Lovely late lunch at the Herbarium squeezed in around meetings. Delicious longevity bowl and berry tea, lovely place to do some work, and staff were thoughtful and attentive.

It’s my fave go to place for healthy and delicious food. If I have a group who have mixed dietary needs it’s a perfect spot for everyone. I love the spicy buffalo wings and the breakfasts are fab!

I often eat at the Herbarium. I love the smoothie bowls and Buddha bowls in summer, the French toast and Herby Mushrooms when it’s cooler. Lavender Grey tea or the hot chocolate with coconut milk and cream to drink.

i looooove this place! it's like walking into a warm hug. the atmosphere is amazing and so relaxing with its rustic features and plants in every room! the staff are always there to welcome you with a smile even when they're rushed off their feet and i don't think you'll even think about the food being vegan if it's not your dietary preference because it's so delicious and beautifully presented <3 10/10 would recommend

My go-to in Lancaster. Food is great, and I love the new monthly specials menus. I often bring my laptop here on weekdays and work/people watch/drink hot chocolate. Super friendly and just a nice chilled vibe.

I had 2 evening meals catered at a retreat I was running. Lucy worked with me to create a menu that accommodated some very specific and challenging dietary restrictions. They brought the food, set the dining area out beautifully for us, served, cleared...(Thank you, Faye) which left me and my guests to relax and enjoy some delicious food which was tasty and plentiful. My retreat guests all gave good feedback, and I will certainly come to the herbarium again if I run another retreat.

I have been to The Herbarium for meals, hot chocolate and cakes almost weekly over the past 12 months and I feel so blessed to have such a welcoming and delightful place to meet up with friends and enjoy delicious food. There are books , plants, games and truly dedicated staff.

Absolutely love this place. My favourite place to eat in the North west. Firstly the staff and owner are so lovely, you are welcomed like bear friends. Next the food is incredible. So many ingredients are locally produced, all the ingredients are bought with thought of the planet. The food is plant based yet so many of my Omnivore and Vegetarian friends go as well as Vegan. No booking needed and 3 rooms, all so different, with different types of chairs and tables for all. I also started going to a wonderful monthly book club here and now have over 25 lovely friends I go on so many outings with. Great location, there's street parking behind and to the side on Dalton Square Also all day parking at St Nicholas car park opposite. After lunch at The Herbarium it's lovely to go for a stroll on Dalton Square with all the spring flowers and benches. If you fancy a lunch, an evening meal with friends or a solo coffee and cake with a book it is definitely the place to be.

I’ve been coming to the Herbarium ever since it opened and have always had exceptional food and brilliant service. Highlights have been a Mother’s Day afternoon tea, and this year we held our work Christmas meal here - I can’t recommend it enough. Dog friendly!

Love this spot! Been here many times but went most recently last weekend. Lots of delicious food, and friendly, personable staff. I particularly like the pea smash on toast. I feel a lot of creativity goes into the menu and they have specials which they change up. Last week there was a speciality pancake menu on all week as well for pancake day! Great addition to Lancaster, will no doubt be coming again.

The Herb always has great food and drink and friendly service. It's a regular go to for vegan foods. The Buddha bowl is one of my partners favourites and I'm a big fan of the bagels. Well worth a visit.

My absolute favourite cafe in Lancaster. I love the relaxed, informal vibe and the welcoming atmosphere. There are board games and kids’ toys, a variety of seating/table types, and even though it gets busy at times there’s usually somewhere to sit. The drinks and food are great - and it’s so wonderful to be in a fully vegan space and be able to order anything.

I have long been a fab of the Herb but I had the most delicious breakfast with a friend last week so thought I should leave a review. The menu is great- lots of options and I’ve enjoyed trying new things as I’m not vegan. Service always very good and it’s such a nice place for a coffee and chat with a friend. Thanks Herbarium!

I have come to the Herbarium a few times. Once with a group of a few of us and twice by myself. It's the only place I am happy to go by myself for a coffee and cake and feel comfortable. Staff have been so lovely and welcoming and cakes and drinks excellent.

The Herbarium is such an important part of the Lancaster food scene, and not just for vegans. The food is always incredible, whether breakfast, lunch or evening meal, with innovative dishes and good portions. The atmosphere is wonderful too, with lots of varies seating areas to choose from. It's our go to place for both an everyday and a special occasion.

I done at the herbarium regularly and have always had a great experience. The staff are attentive and friendly. Always greeted with a smile and hello. The staff work hard to ensure everyone has a great experience and the food is always spot on. Fantastic place to have for breakfast lunch or dinner or for popping in for a coffee and cake.

The most gorgeous cafe in the heart of Lancaster. Yummy vegan food, loads of options, great coffee. Pic attached is of the harissa aubergine special, which was gorgeous, and the berry waffles off the evening menu. Highly recommend!

I love visiting the herb. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Even when it’s busier they are always apologetic for any additional wait and I always manage to get a table without a booking, they are so accommodating. I recently booked the dining room for a Pilates class on a Sunday morning and then we all stayed for brunch afterwards. The food was fantastic and made with care and considering when we ordered (10 of us in total) they had almost every table full in the main cafe, they offered to give us a table back in the dining room which we were more than happy to wait for them to set up for use and simply used the time to decide what to order and the wait for food was more than reasonable given how busy they were. Happy to keep supporting this gorgeous business!

I love coming to the herb, I have to say that I go out to a lot of restaurants and cafes and I find the staff that work here just so friendly and accommodating, always a pleasure and the coconut chai is a firm favourite

Visited recently with 2 friends. Absolutely delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. One of my favourite places to eat locally.

Good food. Appalling service. We were asked to pay for our food when we ordered it, as they had had issues with customers leaving without paying. I am not surprised as service was so lacking.

I’ve had the pleasure of eating at the Herbarium a few times and every time the staff show impeccable service and warmth! Even my non-vegan/vegetarian friends can’t get enough of the Herbs scrumptious and unique dishes. It‘s homely atmosphere makes you feel snug as a bug, with a „snug“ area available for a more intimations cozy setting

Fellow vegan that lives in Lancaster, so I have been here a lot, for both their lunch and dinner time menus. Food is of a good vegan standard, with quality ingredients, however the staff are never very friendly. They have missed full meals from our order with no apologies and the wait times can be long. My latest issues with the place, which has concluded my rating was, I was trying to book the afternoon tea for mothers day, with absolutely no response and I went for lunch there today and half way through my food got told to move to another table, because they needed the table I was on (eventhough not reserved. ) The waitress was very stern and I felt I could not say no. I was in the middle of writing and I got moved to a very loud area with a wobbly table. As a member of the public that comes multiple times a week, it's really not nice to be treated like this, in a cold manner, especially half way through your meal. I think if the staff were friendlier and it had better service overall, I think this place could be great! Response: I think it is a matter of perspective if I was kindly asked, and I do not feel that I was. I was in shock to be asked half way through my meal to move seats. Maybe have a sign up to say to customers, don't sit at tables that are too big for them? I sit at that exact table every week, and have never been asked to move. I agree fairness is important, and this was not it, and your stern reply shows as much. I have spoken to my mum and she has not received any email regarding mother's day. I will leave it in her court what she would like to, as its mother's day.

Well I must say, I have been extremely disappointed the last two times I have been here. The service was very slow and we waited a long time just to receive our coffees, whilst we watched staff chatting and pottering about behind the counter. We did keep giving them eye contact but this didn't seem to register. The main meal which took approximately 50 mins to arrive was delicious but the dessert I ordered did not match the description off the menu. I did explain this to the staff and they said it did match. So I showed them the description on my phone and I was then offered a reluctant refund but not an apology. I was also very disappointed to hear of my daughters experience in your cafe yesterday. To be asked to move from your table whilst you're in the middle of your meal, is just terrible service and this is NOT a matter of perspective. She could've kindly been asked to move after her meal if she wanted to and I can assure you that I would not have moved, so it's a good job you didn't ask me. If you don't want single people sitting at particular tables then you should put a sign up and make this quite clear. Regardless of you being a small independent business, manners cost nothing and your staff need to be taught some manners along with yourself. Never when I have complained in other eating establshments have I been told that it's just my perspective, they have tried to rectify the situation, apologise and encourage me to return. You have done none of this, just offer the money back and goodbye. What an unprofessional way of dealing with customers. Also to set the record straight, I did NOT receive an email confirmation of a booking or a time for Mother's Day, just an email regarding the deposit. As I explained on the phone to you this morning when you just offered me the deposit back. It's such a shame as I used to really enjoy coming to The Herbarium but I will not be returning unless this feedback is acknowledged and a genuine apology is issued.

The best vegan food I have ever had. Imaginatively prepared and seasoned dishes served with passion and a love of plant based cuisine. Prices were more than reasonable and service was spot on. I will be back for more, for sure!

We visited Lake district n were coming back towards home . I was just searching out any vegan retraunt n found out The Harbarium. We just loved the food it was fantastic. Specially the Fried rice🫶🏻🫶🏻

Gran comida de hoy, tenía la "carne" - menos sub bola de su menú de ofertas, no podía creer lo buenos que eran! Intentaré más allá de la carne otra vez. Terminado con una rubia de cacahuete también deliciosa y definitivamente casera. Es comida recién cocinada y aunque no soy vegana fue el mejor almuerzo que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Lo recomendaría mucho 👌

¡Qué gran lugar! El Herbario tiene un ambiente acogedor y peculiar y un menú lleno de deliciosas opciones basadas en plantas. Es tan agradable poder elegir algo de un menú en una noche, que NUNCA sucede. El personal era amable y atento, a pesar de que estaban increíblemente ocupados y tratando con unas pocas mesas difíciles me sentí mal por ellos en realidad, y todo estaba muy bien presentado. ¡No puedo esperar a volver!

My favourite cafe for an Oat Cappuccino and a Mushroom Melt. Lovely staff.

Wow. Terrible service. Booked a table online but they seemed not to know we were coming. 3 of us but shown to a table with 2 chairs and left to find the third for ourselves. Expensive 'mocktail' spilt but no offer of a replacement. Food order lost, starter finally arrived 1 hour 30 mins after time of table booking. Then left staring at empty plates while staff dusted bottles on the top shelf and cleared empty tables elsewhere. Decided to cut our losses and leave, hungry, instead of waiting an age for main courses to arrive. Terrible evening. Real shame. I really can't suggest its worth going.

Nice food service a bit slow and missed off our chips

Nice place, quirky with some interesting Georgian features. Good to be able to choose absolutely anything from the menu for a change. Enjoyed our meal.

Half our party were non- vegans and we all really enjoyed the flavoursome, tasty food. Highly recommended.

A beautiful place to eat healthily, just a minute's walk from the centre of town. Super tasty food, many veggie and gluten free options. And friendly helpful service too. Watch the world go by through the window as you devour your plate filled with healthy food!

Cozy place with nice music and tasty food

I've eaten at The Herbarium lots of times now and every meal I've had has been delicious. I love their matcha tea too. I'm not fully vegan, but try to eat a plant-based diet 4-5 days a week, and you certainly don't feel you're sacrificing anything in terms of taste, variety or quality at The Herb. A calming atmosphere and lovely staff too. Well done to the whole team (including the Chefs who probably don't get a shout out often enough) 👏

It’s such a pleasure to come to a cosy, bustling vegan eatery with so many choices, lovely staff and a great atmosphere! There are two menus - one for brunch up until 3pm and then another for dinner after this..both excellent and having sampled a number of items on the menu, I can you that you won’t be disappointed! We had the garlic soup, French roast and the club sandwich on our last visit - all delicious! Also, the drinks are wide ranging - Ameretto and hot chocolate - fab’ thanks for a brilliant visit every time guys!

Tuve el placer de venir al herbario, poniéndome al día con un amigo que recientemente me habían propuesto. Para complementar esta maravillosa celebración tuvimos un encantador almuerzo en el herbario. El tiempo de servicio fue rápido y el cuenco de Buda era simplemente delicioso. El punto culminante conjunto de mi amiga y yo de nuestro tiempo en el herbario fue el encantador servicio recibido por un miembro del personal llamado Yumi (no estoy muy seguro de cómo deletrear el nombre) , su maravilloso servicio demuestra ser un activo para el herbario , con su positividad y carisma que trae alegría tanto a mi amiga como a mí día . Nos aseguraremos de volver a visitar el herbario en el futuro, y esperamos ser recibidos con empleados amigables allí. Gracias Yumi por hacer nuestros días y viaje al herbario!

Excellent cafe with a very extensive menu. Food was well prepared and tasty, although the portions were perhaps a little on the small side for my tastes.

The Herbarium is always a good choice for vegetarian and vegan food in lancaster. It is expensive but you are getting quality, so it is nice every now and then for a treat so don't let the price put you off!!!

Lovely place for a breakfast or lunch, should recommend the pancakes and the beetroot latte. There's seating at the side and back, which isn't clear at first.

Beautiful selection of plant based food and treats. Coffee was superb too. We were visiting family in Lancaster and I'm already thinking about next time we're back, getting out to Herbarium again! Great selection of toys and games to keep wee ones amused too!

I had a salad bowl - can't remember the name but it was fresh and full of different flavours and textures. Absolutely delicious! Then a coffee and filled pain au chocolate afterwards, which were also tasty. There is a selection of board games too. I wish I lived nearer Lancaster because I'd be visiting The Herbarium as often as possible if I did!

Saw The Herbarium was hosting a vegan Italian afternoon tea so decided to book a table.. We sat in a room next to the cafe with tables set with Italian flags, printed menu and music. Lucie looked after us and was so lovely and explained about the menu. We loved the food, made on site and absolutely gorgeous and lots of it so we had a take out box with two of the cakes which we just could not eat. It was good value at £22.50 including a glass of Prosecco and for £3 extra you could have an Aperol Spritz. Lucie said they were looking at hosting other themed evenings which we would be very interested in.. We loved it.

This is hands down my favourite place to eat out. The food is THE BEST and the staff are lovely. It has such a chilled vibe.

I've always found vegan food a bit hit and miss, but this little gem is a definite hit! I've had a few meals which easily compare with the meat alternative, and some meals which are more unique but equally as delicious. There is an excellent range of drinks, including tea, and the cakes are a real treat.

Went for a birthday dinner at The Herbarium, the food was absolutely delicious and an absolute luxury going to a vegan restaurant where you know you can order anything, there are options galore. Three courses were definitely indulged in and every course was lovely. The service was okay, the staff were friendly but very relaxed with service and forgot our drinks for quite some time - the atmosphere was very relaxed despite it being a Saturday evening so definitely not a dressy affair of a restaurant which many people love! We would look to return for the food definitely and would recommend to others to try proper vegan food rather than your standard 'moving mountains burger' that we always get offered on menus :)

Even though I am not vegan, my friend (vegan) and I really enjoy this place. The brunch menu is fantastic and has lots of different options. The photo shows the Italian eggs - absolutely amazing and delicious, just needed a bit more bread !!, and the açai bowl was fabulous, delicious, and refreshing. I did find some of the fruit hadn’t fully been blended but otherwise amazing. We always enjoy our food here, the staff are warm and welcoming. The “vibe” of the place is really fun and relaxing, with shelves of games and trivia you can play or books to read. It really is a lovely place

First time visited today and rather disappointed. Extremely slow service waiting close to an hour for two simple dishes which were barely average. Was expecting much more,portion size of granola bowl fit for a small child certainly not worth the price. Beautiful place but miserable slow staff and last visit for us I'm afraid.

Great place for things herbal, vegetarian and vegan. Nice vibe to meet and discuss about work as well. My go-to drinks are Mermaid Matcha and Strawberry Cream Matcha.

A lovely atmosphere and an even better food selection. Upon first glance you wouldn't realise it but the entire menu is a vegan delight! We sat and relaxed, played chess from their board game collection had two drinks, two meals and two cakes. Food was reasonably priced for what you get and certainly delicious! Would go again.

Gluten Free options galore…. Never did I think I would eat at a vegan cafe and enjoy it… a vegan friend came to town and we decided lunch here would be a good idea. I check regards allergies (gluten free) and it was a go…. I was expecting little flavour and limited choice. I had a Mexican salad bowl… I was the tastiest lunch I have had in years! This place will be my top choice for lunch regardless of whether we need vegan choices or not!

Quite possibly my favourite place to eat! I ALWAYS meet my clients here because I know the coffee is wonderful, the atmosphere is perfect and the food is delicious. It’s always quick service and the staff are welcoming, attentive and friendly. I’ve definitely worked my way through the menu in the times I’ve been here and there is so much choice I often can’t decide. If you’re looking for a cosy welcoming atmosphere and a place to work or meet friends and have food or coffee this really is the place for you!

Have been here before for dinner and the food is really good, the vibe is great and based off of that experience I would recommend this place to anyone even non-vegans like myself. However, me and a female friend went in today and noticed that one server was treating our orders differently depending on who ordered them, and when bringing orders to the table this server had a particularly negative attitude when compared to other people she was serving. The first drinks that my friend ordered came with nice coffee art on her matcha, when I ordered the same for her the drinks came out quite messy (I am no barista but it was obvious), even going up to order I felt I had done something to deserve this treatment but cannot think what it could've been, seeing as both me and my friend came in to do some revision, both of us as polite as we could be and I'd like to think we weren't disturbing anyone. This service made us feel pretty uneasy so we left earlier than planned. This is not something I ever do, let alone going out of my way to leave a negative review after the fact. If she didn't like me for whatever reason (my appearance or if I offended in some way) I wish she could've at least stayed professional or had told me what I might've done wrong. Not a nice feeling to feel unwelcome in a place that I used to really enjoy.

Waited 1hr 10minutes for food, had to ask x4 times for our drinks and food. Told false information, In the end we left. Not a nice night for us. Really sad as we really liked the place.
