Nice cafe with friendly attentive staff. Good freshly cooked food to order that is very reasonable priced.

I was unaware that this cafe had changed ownership . It used to be absolutely delicious but unfortunately, the standard has dropped dramatically since the changeover. The staff member was pleasant and helpful however the food was atrocious. All cheap food. Awfully tough sausage, overcooked fried egg that was hard yolk and broken with burnt edges. Cheap nasty beans and the toast had been pre buttered using nasty margarine. Was not even buttered to the edges. I thought toast was meant to be presented without being covered but given a butter square to add yourself? Anyway, don’t waste your money and find somewhere else to eat.

New owners………no longer dog friendly. The previous owners now run a cafe in Dover. Butty’s opposite are dog friendly……

I visited at last the hideaway this morning for a breakfast snack. I had eggs royale and a mug of tea. To say it was lovely is down playing it the eggs were perfectly poached and oozed yoke as soon as they were cut into. The salmon was so tasty and the dockers toast was the tastiest toast I have ever had. Even the standard mug of tea was lovely. I will definitely return thanks

This place was verbally recommended to us and we’re so pleased it was. A really lovely place with a good selection of breakfast dishes, attentive staff & a nice atmosphere. Really good value for money too. We will definitely be back!

This is a lovely local cafe with friendly staff and good service. It’s really nice that there are outside tables. Definitely to be recommended.

I was working in Folkestone for the day and stumbled on this little gem. I stopped for a quick lunch and I wasn’t disappointed. I opted for the Chicken Gyros, which came with chips and crumbled feta. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. Also, the staff were very friendly and attentive. I will be returning next time I am in the area.

I have walked past this place a few times and not stopped to look at the menu. Wow! Was I surprised!. There are lots of tasty items to choose from. I am healthy eating at the moment, so I decided to have poached eggs on granary bread (no butter). They were beautifully presented and delicious! The staff are really friendly and I felt welcome. I observed other customers commenting on how delicious their food was. I am so looking forward to my next visit.

So after trying to catch and go to the Hideaway with my friend for a very long time we finally went !! And We ordered 2 Greek platters and a chicken gyros !! Beautifully made tasty and a lovely menu. We had our friends sausage dog with us as they are dog friendly. We really enjoyed every bit of that food, great value for money too. The atmosphere in the lovely little cafe is so cosy and welcoming I can’t wait to go again. Such friendly staff welcomed in ordering was easy and service was superb. I deffo rate it 10/10 !!

Lovely little hidden gem . Lovely surroundings, peaceful atmosphere , friendly, helpful staff . Most importantly a fantastic menu that caters for vegetarians and vegans . My veggie breakfast was the best I’ve ever had 10/10 🥇 lovely selection and far surpassed what you would expect . Highly recommend a visit to here and we will certainly be back .

I went to try their Chicken Gyros, it was so flavoursome I went back the next day to try the pork ones. The Greek fries were lovely. It was filing without being too much. Great place, I’m so glad I finally got to try it even if it meant going solo

Just visited this wonderful place again the food here is delicious and they do an amazing fruit crumble and custard great value for money to and always get a warm welcome the staff are lovely really enjoy coming here strongly recommended it

Myself and my family visited The Hideaway today for a late breakfast, early lunch. I ordered the Hideaway benedict which was the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Crispy thick sliced bacon, soft poached eggs, great quality chipolatas, fresh spinach and really nice hollandaise sauce all served on top of a slice of sour dough docker, all of which was served beautiful cooked, piping hot and nicely presented. The rest of my party enjoyed their food as much as I did. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable. The Hideaway is highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

We stayed in Folkestone for 4 days but I was annoyed I only found this on the last day! I had a great veggie breakfast, the food was so tasty you could really notice the difference. The staff were nice and polite, I had the feeling it was family run so they probably actually care! Would go there every day if I could lol

One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I went for the Hideaway poached eggs and everything about it was superb. Great service and they also sell refillable dried foods so save on plastic waste. If you're ever in Folkestone it's well worth a visit.

Breakfast for 7 of us.....great varied menu.....tasty and well presented food. Friendly owners couldn't ask for more. Can't wait to try the lunch menu. We will be back. Thank you

This was our first venture out since April. Great menu, Lovely fresh produce , great friendly service. Tables on the pavement socially distanced. Delicious food , well presented. We shall return.

Cosy atmosphere getting more and more visitors. Great cooking. Whether lunch soup or all different types of cooked breakfast - loads of egg variations. Specialist coffee and teas, just not cake.

Small family run restaurant, wonderful service. We have been there for breakfast several times and it is the best cooked breakfast in Folkestone by far

I am glad this cafe is doing well and it’s because the food is really delicious, a wide choice, freshly prepared and cooked and the people are nice and friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. One thing I hope they can improve upon is the ventilation, when you leave your clothes smell of the cooked food unfortunately, as if you’ve been sitting in the kitchen where it’s prepared.

When overseas, experienced travellers will have a look around for a place where savvy locals go to enjoy good food and drinks amidst comfortable and laid back surroundings. The Hideaway is such a place in Folkestone. I have been going there for over six months and usually twice a week for the best breakfasts. Delicious coffee accompanied by tasty fresh food prepared by Matt and Leanne sets the tone of the day. It does not get better than this and the prices are extremely reasonable.

We frequently use the Hideaway for coffee, but on this occasion opted for breakfast too. My wife, a fussy egg eater, ordered scrambled egg (well beaten, no white bits!) with smoked salmon. A beautiful plate of perfect scrambled egg and delicate smoked salmon was produced, alongside my well cooked tasty half English. This is a lovely little cafe, with friendly attentive staff, a great place to relax with a decent, inexpensive coffee and an interesting choice of food. They deserve to do well!!

A group of us went for lunch, super service, wonderful quality and food freshly made to order. A good selection of light bites, coffee and cakes.

Lovely little place with art on the walls for sale. Interesting menu , something for everyone. Local produce including Dockers Bread and Lost Sheep coffee. Good quality ingredients well cooked and presented. Children's activity area, baby changing facilities plus high chair in attendance. Clean Loo! Excellent friendly service, we shall return.

lovely little eatery friendly couple who run it and nothing is to much trouble and big bonus our dogs are very welcome,food is fantastic breakfast menu is great and varied so if you just fancy something light, no problem or a full English nice,i like the scrambled egg with salmon,we have yet to try the lunches or the steak nights but we will do in the near future.

Just in town for couple of days and found this lovely place! Ordered locally made sourdough bread with jam and it was gorgeous. I only noticed all the lovely breakfasts I could have had too late! I was made to feel welcome and chatted with owners. They cater for veggies and vegans. I will definitely return when visiting Folkestone again. Take my advice and give it a try! They are relatively new and not well known enough! They will be soon.

Family lunch out with a 2 year old. There were plenty of toys and activities available to keep the toddler amused. The meal was freshly prepared and was delicious. One slight negative is that sandwiches were served on wooden boards (hot food was on plates). Call me old-fashioned but I much prefer a plate as food is less likely to fall off it. The toilet is disabled accessible though someone who has to transfer directly from a wheelchair would have to ask the staff to move the baby changing table to create more space. The food was lovely so we would definitely go there again.

I have been here a few times with my partner and our 2 year old daughter. The food is always delicious and the service very friendly. I visited on my own today and enjoyed a delicious sandwich with fresh, local bread and the nicest chips I’ve had in a while. A lovely relaxed place to go with a nice little area for toddlers/ young children to play with play doh, colouring in, etc.

My partner and I have recently started visiting the Hideaway on weekends and it is always such a fantastic experience - the food is delicious (and very reasonably priced), the environment is lovely and the staff are welcoming, friendly and very helpful. They even went out of their way to help reunite me with an item I had accidentally left behind. 5 stars!

My friend and I decided on a brunch here as he visits here regularly and suggested it to me. We both had an eggs royale on sourdough bread which was delicious! Service was quick and friendly, relaxed atmosphere and reasonable cost. Will come back again.

Another very good addition to the area. Quality ingredients are used and the food is delicious, lovely place for breakfast or lunch (not sure if they do dinner), with a relaxing atmosphere. I am sure this place will do well (I think it is already popular) after the last 2 restaurants on this site didn’t. They’ve got it right all round for this type of place I think and it feels kind of organic if you know what I mean and I look forward to returning soon; keep up the quality and high standards.

Never get let down here, the food is good, as is the service, staff are very friendly.... Feel very chilled dining here, and all at a fare price..

There is a great atmosphere, a good variety of foods, lots of dietary options, for a good price. Staff is nice and welcoming.

I went to this fairly new(6mths) old restaurant with my son's fiance. We were not really sure what to expect as from the outside it could be a cafe,bistro or as it turned out a bijou restaurant. We had two sharing boards an antipasti and a meze both were very generously presented and extremely tasty. With a medium glass of wine each and coffees the bill for two came to under £30.00. We will be going back very soon,they also have music nights and comedy so the very personable owner told us.

There’s a bit of competition growing in this street, just on the fringes of Folkestone’s shopping centre (off the west end of Sandgate Road).

We happened on this place by accident. We were looking for breakfast. This place was clean and friendly. The food was lovely and reasonably priced.

It is so nice to have somewhere local that is a pleasure to go to whether it's for a coffee or breakfast or lunch, the Greek & Italian platters are excellent..

I often come to this place, vibrant at times, friendly staff the food is absolutely amazing. The cd rack and chalk board is so interesting with a timer. Wonder in if you pass by no disappointments here. Regular coffee meets or social gatherings this is the place.

Lovely restaurant with free WiFi that you didn’t have to give your details to join! I had the Gyros & my husband had the salt beef both were lovely. Great value for money & we will be back soon! Also very welcoming hosts

Hubby and I stumbled across the lovely new Hideaway when we were hungry for a good coffee and breakfast.

Lovely place to meet for lunch, good selection, we had the mezze platter which was lovely. Very friendly owner too

I needed somewhere to work from for the day and The Hideaway was perfect. The free WiFi was excellent, and I enjoyed their great selection of cold drinks.

Best 'Eggs Benedict' I've had for a long while. Good Coffee too. Very pleasant staff made me feel welcome. I shall recommend this to my friends. The Hideaway deserves to do well.

Always willing to give this place my time and money as it never fails to deliver. Great brekkie and they even went the extra mile to accommodate my dad's tastes... Great people to make your stay more enjoyable.
