Update: the below response says it all. What sort of business plan aims to not be people’s cup-of-tea? To be clear to the viewers here, the bar was not being blocked at all, in fact, I sat on the stool at the table which is also, at the bar. Also, forgot to mention. Asked for second pint and one of the bar girls dismissed me like I was talking a weird langue “I dinnae serve you’ll have to ask a server” - who were all like 2feet further up the bar. End of update Strange place. Staff need training. Young staff don’t really have a clue what they are doing. Can’t shake a cocktail properly - just witnessed one of the girls sort of jingle it around her shoulder…. Doesn’t understand what is being achieved with a shake. Don’t allow stools at the bar but happy for you to stand. Then got confused when sat at the table at the bar. Food isn’t very good either, rushed out of kitchen and badly served. Only saving grace so far is they automatically cancel the “tip” option on the card machine in front of you - perhaps it’s because they know they won’t be deserving it. Overall, young inexperienced staff badly led. Could do with some time in London or somewhere similar to see how bars should operate.

Lovely lass service was very friendly and helpful wine was good. Interesting place loads of TVs watched Per external game. Nice.

My daughter booked the Boozy Brunch, which is actually available until 5.30. It was very good value compared to buying the same dish and 6 drinks. There is a reasonable choice of food with a few veggie or vegan options. The pizza was very good. Lots of options on cocktails and there was also a choice of beers, cider, non alcoholic cocktails or soft drinks, so you can mix it up and manage your alcohol intake, which is good. Pleasant atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Daina was lovely and took good care of us. Staff also helped as I lost my snood somewhere in the venue and they helped us to look for it. Sadly couldn't find it but appreciated their help. Overall an enjoyable way to spend 2 and a 1/2 hours with family or friends.

Worst meal I’ve had. £30 each for that…

Booked a table for drinks the Friday before Christmas. Table was ready when we arrived with no issues. Table service through the app was pretty slow, so just resorted to going to the bar. Prices on average with the rest of Edinburgh.

I’ve been here a couple times, unfortunately the food seems to have recently not just gone downhill but dived off a cliff edge. We were a group of 8, and only 2 of us actually enjoyed the food - my burger was hard as a rock in places, and my MIL’s “soft” tacos actually splintered apart. Food is insanely overpriced given the quality. Drinks-wise the bar has some decent options and the vibe inside isn’t bad, but dear god please don’t eat here when there are much better options just down the road.

Very disappointed. Ordered 3 meals from the lunch menu, app didn't work so after entering all the order had to go to the bar where the girl just didn't know what the menu was so we got overcharged. When the food eventually came it was all cold and pretty tasteless and the pizza base was completely burned. Nobody checked how our meals were. The place was freezing cold and the lights didn't work so flicked on and off the whole time. Not worth a visit

Came in for a cocktail - paid on app and waited half hour - no drinks. Went to bar and they finally turned up 10 mins later. 3 cocktails, one poor margarita, an Xmas one that tasted like toothpaste and a dreadful girl behind the bar with an appalling attitude - AVOID

5 of us went to Hanover Tap for the Christmas Boozy Brunch yesterday and we all absolutely loved it!! It is fantastic value for money. The pizzas were excellent and the staff couldn't have been nicer! I've already recommended it to my friends and we will definitely be back!

Does not cater for the disabled people. I have a disability and was very difficult to get downstairs to a party. There was no windows, fire exits. The bar was not set up for guests arriving. Was told to wait 10 mins till they set it up. The bar should have been ready for guests arriving. I did phone the pub before I went to find out if they catered for disabled people but was an automated phone service so could not speak to anyone direct. Would not recommend if disabled!

I was in Edinburgh for work for a few days and called in here on my first night for something to eat and what a delightful find it was, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the little rebel burger was extremely tasty. The bar has a good range of beers but be warned they are defo city centre prices but overall glad I called in and if I was ever in the area again I would be back

Now the Boston Bar. - pretty sweet bar serving a good variety of beers. Live music all afternoon was great too. Plenty of screens to watch the big game.

Utterly abysmal big beer con, £20 for 3 pints, this is big business pretending it cares about beer, utterly dreadful expensive crap, if you choose to drink it here you are killing independent craft brewing, this is a massive company and they are ripping you off. the worst pub in Edinburgh who pay literally nothing for their beer

Great bar to watch the game . Drinks on the expensive side …. Don’t order the Nachos ! £14 for a mere handful and there supposed to be for 2 ??? Total rip off !!!!

Estuve un par de veces y por lo general realmente disfrutar sin embargo la última vez fue terrible, la comida era tan pobre. Pedí la tostada de aguacate y fue la comida más seca que he tenido. La tostada parecía pan viejo rancio, tampoco había apenas aguacate y solo 2 diminutos huevos escalfados. Esperé más de una hora para la comida, así que en realidad tuvimos que perseguir, ya que todos los que vinieron después de nosotros habían conseguido su comida! He enviado correos electrónicos y el gerente me dijo que ignorara una respuesta que me dio el diputado, pero ahora no he escuchado nada.

Really good food, great cocktails & the guy behind the bar was awesome - was there for a friend's event in the private room downstairs & it was a great choice.

Pizza is good, but you will need to cut it yourself. The crowd is young. Remind you: You’re in Edinburgh, so the service doesn’t follow American standards.

Food was good with big portions, however service does not exist: you have to download an app, take the commands by yourself and pay beforehand. After, some memberd of our group (group of 13 people) received their meal quicky within 20 min but the last were served after 1 hour... this is not good service, service not existant.

I am here visiting from the states and OMGAWD the beef on my burger is the best beef I've ever tasted in my entire life. I know US beef doesn't compare to beef around the world so I expected the beef here would be good but I was blown away. All of the food here was fresh, hot, well seasoned and delicious. By far my favorite meal in Edinburgh so far. The atmosphere is lively and there are locals here which was nice. The tap beer is cold and fresh! Overall an excellent choice!

Fantastic little place. Visited during the Fringe festival and was able to see some fantastic comedy. Enjoyed a great meal and drinks.

Went here for some food during Edinburgh festival. Menu wasn’t great but ordered burrito bowl and paid extra for ‘pulled beef’ What came was a bowl lined with a tortilla wrap which was filled with what I can only describe as mixed slop. It was topped with more weird brown slop which I assume was meant to be the ‘pulled beef’ but it was not recognisable as that at all. Didn’t eat much!! My friend had macaroni with garlic dough balls that were so hard she couldn’t eat them. Definitely do not recommend.

Attended a comedy show during the Edinburgh Fringe so probably had a bit of a different atmosphere than normal. It's a nice pub though in a pleasant part of the city. Good selection of beers and efficient staff. Bit on the pricey side though. Basement area where we watched the show was small, but we managed to get a seat. It's a good venue to see a Fringe event and easy to get to from the station and city centre.

Anita was brilliant in organising a space to watch a sporting event, they even added flags and bunting which was such a lovely touch. Staff were super friendly and I’ll definitely be back!

Decent pub not far from Princes Street and George Street serving an array of beers and food for the hungry. Staff friendly and attentive. Toilets clean. The downstairs is currently setup as a single fringe venue, shows are sequential , so the whole pub never gets rammed.

Came in & realised you could scan a QR code, download an app & get a free beer. Took about two minutes & we got 3 free pints. Never seen anything like it in any other kind of pub (unless I know the staff - lol!) absolutely class. Really nice inside

Not child friendly I booked and was told my teenage son could watch rugby match as long as we eat When I got there the bar person asked for identity for my son which was not asked at the booking. Also I was told we could not watch whole of match and must leave -15 minutes after eating. Very disappointing Will not be back

I went with some friends last week for lunch and drinks. Pizzas and burgers were really tasty and the lunch deal was good value. Staff are excellent, we were served by Dillon who was very friendly and helpful.

Plenty seats thru the back, decent atmosphere. Good for groups.

Absolutely great selection of craft beer on tap. Also can’t beat £5 cocktails in the city centre. So many screens for live sport if that’s your thing. Staff were super friendly especially Domi & Dillon.

The food here was bad, particularly the pizzas. Come here for a drink but avoid the food.

This place has been weird since they were taken over by Stonegate Group. The food has gone downhill and massively up in price, and the staff told me they couldn’t make me a normal martini because it wasn’t on the cocktail menu (they could only do passionfruit or espresso apparently). Every pub, even Wetherspoons makes classic cocktails. I used to really love this place when it was a normal pub and not corporate nonsense.

Been lots and lots, it's a great bar and plenty of choice of TVs for football, there is also sound too!! Only downside to the place is the price of pints. £24.50 for a round for 4 people is pricy... Even for Edinburgh. Would recommended people to book a table as it can get very busy in there.

Music was great. Elijah the bar guy was awesome. Mark the chef was really nice too.

Asked to try a beer, was given a full pint instead which I was charged £7 for. ‘Never mind it will be nice’. It wasn’t.

The 'boozy brunch' is great value for money. And it's not just cheap food & drink either - its really good quality. Great service from the staff too.

Booked a table well in advance for a family stay and n Edinburgh. When we arrived, the young waitress greeted us by gruffly demanding ID from my two eighteen year old sons. Because they didn’t have ID with them, we were told we would have to leave as soon as we had finished eating! We hadn’t even attempted to order any drinks at this stage. While this may be the rule that they set, they could tell us the rules in advance or at least in a more friendly and professional manner. We were shown to our table which was directly below the large television screens that were showing football. If we had stayed, we would have been sat there being stared at by approximately thirty or forty loud (drunk) lads who were there to enjoy the football. We didn’t stay! We politely informed the staff that their attitude was pretty appalling and left.

Ordered a vegetarian "loaded sourdough sub". It came without roasted peppers, so I had a mouthful of dry hot-dog bun with some raw salad. Disappointing.

Staff were great. Craft beer good. But mid-week, the bar is open late. This attracts students. I don't mind them. But I couldn't eat a whole one 😂

I will not, and neither will any one in our group, spend another penny, in your establishment! I wish you luck and good fortune, but OMW, take a Course, I'm Customer Centricity, humility and manners... and revisit, what kind of people you hire... SIS, just SIS!!!

Had the boozy brunch here on Tues 12th March with my husband. Great value at £33 for 6 drinks and a main course. Service was brilliant, friendly, and really quick. We both had a burger as our main, there was a good selection of dishes to choose from, we were both very happy with our choice of burger and nice chips included. There was a great selection of drinks included, beer, cocktails, spirits, prosecco etc. The only tiny negative was there was music playing but also the TV volume was up loud enough to hear, would have preferred the TV to be muted, but after a few drinks that bothered us less and less. We'd definitely revisit next time we're in Edinburgh.

Overall mediocre as an experience. Food menu is considered limited compared to other pubs in town.

Just love this place, it's our first port of call when we come to Edinburgh. A great choice of beers and food.

Went with family to watch the rugby. Booked a table in advance. Very busy very noisy but still they managed to serve food and drinks reasonably quickly. Lovely staff. Helpful and smiley. Slightly spoilt by miserable group at the next table but can't blame the Tap for them. Recommended.

The bouncer was unpleasant, despite the fact that being very polite. He sent me away after showing him several Ids. I found his attitude very unpleasant, and the fact that he thought my Id was not me or a fake quite funny as he should need more training for his job to get this so wrong. He refused to give me his name which I also found quite strange!

Popped across to Edinburgh for a wee day out. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Tap.. Great burger and all the staff were extremely friendly with prompt service. Will definitely be back.

Recently visited for the Christmas dinner menu. Really enjoyed the meal and it was great value for money. The staff were great, especially given how busy it was. Christmas aside, the bar has a great selection of beers/ales and always has a great atmosphere.

Was enjoying a couple of drinks with a business contact but didn’t enjoy being ignored by 4 staff while two of them made some cocktails - before attending to a large group who walked in while I was waiting. Nice place, good beer but keep an eye on your customers folks.

Güd but by no means the best! Sound for a pint in the evening. Beer selection deffo used to be better. Either way, not bad.

The guy at the bar was fantastic and pleasant. The food was also super tasty. Had a meaty pizza and chicken wings, super enjoyed them. I was there by midday and it looked like it would have a fantastic vibe at night.

Been visiting this pub since it was called the Jekyll and Hyde. Perfectly decent pub off George Street though I would avoid the Cellar Bar which is a bit soulless.

I enjoy the helpful staff, student discounts, and variety of beers here! Importantly, Hanover Tap has two separate restrooms so no queue! There are also portable chargers that cost £3 per hour There are many screens for football and the staff allows patrons to choose which match they want to watch as long as they have it! I’ll return

The Hanover Tap is a reasonably nice pub with contemporary decor, on two levels. The main bar is at ground level with most of the seating area on an upper level. There are a few TV screens for catching up on the news or sports. There's a great selection of craft beers though some are a little pricey. I can't comment on the food though based on what I saw the quantities looked reasonable. Service is friendly and welcoming.

Dog friendly and caters for all diets including veggie and vegan. Basement area noisy when football is on, but recommended other than that.

Tasty food, nice atmosphere, great service and worth paying the supplement on the cocktails as the porn star martinis and espresso martinis were delicious!

Food and drinks were great but staff failed to tell us everyone in our party would have to pay additional £5 to upgrade drinks for Boozy brunch even if not everyone wanted the upgrade. It wasn’t printed in the menu (Halloween brunch menu) so was a bit frustrating. “Sorry must have missed telling you” isn’t really great, as when we arrived it was very quiet so not as if it was too busy to be told. However staff were great at catering to food intolerances/allergies that were mentioned for me which I appreciated.
