Nathan Marshall at Plestor House in East Hampshire

Had to book far in advance bit we finally got to experience this amazing food. Beautifully tucked away Nathan Marshall at Clarke House has a lovely laid back atmosphere with amazing service and food.

Have tried to get in here for ages. They are booked way in advance, and finally, we had a memorable meal. Thank you all.

Tucked away in Liss just off the A3 is a really great restaurant waiting to be found. Some really solid and interesting cooking using some great ingredient’s. Canapés of Beetroot Arancini and Choux pastry with Parmesan was lovely and savoury. My starter called Oxtail puff was a Pitivier style puff pastry filled with shredded soft rich oxtail in the most delicious onion veloute….this was truly delicious, smooth and rich full of flavour and topped off with a slice of duck foie. The main of saddle of venison was cooked beautifully served with turnip and preserved plum and a small crisp samosa filled a rich stronger filling. We Finished on a beautifully light rhubarb soufflé served with a great rhubarb sorbet and torched lemon tart. The restaurant it self is small and seats about 16-20 and you feel like you have stumbled upon a hidden gem tucked away in the country side that people are keeping quiet.The service was relaxed and informal….pouring your own wine/water isn’t a problem. Places like Nathan’s don’t usually last long but they have proved that serving great food in an intimate setting works ….Go it’s well worth the effort…They have a strong following so booking a table can be a challenge.

The best restaurant in the area by a head and shoulders. Unsurprising it is so difficult to get a table but well worth the effort and wait.

We went here for a special lunch at the end of June and a month later we are still revelling in the memory of each dish we ate. It really was very special! Superb quality, presentation and innovation. Such professional and friendly service too We can't wait to go again.... although I think we will have to as there is a waiting list.

Absolutely delicious. A lot of work has clearly gone into preparing the menu, the flavours are absolutely unbelievable. Top notch service as well, 100% recommend.

My grandson treated me to a wonderful lunch at Nathan Marshall's. The food was delicious and the lovely lady serving us made the occasion extra special.

Have truly enjoyed lunch here with a group of freinds every 6 months or so since they opened... Even did a couple of zoom takeout meals during lockdown; Always been brilliant, Nathan is a truly talented chef and Evie uber efficient and friendly. Almost don't want to share this hidden gem incase we can't get a table in future. Deserves a star Mr Michelin man.

First meal at the restaurant since latest lockdown ended - we went for lunch this time - and what can I say, it was the same old same old IN THAT IT WAS AS SUPERB AS OUR LAST VISIT. From the welcome from Evi in front of house to the meal prepared by Nathan, yet another meal to wax lyrical about. Super friendly service, delicious meal, perfect sized helpings, dessert to die for, great wine & coffee to round it all off. Better than 5 stars. Roll on the next visit ...

We really don't want anyone else to find our treasure. It is small, and particularly under covid rules of reduced clients, it was hard to get a booking.

First dining experience at Nathan Marshall. Absolutely lovely. Wonderful food. Couldn't fault it. Scallops divine, Hake beautifully cooked. Wonderful fresh veg and wine to die for. Cheeseboard heaven. Clean food and exquisitely presented. Service was utterly charming.Only complaint is that tables are so hard to come by. Would love to eat there every week.

Enjoyable lunch , main courses could have been warmer for all diners. Flavours were excellent although the lamb was fatty. Very good value wine and an overall pleasurable experience, would go back.

Made a booking for three on re-opening night, was as per previous visits, truly exceptional, visited again yesterday, this time a table for four. Another great fine dining experience, even with the Covid restrictions which didn't inhibit the time spent in the restaurant at all. It's good that Nathan and Evi are booked several months ahead in these troubled times, we would hate to see them disappear. Five stars isn't really enough !

I have been waiting to go to this gem of a restaurant since before Christmas but always something seems to come up where I can’t go. However, yesterday was my day and boy was it worth it ... utterly delicious. Have booked again for 2 weeks time -to take my best friend for her 50th lunch- cannot fault anything and cannot wait. Thank you Evi and of course Chef (I need that pistachio soufflé in my life)

We are a group of 8 who had a fabulous evening in this amazing restaurant.Everything was perfect - outstanding service from Evi who is front of house while her husband Nathan produced delicious and beautifully presented dishes. The atmosphere is relaxed but homely. Highly recommend.

Wonderful and so nice to see a local husband and wife team making such a great restaurant based on local produce. Great Monkfish Starter followed by poached Guinea Fowl and then the amazing Apple Crumble Soufflé washed down with a very reasonably priced Chenin blanc from SA. A lovely place for lunch and dinner I wish them every success and will be back soon

As a chef myself ( yes I’m going to be that guy ), who holds 2 AA Rosettes , I cannot speak highly enough about Nathan and his wife. Inspired food , cooked with passion, skilfully presented. Faultless. I won’t go into detail about every dish , one couldn’t possibly do it justice in this forum. What I will say is ... Nathan cooks from the depths of his soul and we are honoured to dine at his table.

This small restaurant is perfect in every way. Run only by Nathan, chef, and his wife Evi, front of house, they provide a wonderful venue for exceptional meals. They have limited opening hours, check out their website, and you need to book well in advance. They do not list a vegan/vegetarian choice on their menu but will prepare a vegan/vegetarian meal/s if advised in advance. I was tempted not to write this review as I am afraid that they might become too popular and I won't be able to get a table.

This is a gem of a restaurant. From the moment you are welcomed by Evi you feel at ease and relaxed. The menu is so good it was hard to choose! Four choices for starter and main course with some specials also available. The food looks and tastes fantastic. Nathan selects the best of the best in terms of ingredients and makes it look so appetising. You leave happy and full! This is our second visit and we have already booked for our next visit as they are so busy. This restaurant gives you a fine dining experience within a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

We are unbelievably lucky to have this restaurant in our village. A close friend in the wine business said that he thinks that this is the best restaurant in Hampshire and I do not disagree.Where to start? Well, at the beginning, of course. You are welcomed into this small chic restaurant by Evi. She is quite amazing making every diner feel that he or she is the only one, quite a talent.On to the food. There is a small menu, three or four starters, same number of mains and desserts. There are also a few ‘specials’ on the chalkboard. The food is quite amazing! Nathan manages to extract every bit of flavour from every element of his dishes with nothing there just to ‘bulk up’ the plate. My only worry is that they could move on to bigger things ... but I hope that will not be for a while yet!

This restaurant had been recommended to us by friends. We'd also heard good reviews from others. We tried it and were not disappointed. The food is amazing - beautifully presented and delicious. Wow, what a joy once inside. A boutique restaurant that needed booking 2weeks in advance. Fabulous food and presentation expertly serviced by a husband and wife team who know their onions! Perfectly balanced menu with half a dozen options that suited our 4 guests, delightfully matched with wines to make the perfect lunch.Our first visit and definitely not the last - worth the journey from Haslemere!

Just amazing. Evi and Nathan are an extraordinary couple that have managed something magnificent in Liss at Plestor House. They are the embodiment of the word team. The menu is well thought out and an amazing mixture of culinary delight. I had the Sirloin off the specials board, and OMG! The starters to the Apple Crumble brûlée are just works of art to be admired before admittance that sets the taste buds trembling. This place will have a cult following in no time at all. If you can grab a spot for lunch or dinner, do it sooner rather than later. I see stars in their future. P.S. Evi/Nathan double your price, it’s too cheap for such amazing food.

If you haven't been you should, I've been to JSW a Michelin starred (or was) restaurant in petersfield and this is up there, if not better. Lovely food lovely atmosphere god help us when more people find them cos it's hard enough to get a table as it is. I can't recommendations it highly enough.

If you fancy eating at this outstanding restaurant you’ll need to get organised. I tried to book a table in October and was told nothing available on a Friday or Saturday night until 2020. However, it is worth the wait given what’s on offer. A small but perfectly balanced menu which changes depending on the local produce available. The restaurant is intimate and perfectly reflects the respective skill sets of Nathan and Evi - namely high quality cooking and hospitality.

Each course was impeccably presented and the flavour combinations were exceptional It’s not cheap , but then you get what you pay for Recommended for that Special Occasion

Took some friends for a meal here last week and we were not disappointed.The food was absolutely delicious and presented in an exceptional way .The beef was melt in the mouth delicious and my husband said the same of the parfait.We will certainly be returning again .

This is a fantastic restaurant. The food is clever, and not over-complicated. It’s very reasonable for the quality of the restaurant. Excellent service, a super wine list and as good for a special occasion as for an evening out with friends. Go soon whilst apple crumble soufflé is still on the menu !

8 of us had a super evening at this lovely little restaurant. Everything is done to the highest standards, white linen, sparkling glass ware, great lighting etc. The big question is how do they provide such an amazing experience with just the two of them? Chef working like crazy to turn out perfect plates of outstanding food whilst his wife ensures you are never short of anything. All done for a most reasonable price. It's a total gem of a place, reflected in the ratings. Thank you for a lovely time.

Oh my goodness, what an absolute delight to experience an evening here. There is little wonder that we needed to book weeks ahead. The whole evening was faultless. The food definitely deserved at least one Michelin Star with matching service and ambiance. Almost frightened to review as if it gets any more popular we’ll never get in.We are lucky to have eaten at some first class restaurants but this surpasses them all. Truly fabulous. thank you.

This was our first visit and it will certainly not be the last. Six of us arrived for lunch, we were waited on and served with great food and wine by the lady of the house. This is a restaurant of a very high standard and the owner who is the chef certainly deserves to be congratulated for the quality and presentation of his cuisine. David Taylor

I am a little afraid of writing about this restaurant as it is already difficult to get a booking! This place is a little gem run by husband and wife team Nathan and Evie. Nathan is an absolute star in the kitchen and every time we go we are amazed at the standard of the food. A visit is always a great pleasure and even before the food arrives we are greeted warmly by Evie who is quite superb as front of house.There is a small menu of four starters, four mains and four desserts augmented by ‘specials’ on the blackboard.If you have read the above I think that you will have got the impression that my wife and I absolutely love this restaurant and you would not be wrong. We have already made three further bookings!

I have eaten at Natham's on several occasions - all visits are memorable. The front of house is simply outstanding. The food cannot be bettered. Best restaurant outside London and better than most in London. All dishes are a delight

My fiancé and I went here to celebrate our anniversary and we weren’t disappointed in the slightest. Everything about this restaurant is amazing, from the hosting to each course. Nathan and Evie really know what they’re doing here. Evie is so welcoming and warm, taking a real interest in each and every person who walks through the door. Nathan has created amazing, tasty and well balanced dishes, all presented beautifully. Stand out dishes of the evening were the saddle of venison and the pistachio soufflé. The venison was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The meat samosa that accompanied it was incredible! Such delicate and delicious spicing. The pistachio soufflé was fluffy and light. It paired perfectly with the chocolate sorbet. My fiancé doesn’t usually like sweet nutty desserts, but happily shared this with me and said that he’d order his own one next time we visit! Nathan even decorated the plate with “Happy Anniversary” in chocolate, which was a lovely, thoughtful and delicious addition. Can’t wait to visit again! Evie and Nathan deserve a Michelin Star.

This is a small restaurant where both the food and service is of a very high standard. The stand out dishes were the Chicken Liver parfait, the Bang bang cauliflower (who knew cauliflower could be tasty?) and Jaffa Cake Tart. I would recommend a visit.

This was our second visit and did not disappoint. The atmosphere is lovely and the food wonderful - we look forward to our third visit in November! Evie is just the perfect hostess/waitress.

We luckily managed to book last minute for lunch after a random recommendation from a stranger. We were blown away by the delicious food, warm attentive service and all round fantastic experience provided by Nathan and Evie. Presentation of the dishes was a delight and the flavours were just divine - up to standard we have experienced in Michelin restaurants. Stand out dishes were chicken liver parfait, pan fried hake and pistachio souffle. We highly recommend. Thankyou for the hard work and passion so obviously put in by this team.

We've enjoyed Nathan's food for many years at the L.H Hotel and are so pleased that he and Evi have now opened their own restaurant. The food was fresh and tasty and beautifully presented. Service from the lovely Evi was excellent. Together Nathan and Evi are a perfect combination and I'm sure we'll be returning time and again. Such a great little restaurant deserves to be a success. Having seen such positive reviews we were eager to try here. We were not disappointed and we will be back again. All four of us were so pleased with our choices. Evie, front of house, kept everything flowing and expertly guided us through the evening without rushing us. Nathan, in control of the kitchen, worked wonders on our tastebuds and the souffle..... Oh wow! Booking essential.

An intimate restaurant, which has a lovely relaxed feel to it. Not stuffy more welcoming to all. I went with my boys and the owner was so hospitable and helpful explaining areas of the menu that they felt very comfortable from the start. The menu is well put together with some great dishes. This may be a relatively new restaurant but the guys know what they are doing and are destined for success and a very busy restaurant. I will be watching out for the awards and will be returning.

Went for dinner with our son and his partner when we were staying with them in West Liss. Well, what a fabulous dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious and so flavoursome. Nathan and Evie have got this spot on. The four of us had different starters and for the main two had the Pork and two had the Lamb. We had four different Desserts and all of them were to die for. All this is coupled with the extensive wine list that would suit anyone’s taste and wallet. The service was equally excellent and Evie made you feel most welcome and attentive throughout the whole meal in a very discreet way. This is a small restaurant and only open on certain days for dinner and lunch so booking is absolutely essential. Wished we lived in the South of England so we could eat at this restaurant more often! You must go. You will not be disappointed

I was lucky enough to visit Plestor House for lunch yesterday . It was perfect in every way . Delicious food cooked by chef Nathan Marshall and excellent service by lovely Evi. I would highly recommend a visit and will be back

I took my wife and son here for lunch on my wife’s birthday. What can I say? Light dishes, with beautifully paired ingredients. Confit of chicken in her case, slightly crusty, lamb in mine (perfectly matching an aubergine purée). A couple of minor suggestions - First, the menu could use a bit more explanation. So, for example, the trout currently in the starters is raw and encrusted in herbs. I thought it was fabulous, but some might be taken aback. And the “crispy egg” with the asparagus is soft boiled and covered in crispy breadcrumbs. Also, there isn’t much choice for vegetarians. My son was offered a very good onion and goats cheese tart, but otherwise at present he would have been a bit stuck because he doesn’t eat asparagus and it was hard to avoid. But these are small points. We were pleased and impressed and we’ll be back. Oh, and the cost? Just under £30 each, including a glass of wine each. Service is extra, though perhaps not strictly needed as I think it’s staffed by the owners (at lunchtime at least).

Wow! At last, a really classy restaurant within easy reach of Farnham. We went with friends last week, and had a superb meal, in an elegant setting, with delightful service. We hope that Nathan and Evie continue their successful venture in bringing first-class dining with a friendly face to Liss and beyond.

What a fabulous place this is. You need to book well in advance and you can understand why. Evie was most welcoming on our arrival and seated us at a table by the window which was perfect. Nathan creates masterpieces in the tiny space of his kitchen. We will be back again many more times. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Mr B and I have been hearing great things about this restaurant. We had to make a reservation and we were not disappointed.This is a small space, only seating 20. The tables are far enough apart that you are not intruding upon your fellow diners.The ambiance is fabulous. We were warmly greeted by Evi. She is polite, knowledgeable and very efficient.All of the food we ate was beautiful in both taste and presentation.Nathan and Evi must be credited to have created such a great restaurant.We are looking forward to returning as it was such a lovely experience.

Went to this restaurant with a party of 8 and I can't compliment this place enough!The front of house service was friendly and efficient and the food was outstanding. We had the most delicious lunch here today! We chose the set lunch menu and had 3 absolutely mouth watering courses! Wonderful crispy croquettes packed with flavour, a wonderfully comforting fish pie (perfect for today’s rainy day), crisp, succulent chicken kiev, light and refreshing vanilla parfait and strawberry Elton mess with the best meringue I have ever eaten! Evi was a lovely host and Nathan is obviously a very talented chef. Can’t wait to try out the evening menu! We will definitely be going back. Thanks Evi and Nathan.

This new restaurant is creating quite a buzz locally so we decided we must give it a go. At the risk of going into too many superlatives, I can say that it was truly outstanding in every respect. Warm airy ambience with just the right level of background music and conversation from other tables. A delightful Evi who looks after front of house in a welcoming and efficient way. Superb food, too many good things to say really, but particularly loved the plaice main course and the amazing banana soufflé - really exceptional cooking by any standard. Not surprising they are booked out at weekends for weeks to come. Well done!

Visited this amazing restaurant last night and we were completely impressed with the ambience, service, atmosphere and very importantly the food and presentation. We had been recommended and taking friends there was a pressure as unknown to us but shouldn’t have worried as everything was perfect and would have no hesitation whatever recommending this to anyone.Food is to die for !! We had tried to get in at Nathan Marshall a couple of times but it was always fully booked. I emailed and asked if they would call me should they have a cancellation. Which they did. A small but perfectly laid out restaurant, wonderful ambience, beautifully prepared food and first class service. We can't wait to visit again.

We loved the atmosphere here and the service was excellent, as was the meal. The only adverse comment I would make was that the main course portions of meat or fish were very small for the prices that are charged.

One of my friends suggested this place and I popped in for a lunch (without booking) on a tuesday. And what a good decision was that...Evi the waitress is a really lovely and helpful person and I must say Nathan is a top notch chef..the service and the meal was spotlessly perfect...Can't suggest them enough and can't wait to eat there again..A little diamond in Liss..

Popped in here for lunch at this recently opened restaurant. It is only a few minutes walk from us and I am sure will become a regular haunt. Delicious food perfectly cooked and friendly service. Best lemon tart I have tasted in my whole life! Amazing value for money too.

The food is amazing, very reasonably priced for fine dining, very relaxed service. Can't recommend it enough, both Nathan and Evi are very welcoming, we will definitely be back even though it's over an hour away from home.

I cannot express enough how impressed myself and my partner were with this restaurant run by a husband and wife team. Every element of the dining experience was second to none, from the caring and attentive service to the exquisite food. We were delighted to be served several hors d'oeuvre before our starters which were a delicious and well received surprise. It certainly got the meal off to a great start! Starters - My partner opted for the deep filled mushroom raviolo which she surprisingly allowed me to try!! I will certainly be having this for myself when we return as both the filling and the truffle sauce had amazing flavour. The scallops were presented beautifully and tasted incredible - would highly recommend. Mains - Despite the tempting variety of main dishes on offer (from both the Menu and the specials board) We both went for the ‘Creedy Carver’ duck breasts, which were cooked to perfection. Desserts - By this stage I was very full, however I couldn’t resist the Banana Soufflé with Chocolate Sorbet and I am so glad! The soufflé was so light and the sorbet is unlike any I have had before. We really could not recommend this restaurant enough and would encourage anyone to go along and try it if you’re looking for a special date night meal.

Great food and excellent wine, the ambiance and atmosphere made the evening a success. Nathan’s food beats most restaurants in London’s West End and Eva organised the restaurant with style and efficiency. Certainly visit again, very soon.

We’ve just returned from a lovely dinner at this new restaurant. Excellent food , good service and good pricing . What’s not to like ! We’ll certainly return.

Excellent meal! This little restaurant is a gem to be discovered, I'm glad we did! The Husband and wife team running it are really passionate about what they do, the food and the service are second to none, for my main course I had the pork dish, superb, and the rum buba for dessert was also very nice. Wine list is still a working progress but, what's on offer is good and I have found a red from southern Italy that was just stunning! We will be back for sure.

This is a restaurant that take food seriously. Everything is very attractive from the bon bouche to the desserts. Flavors and sauces were carefully put to together to have an individual touch of the chef, without being gimmicky or deliberately challenging.The ravioli had a different twist, more like a pasta cased deep filled pie than a traditional ravioli and had great flavors. The duck was cooked to perfection.Thew wine list is quite short and carefully chosen. Its well priced and has by the glass options for many things. The Cline Lodi Zinfandel was excellent and paired with the duck and did not overwhelm the starters.This is the best restaurant around for miles!

We were totally delighted with our evening at Nathan Marshall from the moment we arrived. The menu is interesting; the pairing of sauces with meat/fish and vegetarian option has been thoughtfully presented with delicious flavours. Evie is excellent as front of house and Nathan is obviously an excellent chef who clearly excels in sending his guests home happy,

2 of us visited nathan marshalls restaurant and found the service and food to be excellent every dish cooked to perfection and service to match. we highly recommend this restaurant for me the highlight was the duck absolutely delicious and my partner was the mushroom ravioli.we wish them every success in liss ,it's a must try restaurant. thanks for an excellent meal.

My wife and I visited Nathan Marshall’s restaurant at Plestor House for lunch today and were very impressed. Nathan is an excellent chef with a great attention to detail.This restaurant has taken over from the Blue Fig which closed last month. We were greatly impressed by the warm and friendly Evi who runs front of house very efficiently. On to the food, my wife had the broccoli velouté and I had the scallops with leeks, both of which were quite perfect. My wife said that her brill was delicious and she was pleased that she saved some of her sourdough bread to mop up the sauce. My Tasting of Pork was sublime.This was a first visit to Nathan and Evi’s restaurant but We will now become regulars. Welcome to Liss!

We ate here last weekend and we were all very impressed. Nathan and Evi are so warm and welcoming and the food was not only beautifully presented but it tasted wonderful too. Definitely book if you are going as they were full on Saturday night (we had booked) and we will be back, that’s for sure.
