The Haden Cross in Sandwell

Popped in with friends for a quick drink and a sandwich. Had hot pork rolls which were good and the guineas I had was excellent.

Wonderful afternoon visit to the pub, fantastic food and great beer. Would highly recommend.

We want to the pub on the off chance and was very surprised at how good everything was from a friendly welcome excellent staff and amazing food at reasonable prices. It was that good that we booked up for Sunday lunch there and then and that was brilliant too. Wow what a pub you must visit.

Sunday lunches here are amazing and you don't have to wait long for them which is a bonus for me and the staff are all very helpful and the overall pub has a very pleasant atmosphere

We had our mom's Wake here on 11th December 2024. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The buffet was great. The real fire and candles made the room very welcoming. Thank you to the staff (sorry, I don't know their names) for making a difficult day easier.

Proper pub. Attended for the book club. Packed out. Didn't eat there but what was served up to other guests looked very nice indeed.

The decor is a mixture of old and new. Very happy to see Bathams on tap.

A welcoming pub with good grub. We had fish pie and brisket . Dog and disabled friendly though the disabled loo is a bit cramped but manageable. By us anyway.

Fantastic atmosphere and the staff are really helpful. The pub feels more like family - if you were to walk in alone, you would be made to feel welcome.

A rainy day where we needed somewhere warm that did food, it was a hidden gem that did not disappoint! The fire was much appreciated, the service was superb and the food was proper home cooked grub, and they even catered for vegans! We had a great time and it was very reasonably priced!

People were eating in the lounge ..it looked nice food .. nice real fire going ..lager was good ..

Me & my friend went to the first curry night at the haden cross, we were not disappointed, friendly approachable staff, cosy atmosphere with real fire. Food was delicious, will definitely be returning 😋

Have passed this pub many times but popped in for a few drinks at the weekend. Staff were not bothered about customer service with no welcome or goodbye. Meant to be a place for real ales but only 2 on tap. Won't go again.

Homecooked food, great quality and affordable price. There was an open fire which was very cosy and added to the friendly atmosphere. Brilliant experience.

Advertises its real ales but only 2 on when we visited. Not made to feel welcome at all by person behind the bar no wonder place wss quiet. The beers that were on were good.

Menu a bit limited but what we had was very tasty

We have been here a few times for food and it’s normally nice pub food, we come as my father in law likes it and it’s down the road from him. On this occasion we booked to come for his birthday and if he hadn’t have pre paid for the food at the bar I would have refused to pay. We ordered at 7:30 and for 5 meals and no other customers in the pub eating it took over an hour to cook our food, when it arrived it looked very slap dash. Luckily my father in laws pie looked and tasted nice but the rest of us were left with, crap steak and the veggie lasagne wasn’t even a child’s portion let alone an adults. They forgot the onion rings on the steak meals which when we asked the women serving behind the bar she was very rude and abrupt with one of my family members and snarked she would just cook us some onion rings if that’s what would make us happy. The women working behind the bar was quite clearly blind drunk, I’d been up to the bar a few times for drinks and I could see her knocking them back and she was sat round a table with customers drinking. She didn’t have a professional bone in her body. A women with dark brown hair and quite bolshy. She’s probably the manager so nothing will get done about it but it’s just a shame and we won’t be back again.

Nice little pub with good selection of drinks, cosy atmosphere. Everyone seemed to know the landlord/landlady apart from me though so kind of felt out of place lol. Maybe I'll drink in there more

Wasn't that impressed with the place only stayed for 1 pint a drinks pricey was charged £4,30 for a pint of cider rather expensive compared to most pubs won't be visiting again anytime soon

My wife popped here today with her dad and mom as it had been recommended for good drinks and food. The drinks were good but that's as good as it gets. We have nothing but complaints and how this place even stays open I have no idea after todays experience. My wife now has food poisoning from the "food" today 18/6/23. From the food she attempted to eat. Staff okay. Ordered coke but received Pepsi max and I wasn't asked for anything difference. Cutlery that was brought to the table was dirty. So starter was frozen garlic mushrooms and they was terrible. Not sure how you mess frozen garlic mushrooms up but this place has. Sunday dinner that came was huge so things looked they might get better. Sadly not. Mash was like powder and not edible. Beef fatty and very dry. Gravy was like water. No seasonings on the cauliflower cheese but yet the cheese was burnt. All veg was boiled it seemed with no flavour apart from water. Pudding was a disaster. Supposed to have had treacle sponge with custard and it was somehow worse than a steamed microwavable pudding from the supermarket. So dry it was like sand paper and that's with the custard! It seems as well my father in laws lamb dinner was all boiled. Who unearth boils lamb in 2023!? Tables were sticky and so was the toilet door handles. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Not even a mention of a partial refund or a discount on anything. I would urge everyone to avoid this place.

Came for a nice quiet pint, instead just listened to their annoying dog barking constantly on the balcony!

Decent local pub near Haden Hill Park serving real cask ale & the usual lagers & ciders. Could be better as there was only one cask ale on offer & limited other lager etc. The one cask ale was in good condition.

Visited for the first time, with my husband who had been there before many years ago. Friendly staff, good food and choice of drinks.

We love the Sunday lunch, well cooked and with Bathams too. Much better than a Toby.

Enjoyed my meal and the meat pie was lovely lot of steak in it and lovely pastry.. would go again the service was excellent And very pleasant and welcoming staff

Beer lovely, service excellent, Sunday lunch out of this WORLD and piping hot! One of the few pubs I've ever found that does lamb! Cannot fault anything about this hidden gem of a pub! Superb!!!

Holdens Pub, very nice traditional pub, good beer on tap, both Bathams and Enville on tap which is a bit of a sweet spot. The staff are friendly and the beer is crystal clear from the first pint onwards. Many tables to sit outside in the sun (obviously weather allowing). Thoroughly nice atmosphere I will certainly visit again.

Great food, good friendly service, all ages welcome and the Sunday lunch are bostin, never had a bad meal and the portions are massive.

Had the Sunday dinner, good value, just a shame it was served luke warm.

Nice little pub, quite cosy. Dropped by for a quick drink, was a fairly quiet Sunday afternoon. Service was fast, prices reasonable. Halloween decorations were cool too. Didn't sit inside, went out in the beer garden instead. Plenty of space to enjoy a drink in the sunshine.

The food is great and the staff can't be any nicer.

Not very clean. Sticky table. Food not tasty. Burger fried in oil and a bone dry patty with re-fright bacon and tasteless cheese on an old bun. However, staff very friendly.

Nice quirky layout to the place, OK selection on tap with a good size carpark and beer garden

Thought we would give it a try, but got to say it was shocking. Drinks were good but food awful. The pork was all fat and beef couldn’t cut it. These meats should never have been served. No check back to see if all ok, never asked if we wanted apple sauce, mustard or horseradish and no stuffing served with the pork. Desserts were ok but no spoons bought with them. These are just basic things that should be done.

Querky pub. Gaffer really put his stamp on the place. Regular acoustic singers. Food we had lunch time was great.

Me and 4 friends were having a night in Halesowen and wanted food on the way. We saw this pub and pulled in. We were all really hungry and had to wait a fair while for the food but it was well worth it. Two of us had faggots,chips and peas.... these were proper faggots and they were really nice. Two others had a full English breakfast... which they said was good. The last person had bbq wings and pulled pork cob. She took most of the wings away as there were lots. She said it was all really tasty. I would recommend food here. All homecooked and decent prices too.
