Awful place got there and no welcome. Was over run with kids just racing around and screaming. Parents just seating there. Place was dirty. Carvery needed better roast potatoes. And 2 other members of the party had to wait over an hour for thier meal. While kids screams run around crashing Into us. Nothing was said or done about it. Waited ages to be served.

We went for Sunday carvery really nice as so are the staff. I love the steak and ale pie. 20/10/24 we always come here for lunch 😋

We arrived to the pub as a table of 14 and asked Alfie behind the bar if this was possible, Alfie was wonderful and set the table up at short notice and was very welcoming and positive and served us quickly even though he was the only one behind the bar and serving tables. The food was lovely and the drinks flowed! Was lovely to have a excellent experience with family we have not seen in a very long time. Thankyou especially to Alfie for making our experience a 10 out of 10. We will be returning very soon!

Excellent quality of carvery food, my wife and I have eaten here on many occasions but this was our first carvery, we will definitely come back.

We come to this pub frequently and find the staff very friendly and helpful. The food has always been fresh,hot and cooked very well.The carvery is also very nice and fresh we will be back.

The service and quality of offering in this place is an order of magnitude better than it was a couple of years ago. If you've not been for a while, definitely go back.

I can’t fault this pub the service is great my mum has dementia and the staff are great with her always polite and happy. She chats to them and they never hurry her up they are very good. The food is excellent we always have the carvery and the meat is juicy and not dry. We have come on a number of occasions over the last month and all different times. Very accommodating and professional service. Would def give this 5 stars I can’t comment on the menu as we have only ever eaten the carvery. I would just like to point out the manager is ver approachable and friendly

Family meal. Typical pub grub. Food was cooked well so thanks to the chef and kitchen staff. The tables were clean however there wasn’t enough cutlery for the amount of seats at the table. Loved the fact there’s colouring a few machines around for the kiddies: that kept them happy. But the service from the staff was not exactly great. Young lad working looked to be annoyed and barely had a smile in sight, we came before and there was a great team working, but I didn’t recognise any of them.

Food is that of typical pub food. And good value for money but the smells that come with it not so good. Hygiene is a must for me but the lack of it put me off my food. Then income the next nasty smell (dirty dish cloths) every time anyone moved the smell hits you!!! It's such a shame even with the windows open!!

Totally amazing..I took my autistic son who gets very anxious around people even though it wasn't busy the lady kira saw he was struggling to just get in the door and opened up part of that pub that was closed off to accomadate us...my son felt super comfy here and as soon as we left he wanted to know when we could go back....to find somewhere to eat where he is comfy is near on impossible...totally stars and high recommendation to kira and the support for special needs people

Family dinner at weekend. It was okay but definetly won’t be rushing back. It seemed there wasn’t enough staff working. Prices were good. Clean toilets and lots of parking.

stopped in on way to Bury and found they have a big carvery offer with loaded plates of food it was the best value for money when hungry.

All the staff very friendly and helpful. Meal was great. We had hunters chicken and gammon steak with pineapple. Plus a bottle of wine.

Absolutely amazing food and service was second to none. Jack otherwise known as "Oakley" (sorry jack) cooked the most perfect steak not once but 3 perfect steaks thank you jack. My hubby is gluten and wheat intolerant along with lots of other food allergies and the staff couldn't help him enough they reopened the carvery after closing so he could have a proper meal which again was definitely enjoyed. My daughter struggles with eating and even she cleared her plate which says it all. We all left extremely happy and very full thanks again guys we will definitely be seeing you soon. The lakes :)

Met friends for lunch. Large selection of drinks at the bar are available. The menu is good, lots to choose from however one of the ones on our table was sticky. The food was okay. Staff serving the meats on the carvery was friendly and professional but staff defiently not as friendly as last time.

Visiting from Los Angeles and came here with family to eat. The Sunday roast prepared by Stevie was great 10/10. Friendly employees and good atmosphere.

Sunday meal with the family. It was enjoyed but lots of things need work on. The carvery meal was amazing, server of the meat very pleasant and kind, lots of veg. The children’s meals and the burgers let the meal down though. The chips seemed soggy and the pizza was rock hard. Fair priced menu and drinks were enjoyed. More staff were needed.

Staff were very helpful with making sure we had everything we needed for our toddler. They were so welcoming and food came fast which was great for us with the little one. The food was really lovely with thought gone into the presentation and the atmosphere was calm. We are looking forward to going back again!!!

The carvery was very tasty, the beef was delicious. they had ran out green king Ipa but the fosters was a good light replacement and we were looked after very well by the friendly staff..we will be back again soon.

Family lunch time meal yesterday. Average place. Everything seems average apart from the cleanliness which is very good. Toilets and areas all seem clean and tidy. Food is good price but you get what you pay for. Love the fact there is a large car park and some little machines to keep the kiddies entertained.

Visited today. Although the food was very good and enjoyable, some staff were clearly working hard others were not and had a didn’t want to be there type attitude. Clean and tidy and no problem parking. Staff let the visit down sadly.

I went here with my friend at the weekend and I can honestly say it was lovely, it was my first time there and I would definitely go back. We met the lovely Samantha when we first went in and she asked if we could do the track and the trace which we did, she asked if we would like table service or if we are using the app so I got a gold star for having the app (great banter and a laugh from the moment we arrived) we got seated and everything got explained to us by Sam. We did have a problem with the app which was a pain but the staff were more than accommodating when we let them know that we couldn’t get it to work and they took our orders directly and they did apologise, but hey that’s technology and WiFi signals for ya We had a lovely starter and main meal which went down nicely, things did kinda come out quickly but it wasn’t a problem as I was hungry. Tom behind the bar was working his little socks off the whole time we were there with all his drink making and when I had to pay my bill he was so friendly and chatty it was really nice to see. Sitting inside was great after all this time and Samantha and her team made it a great first time visit for us, all staff had masks on and the pub was very clean and tidy overall. We were welcomed, and served by a waitress who was on her first day. For someone who was only on day 1, Emily was very polite and offered fantastic service to make our visit very enjoyable.The food was lovely, and served with a smile (we assume a smile under facemasks :D)Fantastic first shift Emily, and great to enjoy a meal out again.

I very rarely write reviews. When I do its either for exceedingly good service, or as in this case, a disappointing experience. The pub/restaurant is perfectly nice, pleasant place to sit and talk with the family. All felt clean and safe in the tail end of covid life, but many items of the menu were missing, ok things can sell out. The app would not let you customise 2 of the same meals with different options, everything you changed on one burger choice, when you checked the 2nd burger meal it had altered to match the 1st. That was annoying at least. What is also annoyingis the lack of mobile signal to use the app which timed out during payment. The £1 per slice of cheese were missing from both these burgers, 2 different pies were handed out called the wrong names by staff, but by the time it was acknowledged it was to late to realistically swap meals over. But biggest annoyance of the evening, my parents 40th wedding anniversary, was that it took an hour for food to arrive, and when it did, all the food arrived. Starters and meals, there was barely room to plate up the lot on our table and none of the staff thought to say anything, so when asked if it was usual for starters and mains to come together, I was told the kitchen staff must have been busy and got confused??? Food was nice enough. Were planning to be ordering pudding and coffees, (luckily didn't at the same time as the starters and mains as would have melted by the time we could have eaten them.) but thought better of it and got the kids mc flurries on the way home instead.

Just come back from lunch at The Highwayman Graveley. I must say we really enjoyed our meal as usual. The staff are fantastic and helpful. The carvery is the best Ive had in the Stevenage area. My friends and I came in just before lockdown happened. We were best pleased with the service and the food. The food was absolutely amazing, and didn’t take long to come out at all. The workers were lovely and made us feel very welcomed. I highly recommend a trip to this pub !

Had a lovely meal here with my family it was my 21st birthday and the staff went out of there way to make sure i had a good birthday one employee even even brought a dessert to me as a happy birthday cake she said you can't enjoy a birthday without a cake she was so nice polite and i would definitely recommend this place to anyone friends or family very welcoming and friendly staff thank you so much you were all fantastic ill definitely be going agin xxx

I met up with friends that I hadn't seen for a few months. Staff were very friendly and helpful. 2 of us used the app and 2 ordered through staff. I cannot find fault with either way of ordering food. The food itself was to a good standard. I will certainly be returning again and recommending the pub to my family and friends.

From the moment we arrived, we couldn't fault them. We were met at the door, asked to scan the QR and then the whole process was explained to us. It was like a well oiled machine.Carvery was first class. Best carvery I've ever had.Felt completely safe and relaxed. Staff were attentive but not overpowering. All in all a really nice experience.

I've been a regular there for years so it was interesting to see how they would cope with Covid-19 restrictions. I mostly go with my father for regular catch-ups and both of us feel safe there. All staff were wearing masks and visors from the beginning of their move to 'Pub Safe' and one person is a dedicated cleaner/sanitiser of surfaces for their whole shift. (They wear very visible black Pub Safe t-shirts.)Staff has changed since Covid-19. There are more people on the flooroughly or and each hasa dedicated jo to avoid interaction as much as possible. Very wise. There are quite a few young staff who are thoroughly delightful, very accomodating and clearly enjoy serving the public. I would name Erin, Olivia and Danny as young folk who have been particularly welcoming, polite and helpful.The relatively new manager keeps a tight team, seems very approachable and maintains standards. For example, last time we visited, she wanted almost full servings of sprouts and broccoli to be changed before further servings as they had turned a little dark green and were over-cooked. Out came bright fresh light green sprouts and just as fresh broccoli for our servings. And if you want the very best carvery serving ever, hope for Danny on duty. He is also so friendly and helpul as he does it.If you want to feel safe but maintain a little bit of socialising sanity, visit.

Banging food! Great service, very quick and two brilliant and lovely young servers, who kept us entertained and put a bigger smile on our faces than we had when we walked in!!
