Great choice on extensive menu,good food

Called on for a drink whilst in the area. A previous review about seating is spot on. The place was empty but every single table bar a couple which were already taken were set for diners. We asked where we could sit and were told the tiny little bench at the side was the only place to sit. It had no table so the only place to put your drink was the shelf behind. Very uncomfortable as it’s very shallow. Even the outdoor area under the canopy was fully set for diners and this was 4pm. One man sat at one of the few tables where people were already sat on his house listening out loud to sport and this was coupled with the background music from the pub. If we all did that, imagine the cacophony. We had planned to call again for something to eat but if this is an example of their customer service, I wouldn’t touch the place with a barge pole. We had one drink and left. I can’t recommend anything about this place at all other than to recommend you just don’t bother with it.

We popped here on the off chance and have to say, if we lived locally we would be here all the time! The staff were absolutely wonderful, the welcome was fantastic and the food was divine. Thank you so much for looking after us. Couple from Cambridgeshire.

Drove past and it was all lit up looking fantastic and traditional , it didn't dussapoint , we called in the next day for a drink and to book a table for dinner . Gorgeous old pub , outside space, outside covered space, indoor quirky and snug . Staff super friendly and the food is amazing. I give this delightful, traditional local village pub 120% out of 100.

Spent 2 nights at this lovely pub whilst visiting Banterfest folk festival and being too much of a wimp to camp! We were made to feel very welcome and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us in the restaurant despite being very busy. Food and service first class - fully recommend steak and fries! Ground floor room very comfortable - tea/coffee making equipment provided. Had not visited Lincolnshire before. Pretty part of the world and Lincoln itself well worth a visit. But don’t be fooled- it is not flat. If you want to visit the Cathedral park near the castle to avoid a climb up the aptly named ‘Steep Hill’!

We sat outside at the front of this pub and what a lovely setting it was with the church chiming every 15 minutes on a sunny lunchtime, the sirloin steak was cooked just as I asked, the chocolate brownie with ice cream was very tasty also. The ale wasn't to my taste i would have liked to see Pedigree or London pride on the pump but that's just my personal taste, we will return to this great country pub and would recommend it to others.

This is a real find. More of a gastro pub than somewhere to stop for a pint though the selection of beers and wines was good. We went on a whim for lunch and the patrons kindly fitted us in. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was great. Some really interesting dishes served elegantly and in style. The food itself was delicious. The veg crisp and fresh and served piping hot with real flavour. My wife's crispy salmon was perfectly cooked. I cant wait to see the evening menu. Thoroughly reccomend.

We had Sunday lunch there last week with family. My daughter and I had the roast beef, my wife the pie and my son in law the roast chicken. The table service was very good and the table/ambience excellent. So far as the food is concerned my wife and son in law were very pleased with their meals but the roast beef was very fatty, some 50% of my meat was lumpy fat. When I gave this feedback I was told that it depends on the joint the chef receives from the butcher.....! What at that price! Not acceptable to be honest. At £30 for two courses the price point is very high and I would have expected much better so far as the meat quality is concerned. At £8.95 the deserts are over priced. Overall disappointing and a pub I believe taking advantage of current times.

My partner and I came here on a Friday evening to celebrate his birthday. Was very busy when we arrived. The staff were attentive, happy and the service was exceptional. We both ordered steaks, he had porterhouse and I had sirloin. Both cooked to perfection. Came with crispy onion rings, homemade chips, flavourful mushroom and tomato. We will definitely be visiting again. Oh Forgot to mention the delicious dessert apple crumble my partner had and the vanilla custard i had to have some!!

We came here from a recommendation and the food was delicious. Massive portion sizes but really high quality. Everyone working there was lovely and such good food for the money. Will be coming back!! Thank you for a lovely evening

We came across The Hare and Hounds by chance whilst looking for somewhere for lunch on our way to Norfolk. What a find! The pub is beautiful from the pretty floral displays in the garden through to the tasteful bar and restaurant areas. The staff were very friendly and made us feel most welcome. There was a great selection of home cooked food on the menu and the dishes we chose were delicious. We would certainly recommend this place.

We have been several times for a meal out, the food is superb, excellent service and lovely atmosphere, worth travelling to.

Frequent flyer at the Hare and Hounds, Fulbeck. The food is always of an exceptional standard and the staff are a great team and make every occasion an absolute pleasure. Would highly recommend a trip to this fantastic pub in this picturesque cliff top village.

first visit, nice pub. staff polite, we were served by Vikki she was a lovely lady. drinks good .we did not have time to eat, but they seemed busy .i suppose it would be best to book meals.

I cannot rate The Hare and Hounds highly enough! We went as a party of 12, it's lovely inside, the food was fantastic and the staff could not have been more accommodating.

Visited here today for lunch. Had booked by email with a request for a table with good natural light because of my visual impairment. Arrived and greeted warmly and shown to our table. Spot on. Staff were very professional and ensured my additional needs were being met. Very impressed with the whole layout and decor. We all (4) had main courses and desserts. The food was of good quality, hot and well presented. Plates all cleaned. This is certainly somewhere that I would happily return to.

Food ok , disappointed that I had to send back my pudding as it was luke warm . Server looked suprised almost as though she didn't believe me . No apology for incident . Car parking at front of pub very tight trying to fit as many cars in as they could . Went on recommendation , Suppose things can vary .

Had an excellent lunch today - two of us, very impressed by the food and service. Will return for future meals and also interested in the accommodation - Fulbeck is a lovely little village to explore. Recommended.

After meeting my wife from work 4 of us that's 2 couples went here for a couple of drinks at 5 o clock yesterday afternoon. After we ordered and spent £23 on the round I asked where we could sit , all tables were empty but yes I agree set for food and booked later! Bar staff said sorry all booked, we had to sit outside in the cold, I went back in to request the heaters be switched on as they never offered this, when we left at 18 15 all tables apart from 2 were still empty. See my point? We spent £50 on yes drinks only and I get this place is more a restaurant than a pub, but if you don't want people in for just a drink please stop it!!! Bad customer service!!!

We had our Christmas day lunch here again and as like last year's was faultless and just perfect the food was delicious and so enjoyable we have rebooked again for next year we wouldn't go anywhere else worth the money staff are wonderful 😀

Absolutely wonderful service on a last minute booking for 8 people. Brilliant table and the owner/staff were extremely hospitable and chatty with us. Excellent food, great selection of drinks. Honestly faultless - will happily visit again if in the area.

Great pub...can't praise it highly enough! My go-to choice of accommodation when I visit Lincolnshire (frequently)with work. Nick, Zena and the rest of the staff always extend the warmest of welcomes, and always make my stays comfortable and pleasant, not least with the outstanding breakfast (the sausages are banging...no pun intended!) and the evening meals (full rack of ribs are compulsory, at least once every visit!). The location is also idyllic, with plenty of opportunities to go for a stroll in the country ...or jog (if you want to offset the ribs!!). Wholeheartedly recommend this traditional country pub/hotel.

Had a lovely lunch today. The food was fabulous. We've been a few times before and it's consistently good, it's always nice to pop into the craft centre for a browse too.

We stayed overnight the evening meal was spot on ten out of ten 👍 breakfast was a disaster 🤮 service 2out of 10 when we left to go outside there was 2 golden Labradors having a dump! One of them was very aggressive to us barking and showing it's teeth 😱😱 not good at all 👎

Wow, can't fault this place. Never had anything other than a meal that is 10 out of 10. Looking forward to the next meal already!

Good points: service was excellent, staff very welcoming and the pub was lovely decor very nice too. Bad points: starters were good we had halloumi & sweet chilli, garlic mushrooms which were great. Mains we had steak frites and chicken shnitzel, steak was good but the chicken was very dry I couldn’t eat it in the end, the chips were skin on fries that tasted no different to the ones I buy from aldi. The mains came out literally 5 mins after finishing starters I would of appreciated abit more of gap to let the starter settle. Overall we won’t be going back after paying £95 for 2 courses & 2 drinks each we left feeling abit deflated as it was no better than your usual pub chain restaurant.

Brilliant service, very lovely staff! Splendid tomato soup, rump steak was cooked very well and the chips were delicious. The chicken was very delightful. Price was a little steep but can’t fault the food or service.

Gem of a pub. Your quintessential ideal of a country pub in fact. Hearty food, tastefully and efficiently served. Bangers and mash with classic local fare. Great beer and on a sunny day the tables outside are glorious.

We met with some of our family for a lunch time meal. The location is great the ambience excellent. The range of meals is impressive. The staff are very efficient and obliging. The food was good. There were two drawbacks: 1. We were plagued with flies as we were eating. There were up to 5 flies at any one time. 2. The room had no windows open therefore we had no fresh air. This might have been arranged like that because even more flies might have come in. It’s such a pity that something so simple has not been controlled nor fixed. Surely there are remedies that could be utilised in the restaurant to cure this.

A great place to stay, relax, eat and drink - with one significant flaw... Let's start with the good - and there's lots of it. The location is beautiful with more countryside than you can shake a stick at. The food is exceptional. Beautifully cooked and presented. There is an excellent variety of drinks to choose from at the bar. The restaurant is a calm and lovely place to be. The outside space is also relaxing and has covered and uncovered seating areas. The staff were all exceptional - especially Christian in the restaurant. All making our stay as good as it can be. So what's the significant flaw?... The room we had was on the first floor and had been crammed into a roof space originally inhabited by either hobbits or borrowers. The eaves make walking around the room a constant crouch, the shower cannot be used if you are over 5' in height and do not have a crash helmet and the toilet, built under the slope, is impossible to stand at and use with any accuracy if you are a man over 5' 10". Ask for a ground floor room if you are over 5' in height!

Our 3rd visit to this lovely country pub / restaurant, we haven’t been since the pandemic however the standards are just as good if not better than they used to be, staff are super friendly and the quality of the food is second to none, it was a hot day when we visited so sat inside but there is a really nice outdoor seating area. Keep up the good work we will be back.

Starter - Hummus. Probably the blandest hummus I have ever eaten. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad just completely tasteless. Olives nice, bread aplenty. Main - Sadly, I do not like chips which is often a difficulty when eating a _________ and chips meal. In the absence of sweet potato fries, I asked to swap for onion rings. It arrived with three lonely onion rings. I'm not sure anyone can consider this as a reasonable "swap". Despite a very tasty burger, at £17.00 for this main, its hard not to feel short changed. I would have preferred the staff to advise that a swap was not available and then I would have picked an alternative dish from the menu (without chips) Dessert - the highlight of the night, real tasty. No complaints. Positives - the beer was good and the staff were friendly. That said, I wouldn't consider my visit anymore than just below average. Despite coming highly recommended, I wouldn't rush to return.

Only went for food which was lovely. Can say about the hotel part. But the bar and food area is nice and clean and staff were nice and helpful.

Called here on a whim for lunch. It is a pub that is well known to us. The staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming. The pub itself is really nicely presented, with outside eating areas. We sat outside today. Had a large New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and a pint of Peroni, £16.25, so not too far out of line with other pubs in the area. I ordered the Haddock and chips with scrummy mushy peas, £17.95. My wife had the 10oz rump steak, £25.95 with peppercorn sauce, £4.95. Now the food was absolutely lovely and the portion for the F&C was large, had to bring half the fish home for the dogs!! The one reason this is a 4 and not a 5 (it is really a 4.6/7) is the cost. I just felt the steak is £3/5 overpriced when compared to a steak restaurant in Grantham and the peppercorn sauce is at least £2 over what I would normally consider acceptable. Having said that, I reiterate the staff, atmosphere and food are all very good. Highly recommended.

We are lucky enough to live nearby and whenever friends and family visit we make sure to bring them here to experience the amazing food and staff! We have pretty much tried everything on the menu! The chicken and dauphinois potato my favourite! Very difficult to not choose it every time but the pie, the fish, the ribs (I had full rack!), lamb burger, schnitzel are all winners too. We would normally share a pudding and the apple crumble is amazing!

Didn't start overnight this time, but have before. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food is excellent, I have eaten here several times and never been disappointed with the nosh. In a lovely village, with a stroll around.

The food is fantastic, the staff are attentive and overall the restaurant is excellent. Sunday dinner is always popular, and for good reason. The food is great, the portions are ample and service from staff is higher than you’d ever expect at a local village pub.

Me and my partner came as recommended by friends. We were welcomed nicely and the bar area was cosy. There was no music playing so the only noise was tables speaking or the staff chatting. Our starter came out very fast, however it was something I would expect the quality’s of a Wetherspoons. Our mains came out 3 minutes after our starter plate had been taken. The table behind us were being rushed to order desserts straight after their main plates had been taken- obviously because the kitchen was closing. The chips tasted like they were frozen from the supermarket, the salad was bland and nothing tasty about it, it had no dressing. The burgers were tiny compared to the size of the bread., and again nothing tasty about it. The layout and the taste of the food was not what we were expecting, especially £20 for a main course each. The food was very beige and seeing the food other tables ordered confirmed there was not much going on. Very disappointing to be recommended somewhere so ‘lovely’ where the food was not worth the price. We will not be returning or recommending.

Went for a lovely Sunday roast. Great selection of food, including a couple of options for kids. Deserts were also fab. Interior is lovely and staff were great. A couple of cask beers available as well. Also went for a little stroll around the picturesque village. Would definitely recommend and will be returning when back in the area.

Absolutely love this place, from the moment we arrived we were made most welcome. Our room had all the requirements for a comfortable stay. The food was excellent, staff polite, helpful and friendly. Lovely courtyard to sit and have pre dinner drinks. Very busy place, once more nothing too much trouble very hospitable. Loved John and Dave resident labradors. Hopefully we will return (soon).

Exactly the same as the previous review. Overpriced and underwhelming. Steak over cooked. Lamb burger very plain and uninspiring. Salmon - very small piece for the price charged. Apple crumble didn't even look as though it had been baked. Disappointing.

Steak was well done when we ordered Medium rare. Lamb burger came in a old plain white bun from a supermarket. Overall quite disappointed considering the price.
