Booked the bottomless afternoon tea here after we couldn’t get in for brunch at sister venue The Magic Garden. Overall I’d describe the experience as average, breaking down the various elements as follows: Ambience/table: Hockley Arts Club is an interesting and quirky venue set across several levels. I think of it more of an evening bar than afternoon tea location so was interesting to see it in daylight. We didn’t have the best table, almost in the entrance of the ‘Blue’ level and under some icy air con. I’d recommend asking for a table upstairs in the Electric Garden - would have been good to have had the different areas explained when booking - as this had a much warmer and better atmosphere. Food/drink: With bottomless Prosecco, an alcoholic iced tea concoction served from teapots plus a cocktail menu to work your way through, the emphasis is definitely on the booze rather than the food element of the afternoon tea which is largely unremarkable. Between two of us we had a plate each of beige savoury bites, tiny quiches, a scrap of sausage roll and some bland sandwiches. The sweet layer was better with brownies, scones etc. Again nothing different or special. Value for money: At £37.95 for 1.5hrs of bottomless Prosecco plus cocktails you can certainly get your money’s worth on the booze front if the mood takes you. It balances out what’s lacking on the food side. Service: Seemed some of the comments on here have been noted as service was attentive and friendly with regular drink top-ups. In summary this is nice enough but wouldn’t add to a list of Nottingham’s finest afternoon teas, there are better experiences to be found.

Up-market venue with table service. Cocktails more expensive than average, but the venue was better than average! Good sevice and quality ingredients in the cocktails. Many steep steps (including to the toilets), so may not be suitable for some people. Only downside is unisex toilets, though they were mostly clean.

Afternoon tea yesterday was very disappointing, as regular afternoon tea patrons it was really sub standard in comparison to Harts or Browns which are a similar price- you should go and check what they offer. Staff were new, but even with pre ordering no one seemed to know what there actually was on the classic or bottomless tea. No one explained any of the sandwiches or cakes, we had to guess what they were. Sandwiches were not fresh, dried up and fillings not easily identifiable, same with the cakes. Scone had jam and synthetic cream on the top of it! Very odd offering all round and not as advertised at all. Service was slow and then we were rushed out at the end as there was a time limit on table. Not good value or quality all round for a birthday celebration. Took ages to pay at the end and tried to overcharge based on deposit already paid- shame as good venue and have eaten there in the evening before which was better.

It's really expensive there or I was overcharged twice.. for one glass of wine and double gin and tonic I paid almost £21 and for two small shots of vodka £13.. I don't recommend that place at all..

Great place reasonably priced drinks and some great cocktail options. It was really warm on the top floor but we enjoyed it non the less

This is a great venue with a vibrant atmosphere. I went for an afternoon tea and was seriously disappointed with the quality of the food. Margarine was used instead of butter and was spread too thickly. The vegan food was not good, at one point I did not know what I was eating, though it looked vaguely like mushrooms. The vegan cheese used was dry enough to be curling up at the edges. I won’t be going again

Went here Saturday night it was a bit quiet in the blue room quite chilled vibe for a Saturday night but the staff and drinks were decent we enjoyed it overall

We came for afternoon tea I had pre booked ahead a vegan afternoon tea however they didn’t have oat milk so the guy had to go out and get some. We waited a long time he apologised as they had a table of 22 in and we were left waiting. The ambience was fab but the food was dire and not too sure what was in some of the pastry cases it tasted odd. One of the cakes on the vegan selection tasted liked sawdust squashed together. No disabled toilet my friend who was in her 70’s had to struggle up a 100 steps to get in the venue and get to the toilet. Very disappointed as the place looked fabulous online but very overpriced.

Awful service!! Clearly the management or whoever responds to the other comments on here doesn't learn from their mistakes. We visited on a Saturday night about 6pm. There wasn't many people in and no greeting at the door so we walked in to find our own table. Waited a while but weren't served so I went to the bar. I was told it was table service!! Clearly the bar person's idea of service and mine are completely different. So we left and went to another bar over the road. I told the bar person in the new bar and they said "Ah yes, they're having a few issues" Apparently the person behind the bar in the Hockley Arts Club pulled a face at me (behind my back) as I walked out - I wouldn't have had her cleaning the toilets in the bars I've managed - beyond useless! There are plenty of other places to visit in Notts, so I'd avoid this place!!

Absolutely awful experience, stood at the “wait here to be seated” sign, ignored by staff (manager just behind us) for a lengthy time. Felt like we were an inconvenience, not busy at all , almost empty infact , wonder why?! Eventually shown to a table , ignored again . Had to approach the bar to ascertain whether table service or order at the bar ; only 3 tables full at this point! No table service we were told, but nobody came , others complaining to waitress at the time . This used to be a lovely venue for drinks , never , ever again will we walk into this bar . We went across the road to be told that this place is having issues and many people complaining , GET YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE SORTED , empty seats on a Saturday lunch time smacks of poor service!

Visited for a bottomless afternoon tea for my birthday and would highly recommend, having only visited on a night out previously. Loved the food, all tasted fresh and was exactly the kind of thing we were after. Drinks were also great and staff were attentive for topping up for the 'bottomless' aspect. Special shout out to the peach ice tea cocktail which I loved!

We have always had a really nice afternoon tea at Hockley Arts Club but this time we were really disappointed. The food had obviously been standing out for a while as the sandwiches, quiche and sausage rolls were warm. Even the couple of flowers thrown on the cakes had wilted!! Drinks were not topped up as quickly as usual and I am still waiting for the cocktail I ordered about half way through! Some fillings were not nice at all!! No smoked salmon anymore! Presentation 0/5!! I an sorry to say we will be looking for somewhere else to go next time.

Ageism at its finest. The place was practically empty and we were quizzed by two separate member of staff as to whether we had booked or not. We had not booked and there were lots of empty tables when we arrived and it was even less busy when we left. The staff member who eventually seated us lead us to a separated side room with no other customers in there. We commented that we were being hidden from view as obviously we’re ’old’ (we are 57 and 50) in front of the staff member who made no attempt to disabuse us of what we had just said. Had a drink and left. Don’t worry, we won’t bring our aged bodies into your establishment again.

I would avoid paying for a bottomless anything here. We went for afternoon tea we had three stale sandwiches, empty vol au vent cases and soggy macaron . The food was shocking! We also, in our hour and a half, managed four drinks and only because twice we went to find a member of staff to get a drink. The second time being told you only have 10 mins left anyway. Tried to talk to the staff about the experience but they were “busy” and walked off. Don’t be fooled by the pics online that’s definitely not what you get.

What an amazing place! 3 floors of different characteristics with good ranges of drinks and great staff. We started off on the top floor and worked out way down. Top floor was a classy 'cocktail bar' vibe, middle floor more relaxed with a great 'chilled' atmosphere and table service and then a nightclub style bar in the ground floor. Something for everyone. Staff were all really friendly too. Didn't know this place existed but still definitely be back

Service was so slow. So slow that we cancelled the second round of drinks because they took so long. We couldn't taste any alcohol in the cocktails and they weren't worth the money which was between £11 and £13 per drink!! Wouldn't go back.

Booked Hockley Arts Club for my 21st birthday, it was a party of 13, 8 people had preordered for the bottomless, 3 people had booked for just the afternoon tea with one cocktail and one processco. 2 people didn’t want afternoon tea at all due to not wanting certain food and drinks. When we arrived the waiter didn’t even introduce himself, he just put us in the room, and left us with menus on the table for cocktails. With a bottomless experience i would expect at least a welcome but also someone explaining how the 90mintues works, considering 11 of us have preordered and 3 of those people are also not doing bottomless but a different meal plan. Nothing was explained and we were expected to just understand how everything works! I then realized there were two chairs which have not be added to the table despite I booked a table for 13 people. It took them awhile and a few reminders to bring a chair, the waiter bought us one chair and I then had to ask again for another, in which a waitress who I saw working at the bar came in and literally threw it across the room, she didn’t put it in place or around the table. Just literally threw it. Incredibly rude, and abrupt behavior. Felt as though we were an inconvenience to her shift. Already this experience began to get a bit stressful when I expected with preordering and booking a table it would have already been organized. At this point we still hadn’t received our welcome cocktails or been able to order them, again because the process was not explained we did not know if the people with different set menus could get the same cocktails on the menu. The waiter then began to tell one of the party members on bottomless brunch that she couldn’t have the one from the menu, completely confusing everyone. At this point on my 21st birthday I was getting very flustered by the situation they have put us in and then suddenly food was being put on our table with no explanation what the sandwich’s are and some people still not even having a glass of processco yet. The food was just put on the table with cards with veggie, gluten and classic which I thought was great, but no organisation , or anyone checking if everything is being run smoothly or how it was going for us. The service was really quite terrible. At this point whilst everyone was eating , I had to go to the bar to speak to someone else and I wish I knew his name but he was so lovely and within a few minutes he had sorted out our welcome cocktails and also explained how the process worked. He explained that obviously they don’t see how many people put down the deposit etc so that why there may be some confusion. So I completely understand that some things were out of their control, however what is in their control is good, polite, service. As a customer I shouldn’t feel like I’m being a nag by asking for our drinks, asking for chairs for my party to sit on and I had booked for. Other than that, the food was great, everyone enjoyed it. The bottomless Prosecco did end up coming out faster after being stalled for a good 45mins, and the atmosphere and music is great in there. For future there needs to be more organisation for a big party, better service that’s actually polite and not half arsed.

Absolutely appalling service We spent over £300 at the bar, my parents are 70yrs of age and when i come to visit they always like to go there for a dance and cocktails. We had been served by an english guy all night who was lovely and then towards the end of the night was served by a very rude foreign guy with a goaty beard. There was mix up with a vodka instead of changing it, he thought it was ok to argue! No customer service! Let’s agree to disagree and then thought it was ok charge us again! No customer service! I wouldn’t want him serving in my bar!!

Harry, our bartender host, delivered outstanding service, going above and beyond to ensure our experience was exceptional. What impressed us even more was his skill in crafting perfect cocktails, both from the menu and off it. Highly recommended. The venue and atmosphere were superb.

Really overpriced place that doesn’t justify the prices. £21 for 2 double vodka cokes (nothing special, Smirnoff!). Not sure I’d recommend to anyone at this price point. Cozy place with different levels. But prices are a proper let down.

We went here for pre cocktail drinks. The service was very slow but there was only one guy making them and he had attention to details so can’t blame him. Cocktails were hit and miss and overpriced. This is second time going and tbh I won’t be returning,

What a great place again a friend had arranged to meet here pre dinner. Without booking. The staff were great and let Katie and I have a drink at the bar and then sorted out a table for the 9 other friends. Guy behind the bar was great and the rest of the team were nice. Great atmosphere, good choice of drinks AF beer food looks good as well.

A converted old lace factory.  The interior is very nice.  Good selection of drinks, although a little pricier than the previous bar we visited.  Staff were polite and attentive.  I seem to remember that when it first opened there were artifacts on show from the old factory.  These seem to have been removed now which is a shame.

Such a great place for delicious drinks! You can choose between three floors which have different vibes (Stockholm is more for dancing, The Blue Rooms is great to chill and chat in a very cosy, warm atmosphere, and The Electric Gardens is perfect to chat and hang out in a nature oriented decor). The cocktails are slightly different between all three venues (although a couple of drinks are available on all three menus). The staff is super friendly. My personal favourite is the Blue Rooms. The cocktails are honestly amazing and well worth the slightly higher prices. Even when a drink isn’t quite what one would go for, they still taste great, perfectly balanced and full of flavour! Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a chilled vibe and delicious drinks.

Came in for drinks with a few of my girlfriends after one of them had been dumped - safe to say the lovely Bartender Will made our night much better! Served some great drinks - the girls loved their pornstar martinis and he made us a special cocktail I think it was called the ‘sunny Will’. Think we will definitely be returning, great value for money!

Popped in for a quick drink on a Saturday afternoon. Can't speak for the food as I only had a drink, nice setting and decor but personally I found the music to be too loud for daytime and the prices a bit steep. Service was efficient though and the staff accommodated our extra person in our group.

So expensive.. have 2 tequila rose shots and it cost me £11.80. Disgusting…when I asked the bartender if that was correct he said yes! I’m sure they charge what they like.

Homophobic staff got physical to remove me and when called out as sexist homophobic let me back in but restricted to a seat! Crazy experience for 2023 in a supposedly creative and forward thinking place. Other staff didn’t share any concern with this behaviour. Emailed the venue 3 times regarding this and also contacted on instagram, even left it a few weeks in case it was just the case of them been busy. Haven’t heard anything back so having to report the incident through SIA.

Lovely afternoon tea with bottom less cocktail/ prosecco, good vegetarian selection

I have been here before and it was amazing, so was looking forward to bringing my friends as part of a Uni reunion. The hostess was unwelcoming, informed us that bar was at capacity and that they would be closing shortly. We showed her where we could sit and she grudgingly agreed. I appreciate it was the end of the evening but it was evident that we were not planning a raucous time. Very disappointing.

I tried to be respectful and discuss this with them privately before leaving a review, however my email has been ignored. I had an afternoon tea booking a couple of weeks ago, and it was just shocking. The tables were disgusting and sticky, the crockery was dirty, the girls had an incredibly unwelcoming attitude and the food was minimal and lacking any effort. One sandwich was just bacon fat. Another was just chopped red pepper and cress perhaps (?). One sandwich with a smearing of what I believe was egg. We were abandoned in the side room, with no "is everything OK for you?". We had to find someone to ask for our drinks we had pre ordered. We were also overcharged. I was embaressed that I was the one that had chosen this venue for the family and upset for us all. I would hope that this was a one off, but from our experience, I would not recommend at all.

Hidden away (walked past the entrance twice!). Luxurious grown up interior with plush leather booths. Nice atmosphere, not too busy or noisy. Pricey drinks though. £5 for a nonalcoholic Peroni is fairly scandalous. £12 for a cocktail. Yikes!

Nice atmosphere however don’t ever order anything off of the menu. We ordered a Long Island iced tea as the bartender said they could make it and what we got was a slightly alcoholic coke at max. Definitely after watching the bartender it was definitely not the kind of cocktail you would ever get from a proper bar, let alone paying over £11 for it!

It was ok. The drinks were nice, it just felt a little bit up itself. Went on the top floor fairly early on a Saturday evening and it did take a fair while to get served. Fairly expensive for what it was. Maybe it is better on the other floors.

Disappointed. Have been here pre pandemic and loved it. Went again recently and had a Long Island Ice Tea cocktail, my favourite. We could not taste any alcohol in it at all. An expensive soft drink. What a shame as the venue is lovely

Quite a dark and dingy feel to it. Drinks expensive, cocktails mediocre. When you actually sit and look at the decor, it all looks rather cheap and scruffy. Maybe it’s because there was daylight coming in we could see how tatty it actually is? Doubt we’ll go again.

Myself and my friend really looked forward to coming here and drinking in the pre bookable Blue Rooms, online it sounded very exclusive (it isn't)! The place is a little tired and could do with a lick of paint. The manager and staff seem well worked and in need of a rest! The cocktails were beautiful. Just don't expect luxury!

We went for bottomless afternoon tea. The food was amazing and so much! The selection of bottomless drinks was extensive outside of the bottomless prosecco. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it. They have gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and 'virgin' (non alcoholic) options so something for everyone.

A bit disappointing. Whilst the brunch food was good, the service on drinks was slow and the cocktails were just pure syrup. Not the best I’ve been to in Nottingham.

I booked a private room for my husband's 50th birthday. Around 70 - 80 people attended. The "Stockholm" room was a perfect, cosy but big enough setting and literally everyone was impressed. The booking process, the answering questions from our own DJ, the resolving anything that could potentially have been an issue - everything was perfect from start to finish. I'll definitely book again (already thinking of an excuse to go back!) 🙂

Had bottomless brunch here. Good value for the price, as the cocktails were also bottomless and staff were attentive with refills. Cocktails were tasty and well made too. Good vibe as well inside. Food was decent, but there was lots of sweets and the savoury food could have been more substantial.

Fabulous Venue Great Decor White Russian ok - killed with far too much ice. Old Fashioned also ok - bit generic nothing mega special. Dancing Queen Cocktail lovely and fruity.

Despite being very quiet, with 6 tables free. The staff couldn’t accommodate us for a quick drink at 4pm in the afternoon.

A great place for a relaxed drink with a pretty decent choice of whiskey. There are plenty other drinks to choose from though including a long list of cocktails and i eill definitely be going back.

The entrance is so hidden, we wouldnt have just stumbled across the place, one of our group took us there and glad he did. We were a large group. They offered us a table in a separate room (maybe to keep the noise contained lol). The young waitress was great, such a friendly/ bubbly character, she remembered everyone's drinks without writing them down, drinks arrived quickly, delicious and unique selection of cocktails. Will definitely go back.

Expensive but beautiful bar. The interior is atmosperic and beautifully decorated, very 1940s esque. Would highly reccomend if you want a more quieter and sophisticated experience.

This is a beautiful place no doubt but the service was terrible! Left waiting for ages to order drinks, they took forever to come despite staff standing around and we nearly forgot to pay as we were sat there so long waiting for the bill that we thought we must have paid already. We had to chase people around to get our bill. It wasn’t even full.

Great time visiting the area and especially the arts club. First time out in Nottingham. We were a large group and immediately given a warm welcome by Esma who arranged a private room for us. She confidentiality took our orders and we received them quickly. The surroundings were awesome and just right for our group. Would love to visit again and sample even more of the warm welcome and atmosphere. Thank you ☺️

After hearing great things about the bottomless afternoon tea six of us booked to go and it’s safe to say we will not return. It started out by despite having booked at one price and deposit paid we were emailed to say it had gone up yet the old price was still on the website which we did complain about but to no avail but as we had heard such good things we decided despite this we would still go. On the day We were crammed into a booth that was too small for 6 people because the people in the room we had booked had not left yet. There was a speaker in the booth so we could not hear a word that was said. The staff were not attentive at all and didn’t really seem to know what was going on. The prosecco was horrible and did not flow and despite us asking for no fish which we reiterated and it was confirmed two of the trays had no fish I bit into a salmon sandwich which I detest and when I complained all I got was at least your not allergic!! It was so dark in the booth it was an absolute roulette into what you were eating. The balance of the food we did eat was nice with the exception of the hefty scones, but all in all very disappointing for £45

This little gem is tucked away behind a little alley and up some stairs. Great decor, friendly staff, lovely drinks and delicious food. Well worth booking.

Came for bottomless brunch, food was stale, service was very bad. Pre ordered vegetarian option wasn’t given. Would never return.

Extremely disappointed. Booked afternoon tea here for my partners birthday and it was terrible. The menu online was different to the afternoon tea served and apart from one waitress the service was awful. We arrived excited to celebrated my partners birthday with a great menu that was advertised online. The waitress serving us was friendly enough but didn’t make much effort to engage in conversation or recognise the booking notes I put about my partners birthday. The afternoon tea arrived and the food was not good. The bread felt stale and the food did not taste fresh at all. We ordered the vegetarian afternoon tea and had asked that it was definitely vegetarian as we had a chicken sandwich which was not advertised on the online menu. A man who I assume was the manager came over and very rudely told us it was “fake turkey”, our waitress then came over and showed us the quorn packet and reassured us it was vegetarian and asked if it was okay, a much better response than the rude manager before her. We then continued to eat our afternoon tea but honestly it was hard to eat, as mentioned the sandwiches were stale and so were the cakes. For the price I was deeply disappointed so much so that I asked for the bill very quickly even though most of the food was uneaten. We were given the bill and I paid without even being asked if we had enjoyed the food, if we wanted to take it away or if there was an issue. This was shocking, the bar was empty and therefore there was no excuse for poor customer service. I will never come back again and I am very disappointed that my partners birthday was ruined by this choice.

Beautiful variety of cocktails and some cheese boards to munch on. I had lychee spritz and it was amazing. We shared a vegetarian cheese board and spent good time here. Atmosphere is lovely and staff is polite and friendly.

Really poor cocktails. They use concentrate juices and syrups rather than fresh fruit and sugar. Trainees aren't taught to taste before serving - probably don't even know what the drinks are meant to taste like. Disappointing:-(

A big group of us went here for afternoon tea which was approx £40 including a welcome alcohol cold tea and a glass of Prosecco- the sandwhichs were dry and curly and all on white bread and hardly any filling -nearly all of us left...

Hmm really expensive place.. They overcharge us, for one medium glass of wine- melbec, and double gin and tonic we paid about £17 which I told them to pour me cheaper.. So hmm, and you never get the bill, so you don't know what you paying for.. The Bar downstairs

Was my stag do on Saturday night and early doors tried to go in for a cocktail, basically the bouncers saw 5 lads and told us we couldnt go in without a booking.. for a drink ? Really. All sober at this stage and we simply walked away. Shame as they had just let a lad and lass straight in seconds before.
