must have been understaffed as the service was pretty awful. My starters wasn't as described, the carvery food was cold, no one was on the bar when I went up to buy more drinks so i gave up. I had to go and ask for the sunday glass and a spoon as it wasn't brought over. I think they were either run off their feet or not properly trained. Customers at another large table were complaining loudly and saying they would never return again and were even encouraging new customers to go elsewhere while they waited (for too long) to be seated! I was a bit gutted really as it was meant to be a 78th birthday treat for my mum. As I say the staff themselves seemed like nice people, they weren't rude or anything...just the whole thing felt a bit of a disaster. First experience of a stonehouse inn...and not a good one sadly. Your competitors, Toby Carvery and Harvest Inns and Beefeater all did better...though to be fair I haven't visited them on a boxing day. Very disappointing.

Went to The Bells for Christmas dinner, well worth it, very good food, and nice atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and professional.

Been a couple of times. It is hit and miss with the food being hot or cold. Went for lunch at 12pm the veg was piping hot. Went for breakfast at 9am amd the beans was freezing cold.

Carvery is generally good. Can't explain why one week it's spot on the next it's not great. So I would describe it as inconsistent. This week it was the mash and gravy. Tasteless. Roast potatoes not bad.

Popped in for a couple of cocktails and was blessed with the presence of cara. What an absolute diamond of a woman. Polite, funny and interactive, had an absolute laugh at a carvery who would of thought 🤦🏻‍♂️😂. X

Very disappointed. We had a Christmas get together there this evening and we were rushed out. No option to have pudding despite being hours before their stated closing time. As soon as drinks were finished the glasses were taken and not offered more. I think if there was a reason to close early this evening it should have been advertised. Not allowing people to book a Christmas get together to have it ruined by feeling unwelcome, not able to order food and then being rushed out.

We've been quite a few times, but not for a while and it's probably been the best experience we've had, the staff were great and the food was lovely, carveries are sometimes only just warn because of the nature of the food being out under just heat lamps but yesterday it was piping hot and cooked perfectly

Won't use this place again. Onion rings sent back well overcooked chips hard felt like reheated or left around. The calzone pizza was dry staff didn't care spent £32.16 with 2 lattes £5.78 2 medium cokes £6.40 that's with 50% off the pizzas.

The food took ages and was very poor quality. The burgers were such low grad meat they were inedible. Tasted like some bread supermarket own rubbish. You expect a burger from a pub (classic pub food) to be high quality.

It may be due to being 5pm on a Sunday but the place was packed- there wasn't enough staff to manage. The que to be seated was out the door, the que to order was around the restaurant. It was chaos. 3 people in my party ordered off the menu while I ordered a carvery- they told me to wait till the food came out before going up. I did this, the table had finished by the time I had got back. My teen son told me the toilets were covered in water,....what this was I'm not sure. I did mention to a lady and she was quick to sort this. The food was nice but the staffing was well under capacity for the place.

Service was terrible, starters got brought out and then nobody came to take them away after about 20 minutes. We had to go to the bar to let them know the table was ready for mains as people was waiting to go to the carvery . Another 20 minutes and they started closing the carvery with the rest of the food still being waited on, so the ones with carvery tickets had to rush over whilst the rest of the tables food was sat on the shelf waiting to be taken over it looked like the food was sat there for a while and no one was doing there job too busy hoovering ! Or messing around. Half of the carvery was gone and then the food that our table had to bring over ourselves was freezing cold and inedible! Staff clueless and there excuse was we thought everyone had there food! But as nobody was doing there job and checking the evening was ruined and will not be returning ! We had to push for a refund ! Such a shame as normally good service and food but as this was a baby shower it was ruined.

We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation and the host was more than accommodating to fit us in. He was very polite and was courteous to seat us away from all the large tables! The lady behind the bar was very pleasant too, she...

Cara was the light & soul of the bar making our ordering process smooth & hilarious at the same time! What a character! She made our evening! Thank you Cara, hopefully there is some kind of rewards scheme for employees here. Thank you for your fun & laughter!

Always a good Sunday carvery good service and but would highly recommend even it does get busy

Been here once before and found it was okay for the prices etc and staff seemed friendly enough however, tonight we have been and waited over an hour on food. No one informed us of the wait nor did anyone apologise when we asked how long it would be. A waiter came finally with my baby’s food however, proceeded to tell me the dish was hot before placing it within arms reach of my 10 month old daughter who grabbed the hot plate. Then our food came approx. 1hr 15 minutes after we’d ordered it and they covered my partners pizza in hot sauce - clearly appeared to be retaliation from us asking for a refund. Won’t be coming back again. Staff were minimal in their apology and didn’t seem sincere at all.

Sadly got two out of four people food wrong. Gave us both barbecue, bacon and cheese, chicken burgers instead of just plain chicken burgers. Only offered a new bun instead so we had to scrape the cheese, bacon and sauce off and make do. Bottomless ice cream station was a disappointment with only two sauces and one topping to customise your ice cream with. Staff member behind the till unfortunately kept getting confused with a rather simple order which was slightly frustrating. Place was quite nice and cosy though.

Not the best of places to get to on a cycle which is a shame. Food good quality and well priced. Drinks also average priced. Staff friendly and courteous.

I love the carvery here, just love getting up and helping myself to what ever I want on my big plate. Really nice food too to be fair. Staff are really pleasant too enjoy the rest of your evening and all that as you’re leaving. It’s my go to place for a Sunday dinner yes it’s out of town and takes 20 min to get there but we’ll worth it. I don’t mind not having a drink and being the driver I just love the food.

Food was spot on. Chritmas menu available. Mark served us and was very polite and attentive. Joe the Chef was also notably polite and made a good impression. All in all a positive experience.

Gone down hill food wise and specifically asked staff who was serving about non alcoholic drinks asked for the non alcoholic peroni to be handed a normal alcoholic one isn't a wise thing to do to a recovering alcoholic.

We come here for breakfast quiet a few times the staff are always very friendly and helpful food is always hot and very tasty, we’ve been for evening meal too even when busy the staff are really quick at serving and always with a smile, special shout out to Carly, Caitlin, cara, Shan they have always been very welcoming to us and always have a smile 😃 always come here intact we are having breakfast right now with our little boy! We love going for our carverys here. Sometimes there can be a big queue and service had be slow but if you go at quieter times it is great!

The food was very good, but there was a long Queue for the carvery. Everything was piping hot. The staff were very good but very busy.

A very nice local hostelry with plenty of parking space. Much used by locals and visitors alike. Very friendly and helpful staff. We have visited on many occasions over the last 12 years and have always had a very good experience..

Nice choice of meats and veg. All salt & pepper pots damp and peppers set solid. A few grains of rice would sort that. Most of staff pleasant.
