Stopped off at the Hideout Cafe for a morning coffee. Really liked the look of the yurt. Very good choice of cake and snacks so opted for the marshmallow rocky road cake which was delicious. As it was a lovely day sat outside but it is also very nice in the yurt. Lovely to see a selection of toys for young children which my friend’s great grand daughter appreciated. Staff were also very friendly.

The awful experience here overshadowed any pleasure we might have enjoyed on our trip to Berkeley Castle. We were made to wait 45 minutes, outside in the cold, for baked potatoes. The manageress apologised for delays, but should have done much more. It was wrong to take our money at the outset without warning us that we would have to wait so long; the warning only came later when we expressed concern. She might have offered a free drink while we waited, or our money back. She argued that over a thousand people were visiting the castle that day. They certainly weren't all in the yurt; there were only 4 people ahead of us in the queue. If you cannot succeed in delivering a potato within a reasonable timeframe in an establishment claiming to serve food, there is something badly wrong. When they arrived, the baked potatoes were tolerable, but nothing more.

Found this wonderful cafe on our coach trip to Berkeley Castle. Lattes were superb, skinny decaf !! Sausage roll, warmed, big enough to share and delicious! After brilliant tour of castle went back for lunch, I had home cooked ham eggs and chips, my husband the castle burger. Freshly cooked and delicious. We then shared a slice of warmed hot cross bun, white chocolate bread and butter pudding, also home made. Best thing is you can visited without paying to go into castle!! So locals could use.

The restaurant offers well-prepared British food at reasonable prices. Service is swift and friendly. There is a good wine list with plenty of choice at the cheaper end. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for as well as those after a good meat meal. The chefs clearly take a pride in presentation and desserts are better than average. This restaurant is worth the journey into the hills on the outskirts of Gloucester.

Very nice pub, we randomly stopped here because it was on our way to a ghost hunt in the area, and we are so glad we stopped here, the pub was nice and clean, the mother daughter team that run it was really friendly, and the food was outstanding, very well presented, great prices and yummy! We are going back in December and I’m very much looking forward to it.

The building and setting at Leaf and Ground is beautiful. I’ve been here before but never eaten in the cafe so wasn’t sure what to expect. We pre-booked a table as we were meeting a friend with their family, making our group 9 people (4 adults and 5 kids). They did charge £5 per person as a deposit but we were glad we could book a guarantee a space for our party. Service was a little slow at points, drinks took awhile to arrive and had to grab someone’s attention to order food. However the food didn’t take too long - it was also delicious and very good quality. I had the chicken parm which was tasty, and my husband had ham, egg and chips, both were very decent sized portions. I would agree with other comments about the kids fries being salty, they were fine to my taste but the kids weren’t especially keen (they don’t normally have salt on their food) - so it might be worth taking that on board for future. We then enjoyed a walk around the grounds after lunch (the kids loved romping around the woodland area). We then had a stop at the kiosk for ice cream/milkshakes, followed by a trip to the kids play area. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny October afternoon and we will be back :)

We arrived in Stroud mid afternoon on a Saturday. The kids were starving and every other place we tried to get into was in the process of shutting. Despite Stroud being packed, Milano appeared to be the only place open that was still doing lunch or any type of food for that matter ! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and everything that we had to eat was tasty and really good value too. My youngest especially liked the Spag Bol and the proper milk shake made with ice cream. Don`t be put off by some of the reviews on here, it`s a nice place and really friendly. Just don`t go in expecting a restaurant, the clue is in the word cafe !
