Not kid friendly cafe. Door is automatically sensor. Kids can go out so easily. The play facility area with strong spotlight. And not really suitable for all ages. And it plays very loud pop music. One waitress s nice while another one is quite rude and inpatient.

Unsafe for kids and extremely rude: One child just got very badly injured under one of their tables because there were screws without caps sticking out. Their response was that it's not their responsibility because it was outside the play area. Disgraceful!

Health and Safety issues - I wouldn't let my child run around there anymore! Most of their tables are missing caps with screws sticking out. We saw a child hitting his head very badly and was taken to the hospital immediately. There is also no guard/gate separating soft play area from the main one. - Their response was that they are not responsible because it didn't happen inside the play area. They have metal pieces (screws without caps) sticking out of their tables!!!

!!!Urgent Warning!!! Attention all families: Avoid Beans & Barley at all costs! Our recent visit to their play area turned into a nightmare when our child suffered a severe accident due to their shocking lack of basic safety measures. A missing wheel on a toy train caused our toddler to fall and sustain a deep, bleeding head wound from a ridiculously long, protruding thread of a bolt sticking out from under a nearby table. This disregard for basic safety measures is inexcusable and poses an imminent threat to small children. UPDATE to the answer from the owner: Please post the CCTV. He was clearly on the playground matt, sitting on the train, due to the lack of your trains wheels, and no fence separating the play area and the dining area, he felt off the train backwards and under the table. He was not playing under the table as it wasn't even our table, but another customers sitting there. All your tables should have caps on those threads, as it's a basic safety on all the furniture regarding if it's near the play area or not. We will be happy to receive the CCTV. We also have other witnesses that confirm what happened.

Play area is unsafe for smaller children. Saw a horrible accident where the child fell into one of the tables too close to the play area (there are no barriers) and had to go to hospital. Drinks and tea were also overpriced for the area.

Best place to go with kiddies!! Meets expectations of all! The back of the cafe is suitable for family’s while the front is suitable for non families. Theres a live DJ on Fridays and Saturdays! The DJs played amazing songs! Oh and the coffee!!! Amazing!! The staff is super friendly and smiley!!!

Super friendly staff. Large menu of brunch, lunch and dinner items along with cakes and patisserie counter. Lovely coffees. Although our breakfast arrived lukewarm, the staff replaced the eggs when we requested it. The salads were quite basic with little dressing and we gave feedback direct to the owner who was lovely and checked on us after the meal. Variety options for all dietary requirements. Incredibly friendly staff and nice seating with blankets for the indoor glass conservatory! Space for kids birthday parties.

Great friendly restaurant, came here for our child's birthday party and it was a great place for it with good play area, plenty of space and good reasonable price and drinks! Would definitely recommend for kids parties and gatherings, and will be coming again for a peaceful(ish) pint while the kids play,

We booked a large table here for my daughters 2nd Birthday and so pleased we choose Beans&Barley, the kids had an amazing time in the play area while the adults relaxed with delicious food and drinks. The staff allowed us to put some balloons and decorations up, were wonderfully friendly and made a big fuss when we did the cake. We felt very welcome and looked after, I would definetly recommend this place for a kids birthday, has everything you need to make it a very special occasion!

The place its greatest ever but the change of personal it’s annoying regular costumers. A few days ago I and my friends we went for a drink and we felt uncomfortable, we ordered a dessert and before even finishing our plate a member of Staff (Male- middle Old age man) without even thinking we may stil eating he just took our plates and left didnt even ask us if we want something else, thats very poorly costumer service of him. He should have go and have a training how to look after costumer and then work on floor to serve. Disgusting wil never go back waste of money for a dessert that we couldnt finish

Very unfriendly staff. We were very disappointed and shocked by the level of hospitality shown to us as a young family. We were made to feel unwelcome and unwanted from the first minute we arrived, with staff surly and creating a bad atmosphere. At one point a male member of staff physically grabbed my arm which is COMPLETELY unacceptable and is lucky to not be facing a a talk from the Metropolitan Police. We are a young family with small children just looking for a nice meal and a coffee and we will NOT be returning again.

I’m an actor and every week I come here to learn lines and have a coffee. The atmosphere is lovely; chilled music that isn’t too loud and charming decor. Everyone who works here is super attentive and friendly, the juices are totally fresh (you can literally see them juicing the fruit from scratch behind the bar) and the food is delicious and elegantly presented. You can get a nice brunch for not too much, making it the perfect place to go if you’re hungover or just need to chill. Never been here for cocktails but I definitely intend to one night. All in all, a brilliant cafe and bar; whether you want coffee and a work environment or drinks with friends, Beans and Barley is North London’s best kept secret.

Hosted our 3 year old birthday party last week and I must say it was a delightful experience from booking to meal. Management is kind and accommodating, the staff is efficient, friendly and the decor is exquisite. We ordered sharers and kids meals and everything was delicious, especially for a bistro cafe. The kids loved the play area and parents could eat and chat in peace knowing they were safe. Great atmosphere. Overall, it’s an easy recommend.

Great area for cocktails. I sat outside with the smokers, inside was empty. Polestar martini and pina colada were pretty good!

Really good breakfast and the waitresses are very polite and helpful. The sausage with egs and cheese, with perfect toasts, delicious. Coffee also well balanced.

What could have been a 4 or 5 star experience, ruined by one incredibly rude, unreasonable member of staff. We were brought our drink. After taking a sip it was apparent that they'd brought us the wrong order. We raised this with the waitress immediately and they brought us the right drink, leaving the wrong one with us. No problem, nothing to complain about. However, what they didn't tell us is the £5 orange juice we never ordered was added to our bill. The waitresses were friendly and tried to be accommodating. The lady at the bar, issuing bills, was awful. When we asked for it to be removed from the bill she responded "then why did you drink it?". Not a single apology or ounce of understanding/reasoning. I explained that if the drink they brought to us in error wasn't on the house, they should have taken it away when we told them it was the wrong order. She continued to argue with us, telling us we were wrong to drink it; should therefore pay for it; and that it wasn't her fault that we got the wrong order. Her confrontational approach and stubbornness even prompted a waitress to offer to pay for it out of her own pocket. Unfortunately management was not available, as I wanted to speak to them to ensure the waitress didn't have it deducted from her pay. We left feeling angry, frustrated, and sorry for the waitresses. We will not be going back.

Lovely play area without having to compromise on adult restaurant/sitting area which is also very nice with comfortable chairs and tables. We had a lovely time with our toddler and food was reasonably priced and great staff.

As an American visitor, I was quite impressed and satisfied with the English style and flavor.

Really nice place for having dinner, lunch or just coffee. Very convenient for bringing children because there is small playground place for little one. I was participating family meeting in Beans&Barley with children. Food was amazing, very helpful and friendly waitresess. Children had a something to play with and adult could enjoy meeting with no worry about the children. There is as well hired clown who make children busy every Sunday. Highly recommend the place!

Yummy food, great service and very friendly staff! Also a great spot to work/study with plenty of sockets!! I love studying from cafes and this place is one of the very few in north London I always come back to. Definitely worth visiting!

Waitress was rude. After 45 minutes The waitress told us that the boss told her to leave because we only ordered 2 coffers and 2 steel water. We didn't even finish our coffees. And the funny thing is the place was completely empty. Management need some lesson how to run a business.

This is my first ever review on google and im happily giving this place 5 stars, 10 if i could. From the first day i came to eat at this place i met alex, whom greeted me with a huge smile and explained the menu to me with a lot of patience and great detail and even offered me dessert and coffee on the house. Ive grown be a huge fan of this place, specially about their drinks and amazing service. Their hospitality is exceptional, like no other. Ive brought some of my friends over for some drinks and food and from the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by the each member of the staff through a handshake, which made my friends and i feel really welcomed This place has excellent steps of service and and amazing food. OMG so good. I came here for dinner last night, had possibly the best chicken wrap I’ve ever had on my life. It was so good I came back for a full English breakfast this morning, and that was just as good as dinner - if not better. Great coffee too and can’t recommend the freshly squeezed juice enough. Add to that great service and atmosphere. Will quickly become my regular.

I was with a friend this evening and waiter was so nice and friendly, the place is lovely and decorated nicely, clean and service is really good, properly chilled drinks and lemon and ice in glasses, I worked as a waiter myself and I must admit place is great

We went on a Saturday and it was such an amazing experience , they had 2 different dj s and they were amazing. The owner really took care of us and we felt super welcomed. I would surely recommend this place for a different night out in your neighborhood.

Nice shop, and very nice place for children to play! My children had a great time today! unlike for me who from one phase onwards just wanted to leave! And the reason was the owner of the shop! On moment came to the kids area and he found in a toy there was sugar! And he was looking at me with a very ugly style and he was showing me his hands! On the begging i don't understand something at that moment and I was just amazed by his attitude! Then he went to the warehouse and went through the kids area with the shoes a while ago he had told a dad to take off his shoes! And the truth is that the floor was quite dirty. When the owner told his employee to clean the place where the sugar was, the lady came to clean and after she just left it all soapy and I had to tell my friend to clean it because at that time I was with my 14 month old baby and I didn't want to put his hands on the specific toy and after on his mouth! I also asked my older son he or his friend they are make dirty the kitchen-toy with sugar he tell me they dont do nothing and one other girl who left before us who was there and had left earlier! They was a big group of friends before of us ! And the owner he still look at me stangelnly when the waitress came to our table to get the sugar and I told her I have the sugar under the table because I didn't want my little son to play with the sugar ! And while the problem was not there the owner kept looking at me strangely! It was the 3rd time I went today but I do not think to go again! Also my son remembered on other times it was a kids party and today he asked me to have his birthday party there! After today I am not going to visit it no to recommend it to anyone! 👎 And if you do not want to have children in your store do not make it kids friendly!

Place was nice, good prices. Play area was nice and children had lot of fun. What we didn’t like is the staff was continuously looking at the children to don’t make mess as they found open sugar on the kitchen toy, but that was already there when we arrived. Also the lady who came to clean the area left the kitchen toy full of soap and when we told her about it, she did cleaned but her face expressions was showing frustration and we didn’t like it at all, and I had to use my own wipes to clean the sink from the kitchen toy as she didn’t clean it properly and we didnt want the children to touch it. Play mat on the floor was so dirty my children socks arrived to be black!!! You should clean that floor if you want us to step without shoes in!!! One of the staff told to don’t step with shoes but I saw him with the shoes in the play area. They provide the play area and it’s lovely for parents but they should also expect that children are children. The place inside was empty we was only us in and they didn’t allow the children to play on the side table..

Shakshuka was good. My partner has celiac disease though, and when we explained this to the waitress taking the order we were told there was gluten free bread (we had initially said we could go without bread). It came out and looked exactly like the regular bread... we checked again with another waitress and she also assured us it would be gluten free. It definitely wasn't as he suffered a reaction soon after we left. Disappointing this wasn't taken seriously :/

Better then average breakfast. The Mediterranean was good, but the tomatoes and chilli omelette was disappointingly poor in that the tomatoes were not chosen for an omelette - unripe tomatoes aren't for omelettes!! It was also supposed to have an Indian twist to it, but non existent. The coffee was good and well rounded. If I could take half a star away for the cigarette smoke finding is way in from their "outdoor"seating area, I would.

Great place, great service, great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, all for pretty good prices, especially as it's a restaurant and bar combo, which is great for all audiences and occasions. By the way, the milkshakes' options are amazing.

Fabulous staff eg fabulous place!

The food is really good and it's almost cheap for the quality and quantity of the portions you get! The ambience is very pretty too, perfect to study or hang out for a catch up. Also, a little side note, but i loved every single song that was in the playlists!! Truly made my experience even better!! Whoever plays the music does a great job

Went today for the second time with a friend and our kids..amazing place, staff super friendly and amazing food!!even have an amazing tiny soft play for kids age 0 to 3 years.

Use to come here with my little ones to play in the play area. Recently come back post lockdown for coffee and light bite with kids. Lovely coffee. However it's changed considerably. The outside front area has smoking customers using it which means the cigarette smoke enters the main eating area and kids play area. Despite closing door, the smoke is still entering.Rather grim especially considering the cafe ought to be well ventilated and they have the kids area. Food still good.

First time I was yesterday! I had a great time. Very special service and staff 💪

ı am living around so when pass away the road they are busy and i said that myself let try. I ordered pan cake but i did not get it in 20 min. When i asked who took my order she said that it is on the way after this 5 min later i checked my order one more time but still same it is on the way. My next table which came after me they finished their food but i was still waiting anyway if u want to waste your time and money absolutely you can go there because of they are perfect to waste your time and money

Not bad! I had avo on toast. The dried parsley and chilli was a weird thing to put on it (expected fresh). Also I dont get why people spread the avocado on your toast for you. You end up with super soggy toast. Especially if you put the egg on too. It was a shame - couldn't eat most of the bread. Also my poached eggs were overdone. The turkish coffee wasn't what I'm used to... It was 2/3 coffee grains and served with a shot of cold water (instead of hot). The staff were quite nice but difficult to communicate with. It had a front room kind of vibe.
