Music was great. Elijah the bar guy was awesome. Mark the chef was really nice too.

Asked to try a beer, was given a full pint instead which I was charged £7 for. ‘Never mind it will be nice’. It wasn’t.

The 'boozy brunch' is great value for money. And it's not just cheap food & drink either - its really good quality. Great service from the staff too.

Worst taco I had in my life, burnt halloumi and expensive

I saw someone combing his beard, but otherwise a good selection of ales and nice layout.

Lovely decoration, very good atmosphere. Drinks were reasonable and the food was tasty! All the staff were polite and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Whether you're looking for somewhere to watch sporting events, or whether you're looking for a catchup with friends; this venue works for every occasion. If you're looking for a private space for a special occasion, they also have the downstairs bar available for bookings.

Ordered a vegetarian "loaded sourdough sub". It came without roasted peppers, so I had a mouthful of dry hot-dog bun with some raw salad. Disappointing.

Staff were great. Craft beer good. But mid-week, the bar is open late. This attracts students. I don't mind them. But I couldn't eat a whole one 😂

Had the boozy brunch here on Tues 12th March with my husband. Great value at £33 for 6 drinks and a main course. Service was brilliant, friendly, and really quick. We both had a burger as our main, there was a good selection of dishes to choose from, we were both very happy with our choice of burger and nice chips included. There was a great selection of drinks included, beer, cocktails, spirits, prosecco etc. The only tiny negative was there was music playing but also the TV volume was up loud enough to hear, would have preferred the TV to be muted, but after a few drinks that bothered us less and less. We'd definitely revisit next time we're in Edinburgh.

Overall mediocre as an experience. Food menu is considered limited compared to other pubs in town.

Just love this place, it's our first port of call when we come to Edinburgh. A great choice of beers and food.

Went with family to watch the rugby. Booked a table in advance. Very busy very noisy but still they managed to serve food and drinks reasonably quickly. Lovely staff. Helpful and smiley. Slightly spoilt by miserable group at the next table but can't blame the Tap for them. Recommended.

The bouncer was unpleasant, despite the fact that being very polite. He sent me away after showing him several Ids. I found his attitude very unpleasant, and the fact that he thought my Id was not me or a fake quite funny as he should need more training for his job to get this so wrong. He refused to give me his name which I also found quite strange!

Popped across to Edinburgh for a wee day out. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Tap.. Great burger and all the staff were extremely friendly with prompt service. Will definitely be back.

Recently visited for the Christmas dinner menu. Really enjoyed the meal and it was great value for money. The staff were great, especially given how busy it was. Christmas aside, the bar has a great selection of beers/ales and always has a great atmosphere.

Was enjoying a couple of drinks with a business contact but didn’t enjoy being ignored by 4 staff while two of them made some cocktails - before attending to a large group who walked in while I was waiting. Nice place, good beer but keep an eye on your customers folks.

Güd but by no means the best! Sound for a pint in the evening. Beer selection deffo used to be better. Either way, not bad.

The guy at the bar was fantastic and pleasant. The food was also super tasty. Had a meaty pizza and chicken wings, super enjoyed them. I was there by midday and it looked like it would have a fantastic vibe at night.

Been visiting this pub since it was called the Jekyll and Hyde. Perfectly decent pub off George Street though I would avoid the Cellar Bar which is a bit soulless.

I enjoy the helpful staff, student discounts, and variety of beers here! Importantly, Hanover Tap has two separate restrooms so no queue! There are also portable chargers that cost £3 per hour There are many screens for football and the staff allows patrons to choose which match they want to watch as long as they have it! I’ll return

The Hanover Tap is a reasonably nice pub with contemporary decor, on two levels. The main bar is at ground level with most of the seating area on an upper level. There are a few TV screens for catching up on the news or sports. There's a great selection of craft beers though some are a little pricey. I can't comment on the food though based on what I saw the quantities looked reasonable. Service is friendly and welcoming.

Dog friendly and caters for all diets including veggie and vegan. Basement area noisy when football is on, but recommended other than that.

Food and drinks were great but staff failed to tell us everyone in our party would have to pay additional £5 to upgrade drinks for Boozy brunch even if not everyone wanted the upgrade. It wasn’t printed in the menu (Halloween brunch menu) so was a bit frustrating. “Sorry must have missed telling you” isn’t really great, as when we arrived it was very quiet so not as if it was too busy to be told. However staff were great at catering to food intolerances/allergies that were mentioned for me which I appreciated.

Used to be a big fan of HT. Pretty wide selection of drinks and decent food!

Popped in for a pre lunch drink and was very nice in decor and ambiance. It was quiet but but has a really nice atmosphere and friendly Staff.

Been here before and enjoyed my lunch and drink. Today I came in and discovered I was charged £7.15 for a pint of craft ale. I’m generally happy to pay the higher prices you would expect in Edinburgh but I’ve never encountered this level of pricing. The pub is fine but nothing to get excited about. I’ve been in classier bars in Edinburgh and paid far less. Sorry but I can’t see anything to attract me back, especially at these prices.

We booked a function room for a reunion yesterday the bar in the function room was not in use so had to keep going upstairs to bar . The sharing platter and pizza was not the best . But worst of all the bar staff decided to stop serving us about 10.30 as we had been there since 3 spending lots of money and for no other reason than that …. Will not recommend to anybody .

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment to catch a rugby game on Saturday, and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly, efficient, and made sure that everyone had a clear view of the game. They kept the drinks flowing, ensuring that no one missed a moment of the action, despite how busy it was!

We had a very special army reunion in the tap last night, we haven't seen each other in over 30 years. We were having a great time and spent a lot of money there until the bar staff decided not to serve us anymore, they said we have been there since 3pm, that is correct but why is that a reason not to serve us anymore, we were all well behaved and not 1 person in my party was drunk and out of order, we were simply having a good time. Some of these guys travelled 400 miles for this reunion. I am embarrassed that our reunion turned sour because we have been in your pub since 3pm. So your staff decided not to serve us anymore. No doubt some others in my party will also leave a review. 😞

After a fantastic afternoon and evening spent with friends at the Hanover Tap Edinburgh our group of 14 were eventually left with just 4 of us. We tried to buy another drink to say goodbye to each other but the young lady behind the bar refused to serve us. I asked her why and she said that we were all drunk. I asked if one of us had misbehaved or acted out of order she said no but that as we had been there several hours we must be drunk and she would not serve us. We are all in our late 50’s our conduct at the pub was exemplary but she still wouldn’t serve us. As a group we had spent in excess of £1000 on food and drinks but she was having none of it. Shame to end a fantastic day that way. The young manager should rethink how she treats good customers. We as a group will not be returning to the Hanover Tap Edinburgh

Great venue but the way we we're treated was very disappointing. Army veterans saying goodbye to a much loved friend and a group of us travelled miles. We were indeed drinking from 3pm. No one was drunk and wives joined us towards the end of the evening. We were refused to be served because we had been there all day. That was the point. We didn't want to do pub crawls. Just wanted to chat and be together. We even bought some South Africans drinks during the game. No one was drunk. We caused no trouble and we spent a lot of money only to be spoken down to.

Just a good little pub, decent prices. Order at the bar and away ya go. Tvs as well during sports events

Beware if you want to book a event there. Despite dozens of emails arranging details, they then trick you with a questionnaire. Fail one question (by being honest) and they summarily cancel the booking. All the efficiency of a half-staffed part-timer, and the flexibility of an automated bot.

The staff are very kind and always have a smiling face. Such a pleasant place as well. Recommend coming to this watering hole over others in the area definitely. I haven't tried the food hopefully will try in the next few days.

Great place to watch any sporting events as they have many screens. Good choice of beers and deceptively spacious. We didn't try the food but did see some very tasty looking meals coming to tables around us.

Went for the boozy brunch and did expect it to be busy during the fringe however when we asked a member of staff how to get our booked (and deposit paid for table) she ignored us and walked away. We were eventually sat down by a different member of staff who was more pleasant. You get 6 drinks included which seems good however the cocktails are severely watered down and on two occasions we had to go to the bar for our drink order (booking is for 1 hour and a half) when it was supposed to be table service. Food was average. Seemed the fringe show took priority than the other paying customers.

A great place to go for drinks but the food was definitely a miss for me. The mac and cheese was overly sweet and tasted more like fast food than restaurant food. The bartender was so nice and made some great gin cocktails though!

Underwhelming place with no atmosphere Can accept the expensive pricing due to it's location. Bar was run by young females who just sat on their phones the whole time. Every beer i had wasn't cold and they had ongoing issues with the lines throughout the night. Staff were pleasant enough when they weren't on their phones Don't think I will go again

Hi popped into the Hannover Tap on my visit too Edinburgh thoroughly enjoyed the pub felt so relaxed the staff were all so friendly and the customer service was amazing.

Lovely bar and really nice cocktails, but the staff unfortunately ruined the experience. They were quite rude, felt like I was bothering them by ordering, and it was obvious they didn’t want to be there, could definitely do with some better customer service skills, as i felt a bit awkward and uncomfortable while ordering. As I said a lovely wee pub but most likely won’t be back.

I came to book a boozy brunch as I was finding that the booking site wasn't very user friendly. A man was being served and it was only myself waiting. For quite a while. While the other member of staff ignored me. When I was finally acknowledged I was told I couldn't book a table with them I could only do it via the non user-friendly website or the telephone booking line. I mean seriously, you can't walk in and book a table! Not a good first impression Hanover Tap. I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

The people who go out for a smoke or go home are super loud and this bar doesn't do anything about it. If you live close to this place or stay at a hotel nearby the crowds will wake you up in the middle of the night every single day. Super annoying

Really good place for casual food and sports (football) watching. Back room has 5 decent screens and every time I've been, commentary has been on. Food is decent too. Standard selection but can't overly complain on quality for what you'd expect. Downsides; The last time I visited they had clearly cleaned their pipes fairly recently. Every drink we tried (and we tried 3 or 4 different ones) had a chemically taste - unnatural to the likes of a Guinness. Pints are also nearly hitting £7. Sign of the times maybe but definitely the most expensive pint I've had in Edinburgh for a while.

Describe my experience? Where do I begin? Couldn’t find the toilet for a start! Nothing good about this place. Staff unfriendly, beer overpriced and flat (don’t clean the beer pipes) and the manager, don’t get me started. What a petulant little man. DO NOT ORDER THE DAUPHINOISE !

The perfect establishment for a Boozy Brunch! My friend and I had the best time, the selection of food and 6 drinks for £28 per head is great value and if you do fancy something outwith this, its an extra £5 per head (still a great price!). The menu is extensive and we opted for the Big Scottish Breakfast - it was amazing and we added in a cheeky portion of chips too. The place itself has a great vibe, good tunes playing, plenty of TV screens if you want to catch up on the latest sport. The staff are helpful and friendly. Its a great location less than 10 min walk from Waverley Train Station. Will definitely be back.
