Love this little place, food is always so enjoyable and freshly made, especially the homemade chilli, there is always delicious specials on. Love that they only take cash, keep it circulation. Cash is king!! The staff are always friendly and accommodating.

Spotted the Haven Cafe whilst in Sandwich. Had a couple of hours to kill and gave it a go. Sat down and then eventually saw a small notice that they only took cash. Who only takes cash nowadays?? PDQ machines are so cheap, less than £20 per month for retailers. So, left my table and walked to the bank for cash. Returned to find my table taken. Having sat there for 15 minutes (for a second time), still not served, not even for a coffee. Really poor service. Never again. Only go there if you have cash and are prepared to wait. Felt sorry for the young woman serving, she was rushed off her feet and was trying to cope. Not a complaint against her in any way.

A very enjoyable Sunday Roast consisting of turkey and gammon with a variety of vegetables, stuffing, a (great) Yorkshire and bonus "pig-in-blanket". It was freshly cooked and piping hot. Excellent value for money, thank you

This is OUR TOWN'S oldest running cafe, it's where the locals go... It's comfy atmosphere and good basic fry ups, sandwiches, classic greasy spoon fayre is all good 👍 plus there is cake and puddings on the dessert menu. .... I need a sausage sandwich now....🤔😁🤣

This cafe offers brilliant breakfasts, ranging from delicious Eggs Benedict to excellent fry-ups. And the lunchtime specials are excellent.

Great food at very respectable prices.

Perfect for a hearty breakfast at a good price. Laid back and freindly service. The only minor negative is the outside toilets. A little more regular maintenance needed a heating source might help.

Sunday 12/3/24, I had a regular breakfast with extra sausage and black pudding, mug of tea and toast, tasted amazing, well presented and lovely staff, would definitely go back and recommend to anyone reading this, you'll love it!

Lovely lady, quick service, good food

Best cooked breakfast I’ve had for a long time. Bit disappointed that fried bread wasn’t listed on the menu only to find that the eggs are served on perfectly cooked fried bread ! Would prefer streaky bacon given a choice but that’s just me ! Cash only but there’s an ATM just up the road

Excellent food, piping hot and very tasty . Great staff very friendly and hard working . Hope to visit again soon maybe for the lunch menu.

As soon as we entered at 3pm we were greeted with a very loud voice, we are closed,we don’t do food! We will do you a drink. The coffee was like dishwater and they only take cash!

We had two vege breakfasts with drinks, they do vegan breakfast too and have dairy free spread available. The breakfasts were cooked perfectly and at £8.00 each represents very good value for money. The cafe was clean and the staff friendly. Would recommend.

We were recommended here for some take away sandwiches by another local business. Staff were friendly, the place has a nice homely/nostalgic feeling. We sat and ate them in the lovely church yard near by. We will definitely come here again when we are next in town

Great little cafe in Sandwich with very down to earth menu and prices. We had the healthy breakfast but there are plenty of options to choose from. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cash only but cash machine nearby at the post office/Spar. Other meals and huge milkshakes are available through the day. Definitely recommended for hungry people.

Food was very good but one of the staff was not in a good mood which is not good for customers. The other ladies were nice.

Ok, really friendly welcome to start with by the two ladies. Table service - as soon as we sat down. Cash only, which I fully support. The best quiche I’ve had in years, fresh crispy and tasty salad, skin on fries. My wife had jacket with Tuna and again amazing salad and slaw on the side. Sadly she got dull up with just a half the potato so I had to dive in and save the day! Great prices, big portions, fresh food all served with a genuine smile. Will be back

Great place that seems frequented by locals. The food is good, the place pleasant, the service fast and courteous. We had breakfast and we were delighted.

Popped in today for lunch on a rainy day in Sandwich. It was 2pm and it was half full. We were left to wait and didn't t know if we should just choose our own table. One lady working there ignored us at first, and I asked if we could sit anywhere, to which she said yes. This particular waitress with short dark hair, was nothing but rude to people. we had ordered food and two teas. After watching her bring out other drinks and after 15 mins I asked if our teas were nearly ready. She looked at me as though I was something on our shoe, and said "yes I know" really sarcastically. And walked off. The same woman went on to put the closed sign up at 2.30pm despite saying it was open until 4pm. A couple tried to come in, and there was no apology they were closed, but she just pointed to the sign and walking off, said "closed". Another couple came and stood for 5 mins, and she just ignored them and kept walking past until they gave up and left. Upon coming to pay with a card, we were told cash only. I said I didn't know and she said "it's on the till, you need to find a cash machine". My friend went and found one in the rain, and we paid. The food was on apart from crunchy chips, but the atmosphere was so poor. I was not the only one to notice this lady and heard a couple of people complaining about her attitude. Will definitely not be returning

Amazing selection of breakfast and lovely friendly service. We were allowed to change some of the breakfast items to suit our taste. The staff could not have been nicer. There was a lovely family atmosphere and the food was well cooked and delicious.

The service was a tiny bit slow, but the waitresses were very helpful and kind. They take cash only which is a bit of a pain. The food we ordered was very nice but not very big portions. It was perfect lunch size food. The milkshake I ordered was not nice at all it was very gungy as if it had lots of slimy goo in it and it didn’t at all taste like banana. Maybe work on the milkshakes. Overall a nice place to eat.

Fantastic breakfast, food hot and tasty, served on warm plates. Staff were lovely and nothing too much trouble, also very reasonably priced.

Cash only, but a great menu, especially if you fancy a breakfast. It is a small and very popular cafe, so you might not always find a table free, but if you go and do some shopping and then return, you will normally find a table. The food is excellent quality and is cooked to order. Highly recommended.

Over all great, although the server was rushed off her feet!!! Food freshly cooked and well presented Be aware cash only for payment. No heating mared the visit though it was very cold.

Always a go-to place when out with the good lady and the kids. Service is outstanding, even if it is busy, you are greeted with a smile. The food is top quality 👌 I have picky children, the menu is great to choose from, including separate items (great for my two girls). I had creamy mushrooms on sour dough toast, 10/10. If you in or around Sandwich, pay this lovely little establishment a visit. You will not be disappointed

The food is tasty and great price. The team there are very helpful and even deliver to the other local businesses. Lots to choose from and quick service. Go every week and always very happy.

If you want good proper food in a nice clean environment with friendly staff then this is the place to go. It’s nothing fancy, serves good food at bloody good prices. We have been several times and never had any reason to moan. And that’s why when we come to Sandwich, we always come here!

What a cracking wee find! It was originally the milkshake sign that drew us in. Three meals later, we were stuffed, the baby destroyed most of the eggs florentine so she was content for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Will deffo remember this place as we venture down now and then. Thanks 🙂

Lovely friendly little place. We ordered 2 Panini and teas. The staff are so friendly and polite. And the panini's came with a nice little side salad with coleslaw and a generous serving of chips which were cooked lovely. Would definitely make a return visit. They also fell in love with my gonk which my partner had brought for me at a local charity Christmas fair. Gerome the gnome was a bit of a star. X

Excellent service, I have fussy children and they were happy to accommodate what they were trying to order. Nothing was too much trouble and they all had smiles on their faces. When we are in the area, we will definitely be coming again. 😊

Worst breakfast ever old mushrooms stewed tomatoes. They say korker sausage if they are then they are the 50% meat catering ones.

Great value good value food and dog friendly

Had breakfast Sunday morning for the first time at The Haven. Arrived to find a pleasant, clean environment, fresh decoration and friendly waitress. Catered for my husband who is coeliac and he had a treat which included unusually, hash brown, sausage and toast. No problem asking for gluten free option although a lot of places seem to treat this request with disdain. What a warm and welcoming experience, we shall return.....

Best full English in sandwich I wouldn't go any where else, always cooked to perfection staff are happy and polite

We were visiting Sandwich with our grandson and thought we would call into this cafe for lunch. Our grandson was enticed in by the big strawberry milkshake on the picture. We ordered our drinks and when the lady serving us returned to take our order, bearing in mind it was 11.40 was told no we are serving breakfast its not dinner time its not even ready . I am afraid this person was very abrupt in her attitude and when i said well sorry we do not want breakfast went straight into the kitchen and started to tittle tattle into i assume the managers ear. Now if this was the case you would have thought she would have said you only have 20 mins ill come back then. We were made to feel embarrassed as she said there are signs everywhere . Not inside and like the previous person i do not make a habit of reading all signs on the door. . When it came to pay it was sorry cash. We were made to feel embarrassed and a bit of a nuisance as my husband had to go out to a cash machine to get the money. Now curtesy would say when taking the drinks order oh its cash only or a sign on the table. Not when my husband said to her were does it say this to be told there are signs everywhere. We duly [aid up and left. I like Sandwich but this is one greasy spoon i will never visit again. I will stick to the other ones in sandwich from now on.

We visited this cafe at a lunch time. We noticed it was dog friendly and went inside. We didn’t read all the notices on the door, there were quite a few, we just entered as we were hungry. We ordered a snack and drinks. I asked for a strong tea and when it arrived the tea was very milky with the tea bag left in. Even letting the tea stew it was still too milky for me. I asked for another tea bag and the lady pulled a face at me and reluctantly got another tea bag. The snack was nice, although I didn’t enjoy it as I felt quite upset that the lady had pulled a face at me and obviously thought I was a nuisance. When I paid, they stated that it was cash only. This was done in a curt manner. We hadn’t noticed the sign on the door. I went back to the table and we managed to rustle up the right money. I paid and we left quite upset. I feel a bit of friendliness would be nice and also maybe if it’s new people visiting a quick mention of cash only when taking the order wouldn’t hurt and would alleviate the need for people to worry about finding the cash at the last minute. We realise the sign was there, but I’m sure many do not read all the signs when entering an establishment. Thankfully we didn’t need to leave and go to a cash machine. That would have been very embarrassing. We felt very awkward in front of the other customers, who it seems were mostly regulars.

Visited on Saturday and had the standard breakfast, wife had smashed avocado and our daughter bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich. We all really enjoyed our breakfast and the price great value. Nice coffee and friendly service also.

Fast friendly service with a solid no nonsense breakfast. Top marks for tinned tomatoes (fresh ones belong in salad) and the surprise fried bread which wasn’t mentioned on the menu but was delicious.

Great customer service, lovely setting and a fabulous breakfast, also offer gluten free which is great for me. What more could you ask for. Definitely will be recommending and revisiting.

Quaint little place, we had some sandwiches, they were lovely. The kitchen does close at certain times, so if you want a meal not a snack make sure you're there on time! The stuff is very polite and professional.
