Fantastic burger and fries. Only £14 for the dirty burger,double burger, home made pattie, cheese, jalapeño a d gerkin, bacon and lettuce. The best burger for miles. Highly recommended. Great selection of beers too Basil River

Lovely friendly pub had the carvery it was a bit warm not hot I would recommend using a different frozen Yorkshire pudding and a bit better stuffing

Beautiful beer garden with the stream running right through it. We came as a party of 9 and the food was well priced and tasty - everyone enjoyed it. We will be back!

Called in for a drink and snack of cheesy chips which we had in their garden very pleasant.

Come here a few times a year for a big family gathering to the extent the owners know and recognise the whole family. Always come for the carvery and it's always exceptional. A lovely small friendly pub with a great choice of drinks behind the bar. Been coming for years and we will continue to do so

If you want the traditional country pub with landlord and landlady that truely care about their customers then come here, proper home cooked Sunday just like mums, and the crumble bloody outstanding. We arelooking to move nearer. Hats off to all staff 👏

Booked for Mother’s Day carvery based on reviews and near family as I’m not local but glad we did. Five choices of meat and plenty of accompaniments. New management since July 2023 so ignore bad reviews before then! The food is traditional pub grub as it used to be, fish and chips, roast, sausage and mash, burgers etc. Honest, home cooked, tasty with good ingredients and reasonably priced. £20 for two courses. It’s not massive and it was full and the beer garden in the summer with a stream running through it looks promising. Car park at back too as lane it’s on at front is narrow. They also have a regular quiz, curry and steak nights and two course meal deal on a Thursday. Parents already planning to go back so would recommend if in area. Lovely walks too in area so would be great stop off if walking. Enjoy!

I've been going to The Fox since I was a teenager 40+ years ago so it holds a special place in my heart. Although I've now moved away from the area, it's always nice to pop in when I can. My most recent visit was typical: a great pint of well-kept ale, a delicious plate of ham, egg and chips and a lovely catch-up with the owners Steve and Alison. It's the perfect village pub if you ask me. Long may it continue!

Brilliant pub. We take my grandad and he absolutely loves it there. The staff are soo friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing. Thursdays are great value on the lunchtime food deal too. Highly recommend

A very nice pub with a good skittle alley. Enjoyed some games yesterday followed by an excellent carvery buffet. Would certainly recommend it.

First timers today, won't be the last. Had the French panini fries, bottle of wine and Revd James ale. About time you can go to a pub and not be massively overcharged. Panini was a bit over done but still happy with our first visit.

I love the fox. They have a great variety pr drinks. It's a great place to meet and and hang out woth friends , or make new friends!

A beautiful pub that that has a big garden . The garden contains seating,a small river and a skittle ally . The garden also has a small play park that has a fence to separate the play park and the pub garden. Inside they have photos of the local area and the seating is very good .over all i would rate the fox a 5\5

I was in need of a quiet yet classic public house, for a pastoral meeting with food. Ended up with game pie and a pint, and all in all a helpful meeting with a parishioner in need.

Have eaten at this pub a few times with family and relatives. We have always had a good meal . The carvery had a good selection of meats , pork, beef, chicken and lamb and also a vegetarian dish. There is also a good selection of ales and a nice cosy fireplace. Parking at the rear of the pub offers about 10-15 spaces, and there is a quaint little garden where the stream runs along the back up to the pub itself.

Friday Steak night is a must. Bargain £30 for 2 steaks & bottle of wine. Rump, gammon, cod or scampi. Delicious. 😋

Absolutely shocked at the manner in which me and my family have treated. On arrival we weren’t made to feel welcome, we actually felt like we were more of an inconvenience. We were seated and then told we could go up and get our food, which was mediocre at best. We were a large group of 10 adults and 2 children so we were split over 2 tables. After eating, one tables plates were collected, deserts options were chosen and off they went completely disregarding the second table. I left it 5 minutes and asked the man behind the bar in a very polite manner if we could look at the desert menu to which he replied “we’ll get to your table when we are ready.” I was extremely shocked to have been spoken to in such a manner. I then said to him our plates haven’t even been cleared yet, he replied with the same response in an even ruder tone. As a table we had decided not eat desert. The bloke left the bar and went into kitchen, a lady (and I use this word very loosely) came out to clear the plates and asked why we didn’t want desert as it was included in the price. I calmly explained we had decided not eat desert because of the manner we had been spoken to and that we would not be paying for some of the deserts. Anyway…the lady was extremely rude, sarcastic and was even shouting at me at some points saying we were the rudest family she had ever had in her pub. She lied about a conversation she had with a member of my family the previous day and then proceeded to take away the drinks that we had not yet finished. We would never go back there, it was clear we were not welcome from the start. The food was mediocre and the customer service is absolutely diabolical!!

Owners were rude and caused a scene and wouldn't recommend as food was not up to scratch.

Went in there today to have a meal with my family for my birthday and we was late and they didn't seem very happy about us being late we apologised that we were late , so we only had the option to have a carvery and nothing else which I didn't mind as the had chicken (over cooked), lamb (very lovey), pork (chewy), beef and everything else you have for a carvery when we finished our meal only half of the table was asked for desserts and half of the table was cleaned and not the other half so one of my family members asked for a dessert menu and the man behind the bar said that they will come to us when they was ready which was came out really rude so in the end half of us didn't have desserts and we was told that we still had to pay for 2 courses when half of us didn't eat dessert and we said that the half that didn't eat dessert shouldn't pay for the dessert only for the 1 course and then the woman (cook) there started being really rude to all of so we paid and left. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS PUB THEY ARE NOT VERY NICE PEOPLE STAY AWAY. Idont want to put any stars but have to

Had a very nice light lunch,wife had crispy duck spring rolls myself tried French panini. Both were very tasty. Staff were very helpful and polite. Give the Fox a try, you will enjoy it.

I was with some friends from India a week or so ago. We went for a walk along the White Cliffs, and then were ravenous for lunch. I had done some research, and saw that The Fox had several vegetarian options (two of us are vegetarians), which is not always the case in country pubs, though it's way better than it was 20 years ago. We had a delightful time in their beautiful garden. The food was very good. The service could not have been more friendly. Thank you for showing my friends what British hospitality used to be and still can be!

First,we were greeted with a friendly lady behind the bar, how nice to be greeted with a happy atmosphere. Go as group and play skittles, food great,Google the pub and view the menu,at value prices. Excellent, place for having fun playing old English skittles. Finally, a nice garden for those Summer days. We will definitely return.

I went to this pub with my sister who lives in the village, to plsy bingo for the first time in my life. I was surprised at the friendly atmosphere and the kindness shown by others customers, even to a novice bingo player! We had a lovely time, loads of lively banter and the chips we ate during the break were delicious. I would highly recommend this village pub to anyone!

The Fox Temple Ewell avoid this place, recently moved and was our local, dad had been in on his own quite a few times for a quiet drink and sat in the garden. Rung them on Sunday to ask to reschedule our meal booking to Wednesday as it’s gonna be loud in there and my dad was worried about it hurting his ears due to his sensitivity and tinnitus! Weather said it was due to rain so I’ll thought can’t sit outside. Never have I been spoke to like that by anyone before! Her response ‘do you know how many people I’ve turned away for today’ I apologised and said it can’t be helped dad has a life changing condition and some days are worse than others, today being a bad one. Her response ‘well you didn’t just wake up today and decide that, I won’t book you in for Wednesday as you’ll probably ring up and do the same thing ’ ended up with me screaming down the phone and then her hanging up. Never felt anger like that, I had to go pace up and down the garden.

Had lunch here today, landlord rude and unhelpful when asking about where to park. Food basic (roast), only meat, peas, carrots broccoli, yorkshires very hard. Puddings small portions. In our opinion over priced and landlord unwelcoming, although lady serving the carvery was very nice. First time we've tried, local residents but sadly won't be returning!!!

I stopped here on my way to completing a charity run. The landlord and barmaid were so welcoming. Polite, friendly and could not do enough to make me feel comfortable. The barmaid was so kind to donate to #teammiles... Will be back with the family to sample the good selection of ales. Thank you for your kindness.

Had a great time at the Quiz and Curry Night, held every Tuesday - and only £5!!! Fab curry (vegan option available), served with Naan and Poppadoms and chutney. Great hosts, great food, great service, great quiz and great value!

Me and my family went for the "pub quiz and curry" night last Tuesday and it was fantastic! We couldn't believe that it was only £5, the curry was delicious and they catered for vegans, and we got poppodoms and naan bread with it! the quiz was fun with lots of different rounds. We will definitely come back, hoping every Tuesday! and will pop in for more of the other evenings they have advertised. Such cute interior, really cosy and that classic old country pub feel - please don't ever modernise it inside! thanks :)

A friendly pub in a lovely village. The paninis and chips we had for lunch were tasty. Recommend coming here after visiting Kearsney Abbey gardens, it's only a 15 min stroll and well worth it.

Me and my husband booked a table here which went without any problem at all. It was curry night of which was delicious a chicken korma or a spicier beef curry i love curry but had steak totally fantastic! The landlady and landlord are lovely people will definitely be returning.

This is a nice local feel pub. They sell great pub food, served in reasonable quantity. A couple of ciders on draught that are not the usual brands. They also have a good selection of different lager as well. Certainly worth a visit if you want somewhere different, with a different choice of drinks from the norm. Don't expect anything other than good quality pub grub.

I really cannot understand these good reviews. Visited today as a family of four and the food is probably some of the poorest I have ever been served. Portions were child size, I believe the dried up mash potato was reconstituted or frozen, it was not proper mash, and the onion gravy was watery granules. At £15 this was shockingly bad value. Not what I was expecting at all going by the reviews of this country pub, very disappointed.

Really friendly atmosphere in this vintage, secret hideaway. Lovely garden, minimal parking. Food was good if not a little over-priced for a non-gastro pub. An expensive sausage and mash when they seemed to be ordinary sausages and the mash was not fresh...had a taste of powdered mash mix. Sorry.

Took the family for some lunch here yesterday, had a lovely experience. Really thoughtful planning has been done to ensure customers are kept safe. I had no concerns at all. Patio heaters and a new menu all get the thumbs-up, as do the freshly made paninis! YUM! Staff all happy, helpful, and friendly, and the ducks on the river just make it so picturesque. Would definitely recommend, and have already booked to come back for Sunday lunch. A lovely village pub with a fantastic laid back feel.

It's a nice classic pub that feels like a time that once was (in a good way) Set in the nice village of Temple Ewell with great surroundings. Beautiful Roast Dinners, Great Staff, Good Drinks and only 2 minutes away from my house what more would any growing lad want?

Popped down for the curry night and wondered why we hadn't done this before. Lovely food, brilliant value especially with the "eat out to help out" scheme. Very pleasant service and tables spaced out for government restrictions. Plenty of hand sanitizer around and one way system in place. We will definitely be back either for another curry night or the Sunday roast. Lovely evening.

Lovely pub with good outside space for the summer. Was very busy at lunchtime and you are epected to book. Food was basic but good value. Good selection of beers byt expensive for what they were. Barman needs to smile more - didnt feel that welcome.
