Service at dinner was pretty poor to be honest. One meal came out with nuts and we told the waiter please no nuts. He apologised profusely but said it was the chefs fault. So off that meal went while the other three had our meals going cold. We also ordered chips that came out literally half way through eating our meals. Then there was a dropped tray with 2 drinks on it all over one of the ladies next to us. Glass everywhere etc etc. she delt with it amazingly and said “don’t freak out” to the waitress as she was clearing it up. All the way through dinner NOBODY AT ALL ASKED if we were ok? Would you like any more drinks? Nothing! We had to ask for more drinks and even then they came 15 mins later. Then To add salt to the wound the bill arrives with a £20 service charge. To sum it all up…. Amazing food 10/10 Amazing place 10/10 Price well, it is what it is EXPENSIVE but that’s another reason we all felt let done with the service. A real shame as a lot of time, effort and money has been spent on this place but maybe the staff need more training? It was a Friday night but the place was far from full. A real shame.

No surprise this hotel does not figure in the top ten. There are plenty of staff but they seem to aimlessly wander about talking to each other. The lunch and day menu is inadequate and boring. The staff are not up to speed about what is available, and when I asked what ‘gluten free’ plates there were they all ran away to hide! (Well, they didn’t come back). So I left and had fantastic Fish and Chips at Gylly Cafe.

Sunday roast was exceedingly great and enjoyable with my best friend who was visiting for the weekend in Cornwall. A few drinks and good wine and the Sunday roast was really enjoyable and delicious which we both enjoyed and completed the meal with a lovely dessert. We will return sooner rather than later. I don't often write reviews but after another disappointing visit I feel something needs to be said. I visited the restaurant for a coffee on Wednesday 10th April with my mother in law and 16 month old and was told to take a seat for table service . After 20 minutes noone came. There were staff milling about and seemingly free, they certainly didn't appear rushed off their feet. ( Someone who sat down after me received table service for a drink and chips. ) I enquired as to what the delay was and in doing so decided it would be quicker to place my order at the bar. A further 15 minutes passed and still no coffees. I asked again and the waiter said he would make them now. By this time my son had also had enough of waiting and had become difficult to entertain. I asked for a refund and the details of the manager in order to voice my disappointment at the lack of service. My details were taken and I was assured 'Phil' the restaurant manager would email me. A week later and Unsurprisingly I've had nothing. This is the second time this has happened and in very similar circumstances. The staff just aren't paying attention to the customers. A couple of coffees isn't much to ask for, especially in one of the biggest hotels in Falmouth. My husband and I have been coming here as locals for years and it seems the lapse in service has coincided with the expansion of the hotel . If popping in for a " quick drink" means waiting for hours for someone to take our order we will have to consider going elsewhere .

We made a reservation and were so looking forward to our dinner after staying at the resort. We were told that our server was new so we assumed someone would be helping her. Our meal took over 2.5 hours. We had to ask for water twice and waited almost an hour for just our appetizers. When the bill finally arrived, we were charged for a 4th meal that we didn’t order which was 45 pounds. We told the waitress that we were overcharged and she said she would check on it. Another server came over to justify the charge. I explained that we only had 3 people, not 4. After arguing with her for several minutes, she realized we were overcharged and went to fix our bill. The food was good, but the service was horrible and took way too long, especially for the cost. 4 tables came and went while we were still waiting for our food. We will not return due to the terrible service which is sad since the food was good. Not worth the price though.

We booked a table at the ‘Brasserie on the Bay’ based on the expectations of first-class fare engendered by their website, but paid little attention to the ‘at St Michael’s Resort’ after the restaurant name. That was a mistake. It turned out that the restaurant was in fact the eatery for what passes as a four-star hotel in Falmouth – a testament to the spectacularly modest expectations of the average British holidaymaker. So, the point is that it was incredibly hard to find unless you knew that the eatery was in fact hidden within the confines of another building. The ‘quality mark’ of St.Michael’s Resort is betrayed by the fact that the ‘hotel’ car park is in fact managed by one of those rapacious companies who use ANPR, charge outrageous fees for parking, or levy even more outrageous fines for motorists foolish enough to think that a decent restaurant wouldn’t be cheap enough to charge its customers for parking. The restaurant itself was pleasant enough but our suspicions were raised by the teenage staff who were somewhat disengaged, like they’d been asked to work on their day off. Then our suspicions were confirmed when we saw the ‘menu’. I guess it still did qualify as a ‘menu’ because there were three choices for starter, and three for dessert…but the qualifying characteristic of a restaurant (I believe) is that you should have more choices other than ‘roast meat’ (or nut cutlet for vegetarians). The starters were, in fact, passably good and nicely presented but the roast was about as ordinary as you could possibly hope to get and the nut cutlet dry. In fact, most people’s nan would have done a better job. So, providing you’ve dialled down your expectations to their minimum setting you’ll not be disappointed.

Wouldn’t normally write a review but felt obliged to after todays visit. I booked in for breakfast for Mother’s Day, as non hotel guests. Managed to get a seat next to the window which was the best bit. Had a cooked breakfast myself which was nice, but very simple and small (one sausage, two small tomatoes, one slice of bacon, one hash brown and a small pot of beans). Upon paying, the amount charged for one breakfast was £20! I questioned this, to which the reply from the member of staff was ‘hotel prices’ with a shrug of his shoulders. I further questioned how a small cooked breakfast could cost £20, and the reasoning was, that if I wanted, I could’ve had the all you can eat continental as well! A little late for that but a fair point, perhaps could be made clearer, or a separate price for one or the other? Sadly St Michael’s continues to go down in my expectations.

When you book your table they ask for requests etc. I asked for a table with a view. When we arrived no reference was made to my request and my wife and I were show to a very average table. We were given the Menu’s and Wine list, given some water, no jugs available, and sat. Eventually the waitress came over and enquired as to what we wished to eat, I ask if we could have a bottle of wine, I do like to have a drink of something other than water when considering a Menu. Time past and eventually we got our wine. The restaurant ambiance and decor is excellent. We had starters - very good. As a main Caroline ordered the Sweet and Sour Goan Fish Curry. What turned up was the vegetarian version, the waitress checked and had written down the wrong dish. Unfortunately the dish did not taste of Sweet and Sour and seemed to have no spice content so was basically ratatouille and a great pile of unappetising white rice. My Belly Pork was excellent. The desert menu bore none of the subtleties of the start and main menu. The desert of the day was explained so rapidly I did not understand it. And then the electronic bill. It literally did not add up. It contained Caroline’s starter and main, the wine and big number being the total. Unfortunately the AIX rose was not £52 a bottle but £44, we are now heading into the world of management incompetence. The waitress explained the software was always producing bills that did not add up! Come on you have a great looking restaurant in a good location but lots of competition in your price range.

Unimpressed by the fact that they put all the families with young children (or dogs) in a side room for breakfast. The maitre d had to shout the instructions, due to the noise. I was travelling without kids and asked for a room in the main restaurant. I got a John Cleese-esq exaggerated eye roll and he reluctantly agreed and told me I could sit at the table by the buffet stand. Having just spent 2 weeks travelling with my children, I didn’t expect to find them separated off into a room that sounded like your local soft play. There was also some other Fawlty Towers ‘snobbery’ at play here. On the plus side the granola, yoghurt and berry compote are v.good and views are great. Baring the Friday morning breakfast maitre d - all the other staff were excellent.

Brasserie on the Bay is a beautiful extension to what is already a magnificent resort. For the 3 nights that we were there, the menu was different with the starters, mains and desserts. The food was surprisingly very stylish and elegant at the same time. Fresh and extremely flavourful. At the start of each day you felt exited at the thought of a whole new menu. The flavours complimented each other on every plate and you could tell they were well thought out in the cooking process. The main meal portions were very generous and you could end up full before having dessert. The desserts were exquisite, light in flavour and texture. The perfect sweet and subtle conclusion to each meal every night. I was in awe of the presentation of the food and service we were given. My table was well taken care of each day and they even gave us a little bowl of water for our puppy. Anyone wanting to stay at the resort will fall in love with the restaurant and their high quality food. However, if you aren’t looking for a stay at the resort, then the restaurant is open for public bookings. You’re sure to have a good dining experience with their locally sourced food, views of the ocean and all at affordable prices.

Lovely restaurant is a beautiful hotel. Enter through the hotel lobby and on your left just before the reception desk is the restaurant desk where they will efficiently either take you to your booked table or book you a table at the next available time while you relax in the comfy bar seating... The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated reminding you of its proximity to the sea, the photographs are stunning as well! We ordered chicken ceasar salad and our daughter ordered the crispy noodles and bbq pork. The food was great and we enjoyed the view into the bay. We had a slight problem where my daughter's meal came without the noodles.. 🤔.. The waiter quickly asked the kitchen to rectify but the noodles didn't arrive till she had finished the rest of her meal.. The waiter was frustrated that the kitchen had let us down and we were a bit disappointed. The waiter rectified the issue by removing that meal from the bill. Unfortunate situation but we were thankful for the waiter's solution. We'll return another day definitely, we've got to try out the spa! 😁 Highly recommended for quality local produce and helpful staff and a great environment!

The one saving grace of this place was the service. Jasmine was really polite and helpful and bumped an otherwise two star experience closer to a three. The food itself is very, very overpriced for what it is. The quality of the produce is clearly good, but the flavours aren't very exciting. My £24 sea bass wasn't even seasoned and came on a bed of new potatoes, which, while perfectly acceptable, were essentially plain. The poached egg on top of my starter was so solid I don't think it could legitimately be referred to as 'poached'. The 'mixed seasonal vegetables' we ordered on the side were in fact just kale. Mixed with more kale. Again, not seasoned. Don't get me wrong - I like kale, but not to the extent that I'd happily pay £4 for an unseasoned wilted bowlful of it. Save yourself the money and the disappointment and choose literally any of the other places in the area.
