Me and my partner went here after we visited the Black Country Living Museum which it just around the corner. Food was fantastic, plenty of filling in the pie and full of flavour, i went for the peppa pig pie. Chips were great to they had a crispy batter on them. Vibe of the place was cool, could tell there was a lot of history in the building, and the prices were reasonable :) would recommend 👌

We are really disappointed with this experience. Spent a long time waiting to be seated and served (can be expected on a bank holiday) the starter was nice and the waitress was pleasant but they didn't have the main my partner wanted which we weren't told about until just before the mains were served so he was forced to make a quick decision on what he wanted. Mains were disappointing, I didn't like the hunters chicken (unusual for me) my daughter didn't like the burger (very cheap looking, burger van style) Everything very heavily salted, Servers did not ask us if we are happy with our meals, could probably tell by the look on our faces and the picked at plates if food. We were polite and paid without complaint but we regret not saying something. I have never left a negative review on anything before, this is how disappointed we are.

Nostalgic from my younger years. Lovely pies as usual and friendly staff. Lump hammer beer was popular. The children's meals are a good portion size. My son in law did the desperate Dan's Cow Pie challenge and got a certificate. The names of the pies made us smile 😃 a well thought out menu. The posh and becks pie was really rich..if it was any richer it would be Elon musk. Lovely atmosphere and staff. Will revisit again.

What a cool atmosphere! The food was delicious and nearly took a layer of skin off my tongue as it was so hot! I ordered the lamb pie that was stuffed with loads of meat. One friend ordered steak and Stilton and she loved it. Other friend ordered brisket with onion and she loved it. Would definitely return if back in the area. Highly suggest booking ahead as we barely got a table as walk-ins.

Food and prices are great (hence the 4 stars) - I had the Tarzan pie which was the perfect combination of chunks of chicken, bacon and BBQ sauce! The pastry was very good. The Chips were also delicious. You can choose from a selection of pies to buy frozen to take home too. Service could definitely be better - both times I have been in recently and it wasn't overly busy - some of the staff seemed miserable and not approachable or did not come to our table for ages even though they were standing around the bar chatting to each other or on their phones. Toilet facilities are available on the ground floor and there is a small car park.

I saw a picture of The Pie Factory whilst visiting The Dudley Arms for Sunday lunch. Being an out of towner I was shocked to find it was still going. Usually old pictures are from bygone eras. I was delighted when we decided to head over on Bank Holiday Monday. I honestly could have probably bought one of each pie flavour as they all sounded amazing. Under careful deliberation I settled for the "Wham Bam, Thank You Lamb" (minted lamb pie). The pie was amazing, the lamb perfectly cooked and complemented by a mint gravy that seemed to have been worked out to the ml so as not to be over or under powering. The chips were typical Black Country godliness, and for the price, I was more than pleased! All I need to do now is book a return trip to sample the other flavours. If you're brave, there's a desperate Dan challenge, not for the feint hearted though!

Today I visited, and I actually come here quite often now — it’s become one of my favorite places. Every other time has been delicious with a great experience, which is why today was such a disappointment. Unfortunately, the service was really poor — we all felt invisible. The food wasn’t up to the usual standard either. I’m not sure if the team was having an off day, but the overall experience really let you down this time and has honestly put me off coming back.

Nostalgia is a very powerful thing, and that is a big part of why I was so disappointed. I have not visited for several years but have had many visits to the pub. We visited as a table of 8 and in arrival were kept eating at the bar for ages for a drink. When we were eventually served after being ignored as staff served from one side of the bar only, despite being told we would get served where we were. The first morretti went back because it was cloudy, the second wasn't too much better. The glass for the Guinness stank. I ran a pub for years so simple things sort of stack up for me. Clean the lines and glasses. Our table was delayed, which happens when it's busy. We were eventually offered a different table in a different section to speed things up. This would have been excellent service had the table not been clean. We had to find a member of staff to come clean it for us. Service was slow. Really slow for waitress and actual food service. When the food came it was really disappointing the plate was bland looking. The chips over fried. There was hardly any chicken in the Tarzan pie it was just cheesy BBQ sauce. The posh and Becks had the tiniest bit of stilton in it. The interior is it's usual quirky self but it's generally very worn out now and tired. The cobwebs are either an indication of loving Halloween or being lapse with the cleaning. As a Brummie like I said I've visited many many times previously but I really don't think I'll go back. Sad really as it's a bit of an institution in the area and somewhere everyone knows.

We have been coming here on and off for years. Never had a bad experience until this weekend. We were one of the first tables to be seated and told to wait to order some drinks as its table service, but we waited almost 20 minutes for someone to come over. The staff just didn't look like they wanted to be there, they all looked hungover or miserable and stood around chatting behind the bar. The only waitress who smiled the whole time didn't speak a word and just placed our food down then walked away. We also never had anyone come over and check if the food was okay. Luckily the food hasn't changed and we found it to be lovely as always and reasonably priced.

We tried to book here but Facebook said telephone for reservations. No reply on the telephone so we walked down from the Black Country Museum and we were lucky enough to be given a table. It's a bit basic in here and they put sawdust on the floor for the authenticity and quirky character of the place. The tables were clean and the service was good. We had a Desperate Dan's Cow pie between us. Sorry yes, between us so no big eater certificates for us! It was superb but I'd have been pushing it to eat one on my own! I had a Guinness to go with it and it was a really nice pint. Prices were reasonable and it was well worth the walk, we really enjoyed the visit here.

The staff were friendly and attentive but that was on a Wednesday at 3:30pm. Table bookings are done via Facebook or by giving them a ring. The food here is incredible, well cooked and plenty of it. We had the posh and becks pie, the meat was so tender you didn't need teeth. We had sticky toffee pudding and just barely managed to eat it it was huge. Service was a bit slow today but the young lady who was serving was doing her best. The only down side was where we chose to sit which was in the smaller and we thought quieter part and it was until some workmen came in and switched on the television so we had background music, home and away, and horse racing going on which spoilt our enjoyment. It wouldn't stop me going back but I would sit elsewhere

DO NOT GO!! We have been looking forward to visiting the Pie Factory for a few years, I am not sure how more disappointed, we could have been left feeling. Ok I get they are going for the Black Country "Old Pub" vibe - but the place needs a substantial deep clean, a display cabinet as you enter from the car park sets the standard - filthy and full of dust, and then there is the food - I had pulled pork my wife had chicken and mushroom, my wife's was undercooked and she could not eat her meal, mine was just not good - where is the seasoning? The waitress's hands were filthy and dirty - so matched the decor, very poor , slow service - one barmaid long waiting times, things could not have been worse. I absolutely get they want to re-enforce a theme but the place, is a wreck - I am sorry to be so brutal, but I would spare you this experience.

We have dined here annually for the past 2 years with family to remember my dear Mom. The young ladies serving us were a delight, proper black country manners, and the food was lovely. I had the bhaji pie which was pie of the day. The bhaji lid was a little disappointing as I was expecting an onion bhaji on top, but it was a kind of flat very hot chilli flavoured pastry. But the spiced minced lamb and veg filling and battered chips were exceptional. My husband and I shared the pigs in quilts to start which was two mini sausages, beef brisket in a thick, meaty gravy on a mini Yorkshire pudding. It was absolutely delicious and we would through recommend trying it. We have previously had the black pudding potato cake topped with a poached egg but unfortunately they were out of those this time. My brother in law had the Desperate Dan Cow Pie challenge. He not only finished that and got his certificate, but he finished a few leftovers from put plates! He thought the pie was excellent. We have read the pub is to be sold, we very much hope the new owners carry on the tradition of the pies.

Disappointing. The food was served cold, and despite the restaurant being empty when we arrived, it was challenging to get the attention of a staff member. We paid for our meals, even though they were only half-eaten, and mentioned the issue to the staff. However, the response we received from the bartender was, “You should have just said something.” Unfortunately, we would have if we had been able to find someone sooner. By the time we managed to speak to a server—who was attending to a table next to us who had arrived—about 10 minutes had already passed, and we had decided to just eat the food because we didn’t want it to get even colder. It would have been helpful if the staff were more attentive and regularly checked in on customers rather than responding with passive-aggressive remarks when concerns were raised. After looking at other reviews, I noticed that cold food seems to be a recurring issue. To make matters worse, the meal tasted like it had been reheated leftovers from the previous day. Don’t think I’ll be back here.

Lunchtime fish and chips for me, fish was nice and hot, batter was soggy and not at all crispy so I peeled it off and ate the fish. The chips was mostly bits , cold and hard, no batter on them either. My daughter had the chicken skewered kebab with chips. Skewered kebab was nice, tasty and very filling, her chips were like mine, more hard bits than chips, cold, and no batter on them. Her cutlery was dirty, her fork looked as though it hadn't gone through a wash. As a family we have been many times for meals and have done so in the last couple of weeks, although its usually in the evening. Todays lunch was expensive and not very nice at all. I did notice a customer on another table send her cold pie and chips back. I shall avoid lunchtime meals there from now on.

We went for my birthday and the food was lovely. However, not enough staff at the bar, three staff members decided to eat behind a post near the bar instead of using their own staff room when there was more staff obviously needed. Three members of our party put a food order in upon arrival and either one of the staff members lost the ticket or it's not been taken to the kitchen. Regardless, they paid and the kitchen didn't receive their order. They had to ask for a refund in the end as they'd waited so long everyone else had finished. There wasn't enough seating reserved for our large party either, we were just lucky that a small group next to us offered to move. They didn't offer to help with a highchair, just vaguely informed us where they were stored and expected to get one through a closed off door ourselves. I hate to think of a single parent struggling in this situation. Toilets were freezing cold due to being outside the pub so unable to change our 6 month old baby. Toilets weren't very clean either, hook to hold coats/bags hanging half off, toilets left unflushed and had a general feel of cheap public toilets, even then I've seen cleaner, warmer toilets. I understand this is a "historic building" but surely a door over the entrance to the toilets area could be afforded as I'm sure no one appreciates a cold toilet. Lastly, phoning up to book in the first place. Barely anyone answering phones. For somewhere with a "good reputation" you'd expect to have someone in charge of just bookings/phones. We had to ring so much I lost track how many times. When I finally got through they hung up on me. This happened twice before I managed to book. If it wasn't for my family recommending the place I would have booked elsewhere.

We went for my partner's birthday. The food was ok. I had pulled pork pie. The pork was overcooked and tough. It tasted ok though. Chips were fluffy on the inside crispy on the outside. One lady at the bar was lovely (she had black/dark hair) but whilst she was trying to serve me a tall blond girl came over and tried to start a conversation about personal things. Maybe a talk with staff about professionalism and customer service would be a good idea as I found it quite rude as she interrupted my talking to the other lady. Three members of our party put a food order in upon arrival and either one of the staff members lost the ticket or it was not taken to the kitchen. Regardless, they paid and the kitchen didn't receive their order. They had to ask for a refund in the end as they'd waited so long everyone else had finished. There wasn't enough seating reserved for our large party either. There was 15 of us and barely seating for 12! Thankfully 4 were children as we definitely wouldn't fit 12 adults in the seating provided. Thankfully, a small group on the table next to us offered to move. They didn't offer to help with a highchair, just vaguely informed us where they were stored and expected to get one through a closed off door ourselves. I hate to think of a single parent struggling in this situation. I have disabilities and although not visible I struggled to get the cheap IKEA highchair half out of the door before my partner rushed to help. No staff offered help at any time. The highchair tray kept popping down so my baby lost her food 3 times! Toilets were freezing cold due to being outside the pub so I was unable to change my 6 month old baby. Toilets weren't very clean either,. The hook to hold coats/bags on the cubicle door was hanging half off, toilets were left unflushed and left you wanting to just get it over with. I know you don't usually want to spend long in there anyway but warmth and basic cleanliness is a must in any public toilet. I didn't even want to try the disabled/changing room as it was left disgusting with paper on the floor and stinking of pee. I understand this is a "historic building" but surely a door over the entrance to the toilets area could be afforded as I'm sure no one appreciates a cold toilet, especially disabled people. The cold affects a lot of disabilities. If it wasn't for my partner's family recommending the place I would have booked elsewhere.

I’ve come here so many times over the last 10 years but in the last year the service has gotten awful. Food is still lovely but staff aren’t doing their jobs. You’re left for 30 mins when you first get seated no drinks even though you’re told it’s table service, it’s alot faster to get up and go to the bar yourself. Waitresses are stood in groups of 3/4/5 chatting around the bar or where you come to be seated. You’re not asked if you want sauces/dessert or more drinks you’re just left there until you get up and find someone yourself. Just to top it off the front door was left open for half an hour while they moved the tables and chairs back after the Sunday carvery (which is fine whilst you’re doing the moving) they then left it open until another customer got up to shut it! We were freezing. Honestly it’s really put me off coming again. I’ve had birthday meals in here and always tell people to go and try it but I don’t think I will be anymore.

After visiting family we decided to try this famous pie place in Tipton near Dudley. Its an old school style pub that served an array of drinks and of course, pies! I had the lamb and mint pie that came with battered chips and was delicious with plenty of lamb. Hubby had the chicken and mushroom pie, daughter the steak pie and out son tried the Desperate Dan pie challenge. He managed to eat the 4lb steak and kidney with veg and horns pie in 13 minutes and he said he'd have it again..

Rustic, authentic venue. Great choice of pies, unfortunately I chose salmon salad which was over salted, almost too salty to eat. I also requested my dressing on the side, which was disregarded. My friends chicken strips were overcooked to to point of being rock hard. I wouldn't say don't go but If you do stick to the pies, they're faultless.

Poor place. Table was sticky and wobbly and the food didn’t exactly make up for it. Ordered a beef burger and it was literally just meat and bun, no cheese or salad. Wasn’t exactly warm either. I’d avoid
