We had a truly wonderful experience at The Hanger freehouse today during Sunday roast. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a family meal. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our daughter, who has autism and prefers her food separated. Not only did they respect our request, but they also created a delightful, tapas-style roast dinner just for her, which she absolutely loved. Their thoughtfulness and attention to detail made our visit extra special. The service was impeccable, and everyone was so friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

An impromptu visit for a Saturday lunchtime drink, after a drop off at Heathrow. Turned out that we had a wonderful lunch, selected from a fantastic menu, excellently seasoned, presented and cooked. Could not fault our choices, of octopus based taco with romesco and squid ink mayo, scallops and fish starter, chicken fillet burger, halloumi and rosti burger. The dessert menu also looked devine,but, we had no room to try , such a shame.

Gorgeous modern pub with cosy country fires and friendly staff

My parents come here on a weekly basis as they live just over the road & I always know why, great pub, everyone is so friendly and the food is top notch! Love going in there when I’m visiting my parents & they always have really fun events on. When myself & my husband got married we got given a bottle of bubbly to share which was really lovely and thoughtful even though I don’t live in the village anymore! Will always be my fave place to go

I was taken there for Mother’s Day lunch . It was incredible . The food was superb . The best roast beef I have ever had great roast pots amazing gravy vegetables cooked perfectly. The starters / bar snacks were so so good and very different . We had the Korean cauliflower, whipped marmite butter and focaccia bread , potato skins , all absolutely beautiful . Deserts were fab we chose a different one each all incredible followed by coffee and homemade truffles . We ordered more truffles . The staff were very friendly and although it was busy our service was fantastic . I had a bounty martini which I would drive back for every day best cocktail I’ve ever had . The Hanger also has some fabulous modern art . The owner Clare was so welcoming and her husband is the chef sadly we didn’t meet him to thank him for the best lunch experience . We will definitely be back. THANK YOU CLARE FIR A FANTASTIC MOTHER’S DAY TREAT .

Great food, amazing desserts, friendly service, but overshadowed by the manager responses to poor reviews. Not cheap, but nowhere is these days. Been once, but having shared with family and noticed the reviews won’t be returning. I’d hate to bump into the passive aggressive owner! Certainly need to think about the way their comments read.

Delicious lunch and friendly, efficient service.

Had 1 beef & 2 roast chicken here on Mother’s Day. Food was delicious with a wide variety of vegetables, crispy roast potatoes & gravy. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the friendly staff. We sat in the dog friendly bar. Will definitely return for a special occasion.

Good food and service is good been twice and both times they seem to add £1 for no reason. Last time we ordered 1 extra gravy and got charged for 2 this time we ordered 1 starter and explicitly said we are not sharing and were charged for extra toast. Something to keep an eye on

Very impressed by our first visit to The Hanger. The menu was so good, we found it difficult to choose, but as it was a Sunday we all chose the roast. The beef was perfectly pink, roast potatoes excellent, and a lovely selection of root vegetables and side dishes. The dessert menu was also good. I think this was the first of many visits. Very welcoming, attentive service, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely, relaxing atmosphere. We look forward to our next visit.

It has already been said but the food is so good. So well executed and great depth of flavours. Everything works so well together. Can’t wait to go back again. The Artemis was sublime with the Wagyu.

So, It is a very rare thing these days to find a pub that has it all, Great Front of house, Great Bar Staff, Good Pint and ................ Amazing Food and I mean fabulous. The Crab rarebit tasted of Crab, I hear you laugh, however, more often than not so many dishes saying Crab have no baring to the dish at all. The Steak was the most delicious, beautifully cooked and presentation was sublime. We ordered the chocolate and Hazelnut Pudding and wow wow wow perfection, the hazelnut volute tasted like a foragers dream. Thank you all so very very much for making our evening so wonderful

We booked for a Saturday evening and enjoyed a delightful meal in an interesting environment with a very eye catching selection of eclectic “pop art”. The pork chop topped with black pudding crumb was delicious, as was the venison pie with amazing homemade crispy chips. And don’t get me started on the desert, the chocolate “tart” was “to die for” and I wish I had not agreed to share it! Whilst others compromise on their menu, ingredients and/or service the team at The Hanger continue their high quality approach and is very highly recommended.

A breath of fresh air to have such a wonderful pub-restaurant in the area. Great atmosphere with modern eye-catching eclectic mix of decor. The talented Chef produces a great menu/fayre that’s definitely not run of the mill, fresh, tasty and made with passion and flair. Kept in a mid price range (you won’t find 10oz steaks). The Bar side area allows well behaved dogs, so you can enjoy dinner. The restaurant area is brightly lit - I so wish they would please consider changing the restaurant area lighting for evening dinner - give it some warm ambiance and intimacy, maybe with table lamps.

Smart country pub. Modern decor, open areas and also cosy places to sit. Good service and great bar snacks with our post Xmas festive drinks. And for once there was a good choice of non alcoholic drinks, the ones that are actually enjoyable to drink.

What a wonderful pub/restaraunt. The best Sunday lunch i've had in a pub or restaurant. Excellent quality meat, crispy roast potatoes (rare to see outside home cooked), beautifully prepared vegetables. The best cauliflower cheese I've ever had eating out. Great wines. Friendly knowledgeable waiting staff. A beautiful dining room. All in all a fantastic experience.

We visited the Hanger Sunday lunch. Dog friendly pub. The starter was great, mushroom soup with truffle and poached egg, main course Tomato & Mascarpone Tart, Smoked Aubergine, Courgettes and a beef and pulled pork burger. I was a bit disappointed by the burger to be honest: I understand the patty is handmade and I've asked for a medium rare, it was still pink but was a bit dry, and not very tasty. Overall the burger was a bit insipid, very bland. My other half really enjoyed the dessert : Chocolate mousse.

Enjoyed lunch in the fantastic new surroundings that is now ‘The Hanger’ Service was great from arrival to leaving, and was faultless. Great choice menu. I had a halibut/ smoked haddock bar snack starter followed by pie of the day main. Delicious. My partner enjoyed a partridge based starter and had venison wellington. The presentation of both was great on the eye, slightly missed on the taste with the main. We would definitely recommend and return ourselves.

Terrific pub, totally updated from my last visit a decade or more ago. Great staff, food we had was excellent. We sat in the bar which was very comfortable. Very clean everywhere.

We absolutely love this place. The food is absolutely sublime, the staff are so friendly. The changing menu makes it so you can try new foods on a regular basis and the deal they have on a Wednesday is very reasonable. If you are in the area it's a must visit for dinner.

We came here as a family of four and had the best time. The food was totally delicious, service fantastic and the setting was gorgeous. Attention to detail in every area and we were made to feel very welcome. So many thanks to the whole team and a special thanks to Clare and Fran x

We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today - a bit pricey for the provinces perhaps, but such a change (and a joy) to be able to choose from inventive dishes one would never dream of making at home, all beautifully cooked and presented. Recommended!

Beautiful little hidden gem! Clean, beautifully presented Gastro pub. Food menu is insane, took ages to decide what to have. Settled for the burger, but boy was I pleasantly surprised. Loved it! Thanks for having us ☺️

We came back to The Hanger after a couple of years away and we weren't disappointed. We brought my in-laws who had never been and they were really impressed. Service was excellent and the food really top notch. 3 of us had the Wednesday deal....a meal from a section of the menu plus a drink for only £17.50. The beef burger was one of the best we've ever had. The scotch egg and croque madame starter were great too. Really lovely experience and we definitely won't be waiting so long to go back.

Lovely food, great atmosphere and service.

First off - this place isn't _that_ hard to find - I used Google maps and got there directly, the friend I was meeting used Google maps and found a road closed that seemingly wasn't picked up but he parked and walked and still made it on time - no worries there. The restaurant and bar are tastefully and modernly decorated, clean and tidy. There does, however, seem to be a fly problem and this does detract from a peaceful dining experience - the venue is clearly aware of this and have "fly scarers" (rotating shiny things) dotted around the place - I had to ask for one for our table though and the table next to us also requested one after they heard what they were for. Unfortunately this didn't prevent a fly ending up in a terminal backstroke in my co-diners wine glass - you can choose how picky you are about these things - but IMHO it takes the edge off enough for a non-5 star review. The food was good - I personally thought the "Crab Brulé" was superb, but was left a little underwhelmed after that with the fish (a little under seasoned - no salt or pepper on table) and the sticky toffee pudding which was OK but definitely needed more ice cream/cream to balance the dish. My dining companions were satisfied with their meals, but not blown away - again, nothing "wrong" per se, but just not quite 5 star worthy.

Saturday lunchtime visit to The Hanger for two adults and two children (and a dog). Sat in the bar area, atmosphere was great, food was outstanding - loved the selection of bar snacks we had as our starters! The kids (9 and 6) loved trying some of our food - especially the scotch egg and roasted broccoli but also thoroughly enjoyed their meals which were of an excellent standard - the massive added bonus being that kids currently eat free during August. Everything was sick high quality - also had an amazing coconut margarita and can’t wait to go back! Thoroughly recommend to everyone near and far!

Good place to eat and a comfortable atmosphere. In the dining room, the sun does shine straight into your eyes through the high glass wall, I suggest jumping ahead of your companion diner and let them face the sun ;-)

Loved the decor of the restaurant - very light and very spacious. The staff were very welcoming and attentive but not pushy in any way. Four of us all enjoyed the excellent and plentiful lunch. In current climate good value.

Nice pub decor lovely I just didn’t like the food much , maybe went on a bad night but burger was dry and crumbly and didn’t like the chocolate moose was very rich and runny not much like a moose My friend enjoyed her spritzer seemed quite a high price though

Not over impressed, expensive and too much messing with classic food.

Called in at The Hanger while walking in the area and looking for somewhere to stop in with our dogs Immediately upon arriving we were made to feel welcomed, reassured that our dogs (although a little mucky) were welcome, and shown to a seat in the bar area. Our drink orders were taken immediately and food menus supplied. The waitress was the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing and seemed to know the menu very well, offering her recommendations when we were unsure. The food was absolutely incredible, both myself and my Mum had the soup of the day (nettle and potato) and I'd be hard pressed to think of a soup I've had out that's nicer. I then had the spectacular steak and ale pie, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Definitely worth calling in on the way past, and we will be coming again (even if it means travelling to do so)

Had Sunday lunch here today. Wow. Such a generous serving, (rarely seen nowadays) excellent beef and loads of veg oh and the crispy potatoes ...! Definitely will return.

WE have been here many times for food and even more for a quick drink! The newly refurbished pub has been completed to an excellent standard and really creates a nice atmosphere dine and socialise in. The service was attentive and the food was excellent - no issues at all. There is a good selection of local ales and popular lagers as well as plenty of spirits!! The beer garden is split into two, one at the side (excellent for watching the world pass by!) and one at the back, which is small compared to other pubs in the area however this has never stopped us getting a seat. If you have visited this pub pre-refurbishment (formally the Red Lion) I would recommend visiting again as the improvements make it unrecognisable from what drab and dingy place it once was.

Booked for Pie and Pint for £15 Wednesday, and it didn’t disappoint. Pie was stunning, and you could tell everything was homemade. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Will 100% be returning for more pies and to try other parts of the menu! Sticky Toffee pudding was also a winner!

Visited whilst staying nearby on a weekend break. Ridiculously good burger, staff were friendly and inviting and made you feel welcome. The pub itself was clean and tidy and had a good playlist. We loved our visit and said they were the best burgers we’ve ever had!

Superb Sunday roast, the porchetta had great flavour and perfect crackling. Delicious gravy and all the sides were spot on - roasties, Yorkshire pud, cauliflower cheese and various other veg. Elegant and comfortable dining area and great service too what a treat ☺️

1st time to the Hanger. We were made very welcome as we had not booked. We all enjoyed our food very much and a very good choice.

First (but not the last) visit. Food was superb. After much deliberation I went for the Katsu Ling and it was excellent. Dessert also lived up to the high standards the owners have set. The pub itself is very well presented and new looking. Toilets were immaculate. Can't wait to visit again.
