The Highgate Inn in Haringey

Really quite a clique-y little place. It seems nice for locals and the prices are much lower than the normal London average, but my friends and I were turned down at 11:30 saying last orders had passed a few months ago, went down the road to the karaoke place as it was the only place open, and then on the way back at 3am it was still open with people standing outside holding beers. I imagine with that attitude they’re already busy enough and have their own crowd, but I would avoid it if you haven’t already got a relationship with the management because they’re very likely to turn you down.

Nice decor and ambience in the rear room. Wine was nice. Bartender/ waiter kept coming to our table reminding us several times from 30 mins before closing until 5 mins before closing that it was going to close. No need for that kind of hounding! We aren't stupid. Got the message the first time. You just ruin the atmosphere doing that. Pls don't project your own anxiety and rush to finish work onto customers.

Arguably the worst experience I've had ever. After working there I realised does nothing pass the relative health and safety checks but all beers on draught are Holsten Pilsner presumably too save money however that is illegal and has been reported to trading standards. Too boot the owner is a proper tosspot

The owner was abusive to staff at 2am half pissed. The Heineken was definitely not Heineken this is coming from someone who has drunk it for 10 years so I can tell however don't want to seem like a snob

I was passing through looking for a place where I could have a beer, suddenly I came across the right place, the service and magnificent, the extraordinary atmosphere, I came back and I highly recommend it, and especially the girl who my serve she was adorable ,thanks so much for everything

Too packed and someone stole my pint right from my table when my back was turned and no-one did anything about it!

Best owner about. Loves a Bacardi & coke. Fully recommend

PLEASE READ - Nice pub with great staff - unfortunately I was in there one evening and had a lock in with some friends who know Dennis (The guy who runs the pub) there was a lovely lady there who was off shift. After 1 round of drinks I was listening to what Dennis was saying to her, quite aggressively I might add and persisted to make her cry - she then openly said “that’s it break me down and build me back up again Dennis” she then went on to say “im leaving” she didn’t do so (I’m not sure if she was scared she may lose her job) Dennis response to this was “Don’t go anywhere, sit down and have another drink. You know the difference between the Irish and the English? (I thought there was a joke coming) The Irish can have a drink and a laugh and get over a joke” which in itself is a laughable remark to make, considering half the table was English and half the table was Irish. I’d like to think I have a semi decent sense of humour but at no point was their even a-bit of flirtatious banter between Dennis and this lady - it was emotional manipulation and abuse. I hastily snuck off to the toilet to compose myself and my thoughts. When I got back I put on my jacket on and told Dennis a little bit about himself and that everyone around that table shouldn’t hang out with a man that emotionally bully’s his own friends/staff/people he knows and makes them feel as small and Dennis’ brain in other words absolutely minute. If this was in the 70s it would and probably should have been handled differently. Lovely pub with lovely staff but the owner is nasty, abusive, openly racist towards a nation where he lives and makes his money.

Fantastic food and super friendly service

Absolutely appalling behaviour from the owner. A group of young women entered the bar last night and before we even had got through the front door, we were challenged by the owner and demanded our ID’s in an extremely aggressive tone. We genuinely thought he was joking and having a laugh but clearly he wasn’t and got very rude! Do not go near this bar! The owner needs to get off his high horse and realise people are paying customers. Ps - hit a redner, your bars a scrapper!

All my rounds were 17.40 for three drinks then one round I was charged 40. For same drinks I was robbed and I didn’t realise as was tapping away until I checked statement next morning! Owner is rude as well!

Racially profiled on arrival - my friends were let in but I was not. Disgusting

Aggressive, confrontational and rude manager. My friends were let in but once I entered the owner came from a table full of people drinking and demanded I show my ID. He was in normal clothes and had come from a table full of drinks… I obviously thought that this was a joke and laughed. He then put his hands on me and forceful removed me from his premises. I was very confused and so asked for the reasoning (as I had my identification on me and was ready to show). Nasty and horrible man. Do not go!!!!!

A group of 6 of us walked in, the first three (all white male & female) had walked in no problem. But when the rest of us (not all white) walked in, we were immediately racially profiled. We were immediately stopped by the owner and told to leave until we could prove that we were of age. Aggressive and confrontational, it was clear he was trying to impress his mates at his table. Balding and in normal clothes, the owner made a massive fuss of not allowing us to even enter his premises, without even asking us to prove our age (of which we were all legal). He’s clearly racist and has been operating an unlicensed premises for years.

Really good, like the very best irish pubs but tucked away on the archway road.

Bartender made a mistake but he was tiredd, this spot is vibe. Come & hang x

Lovely pub, great prices and lots of beers

The new guy bartending is the rudest person ever. Been there twice in the last two weeks and his behavior is just bad when serving people. Shame because the environment it’s nice and the previous guy was very polite.

Looks like no one takes care. Old Christmas decorations and it's spring. We spent there quite a few hours and no one even put amy music on

A proper pub, great atmosphere and welcoming host. We went after our running club and had a great evening, will definitely be back. Also - some good non alcoholic bottled beers as well as a great range of beers on draught.

Normally love this place but was given wine purporting to be New Zealand Suavignon Blanc but it was not. shame.

We had a good evening here recently and really enjoyed ourselves. This was our first visit. The atmosphere was good and both staff and customers were friendly towards us. We would recommend.

Rude owner kicked entire group out for not continuously buying drinks - told us never to show our faces again. Usually nice pub but prioritises money over customers. Edit (in response to the owners reply): 1 - we were all 18, which if the staff had bothered to ID us, they would have known 2 - we had spent easily over around £200 in total throughout the night 3 - your final point is completely untrue and there was no physical or verbal abuse 4 - there appeared to be one of your under eighteen year old (at most 14-15) family members present and drinking throughout the night so your new 21 rule is again a fabrication

I am not allowed to use the words I would like to on here to describe the owner, here are some that may suffice: rude, loud, vulgar and intimidating. We went there for a leaving party of our friend in a group of maybe 8-12. The fight was on that night and we must have spent at least £20 per person on drinks, probably more, in spite of this the owner thought it was appropriate to shout at us for not buying enough drinks despite how much we had already spent. As a result of this I can only give the place a 1 star review. All the other staff looked sick of the way he was running the place and one actually came and apologised for it. Do not come to this pub.

I visited The Highgate Inn recently in a group of 10, as my good friend was moving away. The owner of the pub waited at our table until we were finished a drink in order to shout at us until we bought another - not a minute given to rest and chat with pals. His tone was extremely rude. I was very disheartened to see the owner lied about us in a response to my friends review, “abusing and threatening” a worker, this is too far and not something to joke about even to save face!

Brilliant pub. The atmosphere is great and the location is perfect. The interior design and unique features to the pub is what stands out most to me, and it is all topped off by friendly, welcoming staff. Definitely worth a visit!

Lived in the area for a while but this is a fairly recent discovery. Got so much time for the opening hours! A proper “one for the road” gem. Now a mandatory last stop whenever I’m out on a big one!

Excellent pub. A small, snug den of a place with a reasonable selection of beers and a great range of whisky.

Staff are a fun, funny and friendly. We play darts there every time we go, always great place for a few late drinks.

Hidden gem, bigger inside than it seems, quite cozy inside!

Pub advertised as open until 2am every day and bar man closed the bar before 1.30am on a busy night, without any last orders and a rude tone. Barman was also holding a lit cigarette behind the bar and smoking. Would not recommend this place at all no customer focus towards the clientel.

Amazing place with amazing staff pls visit.

I previously added a negative review for this pub and was hounded by Facebook for years, I assume by the woman who used to work here who I mentioned. She obviously has some issues and I hope she can find a way to resolve them. I went back in a couple of months ago and this place is now wonderful. Staff are very friendly and polite, and there is a much better atmosphere.

My favourite pub in Highgate and I like the pubs round here. Great atmosphere, music, staff and landlord. Not the best for beer snobs (good Guiness and whiskey) or people wanting food (Taytos) But you will talk to people you have never met, dance and have a good time. Good for a quiet Saturday afternoon watching the football as well.

I really like this pub, the Guinness is fab, it's got a down-to-earth vibe, it's cozy, you can watch sports and it always looks great at Halloween and Christmas. They also sell Tayto and Meanies! Irish people will definitely like it. They also have frozen cocktails for the ladies :)

Cosy pub. Always excellent service and they always make the effort for every occasion, Halloween, Christmas etc, going the extra mile to decorate the pub.

Lovely little pub in Highgate village with a friendly team and a good quiz night

Characterful pub in an old building with low ceilings. Irish owned and has truly fabulous Guinness and a high quality selection of whisky. If you like soul and jazz played to professional standards try Stomping Crew twice a month on Sundays!

Extremely pleasant pub. Cosy atmosphere, although it's bigger than it looks. Comfortable. Relaxing. Good selection of beers and other drinks, including cocktails. Clean, well kept, friendly staff. Would recommend and go again.

My wife and I simply happened on this pub two weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon and noticed the board outside advertising live music that night. Although we’d not planned to stay late in the Highgate area we thought we’d give it a try. What a fabulous night! The musical talent on display was nothing short of amazing. So .. I’ve just come away from a second Sunday night there and amongst other fantastic singers she musicians I heard a singer called Cindy whose voice was just immaculate, full of power emotion and energy. The staff are fantastic and the setting can only be described as being a proper pub. Nothing to complain about at all .. if you couldn’t enjoy at least some of what this pub offers .. you’re the problem

El Inn tiene un gran ambiente y está decorado de forma característica, lo que le da un ambiente acogedor, especialmente en invierno cuando se utiliza la chimenea abierta. He vivido a la vuelta de la esquina de este pub durante 3 años.Tuve el placer de entrar en un cálido y acogedor palacio de luces de hadas anoche por primera vez.No tenía idea de que se remontaba tanto debido al pequeño frente.Ambiente encantador, buen pub antiguo donde puedes conocer a los lugareños.Me encanta la máquina de discos y pasaré todo el tiempo que pueda entre mis vecinos. ¡Qué hallazgo!P. I love it here, the landlord is always on form the beer is always clean and the sport is always available. Also great menu for burgers. Tayto crisps, great ambiance

Nice enough pub but rubbish selection of beers on tap. 6 lagers that, lets face it, all taste the same and Guinness.

lovely traditional pub with no food but a such a tight knit community with a clear irish feel to it!!!!!! defo recommend for family’s, alkys and anyone up for having an amazing night in an amazing pub!!!!!

I'm giving this a 4 because staff is so nice and after parties are cool till late in the night with lovely locals. Otherwise it's just an average Inn where you can get a drink. I would recommend this for late night.

I know this place but I don't remember ever going in it seems like such a little pub they have seating arrangements outside and always flags up for World Cup events

Such a shame could be a really nice pub.although service was good.place was almost empty. Not a place to take family or kids due to smoking inside. It defo is not a place to take a lady.. Reminds me of v old worn down pub although nice decor. Way to easy going that it makes u feel uncomfortable.

Was there 3 wk ends ago was asked by tall barmaid who seemed friendly at first to write a review .but a to write a bad one about a place u work in is diabolical.. after finding out why just made me think of trouble obnoxious person she is and made me douth the fact that im drinking in a place of which she said was dirty..im.supriesd she did not bar me from the pub after i gave her my oppion..i even made a new page up as i did not want this on my one..but i could not drink in there again due to the fear that drinks are mixed etc..or not???

wont be returning smoking in side was too much. we thought it changed due to the new managers in her late 40s Irish so we were told when asking who she was.she was also rude to my Gf. and friendly to locals

Great atmosphere and truly exceptional choice of drinks.

One of the best pubs I know in the area. Does what it says on the tin. Great staff, great landlord! Basic pub food but an amazing selection of whiskey. Will put any sport you want watch on (obviously if there isn't a huge tournament going on) Unfortunately doesn't have a separate outside area, only a few tables on the main road at the front of the pub. Still one of my favourite pubs in London!! 🍻
