The Handpost in Newport

Picked 4 meals from the 2 meals for £14 section on the menu, only to find out when we went to pay that 3 of the 4 meals under that section were not part of the deal! & had to pay extra £10. Why put them under the heading of 2 meals for £14 when they don't qualify. On speaking to the barmaid that served us, was told that they have had a lot of complaints about that, but there was nothing she could do! I think there is, take the non qualifying meals off! So misleading and needless to say, you have lost our future custom

Went for Sunday lunch was the worst meal l have ever had all pre packed food not traditional at all chicken came with pepper all over it was told that's how it comes

I was visiting the area and so googled Sunday lunch nearby. Oh my goodness, outstanding. Option of Beef, chicken Lamb or Pork (Lamb and pork changes every Sunday) with veg and paid extras if wanted. A very warm welcome, 10/10 service. Reasonable priced. Will make a point of going back. Thank you x x

Friendly staff, good gravy, and plenty of vegetables. A decent Sunday Lunch. Not expensive for what we got.

Had a lovely Sunday roast. Good service and very quick serving even though busy. Will come again..good atmosphere. Very pleasant cost pub and fab decor.

I booked the handpost on the 11th September for my wife's birthday and invited 25 people for Sunday dinner well the food was on the table minutes after ordering the food was hot and everything you want for Sunday dinner lots of veg served separately lovely gravy served in a jug plenty of room staff were very quick helpful funny and did everything to make our day special thankyou handpost you were brilliant

A great visit very nice outside area with clean tables which is rare in pubs today and friendly staff Katie was a star will be back again and will tell my friends thank you handpost for a great night

Super well maintained and immaculate pub both inside and out where the staff are friendly and welcoming we had the best best fish and chips ever experienced in a pub with its light and crispy home made batter complementing the very large piece of cod.

Good BLT sandwich. Pleasant service. It was a cold wet lunchtime and pubs decor looked a bit tired. Probably would not rush back.

Turn up the heating. We all had to sit in our winter coats. Beer expensive compared to town too. ...........................

Last minute booking for 8 of us for Sunday lunch as let down by pub with our original booking - have to say glad we were let down by the other pub as the Sunday lunch here was fabulous with plenty of vegetables and gravy and they also do extras like pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese, extra yorkshires and stuffing etc. Food was plentiful, hot and beautifully cooked and the staff couldn't do enough for us - will definitely be returning.

A sunny place to relax in the garden to the side. Mostly paved with steps but quite a sun trap in the afternoon.

Travelled for work after a gruelling day this pub had a great atmosphere but the jewel was the food second to none will definitely visit again

Always a fresh and cold pint of Stella on tap. A clean place improved greatly over the last few years.

If you fancy a traditional Sunday roast this is the place. Alison the chef cooks a roast like a real home roast, its the closest I have had to a home cooked roast. Sarah the waitress makes you feel welcome and is warm and welcoming. I recommend the Lamb.
