If you love pizza and haven't yet experienced Hayman's Kitchen you're missing a trick: it's the smallest restaurant imaginable yet out of the kitchen emerges pure culinary magic. The garlic bread is a thing of wonder, while each pizza flavour combines traditional elements with a twist and they are as good as their evocative names suggest, from the Salty Sea Dog to the Old Blue Goat. And everyone's made very welcome, whether they're visiting for the first time or regulars.

Although we’ve lived down the road for a few months now we made our first visit to this gorgeous place tonight. The pizzas are amazing, in fact the crusts are the best I’ve ever tasted. Husband had Mighty Meatball and I had Pear, Bacon and Pinenut, both were huge and absolutely gorgeous. However, the best was yet to come - for goodness sake make space for the tiramisu, it is to die for! The service is also exceptional, and very friendly. I left half my pizza (to fit in the tiramisu) and was kindly given it to take away in a doggy box. Cannot recommend enough.

We have ordered takeaway pizza a few time (during Covid lockdown) and it is excellent. In fact I’d say it is the best I’ve had outside Italy - and that’s saying something as it’s not easy to keep takeaway pizza in perfect condition. We’ve not eaten inside (closed due to Covid restrictions) but it looks inviting. We plan to try inside very soon.

I would describe this restaurant as quirky - and I mean that in a good way! Very small - only about 5 tables - which we liked as felt cosy and intimate. The garlic bread with caramelised onions was delicious and so were the pizzas and lovely and thin. Didn't think we could manage dessert but ordered tiramisu and so glad we did - it was light as a feather. Just a tip if you like wine or beer with your pizza - they are not licensed and you can take your own alcohol and they will charge you corkage. Didn't realise this before we went - sure it's not on the website or if it is neither of us noticed - my husband went to the local pub and bought a bottle of wine, but would have been much cheaper if we'd have known beforehand and bought one at the supermarket. Staff really friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed it,

Five of us went last night and had a truly welcoming experience....we took our own wine as it is not licenced and sampled a portion of the most delicious balsamic olives while our pizzas were being cooked. The pizzas take a little while to arrive as they are all made from scratch, but that didn't really matter as conversation and wine flowed and when we did get them they were wafer thin, totally covered with topping and absolutely delicious.....not a scrap was left by anyone. Our host was so welcoming and it was like sitting in your own cosy dining room with interesting nicknacks and twinkling fairy lights all around the room.....i can't wait to go back...

This restaurant feels more like someone’s front room than a restaurant and it has a very friendly feel to it. The pizzas are made with a thin crust and are tasty and well above average. There are not many seats and many people take away pizza and there is also a deal with the local micro pub, the Freed Man which allows you to eat your take out in there. The food takes about an hour to produce so plan that in: if you go with expectation of this time you can either have a leisurely meal, or come back to collect when it is done.

Great pizza (restaurant is being a bottle, so we ensured good wine too!), and a really friendly, informal vibe. Had great conversations with couples at two different tables (all locals - always a good 'indicator') and got some great 'things to do' suggestions (and the number of a local cab firm when our 'Threenager' fell into a food coma!)

It's Sunday night and my mom was very miserable in a completely strange environment. My mom accidentally took the wrong bus from Canterbury to Walmer and end up got help from the hostress.

A small restaurant that serves Pizza in the evenings at Weekends. Eat in, Take Away or take across the road to the Freed Man micro pub. No alcohol, but you can take your own. They also welcome dogs. Food was excellent with interesting pizza toppings and a warning on the chilli! Although not as hot as promised. But I like the chilli. Excellent and well worth the visit.

If you want proper pizza go here. This is a lovely small restaurant with lovely staff. Order pizza, go over the road to the Freed Man micro pub for a beer or wine and then return for your delicious pizza. Best opening for a long time.

Finally got to have breakfast having so many good things about it - breakfast was so good we went back that evening for pizzas. Undoubtedly the best pizza I've had in the UK and for me it worked on three levels - the aroma as I drove home was magnificent, the delight when I opened the box was no anti-climax and guess what - the taste when I finally sat down to enjoy eclipsed everything. My Partner, who isn't a pizza lover, actually loved hers - maybe because it wasn't what normally passes for pizza. My title said it all - brilliant!

Delightful, family run cafe which is a useful complement to the micropub (The Freed Man) across the road. Went for the pizzas in the evening which are available three or four evenings a week. Very modest corkage charge. Splendid pizzas followed by very good ice-cream. Haven't yet visited during the day, but I shall. Probably the snuggest, cosiest place I have ever eaten in.

Obviously not the place to go if you are in a hurry, McD serve you well if that's the case and the tea is meant to be OK. However if you want proper food cooked with passion this is 5* joint and highly recommended.

The only problem is the parking, right by a bus stop on a main road, but as I.m disabled and have a blue badge I can always park nearly opposite. Less of that and more about the food. I went with a friend of mine one lunch time and both had amazing pizza,s, ultra thin and crispy and what ever toppings that she had we could have, so we for mushrooms, chorizo and garlic butter.really delicious and much to my surprise very filling, one of the best pizzas I'd ever had, so different from the usually bland offerings one gets.it's a delightful place, very small and cosy, and the lady who cooks and serves is delightful. I haven't been since then because of the dreaded hay fever, but once it's over I hope to be a regular.A great asset to Upper Walmer village.

Lovely quaint little café selling the best pizzas. Micky is extremely nice and she makes them from scratch, but you must be prepared to wait. I think they're worth waiting for. Haven't tried breakfast yet but I'm sure it will be tasty😊

In a world where promises are made and disappointment is frequent, how nice it is to go to a place which just does what it does. And well.

So excited to have found you. Most yummy take away pizza's we've ever had. We'll be regulars. Goats cheese, sweet pepper and chorizo pizza and an anchovy and olive pizza. A little wait but so worth it. Glad you have opened as the take away pizza places in deal are all commercial the ingredients or choices are limited. You have delicious choices and can't wait to get another. I really mean that. Mmmmm yum thank you.

Wow, this is the sort of place Rick Stein would rave about on one of he's programs. The food is all home made and superb, it's a lovely quaint intimate place. We have eaten he on several occasions and never been disappointed. The owner and staff and so helpful and friendly.

This is a charming cottage tea rooms with delicious food and friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed the all day breakfast and a huge and tasty omelette. It's not fast food, but definitely worth waiting for - and such naturally-friendly charming staff that it's like popping round to a friend's place for a lazy Sunday brunch. Can't believe we've driven past it for the last few months - we will certainly be back and can't wait to try out the Friday night pizza.

We were there today and really loved the delicious food and the great service!!! Everything was homemade even the vegetarian sausages and the sauce. The two ladies were extremely nice and took time to talk to us. We felt really welcome and would definitely come back again!

Popped in for a breakfast in between work duties... and wish I hadn't had to leave so quickly but had to get to my next appointment. Really friendly staff. Lovely breakfast, I picked my own and had 2 beautifully poached eggs on sourdough toast, bacon, cooked cherry tomatoes on the vine, sausage and mushrooms with garlic through them. Coffee was lovely and the whole breakfast was really tasty. Don't get me wrong, just love a good ole greasy spoon cafe ... but this has got to be the tastiest breakfast I've ever had. A very satisfied customer who will be returning.

I live in Walmer village and have been itching to come here since you have opened. Anyway, yesterday I finally made it in and had a wonderful cooked vegetarian breakfast. It was just delicious, all the ingredients were homemade and I could not fault it, I managed to eat the lot and felt good afterwards (unlike having a fried breakfast). The service was genuine and friendly and the décor felt so homely. I will most definitely be coming back! Even just to sample those scones, they looked divine :) it is a real treat to have you in upper Walmer.

We had a very good brunch today. The food was first class all freshly cooked. My poached eggs were perfect and the home made sour bread with home made marmalade was delicious! it is a small tea room but tastefully decorated with all the nice finishing touches, from the bone china tea service to the spotless lace tablecloths. The service was also 5*! anyone who doesn't appreciate good food in a welcoming environment should perhaps snack in a Motorway service station!!

Having seen that there are 15 reviews raving about the place, I would like to tell you of my experience which is totally different. As we drove past the cafe looking for a parking space I could see two couples seated. My wife and I entered the cafe a few minutes later and another couple came in just after us, making a total of eight people. We were told that as we had all come in at once it would be 10 minutes before we would be served. 10 minutes later we were given menus. We ordered breakfast and a pot of tea for 2. A further 10 minutes past and a pot of warm tea arrived. It was awful. 2 couples were served with their breakfast about 20 to 30 minutes after that and at this point we were told that they were just about to start cooking our breakfast and it would be a further 10 minutes as everything was home made. At this point we declined the breakfast and left. I would add that the milk jug was dirty and there were stains on the table cloth. There were 2 people working that day, but with only 8 people to cook for and only breakfast items ordered the delay was unaccountable. We will not be returning.

My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter are frequent visitors, so I decided to pop in for an all-day-breakfast/lunch this week. And it was stunning. Everything freshly cooked, home-made and delicious, pot of tea topped up as needed, lovely sourdough toast with plenty of butter (didn't try the home-made marmalade). Shame it defeated me, as I couldn't quite finish it all. And such a friendly welcome. I'll certainly be back.

Always get a warm welcome here and a nice chat which is nice as I was on my own. Had homemade baked beans on sourdough toast with cheesy topping, delicious. Planning on going back with friends for pizza one Friday evening. Had a sneak preview at pizza menu and they all sound amazing. Thanks Mickey and Ginny.

Very sad to say that our experience of papa’s tonight was appalling. My 84 year old mother went in to order, she was snapped at because she couldn’t hear, she was tutted and commented at in a rude way because she adjusted her face covering, we were made to wait in the smelly alley way for the food , and when I asked if there were any napkins I was told “no” No explanation just a curt “no” Won’t be going back there again there is no excuse for rudeness !

🍻 A Taste of Oktoberfest at Taphouse Beer Cafe! 🍻 If you’re looking for authentic Oktoberfest vibes, Taphouse Beer Cafe is the place to be! Their festive grub was absolutely top-notch, from the mouthwatering bratwursts, perfectly paired with an impressive selection of beers. The pretzel was soft and salty, just the way it should be, and the mustard was perfect. Service was spot on.
