We ate in the upstairs section called 'The Grill'. Lovely ambiance, reasonable service. Very limited menu, Our table was booked for 4.30, by which time they'd already sold out of 3 of their main courses, & 1 dessert. They don't serve sparkling water, and when asked whether it as possible to somehow purchase some draft beer from the bar downstairs, they were reluctant, bordering on rude. The Crab starter was way too huge for 1 person, but the leek pie was more like a small cupcake. The lamb with mint actually had no mint at all. The side orders were very limited too. This restaurant was overpriced, and a dissatpointment.

Great atmosphere, great menu - plenty of choices and the food was very good. Good wine list. Service was slow - the waitress was a tad too relaxed!

My 5th visit to the ground floor pub since July 2023. The first 3 visits I would rate as ‘good’, and with high expectation, my most recent visit on Sunday November 3, was disappointing. The onion soup with spenwood cheese was tasty, however the lamb ribs (a starter) the meat was tough and tasteless. I returned the latter dish and ordered a fish cake and side of cavolo Nero. With hindsight, the fish cake was dry and with too much potato, whilst the green veg was cold & dripping in butter / oil. Previously I really enjoyed the cod cheeks, the scotch egg and the chicken pie was ok. The Hero has great intentions, but standards are slipping.

Feels like a pub, but food is way over 'pub grub'. Never met such a helpful and knowledgeable waitress in my life (I am 68!). she described our wonderful soup in detail, and also the main (I had fish with a side order of salad) and for the first time in a zillion years I couldn't resist a pub. We had a choice of proper pub beer

The hero pub is the best pub I’ve had the pleasure of visiting and eating in with a cosy welcoming atmosphere. Special thanks the chef’s Ed, Jordan and team as food was cooked to perfection. Would also like to thank our waitress Muna & general manager Linga for their amazing hospitality and customer service. The whole team at the hero are amazing and can’t fault them at all! Highly recommend & will be back soon.

This is a great spot. The downstairs pub is brilliant value. The steak and chips is excellent, in particular, while the selection of snack starters are great (mackerel pate and lamb ribs, especially). The upstairs grill room is very nice, but much more expensive and food-wise doesn't seem to be worth the difference; it comes from the same kitchen as far as I can tell. Also, the asparagus pie served in the grill room was borderline insultingly small. It would be 5*s for the pub and for the food served there, and more like 3*s for the grill room.

Nipped out for lunch whilst watching the cricket at Lords. Very much like the unpainted plaster and bare wood aesthetic. Service attentive, food and wine very good, fair value for money. Would definitely go again.

We had a lovely banquette for six people . Food was very good - the highlights being the duck pie ( like shepherds pie ) and the trout with horseradish starter . Our friends also enjoyed their pork cutlet with mustard . Our John Dory was good but after they had filleted it was not as warm as we would have liked . Very warm service . Great ambience .

DELIGHTFUL. I'd been to The Bull, Charlbury so I knew the food quality would be high. It was quiet for a lunchtime but that didn't have any negative affect on the ambience. Of course - we had Pies !!! Fantastically Wonderful. Super fresh vegetables cooked to perfection, paired with a rather delicious Provence Rosè. If you plan to go - choose Table 15. We'll be back !!

This review is purely on a drinking basis, not for food. We thought after looking at the beautiful images we would go for an early evening drink before dinner nearby. Big mistake. It was absolutely packed and standing room out in the street only. We got a pint and a glass of fizz and were bemused at a £27 bill. I know fizz isn’t a standard pub drink but it’s not that uncommon. Almost £30 for a round in a pub. There was a herder employed to make sure people kept within a small area outside and after being herded inwards a couple of times abandoned the drinks and moved on elsewhere. Would return to try the grill upstairs when opens but not for an expensive and uncomfortable drink.

This was an awful lunch . We had three fish pies which were dry and the toppings burnt . Had to wait a good hour between starters and main course . The spare ribs starter was very fatty . Not a great experience.

We actually visited this pub twice while staying in the area. The food was good on both occasions and the staff was very welcoming . The manager took the time to come over and have a nice conversation with us and the locals we met while there were also very friendly.

This used to be one of my favourite local spots! I used to boast about the roast and food to my friends and pop in for a pint on my way home. Unfortunately they seemed to have changed management or something post covid and the service has been horrible. I’ve tried it now three more times hoping it was just a fluke but it doesn’t seem to be. Unfortunately, now won’t be heading here anymore which is a real shame as live right around the corner. The staff have been rude, inattentive and made some big mistakes. For example, I ordered an oat milk cap and then was served a one with regular milk. they then came back and said they don’t actually have oat milk. They still had it on the bill! There was glass from a chipped glass in my friends beer. They didn’t comp him another one. I asked three times for more horseradish and it didn’t come. I ordered the beef medium rare and it came out medium I fear the waiter wasn’t listening. When I’ve called to make reservations they are a usually rude and not accommodating on the phone. Other people in the neighbourhood have said similar things about the service so it is a shame. There are other great pubs in Little Venice so I will be taking my business there until they fix their service problem.

Came here with a friend for a couple of drinks a few nights ago. Lovely atmosphere and staff very friendly. We didn't eat but some people were and food looked good. However the drinks we had were very expensive, even by London prices! £18.00for a medium glass of Rioja and a pint of beer.

We booked here on the basis of its definition as a pub/hotel. We expected hotel services at the price we paid. There was no breakfast served, only the evening meal which we did not try. We cannot rate the quality of the food. There was no lift to the fifth floor where our room was situated. It had a broken blind and we were moved to another. No milk was provided for tea/coffee and there was no shower mat in the bathroom. Customer contact was non-existent and we had to use a side door with a key code. Our room had a broken window blind with no milk for tea, coffee provided, no shower mat, poor heating controls. Investment had been made in things which did not improve guest experience.

Very friendly environment, we stayed at the hotel last Saturday and felt very welcome and embraced by the staff. The rooms are good size and very clean. The neighborhood is great, you can feel the how it is to live in London, very close to the underground and in front of a bus station that takes you to Piccadilly Circus. The happy hour at the hotel was also great. Fair price, good food, good beer. I recommend the visit and the stay and for the next trip to London, we already know where to stay :) Thank you team!

My best friend and I wanted to stay in London for a couple of nights whilst watching dua lipa in concert, we decided to stay somewhere that has more character than a premier inn with a boutique feel. Maida Vale Station is situated just 1 stop from Paddington tube station with a 5-minute scenic walk - we even made friends with a local cat who joined us a couple of times. The Hero of Maida is surrounded by the most beautiful houses I have ever seen! - cute and quaint, and gave me a lot of inspiration for my home reno... The restaurant itself has a luxury gastro pub feel with dark decor and unique pieces of art, images and lights to compliment the space. The food was excellent and the only regret was not staying Sunday for the famous roast dinner! - we will definitely be returning for this. We both shared a room and stayed on the top floor where we closed our apple watch rings daily ;) hurray, - there are a couple of flights of stairs where you bypass even more beautiful, more formal restaurants for again, another luxury dining experience. I believe you can rent a room for special occasions like a private birthday meal! The room itself was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated - it even had a window with a view which in London is rare to find! The staff were polite and friendly, helping us with luggage and fetching an iron when our clothes needed a steam! In the mornings we crossed over the road perhaps just only 7 steps and entered a greek owned cafe that served the most amazing breakfast, with an array of freshly baked pastries and they even made a perfect coffee! All in all, it was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! I will definitely return!

I used to love this place, but haven't been for nearly 10 years. I'm glad to see it hasn't changed too much, but with the downside that it is now apparently owned by BrewDog. Luckily, it appears they let them continue without having to follow the "taproom by numbers" you get out of most BrewDog bars, so not only does it have it's own look, but there is a much more interesting selection of beers. It was easy enough to get a seat on a Saturday afternoon, which is always a bonus in a decent location like this.

Fui a desayunar. Mucho a mucho. Este lugar no es para mi. Buen café sin embargo.
