The Hawthorn’s Restaurant in Bolton

We had our daughters wedding at The Hawthorns on Friday 28 June and what a brilliant day it was from beginning to end. Such a lovely relaxed venue with fabulous friendly staff, who made sure the event ran smoothly throughout the day, from straightening ties before the wedding procession entered and calming nerves with their reassuring words to being on hand throughout the reception and evening do. The roast beef wedding breakfast was delicious 👌🏼 followed by handmade stone baked pizzas 🍕 from their own silver bullet pizza van in the courtyard for the evening - again delicious 😋 with any left over pizzas boxed for the guests to take home. The venue accommodated our every request - nothing seemed too much trouble. The lady in charge was absolutely amazing, easy to talk to and made me feel completely chilled and at ease and her husband was the chef that created the lovely reception meal. Thank you for making my daughter’s wedding a fantastic day full of memories that the newly married Mr and Mrs Middleton and all their guests will treasure. I would certainly recommend this venue its friendly and accommodating, competitively priced, situated in beautiful surroundings perfect for photos and their wedding organiser Kirsty was easy to talk to, helpful and professional from the day we visited one of their open days several months ago to the actual wedding day. I can’t thank you all enough for making it such a fantastic day for us.

We can’t praise The Hawthorns highly enough following our visit on 21st April. We booked ‘The Tea Rooms’ from 5pm to 10pm and a total of 47 people, celebrating three milestone birthdays, enjoyed a 3 course meal followed by drinks and chat. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Dawn, Jordan and all the team have been fantastic in planning for the event and also on the day itself. They were so friendly, supportive and accommodating to our every request. We have received lots of messages from people who attended our celebration complimenting the food and the service. We have no hesitation what so ever in recommending The Hawthorns. We will most certainly be back. Keith, Dorinda and Karen

This is a “hidden gem” situated just off the A6 Blackrod bypass. The restaurant is part of the beautiful event venue that offers weddings and other celebrations and events. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced.

Attended today for a funeral tea. The food was excellent, the Manager and her son, were amazing. Friendly, on the ball. Nothing too much for them..Excellent venue.

I booked the Hawthorns for my Dad’s funeral and all I can say is that they made what was a difficult day absolutely amazing. Dawn and Kirsty were so thoughtful and helpful from the planning process right up until the day. The venue is so beautiful and the food was delicious. 10 out of 10 for customer service and we will definitely be back again to renew our wedding vows. Can’t think of anywhere else to go to to celebrate any event. Thank you again for your support and kindness.

Went with family had a lovely afternoon tea. Lots of food to eat great cakes to chose from. Service was excellent very friendly. Will go again nice setting.

What a great venue. Set back quite a way from the main road, perfect for children. Lovely view and outside area. Plenty of parking. Spotlessly clean inside. Granddaughter’s christening. Plenty of room and tables not cramped together, enough room if you want a singer. Food was amazing and drinks are very reasonably priced. Although the perfect venue what made it for us was the staff, so friendly and bubbly nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

We have been here a few times and are always surprised by how quiet it is. The venue is lovely and the staff are excellent. This day hubby opted for mushrooms and Sunday lunch. I, being gluten intolerant had a cod Sunday lunch and onion bajji. I have to say that the young lady waiting was very good helping sort something for lunch for me. I really recommend going here.

Even have eaten here several times. The food is good quality, cooked and presented well. The staff are very accommodating, friendly and courteous. The restaurant is very bright and airy with a good ambience inside. There is also outside seating if needed. Would very much recommend theirs restaurant for a good dining experience.

Booked a table, hadn't been for a ouple of years. Oh dear, what a mistake. Used to be a restaraunt now its a fast food cafe. Nothing on menu we wanted so in desperation we both ordered fish and chips. Frozen fish, frozen chips, tinned mushy peas at a cost of £14 each !!! Daylight robbery. Worst meal I have ever had anywhere. How people can be rating highly I cannot fathom? Oh, and it was really cold, terrible draft from the door which was wide open. Only saving grace was the staff who were very effecient.

Poor service and bland food. Visited yesterday as my mother in law was treating us to a meal and there are good vegan choices here for my daughter. We order peri peri chicken, philly steak gyros, small fish and chips and a vegan flat bread with salt and pepper fries. After waiting 45 mins and watching other tables receive food (when they had arrived after us) I asked how long it would be. This was after going to the bar to order more drinks as no one came to check on us. I was then told it takes 30 mins for the chicken as its cooked from scratch, ok I thought ar least its fresh but shouldn't we be told this on ordering or put it on the menu description of the dish. The food arrived shortly after. The vegan flatbread was good but the salt n pepper chips were very bland, no chilli in them. The philli steak had a miniscule amount of cheese only located by searching and minimal onions although hubby said it was tasty. Fish and chips was OK. The chicken was nicely cooked but there was no peri peri flavouring on the skin or anywhere else it was just plain chicken. The fries were tasteless as was the rice and I am not even sure why rice was part of the dish? The plates were never cleared from the table despite the fact it took us 20 mins to finish our drinks after finishing the food. Or leaving most of mine in fact. To add insult to injury no one asked at any point how the food was even when we had to go to the bar to pay our bill as no one came to check on us. The bill was 76.60 for the food and 6 pints plus half a shandy. This is probably the first time in over 10 years I did not tip, I was once a waitress and always tip but this time I just could not. This pub needs to learn from its sister pub The Railway in Bromley Cross what good food and service means. I won't be returning thats for sure.

It's been a couple of years since our last visit and where disappointed to see the menu had changed so dramatically.What has happened?

We just called in for a quick mid week drink about 9 0’clock. There weren’t many diners in but we were made very welcome by Jacob. The place was nicely decorated and clean. I took a menu and I will be back to check the food out.

Decor lovely, food dreadful. Firstly we has to send the coors light back as it tasted awful & musty. It was swapped for am alternative without question. The food arrived, one meal luke warm.. the so called philly cheese steak gyros was lacking in cheese and small for its £12 price tag. I've had better from the freezers in Iceland. The apple crumble priced at £6 was also small and disappointing. We mentioned our issues to the waitress and I had to ask if she had passed our feedback to the kitchen. It appeared to be ignored. Overall a pricey meal out for less than mediocre food. Service was very slow but the were quick to keep asking about drinks. £2.50 for a small coke explains why. We won't be returning and we're really looking forward to it as we'd heard good things.

Beautiful decor & a lovely atmosphere, staff were friendly & helpful. We had the light bites / sharing menu which was all very good. Great choice of dishes and we’ll definitely be back to try more.

Visited during inside dining. Was told it was a new menu, which I thought was excellent. Lots of choice and I love the small plates concept. Food and service was excellent, the staff were so friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.

First time out for a meal since lockdown. Arrived to be told we had to wait for our table. That took 30 mins this was ok. After ordering had to wait over an hour for the food, it arrived burnt so had to send it back. When trying to order desert we got told no as you only get 2 hours on the table. As we were 30 mins late in sitting down the lady (manager I think) advised we would still get our full time but the waitress said no, this same waitress was also very rude when serving and I don’t think she knew how to smile, I didn’t get her name she had long blonde hair tied in a pony tail. We got dessert as the manager over heard her tellIng us no. I was really disappointed in the menu and the service, after visiting this place a lot over the years and having functions there I was so looking forward to it. Needless to say we won’t be going back!!

First meal out since lockdown, we were sat outside in the sun which was nice , limited menu, we opted for the burgers. I had the buffalo chicken burger which was absolutely amazing. The only criticism we can give is that the deserts at £6 each didn’t live up to our expectations. Very tasteless and small. Overall a good experience and service was good. ..

We came here for our first lunch out since lockdown and had a great time. We ordered lots of small plates which were absolutely delicious and had the best pornstar martinis we have ever had. All the staff were lovely and provided excellent service.

Had the vegetarian roast Sunday dinner from their dine in at home menu. Absolutely amazing. Thank you

We visited The Hawthorns on a few occasions during the help out to eat out promotion at lunchtimes choosing from the lunchtime special offers. The surroundings are very nice and the staff pleasant and the service good. The prices were good value for money however we ordered Eton Mess which was a little bit of a letdown just served in a bowl with very little fruit and lacked presentation however this would not put us off returning. The children’s menu was excellent value for money and wasn’t much smaller than the adults portion of fish and chips and I think the garlic bread was the same size as a standard one off the main menu.

After searching for a nice place to eat after an hour of driving, we stumbled across this amazing place! We was met by the lovely manageress who greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us to our table! The food was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t fault it at all! The whole team was lovely and looked after us with the greatest service! I believe the managers name is Michelle and I would like to pass on my thanks to you and your team! Absolutely love this restaurant I’ve visited continuously for 2 years however recently there has been a change in atmosphere the staff don’t seem as happy and the lady that greeted us and served us wasn’t very polite and welcoming which I think is a result of the unhappy staff. Me and my boyfriend felt as if we had to leave in a hurry as she made us feel rushed out like we was an issue. This is not how we should be made to feel when visiting a restaurant. Also the young girls on the floor were well presented and always have been, they were lovely as always, however the lady that has greeted us the past few times hasn’t been this way and her ‘uniform’ doesn’t match the rest of the staff for example flowery trainers. On the other hand the food was amazing as usual I had the lamb and my boyfriend had a steak and it was cooked to perfection. The 2 young blonde girls on the floor who have served me many of the times throughout the past 2 years were a delight as usual and as welcoming as always.

We have eaten at Hawthorns twice now in the last 5 weeks and can't praise it enough the staff are so friendly and efficient, the food is so good , to be honest we were cherry tree regular's, but Hawthorns food is just as good and to be honest more comfortable we can actually hear ourselves talk! it will now become our new regular place to eat! the fish and chips and mushy peas were the best, the steaks are a good size, perfect place to visit, will be back soon and will be booking for a family meal leading up to Christmas, hope it's all decorated up for Christmas, it would look lovely !

Came to try out The Hawthorns as it has changed hands with the new owner Mike. We came during the EOTHO scheme and I had a few starters with the only criticism being that the peppercorn sauce was very overpowering with the bold taste of green peppercorns. Missus ordered a medium rare fillet steak which could of done with a couple more minutes resting as it left a pool of blood. Would definitely go again and would still recommend for a couples meal.

For the price £14.50 per head as a family we were very disappointed with the food provided for a wake. Thick bread with a choice of tuna, Roast beef Hardly visable, cheese and onion, for the sandwiches. Fish goujons and thick chips and sausage rolls. The Desserts were the best part although were dumped in middle of table and had to serve yourselves(which my daughter did).Don't normally complain but l think the price and choice selection for a wake needs to be rethought, I could of brought an m and s buffet which would of been quality food for half the price.Give credit were credit is due it was a beautiful venue.

Visited with my friend for our lunch, greeted by the staff and promptly seated. Lovely furnishings inside and it was nice to see the menu had changed since our previous visit! The service was friendly and professional throughout, the only issue was the food wasn’t on the same standard, fairly bland tasting and room temperature.... and the chips weren’t fully cook.

This was my 4th visit in as many weeks again a lovely evening with delicious food cant fault the place . I've read other reviews saying drinks were expensive they are no.more expensive than any other restaurant or pub for that matter in the locale &,it certainly wont stop me from returning

Visited on bank holiday on the eat out to help out deal.Visited as a family of 5. We all had a main and a dessert. The fish and chips were nice but nothing you couldn’t get anywhere else. Two of us had this from the lunch menu. My youngest had the pizza from the child’s menu which was a really big portion which was good. The restaurant was very busy, which was to be expected and the service wasn’t particularly fast but it was bank holiday and with the eat out scheme on we didn’t mind. They brought out our main meals a good few minutes before my youngest daughters meal so she was sat waiting for her meal. My daughter ordered the chocolate orange brownie for dessert which she said was quite dry and she wouldn’t have again. Three of us ordered sticky toffee pudding from the main menu for dessert, it was ok for half price wouldn’t have been impressed at £6 as it was quite bland.My daughter was eating her dessert and as she raised her spoon from the pudding a saw a big hair slide out of the pudding. I stopped her and she continued to pull the hair from the centre of the pudding. She then found another smaller hair inside the pudding. We mentioned it to a waiter who brought someone who I assumed was the manager. She stood looking at the hair on my daughters spoon and said ‘well I don’t know how that could have got there because the kitchen staff are all boys’. She said she was going to go in to the kitchen to see how it could’ve happened but she didn’t come back with an explanation. She offered to change it and another was brought out which was all we wanted but that comment made me feel like she was insinuating that we had put it there. My daughter in all fairness has long hair which she was wearing down however the hair appeared blonde and my daughter has very red hair. It was obviously not one of hers. We noticed a camera in the corner of the room so I would hope that they will review the footage to confirm that we didn’t put the hair there. It’s really been winding me up thinking about it since we left. It’s just disgusting, especially with the COVID situation at the moment. It’s such a shame as we had our wedding at this venue 14 years ago when it was called Potafino. We wanted to bring our children to show them our wedding venue. Unfortunately we probably won’t return here again due to our experience this time and the comment made by the manager which is a shame because the mains were nice but there are plenty of other places we can eat without being made to feel bad about finding a hair in our food!

Ate when using the eat out scheme food was nice but wouldn't of been worth it if we was paying full price.

Good but could be much better. That was my opinion after dining recently, a nice place with good food definitely, but also need to polish up on a few issues. The menu is good and thorough with a great listing on the lunch menu of ingredients/ information. I chose the main menu and was more than pleased with the scallops. The main of sea bass was good as well with fantastic lemon & olive oil new potatoes, however the samphire hadn’t been prepped properly and felt like cocktail sticks in my mouth, I told this to the waiter after finishing my meal but got no feedback ( I wasn’t asked about my meal while eating it ). I opted for the panna cotta for dessert but was told it wasn’t ready so then chose the chocolate brownie with minted chocolate ice cream but was delivered with vanilla !Again I wasn’t asked but told the waitress later who apologised. The waiter seemed to spend a long time talking to a particular table and that resulted in plates not being cleared for 15 mins and a 3 course meal taking an hour and 45 minutes despite the restaurant not being full.

Hit and miss - but worth another go: Certainly a great refurbishment and follow Covid regs ok, showing hospitality more than hospital attitude: service was ok and can see it only improving as the young team get more experience: Had Sunday lunch and food a little hit and miss: mussels were pasteurised (even though they said they weren’t, shells cracking and chewy often give it away) goats cheese pannacotta, lacked goats cheese so when served with summer berries was more of a desert: go back to classics with the walnut and pear and acidic dressing, not reduced sweetened balsamic: Roast beef was very good (got mine M/R) and vegetables and roast potatoes all good and classic roasted roots: would be great to see cauliflower cheese, would even pay additional for it: Chocolate browny was a let down, was more cake. Absolutely no gooey (ness) and vanilla ice cream (asked instead of mint chip) was crystallised.. Review reads a little harsh, as I said we would go back again and I hope the Chef considers the comments and the detail. Finally and very concerning is the allergens page, which reads incorrect information. Someone needs to sort that out or you will have issues with guests: example is Molluscs they list as none on the menu, yet they have both Mussels and scallops!! There are other incorrect notions also..

I had a very positive experience at this Restruant, whilst taking advantage of the “Eat Out to Help Out” Scheme. The ‘Covid’ safety protocols were implemented in a Professional and reassuring way. The Staff followed the Restruant’s Policies and Procedures to the ‘book’. The Starter was one of the best dishes I’ve had for ages ( I had the King Prawns and Chorizo) I decided to have the “Hells Pizza” as a Main Course, which was delicious. However, I ‘bottled out ‘ at adding the Fiery sauce, which came with it! My Wife’s meal also received very favourable comments. I can thoroughly recommend this Establishment.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch yesterday. Fantastic food and excellent service. The staff are lovely and friendly, especially Zac who was very attentive and made it such an enjoyable visit. Highly recommend. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Enjoyed a lovely meal with my parents at the Hawthorns on Tuesday evening. The lady on the bar, suggested a very refreshing pink raspberry gin and we have salt and pepper squid for starter. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere, even though it was busy with the eat out to help out offer on. Would definitely recommend the pizzas to anyone, especially the goats cheese and caramelised onion! Thank you for a lovely experience.

Amazing visit last week at The Hawthorns! Great atmosphere, couldn’t fault the service, all members of staff happy and smiling despite how busy the restaurant was. Would recommend the scallops and Lamb Henry! Good COVID 19 measures in place as well! Will be back again

We had a fantastic meal on 10 August. Food was fantastic. All fresh produce and meat. No ping in the microwave. Staff very attentive. We were so pleased we called for lunch today. Again not a thing you could fault. We had food inside then sat out on the terrace, great views of Rivington. You are certainly doing things well. Keep up the good work. See you soon

I visited on the 13 of August. It was very busy and at capacity but all government guidelines were being followed. The wait was a little long but that was clearly due to how busy it was. The food was absolutely excellent so tasty and I will definitely be back again. I love this little restaurant/pub. The staff were absolutely amazing. Zac and Michelle are doing an awesome job! I’ll be back soon

We had no problem with the service, the staff were young and stretched quite thin as the restaurant seemed to be at capacity.Unfortunately the food didn’t hit the mark on this occasion. Friends and family have told me that when they have visited the overall experience has been very good, so I should perhaps put our evening down as an off night.We opted for the scallops to start, which didn’t taste of much; a bit disappointing as I’d never had them before and was excited to try.For my main I had the Lamb Henry. The meat was largely nice and moist, but did have areas where it was dry. Furthermore, the broccoli and potatoes weren’t cooked properly. This, coupled with a very sticky table, resulted in a disappointing experience overall, but I’m sure the difficulties aren’t anything that can’t be overcome.

As with other reviews we went as part of the government eat out to help out but wish I hadn't.The staff were polite and working hard but service was very slow. 45 mins from taking our order to the starter and another 45 mins before the mains arrived. Even the waiter was embarrassed. We also hard him talking to customers he new well saying the same thing as they also complainedThe only covid precautions seemed to be the sanitiser when entering. No explanation of any precautions. no questions about households as mentioned on the website. The staff weren't using any facemasks at all and one member of staff touching a customer on the shoulder while talking who they obviously knew but I didn't feel this should happen in the restaurant while working with current covid restrictions I found a £9 starter for 2 and a half scallops excessive although acceptable with the current discount.Overall the food was OK but nothing I would love to go back to so unfortunately we won't be going again even with the current discounts.A shame really as I expected much better

We visited the hawthorns last night to take part in the eat out to help out , even though it was busy we had a great experience and the staff were still as tentative as ever! Would highly recommend. Food was amazing as well.

I visited with my friends on Wednesday 12 August. It was very busy obviously due to the ear out to help out scheme. I had the king prawns and chorizo to start which was very tasty. And for main I had a fillet stake which was cooked to perfection. The staff were very helpful and attentive. I will definitely be coming back with the rest of my family.

Thus, was the first time we had been to Hawthorns and decided to take advantage of the eat out to help out. I tried the club sandwich which come with a lively chicken breast crispy bacon slaw and cute skin on fries, my mum had the lovey fish and chips which was huge and could finish and the fish was lovely and white and meaty, my uncle had the black a d blue burger again livy presented with the charcoal bin and chips and slaw. We will definitely be coming back again to try something else and next time make room for a pudding

Both had steak. Cooked just as ordered. Lovely chips too. Service a little slow. Husband disappointed with available draught beer and lager. Spacious table. Windows and door open so plenty fresh air on quite a warm evening. Nice decor.

I came here for lunch with my family to take advantage of the Eat Out To Help Out offer. We were sat outside in the patio area which was really calm and surrounded by a nice garden area and with great views of the scenic surroundings. The service was very good, especially from Michelle the new General Manager, and it was good to see inside that some tables had been removed so that a 1 metre distance could be kept and there were multiple hand sanitising stations. We all had pizzas which were cooked to perfection and with a great selection. I would recommend the Hell's pizza if you're brave enough to try it!

We didn’t realise that The Hawthorns accepted dogs.We went last Saturday food was amazing and the service was second to none hats off to Jacob he was very attentive and couldn’t do enough.We noticed the place has had a makeover very homely and welcoming booked again for today

Went there on August 4th with my wife daughter and two friendsthe food brilliant and the service outstanding food presentation was excellent ,nothing was too muchBoth the manager and staff gave excellent service and nothing too much.I even got the glass i was drinking out of to take home .

Good food and service but felt the tables were too close together as we were definitely closer than 1 metre to other chairs/people. I would have also preferred it if staff were to wear some kind of protection (face shields or masks) for the safety of their customers and themselves.

We visited on a Friday night at the end of July and were really impressed. The decor is modern yet comfortable and we were looked after from arrival until leaving. Highly recommend the sambuca mussels and black pudding and poached egg starters. We will be back.

I visited with my boyfriend on a Tuesday evening. Great service, amazing food, wonderful staff! My boyfriend had the salt and pepper squid for starters and said it was the best he had ever had, really thick but cooked to perfection. 2 starters, 2 mains plus 5 alcoholic drinks for £65!!! Fantastic value for money and the quality of the food ... Well .. pay a visit yourself! We will most certainly be back! Thankyou!

the food here was AMAZING!!! i for some lovely food and was even further taken aback by the quality of service. this is my first time visiting here and will definitely be returning. our server Jacob was lovely and very attentive. the only downside to eating here is that it’s so good i wanted to eat everything and then couldn’t finish my meal!

Visited on a Friday night with a friend at 7 o'clock, everything was absolutely perfect. All drinks came really fast, the food was full of flavour (definitely recommend the squid) and our server, Jacob, was so attentive. There's nothing I could fault. We felt really comfortable and never once felt rushed. Thank you so much

We had our first meal in months.we went to the Hawthorns Restaurant in Blackrod.Tables all set out at safe distance from each other.Food was excellent and large portions couldnt fault anything . Service great the staff are all so helpful.The Sticky Toffee pudding was to die for sooo gooood .Give it a try its well worth a visit i promise you will not be dissapointed .Keep up the good work .WE WILL BE BACK .

The new decor reflects the efficient and quality staff, the head waiter Zac looked after us, the meal was just what we were all looking for.

This restaurant. is , on the Blckrod Bi-pass,Look for the golf signs... the dining...room is..spacious with a special childrens menu.I had chicken pate for starters,chips fish peas as main and ice cream for sweet with coffee, ,all this for £116 for 3 adults and 2 children.unbeatable value

After the lockdown it was great to get out again. Boy, what a surprise, the atmosphere was great and the newly refurbed location was a sight to behold, but the restaurant still managed the safe distancing without spoiling the evening. I must say the menu was a delight, I had black pudding starter, lovely, followed by fried chicken, which was very tasty. All in all the evening was fantastic with very helpful staff, especially Jacob, who could not do enough for you, he had a great attitude to service ensuring that you had what you required. The beverage choice was great as well, some nice beers at nice prices. All in all, well worth a trip.

The renovation, food and staff (especially Jacob) are all absolutely amazing!! A massive improvement. I would 100% recommend

Went with my parents and three year old for tea. Food was really tasty, good quality and obviously all cooked from scratch! The staff made us all feel really welcome. Great ambience and decor was fresh and pleasant. The restaurant was impeccably clean and they are clearly adhering to covid requirements, which is good to see. We will definitely be paying a visit again soon.

Nothing more infuriating than an out of date website can’t book on opentable. Just says there are no reservations available. Phoned and was told they now book through someone else. Not a good way to encourage business. No wonder it’s not very busy.

I came here with my family on the first Sunday that it opened. The food was amazing in presentation and taste and it had a very relaxed atmosphere. All the staff were really friendly, especially the new general manager Michelle who has really brought the place back to life! Will definitely be visiting again soon.

There were 29 of us for a 60th birthday celebration. We had a set menu which still had 3 choices on each courses for everyone to pick from and a gluten free menu for one of our guests. The restaurant is warm and welcoming, the food was good and the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend Hawthorns and are looking forward to going back in the future.

This restaurant is amazing, the best restaurant I have ever visited. The staff are pleasant and fantastic! I had the steak, it was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. All the other party members enjoyed their meal too. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area or locals to try this. Keep up the good work!!!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Not only is the food impeccable but the service and hospitality is top notch. The staff were so attentive and detail oriented making it a truly one of a kind experience. It is an intimate restaurant, not overly crowded with tables.They have a variety of menus to choose from and all food category’s are absolutely delicious.We also had our sons 1st birthday party here in there well sized and bright function room. Every one of the guests commented on how great the staff, room and food were.We rate it so highly here that our wedding reception is booked here for 2021!

Love this place. The food and service is always first class. Cannot understand why there is never a queue around the corner and onto the golf course next door.

Just wanted to leave a review about how wonderful this place is. It’s a gold mine. We had our Christmas do here and what a fantastic night. The staff could not do enough for us. The manager made us feel welcomed nothing was to much trouble he even put on cheese and biscuits when it wasn’t on the menu just to cater for our needs. Not many places would do that. Was a bargain at £35 a head for 3 course meal and it was SUPERB.. we had Freddie Mercury on and a magician to our table. It was one of the best nights we ever had. And a couple of people couldn’t make it that night due to illness, the food for them came out and I asked them if we could maybe get a voucher for the 2 that didn’t turn up. They ended up given me £60 vouchers That shows how accommodating and thoughtful for our night.. Defo going there again I’ve eaten there before and it was fantastic value and fantastic food. Staff really make you feel like your the most important person there. OUTSTANDING well done guys and girls. Specially the manager. Will be going back this year for defo Loved loved loved it

We have visited a few times over the Christmas period. On arrival we are always greeted by friendly staff, the restaurant is very clean with lovely decor and wonderful views. Food is always very fresh, tasty, cooked perfectly and very well presented each time. Both food and drinks are reasonably priced. All the staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to ensure your visit to Hawthorns is excellent. Zak & John are a great team, very attentive and create a great atmosphere within the restaurant.

Myself and 17 other colleagues went to The Hawthorns for our annual Xmas lunch. The food was very nice, we had pre-order all our choices beforehand, everything was presented very nicely and was nice and hot, compliments to the Chef. The Manager and his assistant were extremely friendly and helpful I cannot fault them whatsoever, they were both very attentive and kept checking we are all OK and if we needed any more drinks. The place itself is really tastefully decorated and looks very fresh. We will definitely be going back there again next year. The only issues is the potholes outside going to the restaurant seriously need filling in they are very large and could damage a car especially in the dark!

Just had a very pleasant dining experience at the Hawthorn restaurant all three courses were very tasty lots of flavour and well presented.

the al a carte menu is amazing and the food is cooked really well and the presentation is perfect. There is a 2/3 course menu option at a fixed price. there is also a specials. The staff are very friendly and welcoming also happy to help and make adjustments to the menu to meet individual tastes. The setting has magnificent views of Rivington an intimate bar area and the function room is well placed.This is defiantly a destination for food, atmosphere and to share with friends and family

Plenty of parking in the car park and had to smile at the hearse place opposite.

Called in for a quick bit with the wife and the food was bland and tasteless and the staff unapologetic to our complaint, pity as we were thinking of booking a large birthday here

Visited twice now once for Sunday Lunch and once for dinner , the food is excellent the service second to none , cannot recommend highly enough , thanks John for looking after us , your a gem .

Came here for our Anniversary we haven’t been since it changed to Hawthorns we booked a table so when we arrived a little early we had a drink near the bar at first the service was not that good we felt we were left and forgotten about as we had to ask could we go to our table.Once seated service was better,food was excellent we had 3 courses all delicious.Chicken liver pate French onion soup followed by Sea bass and the Hake.Dessert we shared a salted caramel cheesecake with drinks it was very reasonable as the portions are big.Staff were friendly and attentive

Last night we had our Presentation Awards Evening at the Hawthorns and it was fab. John, Zac and the staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. To get food out to 160 hungry adults and children in such a short space of time was amazing, and the food was as brilliant as ever. Thank you all, we will definitely be returning.

Attended the Hawthorns for my daughters wedding recently and we were blown away!

We had 3 birthdays within 4 days chose here because hadn’t been before, the Sunday lunch is a large portion my son in law struggled to finish, between the 7 diners we had 2 children who enjoyed the choice of meal, I had cod it was beautiful thoroughly enjoyed it couldn’t eat a pudding. We all enjoyed the meal and surprisingly only the children managed pud . Overall a nice family meal

We took our Morning Mums out for a little treat and we decided to try this place.

Visited with a friend for an impromptu lunch. Wow ... what a fantastic restaurant with the most delicious food. We decided on the Monday-Thursday 2 course for £14.95. Fantastic selection of both starters & mains.. both our meals were fabulous both with presentation & taste. Our waiter Zac was so attentive & helpful. Will definitely be back ...& very soon.

Lovely, cosy restaurant with a fab atmosphere and stunning views. Staff are wonderful; very friendly, polite and helpful. Food is fresh and they cater for all dietary requirements.

This was a lovely afternoon spent at the Hawthorns with all the family for this very special occasion. The service was friendly and helpful especially as there was 22 of us. The meals were good and no one had to wait for there food. Would definately recomend you try this restaurant. I didnt have the cheese pie but it looked really nice and the people who had it said it was very good. We will definately be there again soon.

We traditionally eat pizza the night before Ironman and this rated highest in the area as a pizzeria.

Went to the hawthorns for our regular Sunday lunch however, I opted for pizza, a first I must say, absolutely amazing. My wife treated herself to the surf and turf she is still talking about it now! Can not fault this place. Definitely the best restaurant in Blackrod!

I decided to take my dad out for Father’s Day to a local restaurant.
