The menu was very promising with a good selection of vegetarian dishes . The staff were friendly and we were promptly seated and menus were brought to us quickly. We settled on the wild salmon fish cakes and the manager kindly agreed to replace the chips on one order with extra salad. However when the food arrived we were sadly disappointed. The fishcakes were of a very poor quality, mainly potatoe based they were incredibly mushy and there was very little salmon in evidence and were quite greasy and tasteless. The chips were obviously frozen but again poor quality and over cooked. The extra salad to replace my chips was again poor quality consisting of mainly roughly chopped lettuce. We did give our feedback to the manager who gracefully didn't charge us for both plates as I left my fishcake as one was enough and only hunger drove me to eat the first. We won't be returning.

Lovley cafe close to main beach in Margate and the Turner Contemporary. A friendly welcome and good food. Dogs also welcome inside. The food was tasty and of good quality. Can reccomend the mediterranean Quiche with chips and salad which had a very good salad dressing and the hand cut ham egg & chips - the ham was divine. Good coffee and a great window seat to watch the world go by. 10/10.

Lovely cafe with a really welcoming interior. The menu is very much my taste with a good selection of options from fishcakes to quiche to burgers. There is also a vegan menu. I have no idea why people have put mean comments on here which are just not valid. Its a very nice place with great staff and service.

Pretty cafe in a nice spot in Margate. Lovely coffee and hearty breakfast. Staff friendly and cheerful. Food service was relatively slow given we were only 1 of 2 tables in the cafe when we ordered. Consequently we had to extend our parking time. On the one hand at least it’s cooked fresh, on the other hand it’s only breakfast: how long does it take to fry some bacon and eggs? Overall good experience and would return.

As many others have said - nice location, lovely staff, awful food. £16.50 for some cheap, unseasoned lamb offcuts slapped in a supermarket pitta. £13.50 for a poor quality burger. They have everything they need here for a top quality little restaurant, and it's a real shame the quality of the food is so poor.

A beautiful cafe with a lovely view, nice staff and absolutely abysmal food. It’s a shame because I want it to succeed, but the shocking cheapness and lack of effort put into the food prevents me from supporting it apart from buying a frankly mediocre coffee. Of particular note is the burger with nothing but a bun and sauce, an absolute ripoff.

We traveled to Margate for a day out during the October half term, we wanted to go to an independent Cafe for breakfast, as we walked through the old Town, all the Cafes were packed with people then we stumble on this one which was completely empty (which we soon realised why). the waitering staff were very friendly and efficient. the tables were very close together. we both ordered a cooked breakfast, one veggie, one regular, I don't like eggs and every time I go out and order a breakfast, everywhere will substitute the egg for something else. when I requested a swap, the waitress told me that the chef has a no swap policy which is ridiculous this day and age , eggs are very expensive currently, I know as I work in the food industry as a professional chef. when the food was delivered it was of basic quality and no where near worth the price tag, we won't be returning here until they get a chef who understands customer service and not using cheap ingredients to flog to the public.

Well where to start, went in with my son, had to fetch our own menus and had to ask for drinks list, one member of staff had a smile but the others looked like they would prefer to be elsewhere. An older lady who I think was Manager or owner was more interested in telling the staff to tell people on the tables out front they couldn't eat food they had brought elsewhere on them. Food was lack lustre to say the least, wild salmon fishcakes that hadn't got any salmon, just potato cake with the worst salad I have had, the veggie option didn't excite either. I know times are hard for all small businesses at the moment but cutting corners and still charging inflated prices isn't the way to survive, it wasn't very busy and tbh I can see why but if you are failing and your enthusiasm for what you do has gone then perhaps the time has arrived to let go and walk away. I would have passed my feelings on to a member of staff if they had bothered to ask if everything was OK but they didn't and after paying over £40 for the experience a goodbye or thankyou would have been nice but sadly this didn't happen. I work in the food and drink sector and know what standards should be in place regarding customer service and unfortunately this place falls short on all of it.

Waited ages for a menu. Coffee was warm not hot. We sat on a small table outside that was seated for 4 people. When the food came the plates didn’t all fit on the table, instead we all had to have them hanging over the table. We asked if two of us could move to another table and was told we couldn’t (there were lots of empty tables). We all had an English Breakfast. Was basic but edible. Sauces offered were Aldi own brand in the bottles. Paid £8.90 for one egg, 2 x bacon, one sausage, one slice of toast and small spoonful of beans. When we asked if we could pay separately by card the owner said they were too busy and suggested one of us pay and then transfer each other the money. Definitely style over substance. Would not return.

The staff at this seaside cafe were lovely and attentive, but the food didn't match up. My partner's halloumi salad was sparse and lacked dressing, almost as if the dish was thrown together as an afterthought. The pita bread was probably straight out from the packet, it would've been nice if it was toasted or heated. As for my burger, it was disappointingly small and overwhelmed by a heavy, sweet sauce. In comparison, I've had much more substantial and better-tasting burgers at upscale restaurants for the same price. While the staff did their best, the food was a letdown. We won't be returning.

As we sadly discovered on arrival, that our hotel did not offer breakfast, we were forced to find somewhere else, to eat breakfast on our two days in Margate... One that was recommended by the hotel staff, wasn't really our cup of tea, as it didn't offer what we would call a Full, English Breakfast. We therefore walked back into town, and the Harbour Café was the first one we came across. We absolutely loved the menu, the whole look of the place, and the staff were charming, and extremely tolerant of me wanting a weird mixture of stuff. The quality of the actual breakfast was fantastic, and we actually tried to go back the next day (on a Wednesday), but for some reason, it was closed when we got there at about 10 to 10... (The website says they're open at 9am on a Wednesday, but closed on Thursday, so maybe they'd changed their hours, as it was because there'd been a Bank Holiday on the Monday?) We were very disappointed, as we would happily have eaten there again. We can't recommend it too highly!

Went to the cafe for a coffee was not expecting rude service! We debated whether to have food but decided not to. Was shown to the table by a lovely girl who told us the kitchen was shut for 15/20mins but we could sit in. Got sat at the tiniest table at the back. Waited ages for someone to come over so I had to get up and ask for someone to take our order. Ordered 2 coffees and when stated that was all we would like the waitress (maybe the manager?) stared at me and rudely said we could not just have a drink. I stated we was never told we could not just have a drink. She then rudely said that there are other customers who need our table because they was going to eat and we was not. I said she could cancel our order but she then said it had already gone through so she wouldn’t do that and then said we needed to drink our coffees quickly and leave so she can give out table away. I felt super uncomfortable. On a positive note, our coffees were nice! Will not be coming back!!!!

Let's start with good things. Location, interior and staff were great. The food however was very basic and lacked any passion or spark. Being a long distance cyclist, I could eat this somewhere in the small village as a way to fuel myself while ignoring the vagueness and absolutely primitive approach to cooking. However this is a prime location next to the sea. Competition is fierce here and you are charging customers as a restaurant, but serve food that some "greasy spoon" cafes would be embarrassed to sell. I strongly encourage the owners to rethink your approach. You have a nice place in a good location, don't try to "milk" customers just because you have guaranteed footfall and someone will always come. You can do better than that.

You better believe all the negative reviews here. I regret I haven't checked before walking in. No Idea how this place survives as business. (Clearly owners don't care to improve) Great location and friendly staff ... Still, I can't forgive the lack of effort: Serving this food to the customers especially with that price tag is a joke. Even the sauce served was from Aldi's own brand. Come on! I like Aldi when I do my shopping, not when I pay money for eating out. The burger was the smallest and the most boring I've ever seen. Both dishes looked so sad and tasted like nothing. Speechless. I think I better don't waste more time writing here.

We like the food here - some say it's a bit pricey but the quality is dependable. However we are sick of being monitored. We almost always order food and in fact probably eat & depart quite quickly but never quickly enough it would seem. During most recent visit our meal was constantly interrupted - about 8 times I think - by staff enquiring whether there was anything else we'd like, removing the salt & pepper, removing cups the minute they were empty etc. etc. And yet there was plenty of space for more customers. It's horrible. On this occasion it got so bad there were barely 5 minutes between each 'visit', sometimes they were less than 2 minutes apart! Heaven forbid that customers might relax and enjoy, even just a little bit! I do not think this is anything to do with the staff but is at the behest of the owner who stands guard and apparently does not like customers. We've just had it with the place.

Want to start by saying the staff were lovely, and really made an effort to accommodate us, especially as a large group. We were able to walk in and they pushed two tables together to allow for us. It must have been busy, as they were a little frazzled at times when they came over, seeming to forget a couple things here and there. One being, when I asked for the door to be closed as it was really cold and everyone had to wear their coat/jacket inside. The waitress said they would ask if they could. The answer was either no, or they had forgotten, which wasn't the end of the world but not ideal. When it came to paying, we decided to pay the bulk and split our bills after we had left, and found some extra costs that didn't make much sense. For example, I ordered a Veggie Breakfast, and asked for scrambled eggs instead of fried: they charged me £1.80 to do this? Maybe it was a mistake, I'm willing to understand as they were busy. But if this is regularly the case, it's really extortionate. Otherwise we enjoyed our meals, though maybe slightly pricey because of its beach front location. They were also kind enough to wash out my travel mug and put a coffee to go into it. I wish I could rate this higher 😔

Firstly wanted to say that the young girls working there are really lovely and gave great service (they get the star) Other than that, the service from the manager/owner was terrible. We were rushed to our table, and everything was immediately an inconvenience. I ordered a white wine spritzer.. no ice .. so I said on just wine with a dash of soda.. told soda comes in bottles so you can’t have a dash you must have the whole thing. Again I felt like I’d really troubled her! Drinks ordered we ask for a little time to order food.. not allowed we must order everything we want now! Not only is this discouraging customers from ordering extra drinks, sides, deserts, it’s just downright rude! Food came.. I had (homemade medetaranian quiche); a microwaved , soggy bottomed bland , aldi quiche with oven chips and a basic salad.. my friend had (lamb kebab) , plain lamb in a pita with Tesco tzatziki and oven chips! We asked for mayo.. supprise supprise no mayo! We were just given aldi branded ketchup in its original bottle.. no shame! The owner was clearing plates before people had Even finished.. folding away tables noisily,, huffing audibly at other customers… we just felt we were being pushed to leave. And again payment was problematic.. we had to go inside to pay and we weren’t able to split the bill!? In 2022?? Must say the girl serving did genuinely seem embarrassed at the lack of ice/mayo/payment facilities… but I think the owner really needs to step up! Our bill was nearly £40 for all this may I add! Beautiful prime location that seems wasted on rude service and terrible overpriced food! Won’t go back .

Surprised by the poor reviews here. We visited on Monday lunchtime, were very touched by the warm welcome from the manager and had great service throughout from the lovely team working that day. The food was perfectly nice - nothing fancy, but then we weren’t...

One of the few times I didn't read reviews before eating at a restaurant thanks to being hungry, tired, and in a foreign city. I found the burger and fries excellent, and the waitress was lovely to me. Cozy seaside spot.

Was really disappointed with the quality of the food used. I had a veggie platter which consisted of the cheapest lettuce, Tom's olives and hummus with no taste! Also coffee was really small . I should have read the reviews first then we would have gone somewhere else!

To avoid, there much better places in Margate. I wish I read the reviews first but, as others have stated, it looks quite a pleasant place but the food is a very sub standard affair and way overpriced - a tourist trap to be avoided. A real shame as it's in a great location.

I’m sorry. Lovely setting and venue but no, you simply can’t charge £15 for a lamb kebab where the lamb tastes like it was reheated in the microwave. Real shame as this is a major missed opportunity

It was nice to sit outside in the sun but the food is way overpriced and poor quality. I ordered lamb kebab which was £15 and I expected shish kebab and not scrappy pieces of lamb you get from a late night takeaway. Really poor

Sadly appearances of the cafe do not match the quality of food or ingredients. If your in the market for a standard English breakfast, then this place is for you. A slightly more upmarket greasy spoons. As other people have mentioned, Aldi condiments, and little to no food presentation. No choice offered for type of bread in sandwiches and breakfasts.

Popped in randomly for a light lunch. Good menu selection, should be easy for everyone to find something. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Great to have gluten free options, which we needed for one of us. One mistake was fixed immediately with apologies and no fuss. Great alternative to the café at the Turner. Card payments taken, to correct an earlier review which said they were cash only.

This used to be our favourite wetherspoons and we was here all the time, but sadly has gone down hill in 2024. It has got very dirty, the place is just not tidied up and toilets contantly flooded with piss. It never used to be like this but most of the staff have changed and they just dont seem to care and stand around on their phones. The WiFi stopped working in April and despite me contacting wetherspoons numerous times they have unfortunately ignored it. You can connect but no internet. Collectively we have tried 11 devices all with same issue. Every other spoons I have no problem. They now only use plastic cups every day even when no events are on at dreamland. They do not wash them before use and they make your drink taste funny because you are ingesting microplastics. The street out front is littered with hundreds of these platic cups. The manager told me the council put a restriction on them using glasses and nke they have to onpy use plastic, however after noticing no other pubs in Margate do it I contacted the council, who have said they are lying, there are no special restrictions related to mandating plastic cups at any venue in Margate. They also said they will investigate the use of single use plastics as these are restricted under local licensing in Thanet. I have written to the manager of the wetherspoons direct and he refused to comment. What has annoyed me is why does he feel thr need to lie? Just tell the truth. They wont let you drink out a bottle any more or let you pour your own. They glug it into a glass and spill half of it on the side or throw throw the last drop away. How is it so hard to pour a beer? Additionally it is hard to get a full pint now. They rush so much you have 2cm of head on every pint so you never get a full pint. I have reported the short measures to wetherspoons and trading standards with photos and videos. We got lots of apologies from wetherspoons when we complained and a few free drinks but sadly they are still getting worse so we just dont come any more. Most weeks they also kick everyone out before 10pm on a Friday or Saturday because they dont want to work late.

Have visited this spot many times over the years and had some truly great seafood - carabineros, wonderfully crisp Fritto Misto etc but visited today to find the place unrecognizable. Hand written limited menu and the execution was awful. Limp battered muscles and terrible quality (looked like frozen) prawns which has been flash fried. I would have expected better from a fish and chip van. This place used to have massive queues but I can only assume that the staff or owners have changed because the quality has disappeared.

My daughter can't have dairy or soya, I saw they had 3 vegan flavours on display so then checked with a staff member about ingredients and she was very helpful. The ice cream was really nice and it was good to have a few choices. We'll definitely go there again.
