First time we have been to the Highwayman. we were greeted with a spacious car park. On entering the pub we were greeted by the landlord and his wife. Both were friendly and helpful without being over the top. Two carveries for pensioners £4 95p each how good value is that on a Sunday ? There was a choice of pork, beef and gammon cooked just right well we had the succulent pork seven vegetables, creamed spuds and roast spuds. As much as you wanted. The landlord served the meat which was really thick and generous with portions, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. The gravy was of the right consistency and full of flavour the mash was fluffy and tasted lovely. All came on a hot plate and you helped yourself to the veg as most places now do. I would recommend the Highwayman to anyone that wants a good hot roast dinner. We shall return again when we next visit Skeggie

Had and absolutely wonderful carvery here with my granddad today. Couldn't fault any of the food and the staff were very friendly and full of banter. Would definitely eat here again.

My family and I came here over the half term a couple of times and decided to have a carvery on our final day, the food was lovely and well priced at £12 for 2, the helping of meat was a really good size all the food was fresh and well cooked, with a choice of 2 meats and 5 different veg, I would definitely recommend and will definitely return when in the area again. The pub also has really friendly owners, a great atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks, there are numerous dart boards a pool table, quiz machine and fruit machine and also has a children's outdoor play area and ample parking, I would encourage anyone to pop in and have a try, you won't be disappointed. :-)

went there yesterday to try their new Pie and mash, was like being back in London, home made and even the liquer tasted authentic , really enjoyed it, for anyone not familiar with the "green gravy" you can have it with ordinary gravy. all home made and must say it was delicious. I think they are going to make it a regular friday thing, really hope so anyway

Stumbled across this place by accident as we explored off the beaten track. A new establishment with an abundance of home made goodies, cakes and treats. Everything from hot cooked meals, snacks, light bites with a very good selection of hot and cold drinks. The lovely owner was incredibly warm, friendly and accommodating as we were a large group and had both wheelchair and pushchair. Really worth the visit if you're in the area. I'll definitely be visiting next time I'm here.

Took my parents for Sunday lunch. It was busy. Staff were friendly and polite. The menu is extensive and the roasts are not just your standard meat and veg. I had the chicken breast wrapped in pancetta with apricot stuffing. The chicken was tender and moist. The stuffing was lovely but I would have like a little more of it. The Yorkshire pudding was excellent if you prefer your pudding not to crispy. Very nice cauliflower cheese but the stork of it needed more cooking. The beef was very tender but ask for a steak knife as the normal knives just pull it apart. We had extra gravy and it was very good.

Brilliant service, stunning food. The kids enjoyed the homemade vegan and gluten free food and have asked to go back for the tegg, sausages and faken. The wife and I absolutely loved our pick and mix breakfasts (and the free cuppa top up!) & had a lovely chat with the family that own the place while they prepared our food. First place we've been able to go where they can cater for all of our needs, fantastic! Will most definitely be back!!
