Had the roast turkey wife had the beef ..one word exceptional ..I was sad when I had finished , so ordered the crumble as did my wife ..again fabulous ..I have only had it better still hungry as it did burst the button on my trousers !!!

A lovely evening, with excellent food and charming knowledgeable staff. My friends had the hake and we had the mussels and the pie, all delicious. Although the weather was horrible there were enough customers to make a nice atmosphere. We are locals and visit quite often and always find it a good experience. The only thing missing is a loyalty discount card!!

My 3rd time visiting. Pre ordered very slow service. No table service for drinks, steak was lovely but on the small size. But the sticky toffee was amazing. Would like to visit during the summer to enjoy the views.

Visited as a table of four (plus dog!) for lunch. Excellent friendly service from the staff - and really nice food. In our group, the highlights were the blue cheese and truffle burgers, while the brie tart and fish and chips were also appreciated. We will be back again.

Had a lovely meal at the Hare and Hounds! The food was excellent, and the service was equally impressive. Molly, our waitress, was especially attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. A fantastic experience overall – highly recommend!

The place was busy and lots of locals. So when I booked Christmas Dinner 2 months in advance for 6 people, I wouldn't expect to be put in the middle of the bar (very busy flow and hustle and bustle). I paid a considerable amount of money for. When we made an enquiry the manager stipulated they were chosen by the other customers. So this was a very poor as I booked it through their website. Too many bookings?? I placed order for desserts that they stated they did not even have on their menu? Very confused by this. I showed them my email sent from them? Then the desserts that were correct, had no berries alongside the chocolate dessert? Which I was looking forward to. I should of had chocolate and coffees at the end, but I didn't receive this. I didn't even ask, by this time we all just wanted to leave. I had paid in advance for this meal and then they try to charge me upon leaving. But again showed them the email. Overall experience wasn't great, the food was okay. Christmas Main meal was the best part. I was driving and there wasn't any alcohol free options for a wine or cava. I could let this go if the rest of my experience was better. This was the first time of doing Christmas Dinner in a restaurant. I'm not sure if I will do it again.

Loved our meal at the Hare and Hounds. We were there for a birthday meal on NYE and it was faultless. Food and drinks were exceptional and Brad was thoughtful, funny and engaging. He’s a real asset to the team. Will definitely be back and thanks to everyone!

We were a group of 4 adults + 1 child and were greeted by staff immediately on arrival and served by a very friendly, efficient lady. We had varied choices for our meals and were very pleased with all of them. Had a table by the window and so were able to enjoy the glorious view (despite very grey weather). This was particularly pleasing as three members of our party live abroad and very much appreciated the scenery. Only slight disappointment was the rather heavy sponge in the sticky toffee pudding. Have come here a number of times in the past and have always been very happy with the experience. Many thanks to all concerned.

Had 2 meals there over a weekend with a large group of 12 including children. They were superb from start to finish, with a great welcome, quick and efficient service for such a large group, and accommodated last minute changes to our order. Choice of food and drinks was excellent, and the food was top quality, good portion sizes and delicious. Really helped made our stay welcome and would definitely go back in the future when near Bath.

We had a lovely family meal at the hare and hound in bath today .Everything was super. It was busy but everything went well. Super roasts, great service from Molly and what a great venue. We will Definately be back .

Great Christmas Day meal here - freshly cooked, well organised and very cheerful staff made it a lovely experience!

Unfortunately, this wasn't a pleasant experience. Booked for Christmas Day several weeks ago (October) and sent across pre-order as requested. The starters got mixed up and ended up not eating together, the flatbread that was meant to be served on arrival (which we were advised by a member of staff they would go request it as soon as we were seated) didn't turn up initially and after reminded the staff member, it arrived with the starters. The main meal took over an hour to come out, I requested for our 2 year old meal to come out as soon as possible as having to wait for so long. This eventually came out, approx 20 minutes after requesting, and the wrong meal came out. When eventually our mains came out, the roast potatoes were overcooked, the Brussel sprouts were undercooked, the cauliflower cheese was just mush. The meal was terrible except the turkey. When discussing with the staff although they apologised, it didn't feel sincere and felt that we were to blame because we booked to eat out on a busy day. We booked a 12pm seating to cater for our toddler and avoid the main rush but they are unable to cater for 'busy' days. No refund has been given although was advised the children's meal would be refunded. Very disappointed as had high expectations after previously coming here with positive experiences.

We had our work's Christmas party here and it was excellent from start to finish. We received a very warm welcome from manager Lauren, and Molly and Nigel her staff were lovely. Service was quick and efficient, the food was very nicely presented and really yummy! We all really enjoyed the experience and will definitely return. Thank you Lauren and team from the gang at Bath Spa University!!

4 adults and 1 child booked in for a pre-ordered Christmas lunch 12 noon til 2pm. We arrived promptly and were shown to our table, taking some drinks with us. We ordered a bottle of wine and were told that our garlic bread would arrive soon. About 30 minutes later some starters were brought out, but they weren't for our table as there were more of them than us. We waited another 15 minutes and then the garlic bread and starters turned up at the same time. After we'd eaten them, they cleared the plates and said our cleansing plate (grapefruit sorbet) would be out soon. We waited another 15 minutes before it arrived. Again, the plates were cleared and we were told, once again, that the main course would be out soon. Half an hour later we were still waiting. As the young child hadn't had anything to eat so far, we asked if they could at least bring their's out. It wasn't what had been pre-ordered, but we didn't have time to wait for another meal to be cooked. The adults' meal eventually arrived with over cooked potatoes, just cooked parsnips and a few measly carrots. 10 minutes later rock hard sprouts and a mushy cauliflower cheese arrived. After bringing all of this to the staff's attention, they said "hospitality is always difficult at this time of the year". They did offer to refund the child's meal (not had as yet) and didn't charge for the drinks. Needless to say, at that point we'd had enough and didn't stay for our desserts. The funniest thing was that their poster for the Christmas meal said "make it a memorable occasion". It certainly was that!!!

Booked a table here on the 23rd Dec, met with old friends, there were 4 of us in total. Had a lovely welcome from staff as we arrived, then during the evening they were chatty with us too, professional, attentive, engaging and nothing was too much bother. We were served by Freya, so a shout out to her for being such a star in particular. All our food came quickly from the kitchen, everything piping hot, delicious all round. We ordered 2 beef burgers, a veggie burger and a pie. The veggie burger according to my girlfriend was the best she's ever had. All meals were super tasty and cooked with skill and care. It's so obvious that the whole team work well together and genuinely care about customers' experiences. A rare find these days. Well done to everyone as you are doing it right. Keep up the good work and I hope you all had a nice Christmas (and didn't work too hard). Also, I'd like to add that the view over Bath from this venue during the day is fantastic. Plus you can visit via Newbridge without having to go through the Low Emission Zone, saving a few coins!

Manically busy but the staff were all over it. No long waits for any part of the order and friendly smiling faces on top. I don’t know how they do it. Great food too

Really cosy place to shelter from the storm this weekend - open fire, mulled wine, delicious food. We had a few starters/ small plates to share. The pheasant salad and mushroom risotto were especially tasty. Mulled wine could have been a little hotter to keep us warmer for longer

Another lovely meal at the hare and hounds. Staff were kind and attentive with my uncle who has dementia. Great food as always, and stunning views, even on a winters day.

Lovely pub with friendly staff and stunning views. There is good choice of food and lots of gluten free options for those that need it. Molly was a excellent host and very helpful Recommended.

We just moved to the area and thought we would try this out and was amazed. Food was delicious service was outstanding and there was also a solo artist singing which we enjoyed. Just might have found our local.

We had Sunday roasts. Excellent food, the staff were lovely but the service was really slow. Almost two hours for two courses. The drinks were brought fairly promptly but our main course was almost an hour. It then took ages for the desert menus to be brought to us. It was very noisy in there, hence the 3 stars for atmosphere. Not an experience to be repeated in our opinion, unfortunately.

Really delicious food but the service was not great at all. We dined on a Friday evening when the restaurant wasn't that busy. We had to ask to order drinks, our food was on the pass for a while before it was delivered, not enough staff 😪

Really nice place, very good food, but too few staff on the day we were there - and it was busy. Not the staff’s fault at all. And probably not the owners fault either; staffing is a real problem for restaurants etc., I think, and I guess particularly so in a busy place like Bath. We all need more waiters!

Took the family for a birthday sunday lunch but we were quite disappointed overall. We were seated at 1.15 and the food arrived 90 minutes later - 4 of us ordered pies - 30 mins after ordering they said they only had 2 pies so we chose something else - some time later they then said they had miscalculated and had only one pie! The food was fairly average - small portions and cold plates. So overall not worth the money and we really didn’t enjoy the meal.

I booked a table as my Birthday meal for my family on Saturday 2nd Nov. The service was extremely slow. Food was average and by husband was sick that evening from possibly scallops not cooked correctly. We were all disappointed

We booked in advance by a wk and had friends visiting so we're keen to show them the fab view. In the past, I've eaten in the conservatory or the areas where we could enjoy the lovely view of Bath. Unfortunately we were given a table road side which was a squeeze being in the window area. After drinks & before our food arrived we moved to an adjoining table which had more room. The food was lovely, we had Sunday roast but neither chicken or lamb were on the menu..lamb explained the waitress was too costly at the moment..but chicken?! Still an enjoyable meal but perhaps when booking you need to ask for a specific area to sit?

Perfect location with amazing views. Waiter took a bit long to take our order after we were seated but after that, service was excellent. Food was delicious and arrived quickly, steak frites was a bit overcooked but still tasty. Warm and friendly ambience as well.

Lunch today,sat in conservatory..3 of us all had flat iron steaks, one medium one well done and one rare. All excellent. Good wines. Great service.

High prices, stingy portions and variable quality. Simple things like a roast potato not even done well. A beautiful setting. Lovely staff. But at the end of the day, it's about the food.

Came on a Sunday. Good food, though not anything extremely special. The meat was of good quality, and the service was great. The waiting time wasn't bad at all, and when they made a mistake in the order, they were quick to change it. Definitely is pricey though portion size is good. The desserts were great, the ice cream was of high quality, though the sticky toffee pudding was not to my liking, felt a bit bitter from being overcooked. Would recommend.

A really disappointing experience, unfortunately the staff were rude and unwelcoming. It was a busy Saturday however we were made to feel that our service wasn’t wanted and that it was an inconvenience us being there. Hopefully just a bad day, maybe we will come back on a less stressful day.

Updated review : It's been 5 years since I've been here in it's heyday. Now it's tired, the toilets stunk and the only reedming quality was the location. When we came we were told all the tables next to the window were reserved and this isn't the first time we've been told that in the morning. I sat there and watched and for a whole hour we were there no one turned up for these supposedly 'reserved' tables. Our waitress served us as if we were a piece of toilet paper stuck on someone's foot. I do not know if she had an issue with us as we weren't speaking English but I would hope a place like this was inclusive.

Lovely pub. Quality food, nice service, and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It's not too expensive for what one gets. It is a really nice place to stop for some food or a drink on one's way home, or after work.

Went for a Sunday roast, the food was phenomenal. I ordered the veggie tart and it was a little too sweet for me personally. My mother in law had the beef and thoroughly enjoyed it whilst my partner had the vegan wellington. We will definitely be back, the views are breathtaking

Really nice pub with great food! We were in the annex/conservatory bit which was a bit chilly but also I hadnt really dressed for the weather. The staff were lovely. Great views!

Stopped for bacon sandwich with extra bacon and coffee. Just short of £15 for 3 pieces of hard over cooked extremely greasy streaky bacon on sourdough bread that i can only assume was stale as they toasted it to within an inch of its life. The crust was burnt and harder than rock. The saving grace was the fat off the extra greasy bacon softened the centre of the sandwich to a level that was soft enough to eat. It would have also been nice to have it with the coffee, not 30 minutes later. Should have waited the 30 minutes that it took to over cook 3 pieces of streaky bacon and cremate two pieces of sourdough and had a full english at the Fairfield Arms. Lesson learnt.

Meeting friends with a table in the window with lovely view over the valley made this a most enjoyable occasion

I had an amazing dinner with my friend here. The food is outstanding. We had mussels as starter, laksa and aubergines for main. Each sauce has its rich, distinctive flavour. The ingredients are so fresh. It definitely is the highlight of our trip. Very friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. Can't recommend it high enough.

This is a very lovely restaurant located at Bath. Beautiful interior plus dog friendly. Food is amazing. Would like to have another visit to try more.

We had dinner here tonight with friends and were served by mungo and Brad who were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Amazing drinks from the bar by John too. Great value for money, fantastic food!!

Two years ago had one of the best meals of my life here. Now it is unfortunately, part of a chain of pubs with the same boring, mass produced and poorly done food, under the name of Green King. The only thing to recommend it now is the view.

Our first time in Bath and we’re so glad we ended the day here last bank holiday! Firstly greeted with the warmest welcome from pretty much all the staff, as if we were locals. We ordered the fish and chips with the chip shop special I think it’s called. Portions were smaller than expected but appreciated the presentation, service and overall atmosphere -truly beautiful with lovely vibes. Finished with the blood orange sorbet which was the best sorbet we’ve had. Would definitely come again to maybe try the stonebake pizza’s downstairs, thankyou again for all your warmth and amazing hospitality!

Had a family meal here for a party of ten - we pre-ordered which helped - brisk but friendly service, relaxed atmosphere generally and a successful event. Minor quibble is that there are three steps down to the 'accessible' toilet...

We stopped here on Thursday for a quick lunch and we loved our previous occations here too. Delicious food, good ambience the service is particularly amazing. You can clearly see the staff are happy here and smiley with being attentive all the time. Olivia and Zoe was running the show and they were brilliant. Can't wait to be back. Outstanding roast, probably the best we have ever had! Highly recommended. The location is excellent and the views are world class.

Came here on a Sunday evening (after a long cycle) The team were great and squeezed us in with a great view despite us just walking up on a busy evening, and the burgers we had were top quality. The whole place struck a great balance being well turned-out without being stuffy. Would definitely return!

Meeting up with my family, there were 14 of us travelling from Cornwall, Devon, Tewkesbury and Sutton Coldfield, including 2 children and a baby. The Hare and Hounds was a great find on the map that meant we could all travel and meet up for the first time in years. We were there for Sunday Lunch, being given an indoor area to ourselves so that we were able to enjoy the afternoon in privacy. The booking and pre-ordering was easy, the detail to allergies/intolerances impeccable, and then when the food arrived, well it was all amazing, the mains and desserts were all delicious. We were extremely looked after on the day by Simon and James, who couldn't have done enough for us, we could see the place was busy so for making us feel important, I thank you. After we had eaten we could have stayed inside for longer, but we decided to make the most of the weather and the stunning views from the garden and sat on the terracing outside and still the great service continued, with coffees and drinks. We all had such a wonderful day. Thank you all so much for making our family reunion a day to remember, we will certainly be seeing you again, best wishes, Pam Rhodes and family.

Long time visitor to the Hare and Hounds. It's starting to look very tired, and the bathrooms are well overdue a refurbishment. It puts me off eating here. The views are still worth a trip for a scenic pint.

Went for lunch with friends. Great views over the countryside from the dining rooms. The food was good. Fish was highlighted on the menu (the pub is Cornish owned) but there was plenty on there for those of our party not so keen on fish. I particularly enjoyed the crab linguini. The service was excellent, the staff helpful and friendly.

Well that was disappointing, went for a late lunch, the dinning area was cold and I had to shut the door for them. The server who I assume was new was bright and tried hard. Unfortunately whilst it's a quite small menu, they didn't have all of it available. I was also very surprised that a pub restaurant owned by a brewery only had one ale available and this wasn't one of their own. We pressed on, I ordered the sourdough rolls to munch whilst we waited, they had patently been microwaved when they eventually turned up and awful. I had the steak which was well prepared and arrived cooked as requested, the accompanying fries tasted liked they'd been cooked several hours before and were like eating straw. Won't be doing that again

A fantastic location with wonderful views. However, whilst the staff were friendly and cheerful the food let the experience down. I think mediocre would be generous. I believe the eatery has been taken over as the previous evenings we have visited it was somewhat more upmarket.

We were greeted & served by lovely staff. I had the scotch egg & fennel and orange salad with a red wine. My husband had fish & chips and a beer. Delicious 😋

Beautiful location. Lovely view from our requested table by the window. Efficient and thoughtful service (one of our party was 98 - and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate her somewhat high-maintenance needs!) My only quibble was with my crab linguine - quite a small portion for £23.

First time here. Booked for Sunday lunch. My husband and I both had roast pork. Food was okay but not great. My meal was warm at best. Potatoes seemed reheated and extremely hard on the outside, almost too hard to cut in to. Pork was advertised with crackling but not crispy, just chewy. Not sure I would recommend or go back. View lovely. Service random but fine.

Visited the Hare + Hounds once again on a trip home to visit family from Sydney. Babs and her team do not disappoint! Wonderful, genuine friendly service, fabulous food and presentation, countryside views breathtaking, atmosphere warm and welcoming and love the fact dogs are welcome too. What's not to love? 100% Fabulous!!

Great view, location and atmosphere for a pint. But be careful expecting food: they close the outdoor pizza spot when they feel like it “when it gets cold”. In this case that was at 6:43pm on a bank holiday when I’m stood in a Tshirt. Indoors they have loads of tables free but don’t have the capacity to serve them food. Overall feels like an expensive pub with great potential, but hasn’t yet worked out customer service is more than just being polite but also about delivering a service.

We popped in for tea on Monday the staff were so helpful we got the last table. Food was amazing, beer wonderfull. Couldnt leave had to have a couple of pints the managers head chef and bar staff were amazing. Proper pub! Best pub!

It was OK overall... a great location, nice building and gardens, staff were trying, when they could, to make it a good experience etc. However, being as generous as I can, the food was average. Not what I had anticipated. Not the end of the world, or complaint worthy, but close. Having visited a few times over recent years, and remembering a more up-market experience, it wasn't quite what I was expecting in some regards.

We were a party of 6 for Sunday Lunch. The day was warm and sunny and it was busy both inside and out (and the car park full). The staff were very polite and as attentive as they could be with so many customers/tables to attend to. There was a wait for the food to be served, but everyone enjoyed their choices - 4 out of 6 went for the Brie Tart, one had the charred Watermelon Salad and I had the Aberdeen Angus & black garlic mayonnaise burger (minus gerkin, as requested!). No one had room for a dessert, but opted for coffee or tea.

Small buffet arranged for about 25 people to remember my brother who died unexpectedly earlier this year. I could not have asked for more on quite a sad occasion. The manager on duty that day, Simon, was so helpful and friendly, making sure that everything was ok. Another member of staff, Ben, was more than happy to help with technical issues using the TV to display a PowerPoint of photos, even though the pub was extremely busy. All of the staff were kind, friendly and helpful. The food was lovely, fresh, and more than enough. The Hare & Hounds was chosen as the spectacular view of Little Solsbury (Solsbury Hill) was very important to both myself and my brother as were were growing up. Thank you so much for a very memorable day!

Lovely views if you can get a table by the window. Service starts of well, but towards the end if the evening couldn't get anyone's attention to order desert. But a lovely atmosphere in pub. Staff very friendly. Food was lovely. Would go back for a 3rd time when in the area next.

I had my 30th birthday celebration here on Saturday evening and everything from the organising before hand to the actual evening was such a breeze. The views are incredible and the atmosphere is lovely. The night was so fun and relaxed and the staff were so friendly and attentive, served our every need and did everything possible to make it the best night. We have had many momentous occasions here and there’s a reason we keep coming back. Thank you again for the best night!

my partner and i went on a wednesday night, it’s based near bath racecourse, i have had this place saved due to the view for a while now and we were really excited to go. upon arrival the car park was poorly organised so we had to park on the road, when stepping inside we were very warmly greeted by a lady who seated us outside on the terrace upon our request. it was busy with almost every table taken up with 3-5 people sat down so we knew we were going to wait for a while. they had a lower terrance where it looked like they were serving drinks and wood fire pizza, i ordered the sausage and mash while my partner order the korean burger. you have to go up to the bar to order when sitting outside, i got a coke and my partner got a pint of inches, with food in total it cost £49 , we then had to wait 48 minutes precisely for our food which came out room temperature and looking a bit sorry for itself. though the sausage and mash did taste great, some vegetables would have been great to break it up. my partners burger was dry and bland in his words but we still ate it all and we left with full tummies. on leaving, i noticed in the kitchen it looked like there was only 1, maybe 2 chefs there - now i’ve worked hospitality the majority of my life, i completely understand the stress when you’re understaffed, but the ladies and gentlemen who served us were very attentive. overall id rate my experience 6/10, there’s definitely room for improvement but we were fed and staff were kind, what more can you ask for?
