The Hare Inn in Babergh

Second visit here with family and it was amazing again. Such a friendly welcome, very clean and nicely spaced tables. Gluten free options are plentiful so it was difficult choosing but highly recommend the chicken in tarragon sauce. I had initially chosen the fish and chips but being a coeliac was informed that they use the same fryer for both batters and so to avoid cross contamination I chose the chicken instead. Really great to have such care and attention to detail…which was really appreciated. Highly recommend and wish everyone continued success.

We go back time and time again, The Hare delivers in every aspect, staff, drinks and the food is sensational. Pork Belly to die for. Sticky Toffee pud wow. . . All of us agreed the place is incredible. We went 3 times recently when we were back in LM for a month. . 10/10 . . We try to support all the restaurants in Melford when home, but some of them make it hard to return. The Hare is the furthest from our house, but the walk is well worth it. Awesome.

As always, delicious food and excellent service. We had the pork belly and slow roasted lamb shoulder with potato dauphinoise. For dessert we shared a sticky toffee pudding. Stuffed!

Had a lovely meal tonight at The Hare. The food is always great. Charlie our waitress was exceptional. Very attentive and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Very happy and smiling 😊 She was very good at knowing when to approach the table. Not rushing over but not leaving you to wait either. Timing was perfect. Atmosphere was good. Food here is really good. We live in the village and have been here quite a few times. Always enjoy the food. Plenty to choose from. Portions good. Frequenting here far too often Brilliant Sunday lunch - highly recommend the double cooked belly pork and side of cauliflower cheese. We ordered extra vegetables but didn’t need them really. I am not unknown to the "Hare" so know what to expect. My family took my wife and I to "The Hare" to celebrate "Mothers Day" and honestly I can say without fear of being corrected just how super the afternoon was. They treted us like Royalty, but I know that wasn't a specialty just for us, it is their norm. The food was simply a delight and their kitchen is beyond reproach. The staff were attentive and polite without being in your face. The ambiance was super, and couldn't have been better. We had a super afternoon there.

We have often driven past and wondered what the food was like. Well we stopped and had dinner the food was really good in a country pub setting. good service. We will definitely be coming back soon.

This is a great country pub with a great welcome as soon as we walked in....we had a comfortable table by the log burner and were quickly attended. The starters were very tasty and welcome....we were served by friendly attentive waiters . The main course of a juicy steak was beautifully cooked along with mushrooms, tomato and finely cut chips. Altogether a great experience and friendly staff with really well cooked and presented food ensures we will be back again very shortly to try their famous Sunday lunches.

Last night was our third visit to The Hare and on all occasions we have not been disappointed. Lovely food - the menu changes seasonally with fresh locally sourced ingredients- friendly efficient service and great value for money. We’ve already booked to go back in a couple of weeks.

A large group of us pre booked and pre ordered for lunch at this lovely local pub. Great atmosphere and decor, attentive and helpful staff and delicious food. I can’t recommend the belly pork highly enough but we all enjoyed our choices. Highly recommend

Me and my friends met for Sunday lunch, it was the first time we’ve tried the The hare Inn but was absolutely blown away by how lovely the food was! Everything was home made and the cheese cake😍 best cheese cake I’ve ever had!! Definitely will be back. Staff were absolutely lovely!!

This was our third Christmas Day at The Hare. The menu is sent out a few months in advance and we submitted our choices early December; everything sounded lovely and it was a struggle to decide what to have! We are a large party of 13 and everything arrived at the table piping hot and delicious. The food really was outstanding! Well done to the chefs and kitchen staff for sending everything out to such a high standard. The staff are super friendly, attentive and worked so hard to ensure everything ran smoothly. A huge well done to all the team.

We had our family Christmas meal here last night . The food, the service and the atmosphere was absolutely superb. There was 18 of us and our drinks orders were taken promptly, the tables were cleared quickly and all of our food was served together , still piping hot. There was a brilliant selection of choices on the Christmas menu and every single person said how delicious every single course was. We had a room of the restaurant to ourselves; we were able to move between tables in here and it was brilliant for the children who had games and presents for the table. We had the room for the whole night; it was really comfortable and easy. Every member of staff worked tirelessly to make sure we had a wonderful night. What a lovely evening, with delicious food in a gem of a pub. Thank you to all of the team who made our Christmas night really special ❤️

We recently had a lovely dinner here. In response to some previous reviews the room was nice and warm! Menu is very good both in terms of variety (it is not chips with everything btw) and pricing. Very good service from the staff and a good choice of lagers.

Like a lot of pubs the Hare Inn is more of a restaurant and destination now for a lunch or evening meal. Quite rightly so and this pub does it very well. A large good menu choice and the food we had was exceptional. I’d recommend the twice baked pork belly dish. We booked ahead and I think we needed to do so as it was very busy on a Saturday evening even though there are three dinning areas. Although busy servers were efficient, attentive and friendly. We had a very enjoyable meal and look forward to going there again.

Popped in for a quick pint, whilst partner went to the garden centre which is next door. Stood at the bar with my pint in the bar quite happy, even though there was a spare 2 person table free (with no reserve on it). 2 minutes later, a young lady behind the bar informed me loudly "just so you know, there are no seats inside for drinks only, but we have seats in the garden." (Pub is also quite empty at around 12.30pm, but will no doubt be getting busy soon). Me (a little bemused), that's fine. "I'm OK here at the bar." Basically, comment was totally unnecessary, and the meaning of it was that you're not sitting down inside the pub if you're just having a beer. Even though there were free tables (not set for lunch) in the bar. A bit of courtesy please.

Do not hesitate to come here. We had a table for 5, starters, main and pudding for all and every dish got a 5* rating. Service was prompt and friendly, fantastic atmosphere excellent value for money. Absolutely will return.

We are local and have not been here for a long time. Very pleasant lunch. The pub was bright and clean with a modern, tasteful decor. The two staff working were smart, pleasant, helpful and efficient. Heather was delightful and very good at her role We shared whitebait starter, this was crispy, hot and a good sized portion. Then we both had the fish pie. Firstly it was so lovely to find a fish pie without prawns in, so as an allergy sufferer I was able to have one of my favourite dishes. It did not disappoint. It was a good sized portion, I couldn’t finish mine. Full of fish and veg in a creamy sauce and topped with cheesy mash. Excellent value for money My only disappointment is the £1 I was charged for a splash of lime in my drink making my lime and tonic a hefty £3.80 - far too much for a small drink with no alcohol in. No wonder pubs struggle!
