Kata in Haringey

Food arrived on time and was all prepared well, and yet I am still left feeling short changed because the quality of the food was rather under par. I would really struggle to recommend their sushi and poke to anyone.

This great place moved to Harringay Green Lanes with Brohaha Bar, opposite the Salisbury pub. Excellent japanese food always!!

We had pork gyozas, pumpkin korroke, brocolli tofu, chicken ramen and salmon katsu curry. All delicious and promptly served. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is a joke. Food was poor quality, avocado looked about a week old and the portion sizes were tiny. Poor quality (even Tesco sushi is better) and hugely overpriced considering the tiny boxes - would suggest you actively avoid.

Ordered via deliveroo, waited for 2 hours but never delivered. total waste of time.

Had dinner at the splendidly refurbished Fountain pub. The best salmon katsu curry I've ever tasted, so fresh! gyozas tasty and plump. This is a real find in this area, better cooking than some of the japanese places in town even. Highly recommend.

this was the worst sushi I've had in my life. I never leave reviews but this time I just had too. The maki were overfilled and falling appart, the rice was still warm and quite mushy, and whoever thought tempura philadelpia roll was a good idea should be shot. If you care about food quality dont order the sushi here.

I was really really unhappy with my food from Kata. I had the sushi variety dish and the fish really smelled off. Especially the prawn and the smaller salmon rolls. Definitely wasn’t made fresh to order. As the sushi was packed next to the teriyaki, it was also warm. I had a couple of bits of the sushi before I realised it smelled off, and then had to throw the rest away. It gave me a bad stomach ache. I’m so upset as I haven’t treated myself to sushi in awhile and I was looking forward to this. It was really awful and I’m so disappointed. Kata need to check what other fish they have been using because it’s not fresh and that’s dangerous. I've emailed the restaurant to let them know and haven't heard back. Really disappointing.

Great place. Only had takeaway but superb service. Always early and as ordered. Katsu curries are very good value.

EDIT: Once, I could could get through to them over the phone, we rectified the issue quite swiftly. I was impressed by their politeness and prompt action - the opposite of the initial experience. Turns out it's worth giving a second chance sometimes. I placed an order for dinner via a third party app. I have not received half of my order. I told the delivery gentleman who said he cannot do anything about it, I need to call the restaurant. I tried to contact the restaurant, but nobody answered the phone number given via the app or on their own website. The app's customer service could not help sort my issue as Kata Japanese @Brouhaha has never marked my order as complete (note I am writing this review 24 hours later as I could still not get through to the restaurant and the app still cannot do anything, because my order is still not marked as delivered). So a day later, have not received half of my dinner for last night or a refund for its price. This is not great service from either of the companies. I am beyond disappointed (and was hungry as well last night...).

plus side... food was kinda hot and the sushi looked presentable. Bad side no flavour just bland and over cooked salmon which was so suprising because its supposed to be Japanese and they deffo know how to cook a piece of Salmon! Just so disappointed 😞 pressed the button for noodles and got rice and when I called up to let them know the member of staff decides to tell me I don't want raw salmon! Just cooked nicely would have been good thanks mate! I know sometimes mistakes are made however it really bugs me when restaurants try to make out you don't know how to cook!! It was rock hard and dry!! Oh well the hunt for decent take out sushi continues!

I have been ordering at kata for several months (basically since lockdown). Delivery were always super fast and free. Food is good but I'm giving 5 stars instead of 4 for the service which is one of the nicest around as they always took in considerations my requests giving me also free sides even without reaching the normal threshold of £25 spent. About the actual food, I have tried several dishes. -My favourite is the unagidon. I have also tried unagidon in many other restaurants and this is one of the best. The downside is that it is quite small, not enough to fill you despite the price. - Sushi, not much variety for the sushi offered. in terms of quality, it is fairly average. They don't have uramaki. Despise in the picture of maki they look like uramaki, they are actually futomaki (the big ones with seaweek outisde). Didn't particularly enjoy the deep fried ones as too heavy. But classic hosomaki are alright - bento boxes. Both chicken and salmon are katsu curry. Size of the bento is good and they taste good. I would preferred if there were more bento to choose from. - agedashi tofu. Love it and highly recommended - gyoza, both the vegetables and chicken gyoza are alright. Although I'm not particularly a fan of deep fried gyoza - muso soup is alright

I ordered through Deliveroo. Sushi was better than I expected. Very tasty. Not the cheapest place but i think i will order again.

Ordered takeaway direct with Kata over the phone. Best to order direct as spends over £25 get a free side and free delivery. Sushi rolls were very good. 4 stars as it's a bit on the pricey side, but really good quality food and I will order again!

Ordered take away. When it arrived the soup had half spilled from the container into the plastic bag. I ordered the soba dish and it was extremely salty! Left half of it uneaten. Extremely disappointed!

Una orden de entrega de 50 muy decepcionante. La comida estaba tibia cuando llegó (¿por qué ahora bolsa térmica?) Sin el sushi que pedí. El sushi llegó 25 minutos tarde después de llamar al restaurante. Todos los platos también eran de muy mala calidad: los edamame estaban demasiado cocidos y no estaban crujientes; el Bento Box tenía arroz frío y salmón mal cocido; el ramen de pollo carecía de condimento real y el Langostino Ebi Chili Men era demasiado dulce y pegajoso. El sushi no estaba fresco y sabía como si hubiera estado sentado por un tiempo. Considerándolo todo, realmente espantoso y muy caro para la calidad. Tuve que tirar la mayor parte de la comida. EVITE y espere hasta que Wagamama vuelva a abrir.

I've been going to them for takeaways for several years and the service has always been good. They are not the cheapest but the quality of the sushi and curries is excellent. Delivery is prompt even in bad weather and at busy times of the day. I had a mistake with an order once when only 1 beer was delivered instead of the 4 I'd ordered, this was sorted with a call to the restaurant and 4 beers were delivered straight away at no extra cost 🙂

I have been going to and ordering from Kata for many years, and it is easily my favourite Japanese restaurant. For the price, it cannot be beaten.

La espera fue muy larga, después de que pedimos comida Uber, esperamos casi dos horas para que llegara la comida. No nos llamó la atención, hacía frío por toda la espera, simplemente está bien, nada especial.

We ordered online at 8:20pm and food only arrived at 9:50pm, this required ringing the restaurant twice to be told it is out for delivery (the restaurant is 15mins away from my house yet delivery took over 40mins) this lead to the hot food arriving cold. The food is of decent quality, but if you are waiting 1hour and 30mins before you can eat go for someone more reliable as you will enjoy it much more. Will not be ordering again

Brilliant chicken katsu curries, a staple of our winter diet. Call when you’re at the station, your food will be ready by the time you arrive at the pub, ready to pick up! They also deliver home and bring a card machine too.

Don't be fooled. This is a dodgy takeaway out the back of a dive pub. The only one time I ate here the food was inedible . I doubt if any of the cooking staff are Japanese, or event trained there. Much better options are available locally. You have been warned.

Ordered a delivery. Me and my friend got a seaweed salad each and were both really looking forward to it. What came was 5% seaweed, 15% salad leaves, and 80% white cabbage which for £5.50 seems ridiculous.. Should be called 'white cabbage salad with mixed leaves and sprinkled with seaweed'... My aubergine katsu curry however, was as I expected, v. tasty, hence me not giving a 1 star review... However there are other restaurants where I can get the same meal but with a proper seaweed salad, therefore will not be buying from here again!!!

Let me start by saying the food is 5 star! Not one single complaint there. I have had three different versions of Chicken Katsu Curry and by far this is the best! The Prices are amazing! I paid £21 for two Katsu curries and Ebi katsu. As far as the venue.... bare with it. The pub looks broken and run down, you will want to run away (I nearly did). The main door takes you into a small bar which may be a little rowdy so if you stick to the small door to the left you'll be slightly less daunted. Also just a heads up that the pub and restaurant have separate tills. The bar will take your drinks order (slightly expensive) and the food will be done with someone else. PLEASE do not pass up based on the area and the pub. GOOD LUCK! :)

Japanese food available, medium range. The staff at the bar is not very friendly. They ask you to pay at the table before even to open the bottle of wine.

I always look at restaurant reviews before ordering from ubereats and I thought I would have enjoyed this restaurant based on the positive reviews. How wrong was I. I ordered chicken teriyaki with rice and chicken karaage. I don’t know what it was I ate last night but it wasn’t Japanese. Chicken was in thick batter balls and covered in a sauce so far from teriyaki, it was sour. The karaage was over cooked, heavily salted, in thick batter too and just plain strange. It’s supposed to be a light dish, crispy one the outside and soft in the middle what I had was dry all through. Will never order from here again. I’ll stick to Tokyo diner in china town if I want something authentic. One star for rice and temperature of food.

He estado disfrutando la comida en su última tienda en el maravillosamente relajado y vibrante Brouhaha Bar & Diner. . instalado en el uber - trendy Green Lanes N 4. . imposible tener una gran comida aquí. ¡Bien, con toda la increíble y famosa comida turca por aquí! se sorprenderá al encontrar una versión de la cocina japonesa que golpea el lugar.Confíen en mí, todos esos años de visitar el árido interior de 'aburrido - gravia' donde se congregan todos los tristes restos japoneses, solo tristes porque parecen no tener ni idea de comida sabrosa y servicio al cliente. . . sin embargo, Kata tiene montones de abonos, solo tienes que hacer un pequeño viaje, ligeramente hacia el norte. . aah. . no te preocupes . lo vas a hacer. . . para la experiencia de la comida, los sabores y los precios japoneses adecuados que se tratan de una noche de amigos y familiares. . no así los altos precios del West End por la misma 'cosa'.

Sorry guys for one star I want to give minus -5 stars to the pub but they hiding on Google maps and I know the reason . I willy love the sushi and the food in this place and the place as Well! But the pub staff was so horrible to me and my company last night, just because we want to play pool with my friends, we signed and wait for our turn bud the pub staff and all the guys who was playing the pool tell me that I have to play with the guy who was on the table all night and he is the winner, why I need to play with him and I never meet this guy can someone explain that to me! Plus pay my money for him to play???? What is this staff. Who are thay???? So horrible Crew!!! Wish to com back for the best sushi in London but not to the same horrible workers. He estado comprando en Kata durante años y siempre he disfrutado totalmente de su comida, pero no hace mucho tiempo, qué variedad de set de desorden ordenó y gyoza de pollo y cerdoLos rollos de variedad han disminuido a la mitad del tamaño pero los precios han subido. Los rollos de mano que están incluidos. El crujiente rollo de ensalada de salmón sabía que la piel de salmón estaba cocinada la semana pasada tenía la textura de cartón, el rollo de torpedo de gambas tenía medio camarón y estaba lleno de arrozLas gyozas eran tan pequeñas y secas que podías probar que definitivamente no estaban recién cocinadasNo puedo enfatizar lo decepcionado que estoy en Kata Japanese Restaurant

Great food, amazing rolls & hand rolls, prawn torpedo is to die for!!! Very good quality of food and fish is always fresh! I've been a customer for over 4 years and never had any problem. Hopefully one day they will start deliver to Enfield Town ;-)

Its bad enough the Chicken is not cooked properly and the Sushi is poor, The delivery cyclists make up the prices as they go along. Never again!!!!

The Sushi is nice. The chicken Terayaki unfortunately is a letdown. The chicken is raw and definetely not even half cooked. And dont bother asking for chopsticks they always forget to include them.

Me encontré con este restaurante, aunque revisando la fuente Pub y me di cuenta de que tenía un restaurante, así que decidí probar el servicio para llevar.Yo estaba muy contenta de haberlo hecho, la elección era muy buena y fácil de ordenar en línea. Además puedes pagar con tarjeta cuando la persona entrega llega.La comida era muy buena y sabrosa tuve el pollo teriyaki y mi marido tenía tofu y dijo que era excelente. Bastante precios razonables y los tamaños de porción eran buenas. Sin duda vale la pena probarlo. Nos puede ir y probar el restaurante como resultado.

The best food ever and good service

I am usually to buy delivery food from this restaurant and I can say about the food that is very nice and about the delivery is quickly. I give them four starts because the website is very slow, fortunately they are on HungryHouse.

Super quick delivery and really delicious food. I'm not normally that into Japanese food, but I'm slightly addicted to Kata! The gyoza are incredible, and I love the prawn tempura and teriyaki salmon too.

Best local japaneese and quite a good selection of vegan/vegetarian options. Go for the tofu katsu, delish! Oh and the prices are very affordable too. Love this place!

Japanese food in an english pub... Quite strange but simply delicious!!! I'm addicted to their Pork bite size katsu with the amazing yakitori sauce! I can't stop eating it! The staff is so friendly and you can have everything for a reasonable price! Recommended!

I had never heard about this place but my mate suggested we pop in as the pub which it is based in would be showing the football and it had ''great Japanese food''. I was sceptical to say the least but I was blown away. We bought a sushi and sashimi platter to share and it was very fresh. I was surprised in all honesty. I had a Prawn Torpedo Roll that was incredible. And all this hidden away on West Green Road?! I needed a bit more substance so ordered a Katsu Curry. Again I didn't expect much, but it wipes the floor with anything Wagamama's do. The portion was great! The sauce was addictive and the breaded chicken tender with a whole load of rice. I was so impressed I realised it delivered free to areas nearby in North London. I've since last week ordered again. Decided as it was an evening to just get hot food which included Soba noodles, THAT Katsu Curry and some Torpedo Rolls for others to sample and they were not disappointed.

As someone who loves sweet food I have to say I'm loving the takeaway. Some dishes i have tried were not quite to my liking but ican't really say if its the dish or how they made it so I'm not going to penalize them for it.

Really quick delivery and largely good. Be aware if ordering the inari pockets, they have spring onions and some other stuff in them which isn't usual for this item and isn't mentioned on the menu. It meant I couldn't eat them so that was a bit disappointing.

This is the "food service" part of the Fountain pub and as such was a very nice surprise. It is Japanese food, but a much wider range than the well known chain that dominates shopping centres. Vegetarian choice was excellent and it was quickly served, fresh and tasty. Managers may do well to promote it as it was very unexpected in its pub setting and perhaps many people don't know it's there..?

For the record, the photo in Google Maps is wrong. The actual Kata shop in the photo is closed and they have relocated to The Fountain pub just down the road, so the bizzare street view location dropping in a seemingly random place IS correct! I was looking to have a sit down meal, so it was rather disconcerting to walk into a (rather deserted!) English pub for Japanese food! (Stranger things have happened I suppose!). The bar staff were courteous enough and called up someone from the kitchen to serve us. The service was prompt, and the food was ok, nothing to go crazy over, and could do with a little more seasoning. Prices were fair, BUT the drink service was not good because you have to order drinks at the pub bar instead of the menu. I never knew Coke came in bottles so tiny that even with ice they did not fill a normal size bar glass! That was a major fail on the pub's behalf. I have not tried the delivery service so I cannot comment on that.
