The Courthouse Restaurant & Bar in Bolton

Visited on a Saturday night, really busy. Excellent food- had the ‘ain’t easy being cheesy burger’ absolutely excellent. Tasty and good value. Other people had things such as the chicken supreme- absolutely delicious. Smart venue and good people, spent £30 per head with drinks. Magnificent. Highly recommend.

DO NOT GO If 0 stars was possible I would give had to send a pizza back cos all the toppings fell off had better frozen, cocktails had no alcohol purely juice when pizza was sent back chicken burger was given very low standard thin not crispy and charged £1 for sauce. We got a plate of chicken strips £9 and got 3 of them. Food looked nothing like the pics lower standard than a takeaway.

Did bottomless brunch for 9 people and the drinks were bottomless. food arrived before first drink .was chasing waitress all night only got 1 bottle of presecco all night .asked for 2 drinks per person as the drinks were taking 15 mins to arrive they wouldn't .most people were sat without a drink fir most of the night.happy to take booking as they thought it wouldn't be busy it was.waitress should of been with us for the duration or had more staff .worst bottomless brunch I've been to nobody got there moneys worth .wouldn't recommend.

Had such a good experience and bar staff and waitresses always making sure tables have got drinks and food all the time always checking sure your okay at the tables and Milan the manager was spectacular.

We always visit courthouse and it’s always perfect every time! Food and drinks are very good, we’ve never had a bad experience 😊 We recently hosted our engagement party here and it is the perfect venue, the staff were amazing from start to finish from booking to drinks being served. We would highly recommend courthouse to anyone thinking about booking an event here or even visiting for food or drink!! 🥂

Last minute decision to visit here was not a wasted opportunity, I thoroughly enjoyed the small plates of food and the cocktails really hit the spot when they are prepared properly. Will definitely be going back for more of the same.

Absolutely horrendous, don’t usually complain about food however what they claimed was salt and pepper calamari didn’t have any salt or pepper and was bland, burger looked like it had been ran over quite a few times, luckily we didn’t bring my autistic sibling as the atmosphere was loud and isn’t inclusive to people with disabilities, the only saving grace would have been the lamb if it had been seasoned before cooking, I advise that you drink heavily if you’d like to eat here, very over priced for what it’s worth

Food was awful well overpriced for the portion size. Service was terrible had me and my family waiting ages for a starter & we didn’t get asked if we wanted drinks after being there for half an hour. I asked to see the manager at the end of the meal to complain about the food not being warm enough (I assume it was microwaved) and the manager was rude. I will not be returning and heard bad stuff about this place but thought I’d give it a try as it’s on my door stop. Avoid eating here, terrible.

Customer service was above reproach the bartender and waitress couldn’t be more friendly and professional. The food was superb from first the taste to the last. The ambience was very refreshing and modern. It just made the hold dining experience relaxing and special night for the both of us. We will be go back this September again when we visit Bolton from Florida. I recommend The Court House Bolton for a romantic dinner out.

The food was banging, when it eventually arrived… the service was very slow… 1 person taking food orders at the table, 1 person taking orders at the bar 1 person making cocktails and a young lad that couldn’t serve… it wasn’t super busy but it was busy enough…the waiting around was abit of a joke, having 1 more person would have probably helped stood at the bar a good 15mins. Probably won’t return

Went in for leaving do drinks. No Guinness as tap was out of order but the Cruz Campo was excellent. Great selection of cocktails. Very friendly staff.

Food and service were amazing! The steak was absolutely succulent. Only thing was that the music was just too loud and there was only us and a handful of other dinners around 4 pm

After visiting on 23/05/24 was really disappointed with the new menu and cocktails menu. Shame the blue cheese sauce is off the menu goes perfectly with your amazing steaks. Gutted the cocoberries cocktails has also been taken off the drinks menu.

We always come here food is absolutely amazing and service is always fantastic my only complaint is the lighting in the ladies bathroom isn't working.

Was very busy but we didn't have to wait for a table probably because there was only 2 of us. There was background music but was drowned out by everyone talking loudly. Staff were polite and diligent and the food seemed freshly cooked which is always a bonus these days. Parking is limited but plenty of taxis. Wouldn't say it was wheelchair friendly. Good selection of drinks and not overpriced in my opinion.

I ate here yesterday for the second time. Food and service is always spot on. However on this occasion I went to the toilet but had to come straight out as there was the most horrible smell all over the toilet area in the corridor and when I opened the door I was nearly sick. I've never smelt anything like it before in a restaurant. I told the bar staff who said they'd go and check straight away. I sat and watched them and not one of them went in. Baring in mind the place had only recently reopened due to a 'problem'. Seems the problem hadn't been properly fixed on re-opening. It needs addressing ASAP as this is a serious issue.

Popped in for lunch. Not busy which was good. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu has a wide choice and we chose dirty fries. The portions were large, tasty and nicely presented. Think we will go for the 2 for £15 next time! My only negative is that the dining area seemed cold. We weren't sitting near the door. A friend who visited last week made the same comment.

A great place for a pre show Octagon meal. Just tell the staff when you need to leave for the show.

Booked a table for a small party of 4 to enjoy a festive lunch with colleagues; the staff were extremely helpful when I made the initial booking - even when I phoned to make a last minute amendment to add another person. The serving staff were very patient, helpful & respectful to us all and were clearly making us, along with other parties feel welcome. The timing of general service & bringing out the food was clearly well thought out - something that rarely gets mentioned in a review but makes a big difference. The food itself (I can only judge the food I personally ordered) was cooked perfectly; delicate and seasoned tastefully, the lamb main course & garnish was indulgent in flavour - a very generous serving too, but this is what you would want to expect in a festive winter dish! If I was to give any constructive criticism I'd have to be a bit nit-picky here; the prices of the individual dishes are a little on the high-side for the local area - but I can only say this is justified for two reasons: as I picked from the set 'festive menu' the price was reduced somewhat, and secondly the service & quality of the food were also above the accepted standard of what I would expect in the local area. Spent a couple of hours here early new years eve. Service was great. Cocktails were so good. We had a selection of starters and they were all very good. Music was sooooo good I didn't want to leave.

I went with my friend for a meal at 6:45 and they wouldn’t let us in due to me not bringing ID as i was driving so therefore wasn’t planning to drink. it said nothing on the website about needing to bring ID and we booked a reservation so assumed we could go inside for a meal. the bouncer himself was very rude and passive aggressive, making comments about how my attitude stinks. I am very shocked and appalled at this kind of service. It’s new year’s eve, and now i’ve been made to go back home due to every where else being fully booked, and we booked the courthouse in advanced to prevent this happening. I felt embarrassed at the public confrontation that he presented towards us. It said on the website that we would be charged if we didn’t turn up to our reservation, now that means we will be charged even though we did turn up but they didn’t let us in. It’s as if i’m being charged for public humiliation. I went out of my way to travel to this restaurant and would have been too much hassle and time consuming if i was to go back home and fetch my ID. I also had to pay for parking to visit this restaurant and that has gone to waste. I wish for compensation for the humiliation i encountered.

Good Menu but service practically non-existent, despite it being rather quiet. Arrived and waited at bar, never asked for drinks whilst waiting. Taken to table but again never given chance to order drinks, managed to get attention of a waitress and order 4 drinks followed by food. Food arrived before drinks which had to be asked for a 3rd time. Wrong food order brought out meant 1 of us had to wait another 15 mins for food - No apology offered and made to feel like it was our fault. No - one bothered to check in at any time, but to be honest by the time we all got to eat we just wanted to get away. Needs massive improvement on service and some form of direction given to the staff.

I had a night at Courthouse Bolton and unfortunately i was met with extremely poor customer service by a bartender with the name of Adam. He gave the worst attitude towards me and my friends, which put a dampner on our night out. It was extremely poor and im unsure how he is still employed at this establishment. Furthermore, he was incompetent within his job, serving our drinks 40 minutes after we ordered, despite them being wrong! A lovely establishment, ruined by ignorant and rude staff members - Adam. I hope this issue is sorted, as i will not be returning and i will being telling friends and family not to bother with this place.

Went on a Friday night at around 7:30pm. Food was tasty and service was decent. But the thing that spoiled our evening was the volume of the music. The DJ was playing great music but for how many tables were dining we couldn’t hear each other talk. Even sat right next to each other we were yelling. I’m all for a party and loud music but volume should be lower for dinner service in the restaurant area. Would return for a drink but probably not for a dinner.

Ate here on Christmas Eve, post-refurbishment. Love the new menu with lots to choose from, large portions and tasty food. Good service and friendly staff. On this occasion I have to say the fish was awful, I don't think it was fresh and tasted a bit spicy and, luke warm in the middle. I don't think we will be eating here again.

Food was good with a variety of options available. An excellent range of drinks and cocktails were on offer - we loved the Flaming Zombie!! We had burgers and steaks - all were cooked to perfection. A wide variety of tasty Vegan options were also available. Pricing was very affordable.

This place has become so run down that it is almost a dive . My bench seat had a ripped cover .. there was no coffee ,as machine was broken . I asked for pepper and the pot had no plug in it so therefore no pepper . The ladies toilets were closed , so had to yes the disabled toilets. There was no mirror in them .. I asked to speak to management ,but none appeared .. as this is the only proper restaurant in town it is a disgrace , no wonder it was practically empty .

Had a meal here for my birthday on Saturday 18th November. The food was really good. They charged my family £40.00 for a £16.99 birthday cake from Costco. They were also overcharged for the food and some shots. They over charged by £40.00 and they have been emailed twice now. When my son was making a booking they replied straight away. So far my son has had no replies to his emails. Be careful when you go here. Check your bill very carefully before you pay it. We had a very large bill as there were 14 of us. So didn't notice the over charging until next day. They have said they will ring to sort out the overcharging and still waiting for it to happen. Definitely won't be going here again

Service was ok nothing special about the food but it was really ok, the pub itself is in need of a refurb and the prices are reasonable

I was here recently for bottomless brunch and I'll be honest I was fuming at paying £40 for burger OR fries and only a very small number of cocktails, however the burger came woth its own fries and the other fries where loaded, let me tell you there was plenty there! Very tasty, very good protion, hubby loved his burger. Disappointed with the few drinks on offer but we still made out moneys worth and they did keep the jugs coming. At first they loaded the jugs full to the brim with ice so we hardly got half a glass each but once we pulled em and asked for less they filled the jugs properly. Nice place, clean and friendly

The food was amazing! Couldn't fault a thing, great food and lovely service. We made the most of the lunch deal on a Sunday and couldn't have been happier! Lunch and a drink for £10 - and to notch quality! Would definitely recommend it to anybody!

I've never been to Bolton before, what a surprise. Went to the court house as it was the only place we could get a table for six at short notice. The menu is really good and really surprised us, you get great value for money. The burgers were great and the loaded fries were something else. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Please try the lamb loaded fries.......I'm about to pop! Will go back again 100%

Food was quite nice, but the service was a bit hit and miss (including forgetting the glasses for those with bottled water, not asking if we wanted any condiments and bringing us the wrong bill). But mostly, the noise in there was phenomenally loud and off putting. No chance to really hear the other people on our table, and the server couldn't really hear what we were ordering either. We had contemplated further drinks and desserts, but decided that we were done with shouting at each other.

We arrived, having pre-booked, and spoke to someone about our booking. They acknowledged us and then walked off, leaving us standing there. The bar staff said they were sorting the table, so we waited ... and waited ... until it became apparent we had been forgotten. They weren't rude, not in the least, simply forgetful, but very apologetic once they realised. Service after that was reasonably good. The food was fantastic; really nice. Absolutely loved the food. The atmosphere felt crowded and loud. We could barely hear each other when talking, and it felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant. Great food, and I'd go back for that, but the general ambience was not for me. Of course, this is purely personal ... just not my sort of place. (My daughter warned me it would be too trendy for me).

Delicious burger! Highly recommend. The place looks very nice and the bar-mans are nice. Good meat, good additives and very nice fries. The Service was rude and not nice. that was the only bad thing about this place but it's easy to fix. But the food is amazing. The best burger in Bolton.

I'm very fussy when it comes to both food and customer service, but I honestly have to say 100% excellent quality for both. Food is amazing and the staff customer service is spot on well done.

We had a table of 7 booked on a Saturday evening and from the minute we arrived until we left everything was perfect, servers where pleasant and helpful , food was amazing and plentiful, drinks superb, dj playing in the background . The food was better than we ever could have expected and we all had a small plate and a main with drink and average price was £25 per person for a town centre restaurant on a Saturday is superb value for money , pity I live a distance away because I'd be a very very frequent visitor thanks for making our rare family get together extra special

It was more of a nightclub than an eating place, but the food was amazing 👏 😋 and great prices, I would come back for that, but maybe with a smaller group and have food before going out for a night on the town 🍾🥂🍹🍸🍺

Come to the courthouse quite often with my husband,family and friends.went in this evening just to have a cocktail with my Grandson. We purchased our cocktail and my son was in with his friend having a bottomless brunch,they ask us to sit at the table with them while we finished our own cocktail. The manager came over and asked us to move and refused to allow my son to order any more drinks while I was sat at the rable with them, he did not allow us to explain that it was my son and we were moving on after drinking our own cocktail that we had purchased. Before he continued to demand we move.well me and my grandson did move and I expressed that my booking with a friend this coming weekend will no longer be honoured. My Grandson could not accept how rude he had spoken to us in front of everyone in the restaurant. Think I will no longer wish to spend my money in a establishment that treats its customers so rudely. You should be throughly ashamed. You was quick enough to take my money for the two cocktails I had purchased then thought you had the right to dictate to me that I could not greet my son or his friend.SHAME ON YOU.

Was happy with the size of loaded fries of peri peri chicken. But not with the meat itself. For the price I would expect chicken breast. The meat I got was boneless thigh on a good day 🤔. If you are paying a good price for your food , Then please put it on your menu what you are actually serving up. . Will visit again , but will be giving that dish a miss .

Lovely small plate selection. Although we did find ordering on line fro the table difficult. A lovely girl came to our rescue.

We now regard Courthouse as a regular dining restaurant and always enjoy the amazing choices on the menu. This week we ordered two small plates, Char Sui Pork Ribs and Asian Salad with Chicken pieces, great value at £15.00. We followed with Lamb Quesadillas with Sriracha sauce £13.00, all really well prepared and delicious flavours. We always have a bottle of the house Red wine and water with ice and lemon. The service is very good, friendly and we look forward to our next visit.

We had our works Xmas dinner here last year, 13 people. It was excellent quality and tasty, Restaurant quality. Great selection of beers. Well done guys

Visited this place many times over the years its had its ups and downs, but I've always enjoyed it.. has the best menu in bolton town centre atm..

Didn't eat, we only had drinks but unfortunately all the draft ale was off due to pipe work in the cellar, so my partner had a can of Neck Oil but he wasn't impressed, the can was tiny, 4.3% alcohol, sweet and fizzy. It wasn't a great atmosphere in the bar area as there were only 2 other groups of 3 people, thus was Saturday late afternoon so maybe it'll get busier in the evening.

No draft beer. Warm bottled beer. If you want to be a cocktail bar then say so.

The creamy garlic mushrooms on toasted ciabatta were really nice as a starter, and followed by prawn skewers as a main course were something different. Then a lovely chocolate sponge with custard as dessert. The custard came in a little jug and was nice and hot. Overall a good choice of menu items and great service.

Just had a lovely lunch here. Portion sizes are huge, and one of the best burgers I’ve had. Everything was really fresh and tasty. Staff great too, very friendly and efficient. Will be back 👍🏻

Shocking, was going to order food, waited for long island iced tea, you are supposed to taste the alcohol, when I asked at the bar, politely saying that we can't taste alcohol, was just fobbed off they said I can make it again but it would be the same! Nice decor but that's about it, £8.00 for a drink I expect to pay for what it says goes into it, not watered down alcohol

Don't really like to do negative posts but there was few plus points to our visit. Originally booked as pre show dinner for Marty Pellow which was cancelled last min. They had taken our card details and if we cancelled within 24hours of booking they would still charge us £20 for the table so thought we may as well go. The menu was strangely named which was quite off putting. BB Smells is not the most appetising of names!! We ordered 2 burgers that in fairness arrived very quickly and looked really impressive, sadly as we cut into them our delight was soon dampened. My was wagyu beef burger that had been pounded to death, topped with so much Stilton cheese that it wasn't melted but so sloppy it made it impossible to pick up. I had to eat the bread separately from the meat. My partner had a beyond meat burger that had also been battered into a thin strip and again sp much Stilton it made it impossible to eat. Service was OK but had to go to the bar to get bill and no offer for more drinks was made so we didn't have more than 1.

We went for food and it took 5 mins before we were noticed at the door and seated. We requested to move due to extremely loud and rowdy group of girls - no one came to move us for 15 mins and again no waitress came over to even take our order. We ended up just walking about. Not a nice atmosphere to have dinner in, avoid if you want to actually have a conversation with someone.

Fabulous food. Only issue there was 30 of us and they lost one tables food order. But otherwise couldn't fault it.

I used to love Courthouse for their food and cocktails but the prices have become ridiculous which is such a shame. The street food used to be something like 3 for £18 and now paying £10+ for just one plate feels like a joke. Also, very little veggie options on the menu...feels like some veggie items have been removed? Remember this is Bolton, not central Manchester.

Definitely being going back there again, my daughter and partner took us here for Mother's day, the food was excellent and plenty of it service was excellent, I cannot fault this place.

I asked the bar manager to get woods rum in and he said he would looking forward to that.👍
