Dolphin Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Wow what a place, the staff were so friendly welcoming and helpful. I had the Cream Tea Burger, I cannot explain how delicious this was, what a treat and really recommend this burger, the flavours were amazing and really complimented the beef burger, cannot recommend this enough amazing place !! Oh and the chips were the best !!!

Saw a review regarding the cream teas. We was greeted straight away by 2 friendly ladies. Me and my wife ordered the Hoggy Ohgy Bap which contained hogs pudding bacon and egg. It was a fair size and cooked freshly. We also ordered a cream tea that didn’t disappoint. There is nice seating outside but even from inside a beautiful view across the Perranporth beach. Would definitely recommend

Very long wait for food, but did not appear to be very busy. Order was confused and had to be redone. Food presentation needs work. Big boxes but short on food contents. Must have been short staffed or some thing. I think it was a bad day for them.

Absolutely loved this little cafe. The owner was so welcoming to us and our border collie when we visited for breakfast this morning. Unfortunately, their card machine wasn't working so my husband went to get some cash and whilst he was away, I enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and my dog was treated to a couple of biscuits for being a good boy. We couldn't fault the breakfasts, my husband had the 'Ansom Breakfast' and I had the meat-free. Both freshly cooked and piping hot! The cafe is literally next to the beach with fantastic views. We will be back!

Visited this a.m for breakfast with my 2 children. We all had a breakfast sandwich which came with fried potato's and also got a drink each and it was just under 30 quid. Lovely location next to the beach which we then had a stroll up. Lovely man serving. My son is 8 and said it's the best sausage and egg sandwich he's ever tasted-The sausage was fantastic I agreed 💙

Bacon baps excellent value wonderful little friendly cafe

Food: I had the Mother Clucker loaded chips (BBQ sauce, Chicken and bacon with cheese smothered over a huge bowl of chips). 100% amazing. I was full but finished the bowl anyway, probably regret it later. Service was A+ Atmosphere: they had some absolute bangers playing (quietly) on the stereo, very good taste in music haha.

Absolutely wonderful meals. Great service and a nice little gem we ate inside 3 huge meals and drinks well worth the price

seriously over priced for what you get payed for a sausage to expect a chip shop sausage and ended getting a piddly thing in the photo not even proper chip shop chips

Found this cafe on holiday last year and couldn’t wait to come back this year! (So we went there times haha) Food is perfect every time and they are so kind and friendly!! Highly recommend!! See you next year!

We ate here, 2 days on the trot. Both days the food was excellent, very quick and the Customer service was fantastic. The view from the Cafe was great. The owner does prefer cash, but in this day and age, most businesses should take cash or card. I would highly recommend this place if you want a good value for money meal. Everything was cooked perfectly both days and very quick.

Went here for breakfast with my family on holiday The food was perfect and couldn’t be in a better location. The staff were fantastic and the food was fast hot & on point everytime. I will definitely be back when I visit perranporth next year.

Reading through some reviews, I absolutely agree with the customer service! Gentleman serving was very rude to us as we were ordering. When we got our food, I had been put off completely by the way we were spoken to. Manners cost nothing, but they go a long way! Won’t be coming back here.

Great cafe with a large menu. I had egg, beans and tomatoes on toast. My companion had a vegetable curry with rice. Both excellently cooked and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A good location gives this little cafe the edge over others in Perrenporth as you can look out over the beach. Food was hot and tasty, coffee was OK, service swift, friendly and efficient.

We have visited a number of times over the years and never fails to deliver an outstanding cooked breakfast and friendly service. Completely understand the cash only and more than happy to support.

I was very disappointed to be right next to the sea and be served disappointing oven chips, and for the price, i expected proper chips. ordered 3 small chips and 2 chip buttys with some hot drinks for nearly £35 which I could've justified if I had been served proper chippy chips. Staff were friendly enough, just not good enough for being on a beach front travel less than a minute up the road and get yourself some proper chips 😀

Just across the road from the beach and car park we visited for Brunch on a Saturday. Friendly staff and a good amount of choice on the menu. When the food came it was a good sized plateful and well cooked, thoroughly recommended. Fantastic views of the beach if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows, or if the place is quiet, as it was when we visited.

Honestly, the view from the cafe is great. The food was fantastic and the chef cooked the food very well. The hog pudding was a first for me, and I would highly recommend it.

New Year’s Eve, daytime. Braved the weather, popped in for coffee and snacks only to be told Cash Only! Really, in this day and age!! Maybe put a big sign up.

Absolutely fantastic spot! Really glad that we decided on it, super helpful and very friendly. I would definitely recommend that you all take a visit whether it’s to sit in and have a beautiful view of the beach or takeaway and have a stroll along the beautiful beach. Either way, you’ll have a fantastic experience.

Ordered two chips. After a while we were told they'd be 4 minutes. After another 10 we just left. Couldn't be bothered to wait any longer.

Love this cafe. If your visiting Perranporth then this cafe is well worth going to for something to eat or you can takeaway too. The menu is huge, something for everyone so really we were spoilt for choice. Cafe itself is small but has tables outside.

My review mirrors most of the 1 star reviews here. Two people in front of us were turned away for not having ing cash. We were denied the sale of drinks, "food only". No people skills at all. He makes Basil Fawlty look pleasant! But with a constant supply of tourists turning up he probably doesn't care. The No.4 bistro round the corner was much more welcoming.

Gentleman was a little abrupt with my partner when he ordered and the cheesy chips came out very cold. However, the burger and bap was very nice!

We came here for lunch mid August on our holiday and this is my go to place several times a year when I want something to eat whilst in Perranporth. The place itself is quite small and has limited availability for tables if you want to sit in however, they do a takeaway option as well. On this occasion, I ordered fish chips and mushy peas with a can of Dandelion and burdock. The fish was fresh, light and nicely, battered and tasty as were the chips. The mushy peas were standard, Dandelion and burdock set off quite nicely! If you get a window seat, the view over the beach, Perranporth is 2nd to none. The only issue that you might face here is that the card machine does not always work for payment and some people who are having to go on a bit of a hike to a cash machine in order to come back and pay for their food. Fortunately, when we came to pay, we tried the card machine and it worked successfully so no complaints from us!

Fish very dry and overcooked, hardly any chips the best part of the meal was the mushy peas. Even though we brought food from there was told to move off the benches as this was for plated food only. You would of thought being on the sea front the food would of been nice. Very poor and bad value for money.

The most stingiest people to ever exist. If u want to eat your chips on the beach you will be refused any salt, vinegar and sauces that eat-in customers have access to. Even when waiting for your food they want you outside.

Ordered halloumi burger and chips (£10) and when arrived was denied access to the ketchup bottles inside due to not eating in, despite still being a paying customer. Not only were we denied but we were then told we had to pay for the takeaway packets, which was only payable by cash. When we sat to eat, the burgers were cold. Given salt and vinegar to do ourselves which surprised me as most shops offer to do it for you. Very dissatisfied.

Food looked nice and was well presented, unfortunately that's where it ended, for a lovely seaside town not very friendly oven chips served with fish! Fish overcooked staff attitude to their takeaway customers was terrible which made for a bad atmosphere when you ate in also meals £5 more to eat in, personally I would avoid as there are plenty other lovely places to eat in Perranporth, sorry but honest

Went here for a breakfast on our last day, gutted we didn't find this earlier, staff were friendly and helpful and had no problem with my daughter changing her mind about her order after she had placed it, the breakfast was spot on, proper fry up like they used to be and plenty of it, highly recommended.

My husband and I were the first people sat outside gave our order, the tables started to fill and everyone around us received their food, after 50 minutes our food eventually came, it really wasn’t worth the wait. Really wished we had returned to No.4 for breakfast was so much better

Overpriced food for what you get. Service was ok and the big breakfast was served. Average quality sausages, bacon below average and fried bread instead of toast. Hash browns okish, then eggs were good. Tea not bad, soft drinks very expensive. If you want a below average breakfast at an expensive price go here. Also the chips had been redone.

Good food friendly staff nice place to eat

Simple fare, breakfast menu, burgers and takeaway fish & chips. Only don't ask for anything not explicitly listed on the menu, beans on toast, ok, fried eggs on toast ok, but scrambled eggs on toast, a definite breakfast favourite, no. Staff polite, place is clean and very well situated for beach. Looks a little 70's in appearance and only accepts cash, you've been warned.

Never knew this little cafe was here but I'm so glad we've found it as the food and service is amazing! We had a mix between our party of 7 off the menu so was able to sample different dishes. Some had the big breakfast which was enormous, will definitely fill up the most hungry of people. The portion sizes are very generous for the prices. Again even the biggest foodie won't be disappointed with the portions. I had the strong boy burger which was delicious. The staff were great giving proper service with a smile. Would definitely reccomend!

Adjacent to beach car park, this little cafe is perfect for breakfast/brunch. we're talking a PROPER breakfast, with a giant version available for anyone who is extra hungry. Top quality bacon and sausages, food beautifully presented and great coffee. Indoor and outdoor tables, good service, and excellent value. And you can see the sea!

Asked for a table for drinks. Little man said do you want food I replied no just drinks thanks. Even though cafe had plenty of tables he wouldn’t let us in because we didn’t want food. Don’t bother with this place plenty of other welcoming establishments where you can get a drink.

As soon as we arrived the Sales Prevention Officer flew out of his empty cafe to tell us we couldn’t park our bikes on his empty tables, as if we would!! Fearing he may get some customers he demanded to know if we were going be to eating. We only wanted a coffee and cake to recharge after a long ride but the SPO said that would be takeaway only, presumably to keep the cafe empty? Needless to say we left the rude little man to look after his cafe and fend off other customers to keep it empty. We went to the Tea Rooms up the street who were very pleased to welcome us.

Appalling, rude staff, go to the Tea Room up the road instead, they were fantastic. Not surprised it was empty, the rude bloke working there probably scared everyone away, ended up arguing with one of us about how much we were going to spend before we sat down on one of the empty benches outside, about five benches that were all empty but he didn’t want us sitting there!!!

Really great food and staff too. Food was nice and fresh and a really great cup of tea. Fantastic views across the beach. Only downside I found was no toilet and had to walk across the car park to use public ones.

We read the bad reviews on this site about rude customer service before we went here but thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt and try it anyway as we were hungry and there are some good reviews too. Wish we hadn't bothered, we were waiting in the queue and a lovely young family were before us and the mother went back to get a wooden fork from the counter and the woman serving behind the counter scowled at the customer that she shouldn't touch the forks as they get them out for the customers. They really need to do some customer service training as it was terrible how she spoke to this young mother and when the customer snapped back, the same staff member started gaslighting her and questioning her parenting skills!! The staff are like Jeremy Kyle contestants, we were so disgusted with the staff we decided to just leave so I don't actually know what the food is like...

The rudest service I have ever experienced in my life. If I could have given 0 stars I would have. We queued in the takeaway section and ordered a sandwich. At the end of the 1 item order he asked if this was for takeaway and we had just decided to eat in and asked if that was possible. The cafe only had 2 other customers so plenty of place to sit. He scribbled out the 1 item sandwich order and said we had to walk round the other side and order (no one was queuing the other side either)! I said that the order would still be for a sandwich so no need to scribble out the order, but he refused. When we sat down he muttered to himself that he has to get “another pen and paper now” to take our order. At that point we had had enough and said for him not to worry, we’ll go elsewhere. He then muttered “that was a strange one” to which we said our piece back. Avoid avoid!

Just had lunch here and what a great place. Welcomed by a lovely gentleman who found us a table and they accept dogs. Two had fish and chips and the others had scampi and chips . All came with a nice creamy tartare sauce. Included in price is choices of mushy peas, curry sauce or salad. Mushy peas were fab and curry sauce too. Staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and it was excellent value for money and very tasty indeed. 😊

Rude treatment. Thought to avoid due to other bad reviews but we tried it anyway and we're met with unnecessary rudeness.

Stayed in Perranporth for a week in March, first morning (a Sunday) we sought out breakfast. We found the Dolphin Cafe. Hubby had the No4 breakfast and I had the Meat Free, unlike many other places this didn’t include a meat substitute, and it certainly didn’t need to. It was delicious, perhaps a bit Carb heavy but hey that’s what holidays are for. I sat there doing a happy dance whilst eating. We got chatting to the staff/owner who were so lovely and friendly asking us where we planned to go and giving us tips. Just a note in answer to a couple of comments I have read about the Takeaway. This is a kiosk separate to the cafe, so to enter you would have to leave the kiosk and go into the cafe by a different entrance therefore I can totally understand why the owners would not want people using the cafe as a waiting room for takeaway customers. No you are not special, no your circumstances are not unique, yes you need to adhere to the rules like everyone else. So stop trying to ruin peoples businesses because you weren’t treated like the princess you clearly think you are.

We come to Perranporth often and this is our favourite breakfast cafe (they do lots of other things other than breakfast too). Situated just off the beach, the views are lovely just like the food and the staff. The cafe is also dog friendly so...

Called this morning, Sunday 9th Oct for takeaway breakfasts. Had bacon and sausage baps, there was plenty of bacon and sausage on them. Fussy husband enjoyed them which is a bonus 😂. I had a regular breakfast with black pudding, thoroughly enjoyed it. Never seen egg yolks the colour of these. Wish I'd taken a photo now. Person that served me was chatty and pleasant. Thank you 😊
