The Harbour Bistro in Coleraine

Shout out to the lovely Edel and her team for making us feel so welcome on Monday evening. We went there especially for the Seafood Therador and it did not disappoint. Amazing taste and flavor.

Overpriced basic food not what you would expect in a restaurant. Pathetic!!!!

First time visiting Portrush, came to visit family and had a family meal here, beautiful place, friendly and helpful staff, food was amazing

Visited the Harbour Bar for Sunday lunch. We were served by Mark who I think was the restaurant manager. He was excellent and looked after us. The menu has changed so we missed the lamb and duck as a roast dinner option. However the food was good and was a large portion. A point was lost for hygiene especially the stairs and toilets need a good scrub.

The battered cod was very greasy and tasted bitter and burned. It's likely that the oil it was cooked in was not changed in a while. The only decent thing was the fries... No one asked of allergies or came to us once we started eating to ask if everything was ok. Should have gone somewhere else but we'll know better next time.

Was given a recommendation so after a few pints in the bar I went for a bite to eat. I wasn’t the easiest to seat initially so extra points for getting me sorted. Great service, great meal and really enjoyed watching the fire pit. Food was faultless and cooked perfectly. Only criticism would be perhaps the young lady in the restaurant would concentrate as much on guests as trying to peel a label off a bottle. The rest of the staff were amazing.

4 of us dined here today from starter to main to desert everything was perfect vegan dish , burger , fish pie & steak all gorgeous food .The staff were absolutely lovely the place was v clean and had a great atmosphere. Haven’t been here in years but we were in the area and it was the only restaurant that was open. First of all the positives, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food on the other hand was a BIG disappointment and way overpriced! I had the salmon (farmed), which must have been either steamed or cooked in a water-bath, as the skin was not crispy, so inedible, and the salmon was absolutely tasteless. The béarnaise sauce was not fresh, as it had a think skin on it and tasted synthetic. I never knew tobacco onions could be chewy! They were just a greasy clump of chewiness! The garlic fries tasted awful. Either they used butter or oil that was off or they burnt the garlic, but they tasted bitter and some of them weren’t even cooked! Back in the 90’s this was the place to go, the buzz in the restaurant was fantastic the food was new, fresh and classy. It’s just greasy pub grub now. Definitely won’t be back, it’s not even a shadow of its former self. 😒

We started our evening off the little Bar in the snug.. which was true to its name.. open fire in a little nook with historic pics and awards associated with The Harbour Inn and the RNLI. Bar staff and locals super friendly and after some sublime Guinness we opted to move into the Bistro for what turned out to be the best Fish pie ever! Chef and serving staff friendly and efficient .. every dish being expertly prepped and checked before being served. Open wood fire grill added to the ambience. Moroccan lemon meringue to share which like the fish pie was huge and utterly delicious.

My wife and I drove to Portrush on our Anniversary to have a special meal at the coast. Unfortunately we chose the Harbour Bistro. Way overpriced for very average quality. My wife’s was the worst which prompted me to write this review. Chicken Caesar salad £18.95 6 pieces of lettuce 1 small butterfly chicken breast Minute strip of fatty bacon A drizzle of dressing. The old saying you eat with your eye, well in this case you would be better if blind 0 out of 10 for presentation Way way over priced. Disgrace on the Harbour bar/ Bistro. Drive 65 miles for a pathetic meal.

Unfortunately American golfers in at least 20 …and tbh couldn’t hear ourselves .. the language was shocking! Salmon was microwaved in a bag . Definitely not wood burned… fish pie was frozen fish pieces with mash on top ….maybe time to go back to basics … 🥴

Wow, this place has fallen far. It’s not the same as it used to be.The bone-in filet was missing the bone and was way over cooked. It looked baked and not grilled. The seasonal vegetables were very soggy and flavorless. The onion rings weren’t half bad, although the server dropped one that hit my wife’s leg and a replacement or apology was never offered. Speaking of the wife, she described her salad as “slimy.” They couldn’t even get the drinks right. Different flavors and sizes were brought each time. They did offer to recook the filet but with the quality as poor as it was we opted to just leave.

Very poor experience here. This used to be our favourite spot & sadly I don’t think we will be returning . It’s lost it’s way like so many of the other restaurants in this Dynasty. The menu was disappointing, service was not good & I had to return my meal as it was cold and the replacement arrived as my partner finished his meal! …….expensive and just not worth it .Don’t bother going here

Utter chaos on a busy Friday night. Waited 25 mins for a bottle of wine - not even water and glasses put on the table - as we had to choke down our starters dry. Seemingly dozens of staff, only one barman … why on Earth can one of the girls not unscrew a bottle ?!! No one seemed to have ‘responsibility’ for our table. Girls were either apologetic or surly, but still stuff didn’t happen. However, the food was decent enough. The food service was prompt. Manager was apologetic and decent at the end but oh my gosh some system improvements are required.

Seriously, the best food we had in Northern or Southern Ireland. The sauces ... amazing. The steak, fab. The chicken pita sandwich .. so good. The fondue cheese ... wow, and burger with onion rings. Do not pass up an opportunity to eat here.

Visited here for Sunday lunch with our 2 small children, was absolutely lovely. really friendly waitress, quick service and the food was lovely. Kids menu good and colouring in provided for them too. The only slight downside is that the tables are very close together due to limited space. All things considered we really enjoyed and would return

Great Bistro, a very detailed Menu that had something for everyone. Three of us opted for steak and the fourth ordered cid and chips. All dishes served by very pleasant staff, in particular Nicola, who checked we had everything we asked for. Highly recommend this Bistro.

It's with a heavy heart I write this review because the food was exceptional! But the level of service was terrible! Under staffed seems to be 70% bad staff mixed in with a very small amount of gems of staff here. Host was a lovely guy but not fully aware of what was going on with the servers. There was one guy who seemed to be the best was under so much pressure pity for him really! Our server seemed rushed and obviously didn't hear my order even though I pointed to the menu and repeated myself she even read me back our order. I got mine but my partners was wrong 😕 by the time his came I'd finished we where given dessert menus but it took that long we gave up our 2 year old was getting bored. I had to go to the host explain my dissatisfaction he was very good but again was unaware. Wish the server that mucked up our order had of just came and apologised for the mistake instead of obviously avoiding us shame! Food again was fab

Went to the harbour bistro for first time in a couple of years, wow the prices have really went up, but what a dirty place, the stair carpet to the toilets is black, the toilets are filthy and the meal was mediocre, the drink was very expensive. £140 for four adults was OK if it was good food but unfortunately it was just ok. They really need to close for a deep clean including the bar.

Absolutely fabulous food at this atmospheric lovely restaurant. Service was excellent and although very busy everything worked well! Couldn’t recommend their chilli beef enough and hubby had the fish pie which was excellent! I would recommend booking as it’s no secret it’s so good!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Harbour Bistro, and I must say, the food was excellent! I opted for the Chicken Arizona, and it was a true delight – flavorful and cooked to perfection. The overall dining experience was great, but I did notice a couple of hiccups. While the majority of the menu items were delightful, I must caution you about a few dishes that may be overly sweet or sickly. It's best to inquire with the server if you have any concerns about sweetness levels before ordering. One dish that didn't quite meet my expectations was the Cheese Fondue Onion Rings. Don't get me wrong; they were tasty, but they were surprisingly doughy, almost cake-like in texture. It was an unexpected twist that didn't quite work for me. However, despite these minor flaws, I can't ignore the fact that the food, in general, was top-notch. The Chicken Arizona and other dishes we tried were delicious, and the flavors were well-balanced.

The salt and chilli prawn sharing starter and cheese fondue were fantastic. The seafood thermidor was great, and the pork, lamb, and filet kebab cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and personable. We'd readily go back with hesitating!

A really superb restaurant. The food was good bistro fare but cooked very well and in generous proportions. The service however was amazing, I could have sat and watched it all evening. The place was heaving, but there was a flow to it that made it look effortless. Everybody working the space not just a table, with just the right speed and attentiveness. Worth every penny.

My wife and I met Ryan when trying to decide on a place to eat on our night in Portrush. We were standing at the bottom of the Ramone tower... He brought us right up where he pulled menus for us and told us he worked down at the Harbor Bistro. We looked at the menus, but said we'd follow him after perusing menus. We followed him to the restaurant (in the rain). He promptly sat us one we walked through the door. The servers and staff were amazing and the food was unbelievably tasty. I've never had a seafood meal that tasted like the Thermadore- It was creamy and smooth with an exceptionally rich flavor. I am very thankful to have met Ryan and followed him here. I will definitely plan this as a stop on my next Ireland visit when we bring our children, hopefully in a few years. We had the Cheese Fondue, Filet, Thermador, and a chocolate brownie cheesecake to finish us off... Everything was great. Cheers, Ryan and the staff at the Harbour Bistro.

What a great recommendation, fantastic atmosphere, brilliant service and fabulous tasting food all managed by the most hard working Mark (he never stops) who directs a great team (Ryan is hilarious) everyone ensures you have a great time. Definitely coming back.

Frequented the Ramore complex restaurants for a number of years when visiting Portrush but stopped when we moved here permanently as both food and service standards were poor on a number of occasions. Ate here tonight for the first in 2 years, food and service were good, great to see some mature staff here. However the ladies toilets upstairs are a disgrace. Ground in dirt on walls and floor tiles, debris in cubicles and toilets haven't been cleaned properly in years. Unacceptable standards for toilets in a food service facility. Won't be back anytime soon.

My wife and I ate here tonight, I had see food thermador unfortunately there where 4+ pieces containing bones which ruined the entire dish / meal. I did mention this when asked if everything was ok but it was not reflected in our bill. Will hesitate to return

We had the most amazing Sunday lunch yesterday at the harbour bistro. We had heard how good it was from friends and the experience we had was better than you could ever imagine. The menu options are fantastic and the food is really outstanding! The icing on the cake for the lunch was how we were looked after the by the staff, they were excellent in a very busy environment. The Sunday didn’t end there, we availed of the entertainment that was on offer ( 3 different acts) and ended up staying most of the evening! This was our third visit to the Harbour Bistro. The service was excellent. We waited for our table next door in a fabulous little pub with open fire and friendly staff and customers. Our food was lovely with great choices. The prawn starter is now a firm favourite. All main courses were excellent. Staff were very attentive and made our birthday girl feel very welcome.

My Girlfriend and I have both spent many years in hospitality. We have expectations in service, food quality and atmosphere. The Bistro staff are not only genuinely welcoming, they seem happy to help and are thoroughly professional. Our food was promptly served and delicious. The cheese fondue to start was addictive and we had to stop ourselves from eating all the bread to leave room for main course. The salt chilli prawns were beautiful and my sirloin was cooked to perfection. After we ate we enjoyed the Gin bar and it was a triumph too. I recently attended the Harbour Bistro, Portrush. I had fillet steak on the bone, the food was amazing would recommend highly to anyone. My wife also had steak, very impressed. Venue second to none and staff cannot do enough to make your visit a memorable one.

2 head chefs were on leave. Waited over an hour for our seat and over an hour for our meal which was not to normal standard. Very disappointed.

The food and drinks were all amazing! I ordered the seafood thermidor and it was divine. My one friend got the penne pasta and loved it. My other friend’s burger was a little over cooked but I don’t think they asked how she liked it cooked so they made it very well-done. The drinks were also solid. The raspberry woo-woo and blackberry bramble were delicious.

Byli jsme na jednu noc ubytovaní v Portrush a hledali jsme restauraci, kde si dáme večeři. Nevěděli jsme, že je potřeba rezervace, ale i přesto nás posadili na bar. Moc jsem tomu nerozuměla, protože byly asi 4 stoly volné a nikdo je během naší návštěvy neobsadil, ale nevadí. Dali jsme si pivo a jídlo. Těstoviny byly velmi syté a teda extrémně pálivé. Sýrové fondue za mě v pořádku. Porce byly velké, ceny mě také nepřekvapili, tak jako v celém Irsku byly na naše poměry vyšší. Nicméně mě moc nenadchla atmosféra ani jídlo, takže hodnotím za 3.
