A stones throw from our camp site this is a gorgeous cosy place to visit. We only had a small bite to eat but the roasties and gravy were great value, quite unique on a menu and bloody tasty! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The lady was also very welcoming of our Peggy the whippet who was greeted with a treat and a fuss. Well worth a visit, the carvery looked good, maybe next time. We highly recommend a visit if you’re passing.

The portion size , quality & choice of the food was fantastic. Highly recommend to all. Unable to find our booking that we made last August for a celebration meal. Booking could not be found so had to re-book. On the day after the meal asked for the bill, which after paying was not a complete amount. Reservation times put on table which you feel the you had to be gone by the times stated. Long wait to clear table for dessert. Not a very welcoming experience.

Tried to book by phone, unsuccessful on three attempts, so emailed a request this was acknowledged very quickly. However when we arrived, no booking, until I queried, then informed "oh yes it's there" Told the table number but no indication as to where the table was. Table not reserved or cutlery in situ. Very poor staff interaction from behind the bar. Generally a lack of information regarding the carvery and the menu. It was extremely busy and obviously very busy. The chef on the carvery was very pleasant to all his customers myself included. The food was very good and a good variety to choose from. Over all the experience was disappointing.

A dog-friendly, warmly light cozy establishment. I was not left wanting at the portion sizing, the food arrived: well presented, warm but not scolding, and in a timely manner. Staff were on it. Sole complaint is that the table had been mildly sticky on one side - which was quickly rectified by asking for a cloth to wipe it with - and the ambience felt a bit bustling (very normal for ANY food service establishment, the decor and ambience was merely something I subjectively didn't click with *e.g. a sign jokingly listing prices for which staff can 'lie to your wife about'if she comes looking for you at the bar - but this is culterally quite normalised*).

A great location with views looking south towards Sidmouth on a clear day, which on our visit was nice and sunny. We were glad to have booked a table as although an ordinary Monday the place was soon full of happy eaters. The carvery was 1st class on both the meats and choice of fresh Vegatables.

Terrible. By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The tall, weathered-faced angry looking woman who seemed to be in charge served me at the bar, already looking peeved, yes i then forgot my table number, went to look then came back, man she's huffing and puffing, tapping fingers, a 50 year old acting like a stroppy teenager. Finally transaction went through, she walked off not even offering a receipt, i had to overtly request it, she gave it reluctantly. Then the food, barely adequate, undercooked, overpriced. Very odd atmosphere, also young staff look clueless, all just standing around looking uninterested in working. Lazy staff. Terrible place. Avoid like the plague.

My family celebrated my parents Golden Wedding here & we were all blown away by the experience. Throughout various issues organising it, the venue helped us & bent over backwards to accommodate our changing wishes. On the day itself, we were amazed at the range & quality of the food arranged for the buffet, we still struggle to believe it was all freshly prepared in the kitchen, because at the price paid we were expecting about half the amount & nothing like the quality. This is NOT a normal pub, if they charged fair prices we’d have been happy paying double for what we got… The venue is clean, tidy, easily accessible for people of limited mobility, plentiful parking spaces & a great out door space for the kids. Next up, you will not find a better carvery dinner anywhere in Europe let alone UK, fact. I’ve looked. It’s amazing. Rounding the experience off are the amazing staff. These folks could easily be running a top hotel. From discussing plans right up to ensuring anyone wanting to take leftovers home had a tidy little box for it at closing time, they were all absolutely first class. Will definitely be returning & already looking forward to it.

We booked for the carvery and we thought we was booked on table 44. But when we got there we was told table 47 which was in a terrible draft. We asked the manager if we could move and was told ' NO ' sorry. So I told him to take us off the list as my wife has been out of hospital for week and half after heart operation. I went up to pay for our drinks and told the young lady behind the bar we was leaving because of the draft and she went out of her way to help us out. More so than the manager. The lady's name I didn't get but she's got 2 butterfly's on her top of her back on her shoulders. She should be praised and given the mangers job as I think he tried to stop her changing our table to the original table 44. Thank you so much to that lady. You made the stay more enjoyable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went for a carvery with my parents who are in their 80's. The food was lovely and cooked well. But the system for queueing was chaos. Everyone queueing by the door and people going in and out and people ordering drinks was not a nice process especially for my mum who has difficulty mobility . The staff were very busy and seemed stressed behind the bar. We went here as we had been previously many years ago. However £8 for a thin slice of tasteless bread and butter pudding is taking the 'mick' To serve that must have been an embarrassment for the waiter and more fool me for not sending it back to the smug kitchen that sent it out as a serving. Visited the Hare & Hounds today for a meal for the first time. There were 6 of us and we all had the carvery which we all enjoyed. There was a lot of choice of meats and vegetables and it was all good quality. But actually ordering our food was very chaotic and stressful, there was no orderly queue for just food and the bar was very busy and loud and people were just pushing in. If the pub sorted this out, it would be a more pleasant experience for their customers or even introducing an app where you could order and pay from your table! Some of the staff were friendly, but some seemed like they did not want to be there. The man who carved the meat was very friendly and helpful. The car park was full and it seems very popular!

Treated like a second class citizen in Hare and Hounds today. As part of a planned coach trip for my mums birthday the meal included was a carvery at Hare and Hounds, something we were looking forward to. There was a designated area for the coach party, but unfortunately this area was too small for the amount of people on the coach to sit together as families or couples. After finding a vacant table we were told we were NOT allowed to sit there, only in the designated area in any vacant seats even if it meant sitting with a stranger and not with our mum who’s birthday we were celebrating. There was absolutely no accommodating our situation, and we made to feel like a total inconvenience for asking if we could take a vacant table near the coach party. Thankfully the young waiter who brought over our drinks was very polite and professional, and the carvery was very tasty. Customer service training on meeting the needs of the customer and changing situations would be beneficial to avoid this happening again.

Have to say that I was disappointed with the quality of the vegetables. The roast potatoes were dried out and hard in texture. The other veg wasn't much better. Would appear that the carvery late in the afternoon isn't as good as at lunchtime. A real pity as on all the previous times we've visited, it's been excellent.

We sat in the garden for a drink, enjoying the amazing views while the kids let off steam in the large playground, which says it's suitable for children aged 3-12. The team were happy to seat us inside and told us when to time our carvery visit with the children's meals being served so we could all eat at the same time. The food was excellent and generous. We stayed for puddings and coffee, which were also glorious. The kids loved the ice cream selection, and the bread and butter pudding with clotted cream was a highlight! We went for the carvery and we'd actually booked a table. Upon entering the door there was a 10-minute standing line which didn't really have any proper direction and people were coming from all sides plus you were literally in the doorway so quite exposed to having to keep being moved and losing your place in the queue. After said 10 minutes we gave them the name of our booking and were told our table was number ** so, off with trundled all the way down the back of the pub which is quite large to be honest. After finding somebody sat at the table already we had to come all the way back to the bar and queue yet again which wasn't perfect as I'm disabled and I was struggling to stand for the 10 minutes let alone hobble to Just about the furthest table away only to be told a different table number... Which was as you guessed it despite my son asking for one closer especially to the carvery itself right back at the other side of the pub. If they had shown us to the table they could have resolve the seating issue immediately putting is on the next table instantly. If they booked it properly in the first place there wouldn't be somebody sat there at which point we also overheard another person saying excuse me this somebody sat at our table so we weren't the only ones. Ok so there's a mistake and that's fine but when a customer is clearly struggling and the same problem appears twice in 5 minutes maybe a manager or supervisor should have been informed and at the very least offered to servers from the table rather than having to go back to the bar to queue and pay for the car very only to be given The advice of sit at your table and wait until we call you for the carvery. Problem here is that we had dogs, I also use a walking stick so to carry a heavy plate from the opposite side of the pub was impossible for me and we couldn't all go at the same time as arranged by the pub because we couldn't leave the dogs on their own. No forethought or management of the problem. That being said the food was quite lovely apart from the rose potatoes and although costly by comparison to other places I've been it's prices are just above average for the region. Atmosphere is beautiful it's a very cosy pub with a very warm welcome and real fires and log burners abundant throughout. Beer, lagers and ciders were good (to be honest we'd almost finished the first drink before we were called up to the carvery) . The meat was excellent and the food wasn't too dry although the service itself could definitely have been quicker I suppose the system is in place to relieve the pressure and chaos that you sometimes get at carveries. It did feel very much like the customer was second to the process however. My visit particularly was spoilt by the walking backwards and forwards and being told we couldn't have a table nearer the bar and carvery because dogs weren't allowed in that bit even though a couple with two labradors had literally just got up from the table. The rest of my group enjoyed their food. My enjoyment was spoilt after the first 10 minutes queueing And the pain it cost was a huge distraction even though I do enjoy my food and a nice pint. I need to point out that these are my views and my views only not that of my family. Back to a positive note they did provide dog beds or blankets. At 6:45 on a Thursday evening with only two or three people standing at the carvery at anyone time They're clearly was no pressure for the staff to perform. Stuff were very friendly but only one person showed initiative out of the six or seven that I saw. It is worth the visit but I think you need to make sure you speak to somebody seen yet if you're making a booking and find out which table you're on before you go especially if you have a disability as there are different levels and steps and if I had gone with my wheelchair we would have had to wait an hour for a table that allowed dogs despite having booked in advance. If you're going to offer a booking service then use reserve tabs instead of allowing walk-ins to find their own (yours prob')

On holiday for a few days. Nice enough place. Below average meal. Fish and chips- fish over cooked. Houmous was horrible never had bad houmus, So didn’t eat it. ( told them it wasn’t very nice but didn’t take it off the bill) Chorizo tapas was beautiful. Mussels for tapas was plentiful but too salty. Ravioli was lovely. Had lemon tart and cherry cheesecake for deserts both lovely flavours but the lemon tart had soft pastry on the bottom. Cherry ice cream was fantastic. I feel that if you choose the right thing , you will enjoy your evening

So, I’m quite partial to a waffle both savoury and sweet and I happen to think I am a bit of an expert lol. I had the Biscoff Waffle and it was so freaking awesome that I nearly went back again that evening (even though I was so full and knew I wouldn’t have been able to eat two). The waffle is superb and the texture is on point, the topping was perfect and a good ratio to waffle. Guys whatever you are doing, keep doing it as what you produced was the best I’ve ever had and I will be back!!!
