The Harvey in Swindon

Great place to go for food or just drinks. Been coming here for many years and as I don't live in Swindon. I think that tells it's own story! Great staff and always a good laugh in there.

Our Second Roast at the Harvey , great value for money, friendly service. You couldn't buy the ingredients, For the price charged

The staffing and food was very good, hit and delivered on time. The pub had a nice vibe about it and was busy. Had the Seniors menu, price and food was good value for money. Compared to the Merlin Drove Road the Harvey was far superior.

We had Sunday roast dinner and deserts and they were all really lovely and the staff were all really friendly and helpful

We went there for a festive lunch to find the table laid out for Christmas with crackers and sweets included. Food was good with great service.

We go here for our lunch club once a week, yesterday we had our Christmas Dinner. Wow what can I say it was absolutely fantastic. Food was cooked 100% perfect, All staff was amazing . Thank you all so much. Looming forward to 2024 for some more delicious meals.

Today eight of us enjoyed Christmas lunch at the Harvey. We arrived to a beautifully decorated table, with crackers, Christmas napkins and ornamental snowmen. As I am not a lover of a roast dinner, I opted for the sirloin steak, which was delicious, but friends who had the Christmas Turkey and all the trimmings had generous plates of food, and all said they enjoyed it. We weren’t rushed at all, and staff were cheerful and helpful. Honestly, I have not one complaint about today’s celebrations, and a big thank you to all concerned in catering for us today.

We popped in for lunch after shopping, it was rather busy but we found an empty table. When we ordered we was made aware that there was a wait. When the food arrived we was pleased with our choices. Very good value, hot and tasty and a wide variety to choose from. I am new to the area and will definitely be back.

I couldnt find fault with this pub. The food was reasonably priced and very good, the staff friendly and very attentive & the place was spotless.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here on Sunday evening. The food was excellent , cooked perfectly and such good value for money. The staff were really friendly , polite and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Will 100% return again if in the area and would thoroughly recommend to anyone .

Popped in with my aunt and uncle,couple of drinks,decided to order food,very nice it was,the service was amazing,always is.

We had a dinner just recently I had scampi garlic bread and mushi pees and she had southernfried chicken burger with bacon chips and onion rings was very valued for money and yet very delicious excellent service from all staff even though they were very busy waiting less then 10 minutes food served piping hot cooked to perfection as always when visited decent land lord Dennis who runs a respective business who employed excellent staff snd knowledge and they will always go above and beyond in there job to give great customer service satisfaction keep up the awesome work guys 👍

Great pub, landlord and staff are terrific, food is very tasty and value for money. Atmosphere was nice and pub generally busy, it’s a great place to eat and have a drink or two.

We only live 10 minutes away and pass this venue every other day going shopping in Asda nearby, yet have never been inside. We decided to book a table for our family on my birthday and what a nice surprise. Arriving at 1pm, we were welcomed by the pleasant manager and directed to our table. After ordering at the bar, we were surprised how quick the food was delivered , although they weren't that busy on a Saturday . All the food was hot and plenty of it ,no complaints at all . As the place filled up, the sweets we ordered took a little longer, but the Apple Pie slice was twice as large as shown on the menu photo!. This is a Greene King chain pub and there is a good selection of beers and ales and lagers . We will definitely be returning , Also it is easy to enter the building as there is no step if you are disabled in a wheel chair an d plenty of free car parking.

Service was very slow. I don't expect to wait over an hour for fish and chips. Yes.it was busy but not good enough. food was average with small portion

After reading so many 5 star reviews we had to try The Harvey .It was very busy on the Wednesday we visited ,good job I reserved a table . We were welcomed by the pleasant manager and directed to our table. After studying the menu we ordered a Steak and Ale pie £9.29 and a Chicken Tikka £8.49 . The food soon arrived even though it was busy . All the food was hot and plenty of it ,no complaints at all . My wife then wanted a sweet, coconut and jam sponge with custard £3.99 . Again first class .There is a good selection of beers and ales and lagers . We will definitely be returning , Also it is easy to enter the building as there is no step if you are disabled in a wheel chair .

Ten of us had lunch here today, and a splendid time was had by all. A three course Christmas lunch for £16.99 is amazing value, and no compromise on quality. The staff had laid a beautiful table with festive cloth, crackers snd napkins, and our meals were just as good. The staff are friendly, helpful and great fun. We were still at our table at 4:00pm, but no-one made us feel that we had outstayed our welcome. A really good experience.

The food is good with a nice selection at a treasonable price. I would recommend the hand battered cod and the mix of chicken strips. Everything is nice and very clean with the most perfect pint of cold Guinness. Well decorated and very sociably paid out. Keeping the best till last though I really do have to mention the staff, all of which are so polite and caring but are not overbearing at all. They really do care about their customers. Well worth a visit and easy access with large car parks for the local supermarket.

Amazing food pub selling meals that are outstanding value for money. Greene king beers that kept to perfection. The manager has a fantastic positive attitude. All the staff work well and are very friendly. Best food pub in West Swindon

I’ve never been to a pub where every single member of staff is amazing,friendly and attentive. We visit this pub weekly and have been for the last 2/3 years. Food is always great, the atmosphere is always buzzing and the staff make you feel so welcome. Great work, Dennis must be so proud to have a team like this.

Stopped here for lunch on the way home from a weekend away. The host was friendly and accommodating, the staff were patient with us, the food was good, the service was quick and there was a cat on the roof.

Visited with family and friends, amazing hospitality from the Manager and staff. Food was amazing. COVID restrictions managed amazingly. Customer service is excellent. We came here after a nice day in the park, having booked an outside table to be safer. The menu is standard decent pub stuff and we have eaten here many times. I have to say that this is the best venue for us for feeling at home, and now with this virus sweeping across the world we dont like crowded pubs who don't follow the rules. We must have tried most of the menu over the last couple of years, and never a bum meal, always comes quickly, always consistent. This time we were accompanied by the pub's black cat, who sat looking up at us smiling sweetly. I would like to congratulate the manager, Dennis, for his kind attention and the nice atmosphere created there. We don't live in Swindon any more but will be sure to return whenever in the area. Highly recommended.

Went to The Harvey on 5th July for birthday treat. Dennis the landlord explained all social distancing and procedures. Excellent food nice to be able to dine out.

We went out for a drink and a meal followoing the reopening of the Harvey. We received a friendly greeting at the door where the new arrangements were explained. We were shown to our table and the ordering App was explained. We were then able to order drinks and meals whcih were delivered quickly. the food was tasty and reasonable in price. The atmosphere in the pub was good with a low noise level despite football being on the screens. We were able to talk and enjoy the atmosphere. We have decided to return next week as we enjoyed the experience so much. Well done Harvey staff - a first class experience.

I was entering the Harvey on the first day of opening. I just wanted to say how helpful and informative the staff was. You can clearly see how they care about the customers safety. If green king see this. Dennis Jamie and the team are a massive credit to your team. I was Impressed with the signage and they way we was informed about what needed to happen. Food was good , 8oz steak with hunters topper was good but asked for medium rear and it was rear , peas were cold , chip and pepper corn source was nice,eggs were perfectly cooked Burger was perfectly cooked.The bar staff and manager was Very welcoming the place is a great place to come with friend and family,But I think it needs a bit more looking after and bring into the 21st century.Now the toilets could be something to look as the lady’s toilets were disgusting urine on the floor and on the seats.Table service would need some work very poor.Other tables were asked if they were okay and was food okay but not our table.Tables were sticky and could be cleaned properly not just with a water.

First time eating here. Very pleasant member of staff took my food order and said they’d get the food out to us ASAP. We didn’t have to wait long. All 3 main courses, steak, lasagne & gammon were well cooked and very enjoyable. The dirty crockery was collected promptly and we were asked if everything was OK with our meals. Will certainly visit again. The only negative was having to walk through a group of 4 smokers stood immediately outside the main door.

I have not visited this pub for a couple of years, I had a revisit to have a look. Well what a transformation, it used to be very quiet. Not any more it was really busy on a Friday night, lots of people eating and drinking. I will be back to taste the food soon.

This pub has friendly professional staff who clearly enjoy their work. Good reasonably priced food. Good range of beers. A few TVs dotted around so sports fans don't miss the latest event. Used regularly by home and visiting fans from the local ice hockey venue.

in Swindon for 2 days to visit son and went out for a quick meal, eventually found the Harvey HOT FOOD EXCELLENT and good value for money although the pub is a bit rough around the edges. Would definately recommend if you want a meal in not to posh surroundings

Crossing the pub's threshold and glimpsing at its interior might be good enough to convince one they are in the right place, be it for a night out or quick lunch break: it is spacious, pleasantly decorated, well laid out and comfortable. Getting to know the landlord and bar-staff, on the other hand, will only persuade them to re-visit. The professionalism and business acumen of the former, as well as effectiveness/efficiency of the latter, are conspicuous qualities that have propelled this Greene King establishment to commercial success. I have been there more than enough times to realise why it beats its rivals in the vicinity hands-down. This place will delight the palate of every ilk, from mere drinkers to epicures and sports fanatics. What one pays versus what they get makes the pub a great proposition and it therefore merits the highest of our awards.

Always a good shout to pop into the Harvey for some great food and drinks. Sports are always on, pool tables are available as well as quiz and game nights. Staff are welcoming and it's right next to the Link Centre where the Wildcats play Ice Hockey so it's always a great atmosphere on game night.

Quick visit on day off for a bite to eat. Excellent value for money _ great tasting lasagne. Service was very efficient, team members very engaging.

I have been more than once in September and the food was great with very yummy deserts. The quality of food at affordable prices means you can enjoy a meal out quite often. You know you can plan to take friends for a meal at the Harvey and they will enjoy it.

Visited today for a few ciders and to watch the Rugby World cup. Friendly bar staff as always and excellent service. The Harvey is an outstanding pub for a few drinks whether that be with friends, in a large group or alone. Also the food is great value for money here with lots of deals on the menu for example if u have a burger u can add a drink for £1. Best pub in the town!

Popped in for some pub grub and a pint and we weren’t disappointed. Great friendly welcome, and the food was hot and tasty. The website stated there was some entertainment in the form of an Elvis Tribute act. We mentioned this to the staff and Alex, one of the lovely bar staff was puzzled as she’d no knowledge of this event. LOL Well we all chuckled at this and enjoyed a good laugh, and she checked with her manager and both confirmed they knew nothing of “Elvis being in the building” at all. Well to our surprise we were given two free drinks on the house as way of compensation for our disappointment. Well we were blown away with the service and generosity of the staff in this local bar and restaurant.

Every time I’ve been there, the bar service has been great. All up until we meet the grey haired elder chap (compared to the rest) who is one rude wave of misery! I believe he is the manager (or at least he thinks he is) and he sucks the life out of every experience of being in there. God bless those (great) people who have to work with him. Get rid of him and you’ve got a perfect boozer.

As it was our wedding anniversary, we thought we would have a meal at the Harvey in view of the good reviews it has received on TripAdvisor recently.

A party of 14 for us went for lunch today and thought it was pretty damn good.

Thanks for a lovely meal and a couple of pints of old golden hen ale even if you did take the piss for asking for a jug.

The atmosphere at The Harvey was electric this weekend. Having both the Mens Singles final at Wimbledon and the Cricket World Cup final between England and New Zealand to watch. Dennis and the Team had both matches on the TV's at the same time so that everybody could watch their favorite. It was a great day out and you got 10% off your drinks as well. What more could you ask for.

Good food, great friendly and prompt service even though the place was packed for the women's world cup match.

Have been here before but what an evening Ladies World Cup England v Argentina amazing atmosphere every telly on the match. All the staff having fun whilst working. Football ends and straight over to the open golf no one asked it was just done. Two staff members need special praise Jo and Dennis lively and funny and well on the ball

Arrived at around midday to meet a group of friends. We all met at the bar and found a table. The bar staff were very friendly ordering and we sat down to wait for our meal. The food came in good time and I tucked into my mixed grill (it was delish)

Visited this venue to participate in a charity race night that i had seen advertised..

Come here every weekend during Swindon wildcats ice hockey season (great location next to the link centre). Come here a few times out of season too. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Great selection of food which caters for veggies and vegans (oads of choice). Great selection of alcohol, especially gin. Would highly recommend. Good for watching live sports too
