Absolutely disgusting! 2 potions of calamari and a portion of chips ended up in the bin immediately. All I felt was salt and thick rock batter! Total waste of money! But I guess in a crowded street and a beach next to it, it will always survive. Never again.

Popped in at 1700 for food after a lovely beach day. Asked for a cheeseburger. They said they had ran out. (Opened at 1600). Asked for a chicken burger. Received a dry bun and a piece of watery chicken. Sauces given to make your own basically. No lettuce, no cheese etc. Really basic, wouldn’t recommend

After a busy day out in Cornwall I really fancied fish and chips on the beach, luckily for us there was a car park near The Haddock's End and we sat on a bench to eat our meal. The fish was freshly cooked and succulent, the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the centre. As the cost of fish and chips locally, has risen dramatically, I was expecting the prices to be hugely expensive, however, the costs are justified for such a delicious meal. A second visit later in the week was just as delicious with other items of food purchased. This is the place to purchase your fish and chip supper when visiting Perranporth.

just an average pub for food. but it is clean and easy to get to .menu a bit limited. but as got a good outside space.

Been coming here for 4 years and had no problems until this year. Chips have been cold on numerous occasions. The last 2 times the chips also had a burnt oil taste and the battered sausage was stone cold. I've also not liked the cheese the past 2 times. Possibly a different brand? Will have to unfortunately go over to Pick Wicks which I really don't want to do. Then perhaps I'll try you again in the new year .

All the family wanted fish & chips, cod & chips was amazing and tasty. Kids enjoyed the chips. We had curry sauce & gravy, the curry was good but the gravy was just a bisto so wouldn't order again! Portion size good but didn't have fish skin which I like but would definitely come back & order again. Perfect location

Lovely fish and chips staying 2 miles up the road still warm when got back. Nice crispy batter, lovely fish and great chips. Also saw them keep food warm for someone who was not there when called to collect, they didn't just shove them to the side they kept the food warm. Excellent customer service. Only if any bad feedback they had no buns for burgers not at fault here a supplier issue. Overall recommended thank you!

Terrible food fish was still frozen chips had been sat there for a long time as they was soggy and cold and the bold gentleman named Steve was very rude and arrogant hasn't the faintest clue how to run a business

Expensive food and low taste with poor quality added in for good measure. Don't waste your time going here unless you like eating cardboard. Clearly set up to serve tourists that want something to eat quickly.

Visited with my young son, told by staff the chips were gluten free only for them to make him poorly. Should not be allowed to advertise something that isn’t true, cross contamination at its finest! Rest of holiday ruined, cheers

Had a take away from here and the fish was amazing. Hot and a huge crispy portion. Definitely worth a visit you wont be disappointed

Visited Friday 31/07/2020. Purchased over £38 worth of Fish 'n' Chips. Part of the order was Calamari. When I started eating it I found a long hair embedded in the batter. On returning it I was told by the shaved head gentleman behind the counter that "I was trying it on and the hair could have come form anywhere". When I tried to explain to him the hair as embedded in the batter he turned his back and ignored me.If this is his approach to food hygiene I think you might wan to avoid this place.

We regularly eat here and have to say its the best fish and chips in the village, possibly Cornwall! Have to disagree with the last comment. The chips here are clearly hand cut and fresh, definitely not frozen, we've been impressed every time. Portions are large, and fish cooked to order. Batter is always crispy. No soggy bottoms here! Staff always friendly and they appear to be well set up during Covid, with perspex screens, staff distancing, and while we waited for our order, the lady on the till used hand sanitiser every time she handled cash. Thumbs up from us. We will be back!

Large portions, lovely crispy and light batter, chips to die for, beautiful white and perfectly cooked cod. Excellent.

I ordered haddock and chips x2 last Monday lunchtime. The fish was cooked as I waited and the chips were already cookedVerdict. Very poor probably the worst fish and chips I have ever eaten and most of it was thrown away.Fish was under cooked and the batter was soft and not good to eat, chips were ok but only warm not hotWill not be using this establishment again

The curry sauce here is lovely and both kids enjoyed the nugget children’s meal very much. The batter is nice and light and the fish is lovely too.

We stopped here for lunch and had great fish and chips, the only reason I didn’t give it 5 marks was my batter could have been a bit bubbler. Would eat though again.

Visited as a last minute (starving kids!!). We sat in side which is small but friendly and cosy. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the service was timely. Ordered fish and chips and we were not disappointed, they were beautiful. We had early that week visited Rick Stein's and The Haddock End blew them out of the water and at a fraction of the price. We will definitely be visiting again the next time we are in cornwall.

Friendly staff, quick and efficient service, fantastic food. You possibly could do with holding more food, due to people waiting, although customers really don’t mind waiting, when the staff are courteous and the food is top notch 🌟

Very good service and the haddock was good. Staff helpful and can cope when very busy, The batter on the fish was good but you need lots of vinegar to cut the fat.There is a great range of other food available on the menu. Oh. I almost forgot the mushy peas which as always were good.

Word of warning it's not cheap! That said we go back each year as the fish and chips are brilliant. Nearly always a que but they get through it quickly.

Queue outside this place was always big so thought that was a good sign, how wrong was we....Ordered 2 pieces of fish, sausage, sausage in batter and pie and 4 portions of chips for the 6 of usGot back to our lodge and we had 1 piece of fish and both sausages no pie and no second piece of fish but was too far to drive backFish was tasteless and the 4 portions of chips were so small they would have served 3 people at maxWould not go here again

We’ve ate twice here, sausage and chips then fish and chips and both didn’t disappoint any of us! The best in Cornwall we’ve found on this holiday. Would definitely recommend wether it’s lunch or dinner and the curry sauce was amazing too!

The food was nice however the customer service was awful. There is a restaurant attached to the takeaway. I asked the man in the takeaway if there was a toilet and he said no however there was in the restaurant which was labelled ‘customer use only’ therefore I think this answer was poor as we were customers. I also asked for some gravy on my chips to which his reply was we only do pots(such a rip off as was over £1 for some gravy to go with my £1.50 chips). We then went to sit on the small tables outside the restaurant to which the woman said we couldn’t sit there which was very unreasonable due to the fact there was only 3 people in the restaurant. Overall the customer service was awful and it was definitely not ‘service with a smile’. I would recommend going somewhere else where they appreciate your custom.

Great fish & chips, the best we have had in Perranporth and so close to the beach it would be a crime not to eat them there.

This place does the best Sausage chips and gravy, also their cheesy chips are delicious too. Not too expensive either.

We stopped here several times during our holiday to get some chips for lunch. Service was always really friendly and welcoming and the chips were really good. Great place to stop.

The fish is freshly cooked-to-order (so you might have to wait a few minutes), the chips are good as well - but great quality, well worth the wait! Great selection of hot food and pies, etc. as well.

Probably one of the best fish & chip shops we have been to. All freshly cooked. Yes there might be a wait of 10 minutes or so, but the fish is well worth it. We had fish and chips and the kids had sausage and chips. We sat by the lake enjoyed our food whilst watching the world go by. Wasn't sure if this was just a one-off, but we went back last weekend, and found the fish to be of equally excellent standard. Good job we don't live here, because we would seriously be getting too many calories here :-)

A trip to the seaside needs Fish & Chips. At £14.20 for two, we thought it a bit steep and it wasn't the best. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it could have been better.

The chips are really nice. I wouldn't recommend the saveloys though. An odd taste... The service is quick and at last.... if you want extra salt & vinegar you can have that. Hooray 😁

I have purchased take away from this shop on a few occasions sometimes the food as been good but on one occasion the fish and chips were very greasy

Fantastic fish and chips huge portions. Couldnt fault anything. Fish was beatifully cooked, batter was light and crispy. Everything was fresh and hadn't been standing about for ages.

Don't miss going here if you're in Perranporth! It's only a few steps away from the beach. We had cod and chips, and both were top notch. The cod was so beautifully cooked and was really moist and full of flavour with perfect batter, chips were lovely too.

Whilst visiting Perranporth for a couple of days we decided to get a takeaway to take to our accommodation. I have severe food allergies, so asked the chap behind the counter if he could tell me if I needed to avoid any of the products. He didn’t know so asked a colleague, who didn’t know either. When I pointed out that it is the law to be able to provide this information I was told “I don’t know where he keeps it”. The law is quite specific in what food providers have to know - including their employees and they have failed miserably today. This isn’t on and could cause potential huge harm if they cannot provide this information. I didn’t risk eating here, so had to go round the corner to another establishment who were brilliant.

Only bought 2 portions of chips and the size of the portions was very small for the price. Service average. Fortunately the chips were tasty,

We purchased battered sausages and chips here this evening to take on the beach with us. Only downside was the batter was soggy not crispy as you would expect, having said that the food was very much enjoyed and saved me from cooking !

We ate in the sit down part of the shop & its one of the best bits of battered cod I've had in years, including in many gastro pubs that think they do this sort of thing better - beautiful flaky fish with lovely light crisp melt in the mouth batter.

Stopped here for an unexpected tea after a busy day..... fish/sausage/nuggets/scampi all nice, chips nice and crispy. Reasonably priced. Staff pleasant but not overly friendly. Wait time approx 5 mins.

We went here twice as we thought their fish and chips were good quality. They are not stingy and they taste great. This place is right by the beach and you can sit by the seaside, just watch out for the seagulls. If you're in Perranporth check out this chippy.

We had a takeaway fish n chips from here a few days ago, one of the party not overly keen on fish or chips as they always dried out fish with greasy batter and chips.... how we were shocked! The fish was perfectly white, waxy, with a good crisp batter around. It was also a huge piece of cod, double the size of other places around. Chips ok, bit white and dry, but the fish stole the thunder anyway! We will be back!

I have to admit I was so pleasantly surprised by these fisha nd chips, the chips were perfectly cooked (not pale and floppy as is so often the case these days) but the fish, oh my, lovely crisp melt in the mouth batter, simply delicious, will definitely be back for more next year

What a fantastic end to a lovely hot summers day, spent the day on the beach and then picked up chips and a curry sauce from the Haddock End drove up to the top of Perranporth and enjoyed the delicious chips looking out over the sea - absolutely great.

Fish and chips at the beach front in Perranporth. Not the best ever but pretty decent. Really big piece of cod, freshly cooked, batter not too thick but slightly greasy. Location for eating at the beach and watching the world go by was great.

We had a take away from here on several occasions during our holiday. Cooked fresh, excellent quality, consistent and value for money. Wonderful service.

The fish and chips are to die for. Not as expensive as you would think for being a tourist place. Well worth a visit but beware of the seagulls when eating by the beach

Great fish and chips. Throughly enjoyed every mouthful. Lovely friendly staff. Found this place after being turned away from Pickwicks who were closing at a seaside resort, on a Saturday night at 7pm !!! This shop will get my business from now on for sure.

Food is fairly good and served by friendly Staff but you can get better value and quality elsewhere in Perranporth

Absolutely beautiful cod and chips made fresh while we waited. The fish was cooked to perfection and served in cardboard trays rather than polystyrene which was great.

Great chips a minute from the beach, we often get chips here and sit and watch the sea roll in. Great tasting, not massive portions if you like a lot of chips, but enough to be satisfied.

We had our seaside fish and chips last night. Fish tasted good, price was ok, but the chips tasted terrible.

I'm not one to usually leave reviews but after tonight's service I feel I must. I'm local to Perranporth and have been going to this joint for the best part of 3 years. To be fair I've never had a problem with the food either, however on arriving this evening and making a £15 order to who i presume was the owner/manager I found that my Lloyds card wouldn't work on their machine. I was rudely directed to the nearest cash point under the presumption I didn't know where I was going. Anyway a short walk later I realised my card had truly 'had it' and proceeded to log onto my internet banking to transfer into another account. On return I spoke to a younger chap who was perfectly pleasant, explained the situation and got my other card out. It was at this point the before said manager/owner yelled across the restaurant "OI THAT CARD DOESN'T WORK" to which I replied "It's a new one.." He stood there with a big smug smile wiped across his face and replied with "We'll see".By this point the contactless payment had gone through and the younger chap looked quite mortified. In all the years I have never been treated like this anywhere! We go to this place all year round gladly supporting our local businesses when our business is needed the most and honestly now, I will never be going back. Cheers and gone!

This is what's wrong with ta, I recall the previous posts events and can I say sir, you and your family were nothing but vile towards the staff who were doing everything to accommodate you, we had fish and chips from here and they were the best we've ever had , keep up the good work

We ordered 3 portions of chips, a portion of gravy and individual fish/scampi for five people. The blond girl serving had a face like a smacked behind from the start - maybe because it was near closing time. They first told us there was no gravy - fair enough, things run out - but then added it to the bill. The sour blonde claimed to have given our change to my daughter, which was not true, then attempted to short-change us. When we politely put her straight she shot dagger-looks at her male colleague, then when our food arrived slapped it onto the counter in front of us. The older guy (the owner?) came out and muttered about it being "what you get at this time of year" to the staff - I take it he was referring to us, his paying customers. They were very lucky I didn't simply demand our money back and walk away. If you don't want to deal with people, then don't work in a retail environment, you fat idiots. After all that the food was at best mediocre.

The fish was really fresh and tasty, no greasy residue on the batter. There was a bit of a wait and no seating so you have to pick a spot to go to, but there are plenty of those.

I bought fish cakes and chips and a chicken burger ( I really wanted a pasty but they didn't have any ) The fish cake according to my partner was lovely, the chips were mediocre and the chicken burger was a small piece of breaded chicken in a dry bun with a sachet of mayonnaise . Luckily I tore the piece of chicken in half before biting into it ; It wasn't cooked right through with pink bits and blood showing. I returned to the cafe and was offered a replacement but decided to have a sausage instead, that was slightly better but not good value. i certainly wont be returning.

Wow, previous reviews were right, perhaps we should have read them before...Small chips elsewhere classed and charged as a large here. Greasy, soggy chips and whilst fish was ok it was again greasy...didn't finish, won't be back, do they care? Probably not as another family will be along soon enough. Much improvement needed.

Visited for a portion of chips. The 'large' was the same as a lot of places 'small' size and the taste of the chips wasn't good. Very disappointing. The curry sauce was very good though

It was Sunday evening and everywhere was starting to wind down. We were booked on the plane to Alicante later in the eveningand wanted one last taste of English food for a few months. This place hit the spot. Very tasty freshly cooked cod and chips. The fish batter was excellent and for those who are hungry there is a large cod option. The chips were excellent. It's situated just near the car park.Recommended

If you fancy some nice fish & chips in Perranporth then visit Hadock End in beach Road. Their fish is lovely & fresh & covered in a crisp golden batter, their chips are nicely cooked too & all at a very reasonable price,this place is well worth a visit.

Good range of food cooked to order. No restaurant, but very close to the sea front and car park. Open all year round

Ordered cod chips and curry sauce we got lovely cod and chips although cod not very big but nice all the same but given mushy peas instead of curry sauce and that is criminal she should have been sentenced to hard labour in bodmin jail for that error . Very friendly place and would use again but will check my order as nobody should be given mushy peas .

Stopped in for chips all round after watching sunset from the beach.Appealing entrance, friendly staff and yummy chips reasonably priced.Didn't have room for any more so couldn't comment on other food, but what we did have was lovely.

The X large cod you will love, thick fillet, and very moist, and great batter, and you never regret it after you eat it!Deep fried mushy peas if you fancy it too, all orders freshly cooked as you order it, the queue outside tells you how popular this venue is, so make sure you get there before 8 pm as it shuts . If you miss this fish it will be the " one that got away"

We had fish and chips here on Sunday. Looking at the reviews we were reluctant but went anyway. The lad who served us was great and the fish and chips just cooked and very nice. Would definitely go again.

We were drawn to the Haddock End by the appearance / shop frontage - looks are deceiving and we were so disappointed with the food. The fish was too dry, I assumed it was cooked fresh as there were none on display. My partner had a pie which was over cooked and also dry. Will definitely try other establishments next time. We were on holiday & looked forward to "proper fish and chips" by the sea but they taste much nicer at home which is in the landlocked Midlands.

I visited here on Monday eve with my sister and son. We had one cod, chips & mushy peas. One chips and curry sauce and 2 drinks .. Just over £12. The fish was absolutely amazing! Best I've had in ages, perfect golden crispy batter. The mushy peas were good BUT unfortunately, half way through my chips I came across a black hair !!! The rest of my food went straight in the bin unfortunately, we were going to go back to complain but the line was huge and it wasn't worth the hassle.I didn't see the 2 people on the fryers wearing any hats or netting and the ladies serving us weren't either.. I know from working in a hospitality that having your hair up alone isn't enough to stop hairs falling into food so maybe they should be doing more too stop this from happening in the future..

Chips tasted like the oil hadn't been changed for some time, or some other wierdness. Fish was overcooked and cold. Wont be returning.
