Ford was OK, but not amazing. Desserts are well overpriced, had the sharing one, which was £10.50 I think and was worth nowhere near that much.

Great original pub in the Black Country, well worth a visit. Definitely the best pies you can get.

This place has gone up since i last went, food was good, price was good portions were good it was amazing from start to finish. 4 stars because the toilets need a redo and my previous experience was a 3 at best. However all good again now

What a lovely experience. Disabled access was good with a Disabled toilet. Table service by some friendly and welcoming staff. The food was excellent real home made quality. First v8sit last night but certainly not our last.

Really old world pub charm. In the Black Country this pub looks unchanged over the years and has kept it heritage decor. Menu specialises in pies made from local produce, though there are other options.

If you want good beers, and no nonsense pies and battered chips you can't go too far wrong here. Make no mistake this is not a restaurant, this is a pie shop with beer...

Great if you want a couple days off work with food poisoning, only food I ate that day from here, 5.5 hours later vomiting and diarrhoea. Never had anything like it 🤢🤢

Can here for the first time on Saturday was very disappointed, we were told our table was in the bar it was really noisy and a cramped table. We asked if we could be moved but was told no as the tables were reserved in the main restaurant? We booked a few weeks ago.( felt uncomfortable in the bar as were a few lads drinking and swearing loud and we had our young grandson with us ) The food was good (apart from the black pudding potato cake it was bland and taste less) the service was not good had items missing had to ask a few times for sauce and ice and missing items we won’t ever be returning as I think it’s lost its charm after hearing how it used to be.

Came here on Friday lunchtime. Had the posh and becks pie; beef and stilton. The beef had been slow cooked and fell apart in your mouth. The pastry was light and tasty. Chips were like chip shop chips. Lumphammer Gold beer like nectar. Service good. Laid back atmosphere. The pie exceeded all expectations. Fantastic value for money. Recommended

This is primarily a restaurant/bar so a bit confusing but this is a thriving business. The food is totally cracking. I had the Desperate Dan Cow Pie (a massive Steak and Kidney) complete with pastry horns. Wife and lad were less competitive but loved their smaller tasty pies complete with roast potato like fluffy chips. The place is a definite place you will return to.

First time visiting. Came with my wife and young son. Wonderfully traditional. Great service, pleasant fellow diners and drinkers and excellent food. We shall be back soon! Thank you 😊

We went to this place tues 13th august 2024 we sat down waited an hour no food arrived so we git up an left, we wont be going again very poor show an the owners should take note, change your staff as they were very slow an had a cba attitude very dissapointed

Arrived at premises at 11.30 but wasnt sure if could check in as it states check in at 12 . Asked reception and was told it depends who is on as yo whether you can check in early. Reserved a table for the evening previously to our day of booking, Wasnt given requested table but thats fine. In the evening arrived for our meal at 7 30 and we were told where to sit with no further instructions given. 2 of our group stood at the bar for 15 mins before being finally being told it's table service. The service wasn't the best. The food wasn't much better. It was OK but it did not live up to the reputation it used to have We had been told the premises shuts at 10pm no idea why so early ......after our meal at 9pm we ordered a coffee and a cheesecake .....they came back and said the coffee machine had been switched off !!!!!! What the hell....... I disputed as to why a coffee machine had been switched off at 9pm and was told the kitchen was shutting so the coffee machine was closed. I questioned that they had brought me a cheesecake ???? They did not appear interested at all. Wouldn't go here again .

I used to come loads before I moved away, I went today with my family for a carvery I used to absolutely love their carverys. Unfortunately it just wasn’t the same as it used to be I know things change but when it’s changed in a bad way it’s just a shame. The turkey was nice the pork was dry and chewy and the beef was full of hard fat (I know this could be the cut of meat but maybe give people a heads up if they want it) the stuffing used to be so good cooked with gravy, the stuffing today was just dry with a tiny bit of gravy. The roast potatoes were soft not even abit crispy. The broccoli, cauliflower was always my favorite here but the veg was hard and the whole thing was tasteless. It had gone up in price like everywhere else I don’t mind that at all but when it’s gone downhill it is a disappointment. Such a shame.

Fantastic food , excellent service

My partner and I visited yesterday and ordered a starter to share which was nice, then a pie each for our mains. While my partner ordered the mint lamb pie, I ordered the "Peppa Pig" bbq pulled pork pie. We also ordered drinks where my partner asked for a pint of orange Tango and I ordered an orange juice with ice. She received a smaller bottle and was then told they don't do them in pints, and my orange juice didn't come with ice. Then our pies came, and my partners' one came full to the pastry with chunks of lamb - gorgeous. However my bbq pulled pork one was very heavy on the sauce and very little pulled pork compared to how much lamb was in my partners' pie. In fact when we had both finished, my partner had left some of hers, with a good several chunks of meat left in her pie pot at the bottom. Whereas mine was left with an inch deep of bbq sauce. The sauce was way too rich to enjoy in that quantity when you have so little meat. So the majority of the sauce was left. I passed on my feedback to the staff who apologised to be fair, and said they'd pass on to the kitchen. Then we had the bill, and we went up to the bar where the till was to pay. There were 3 or 4 members of staff walking around us and chatting to each other, completely ignoring us. I'm standing there with the receipt in my hand by the till, and being ignored. Not one of the staff had the decency to ask "can I help you?". I couldn't believe I had to say to the nearest one "Is this where we pay the bill?" and then she proceeded to bring up the required amount on the till for me to pay. Needless to say I wasn't impressed by my first visit. If we come again I shall definitely be trying a different pie, but will hope the service improves by then too.

Me and my partner popped in for a drink wasn’t sure about ordering food, the welcoming wasn’t very friendly very frosty, we had our and left. ☹️

Went with multi generation family early evening on a July Tuesday evening. One tried the Desperate Dan pie - huge! Lots of meat potatoes and carrots. He managed it though and received his Certificate of Achievement. Service was slow, they had a large group of 20 come in behind us. Fun decor.

Food expensive for the quality received

I had a family gathering here, we ordered lots of food and everything was delicious and all delivered in time too, so nobody had to wait for their meal. I had the desperate dan pie, that was the best tasting pie I've had in years eating out, it comes with seasonal vegetables (new pots and chunks of carrots) all cooked under 1 lid. I had a side of mash pots to go with my pie and ate the lot, I was uncomfortably full for about another 3 hours after I finished my pie. Good service was excellent, easy to order and relatively quick to serve too. I can't wait to go again, to try a different pie.

Well I was disappointed I’ve been looking forward to coming here for so long I ordered the fury pie my husband had the chicken and mushroom my pie had no taste a lot of meat but needed seasoning my husbands pie had a lot of chicken and one mushroom also needed seasoning our chips if you could call them that they were like batter bits from a chip shop I’ve had a better pie from a weatherspoons pub

Went with my colleague and felt so unwelcoming. 1st time it was busy festive period, so couldn't complain as they were busy. 2nd time it was normal weekdays. 25% occupied tables. Went to bar for a drink and one of the staff asked if we had booked table. When we said no, one of the staff staff said you need to go back (few steps) and wait there. It was like we had crossed the border of another country without Visa and needed permission now. It's not what was said but how rude the tone was. My colleague end up completing her sentence adding "please". No reaction but stonedead face. We would have waited if there was a sign or receptionist like I see in other places. I am not psychic to read invisible sign. We were instructed not to sit at certain tables and told it is table service. Fair enough we hadn't pre-booked. So take what is available. Table service seems wonderful till it turned to shameful service, when no show up for 15 -20 minutes. Finally, waiter arrived and wanted order for drink and food together. No sir, we replied that we need drink first and order the food later. It went well. When we nearly finished drink, another waitress managed to smile and took food order. I couldn't fault lamb pie but my colleague had chicken and mushrooms pie with one mushroom. Well, chickens and mushrooms look same! Just call it dried chicken pie. 90 minute later, when we were leaving . We noticed those special tables not to be occupied were still unoccupied. So I am wondering was it a plan for Asian faces to sit in a corner ? may or may not be. May be other people decide not to come. May be bland food not for everyone to enjoy. In nutshell, they need to put a sign "wait here" or a receptionist should be on site to greet. Staff need training for customer service, some etiquette, fake smiles and speak softly at least. I will book tables but will no show up. I am surprised why 25% table were occuoied. I am not going again. So Factory Pie ..bie bie.

Excellent food, really friendly staff. Legendary Beer. Had desperate dan pie could hardly finish as it was huge. Battered chips were awesome. Lumphammer Gold was brilliant. Even took some frozen pies and 2 pints of Lumphammer to go. Such an authentic old time experience. Highly recommended.

Last time the team behind the bar were pleasant and friendly, tonight think bar man was more interested in talking to regulars than service with a smile. As usual drink quality was good.

Good food, very hearty and filling. Staff were lovely and service was very quick. Drinks were good too. Plus, you can buy pies to takeaway and enjoy at home, along with 2 pints.

Recently took my husband for father's day as he's a big pie fan and I hadn't visited since I was a child. Still has the same authentic atmosphere with the sawdust on the floor. Food was spot on, great menu choice including a Sunday carvery, so all 6 of us could choose a variety of different meals. Portion sizes spot on, service good and prices were reasonable. Will definitely be back.

Good and bad .. I havnt been for around 15 years as not been near . However we did book 2 months ago and then lost our booking 🤔 so ended up going somewhere else ( so double check !! ) This time no problem. The ladies serving the table where 100% .. however the barman had a attitude & no customer service skills which I did point out to him . There was a large group of us and we ordered a few weeks prior as requested. We had the tables for only 2 hours which seemed a little short for such a big group . We all knew what we had to pay and had added a tip , ushered away from the table confussion set in and apparently 2 meals hadn't been paid for 🤔.. as it was a family and we had all added tip money not sure how that could happen so extra was paid . So suggest paying per table so that does not happen before your moved... Food was good !! I had mixed grill which was cooked OK and everyone else enjoyed . Would like to go again 🤔... however it's a bit cowboy run ... Getting home after seeing literature saying they did delivery of pies , thought it would be a nice touch for a member who was not with us . Website doesn't give information and I sent an email to them asking about if they was still offering the service .... email has bounced back and Facebook looks like you can't interact with management.... So it's a heads or tails whether we go again ... 🤔

The pub and service were great but the steak pie had way to much fat in it and when I taste fat I can't eat and the chips were really greasy like they were cooked in dirty fat , couldn't eat any of it but the pastry on the pie was nice

This place was recommended to us so we were really looking forward to going. On arrival we were greeted or I should say not greeted by a very stern un friendly bar person. The meal was OK but nothing to write home about. The pie crust was undercooked and sloppy although there was plenty of beef and good quality. My chips were from the bottom of the bag all bits and very few whole chips I did mention this to our server who just smiled and walked away.

Visited tonight and found the food to be very good, but the service to be abrupt. Asked to pay our bill at the bar and the guy barked the total and handed the card machine over. I paid and he didn't even say *anything*, just turned around and continued his more important stock take of drinks in the fridge. It takes nothing to just say thanks for spending just under £100. I'm really pleased the barman was greatful of our trade.

Came here for a family meal and we were informed it is table service. But the staff just seem to stand around a lot of the time. After waiting, without even a drink, We had to call one of them over to take our order. The food came and it was really nice. Again we waited a long time for plates to be cleared and someone to take our order for dessert. Eventually one of our party went to the bar to order and was once again told that it is table service. So again we had to call a waitress over to take our order. Two people from our party had mugs of tea which arrived in grubby looking mugs and floating on the top of one of the mugs was a fly. We took it to the bar and told the member of staff, a miserable looking bloke, and he just said ok. No apology, no question of did we want another one, nothing. I have been here many times but I won’t be returning. Absolutely shocking

Lovely place but way to much fat in there steak pie, if one bit of fat goes in my mouth I can't eat any more tryed fishing it out but more fat that steak sorry, the chips were really greasy like they were cooked in dirty fat , not a good experience at all, small coke and a lime n water over £4

I stayed at this location for over a week, the staff are amazing, rooms are excellent and clean. The beds are so comfortable it's hard to get out of bed. The food, beer and locals are amazing. I must admit I will be sad to leave and said I will be back just for the staff and the place and the welcome you get every morning. Great place 5 stars from me.

Wanted to take visiting family from abroad to see this unique pub and try the pie, drove from far to get there. Went in the afternoon when there was no one else in. Waitress was rude, was unwilling to even give us an extra pair of cutlery. Disappointing experience, have never returned since. Pie was just ok, but staff left a bad taste.

I’ve been to the pie factory many times over the years and this visit 21/06/24 was by far the worst. Start at the beginning, we booked a table on the Facebook for 6:30 when we arrived they lost our booking only to find it but booked half an hour prior. There was no apology for their mistake and sat us on a very cramped table. We didn’t mind though. Carrying on, our server not sure his name the gentleman in the bar service was very poor. The entire time there was not a single smile, thank you or you’re welcome given. We were a group of four friends meeting up so yes we were having a laugh but every time this man came to our table it seemed like he resented us for even being there. We waited well over an hour to be served our food, which was decent but nothing amazing and one of our groups drinks was forgotten which we had to go to the bar to get because there was no staff to talk to in our area. Speaking of the bar, when we went to the bar to get the drink there was a hoard of staff gathered around the meet and greet desk - next to the bar - but no one would come over to take our drink order. We waited at the bar for a ridiculous amount of time before we got sick of waiting and went to the meet and greet desk to get anyone’s attention. I like the pie factory and I probably will be back but this visit really let you down. Improve please!

Ordinary food, service decent. Venue itself is quite nice but coke was flat and food wasn't that great.

Fun pub with quirky food and good ales. Nice for a fun time. The table service, however, is very indifferent.

On arrival we were greeted and seated quickly. Drinks order taken. I ordered the Posh and Becks Pie Steak and Stilton. Chunks of beef in gravy with stilton cheese topped with puff pastry served with battered chips £12.99 excellent just perfect. My partner had Micks Grill served on a shovel tender steak gammon pork loin sausages onion rings topped with an egg and battered chips £16.50 He loved it. Drinks Lump Hammer Mild and Gold and Sledge Hammer.

Used Pie Factory for years, well it's gone downhill. One last 2 visits the chips have been awful, come out burnt no potato in them just crisp, thought 1st time it's a one off but no visited 2 weeks later even worse, Sent them back for a bowl of chips to come back just the same, girl asked if I would like mash instead, declined this as it was chips I wanted. When paying the bill asked for the chips to be deducted from the bill, had no issue paying for the pie as it fab, but didn't feel I should have to pay for part of a meal that was inedible and this is where you let yourselves down and I stress this was just one person your other staff were lovely but your duty manager needs customer service training, asked whether I had reported the problem at the time, when I said I had she asked the girl who had served us if I had, she said I had, she asked her if they were as I had described she nodded her head, at this the duty manager said she was going to check with the kitchen, I asked her are you calling me a lair for her to respond well I wasn't aware of it. On her return said I had the meal so it had to be paid for, explained to her I was happy to pay for the pie portion but not paying for a part of the meal that was inedible and she needed to look around at amount of chips still on people's table. She said I'm not reducing there was nothing wrong with the food, at this point another member of staff who was there said to her just take the cost of a portion of chips at which point they were swiftly told to keep their nose out of it. Well it's a goodbye from us, such a shame as have always enjoyed our meals family /friends get togethers over the years, I can deal with the odd off meal, but to be made out to be a lair and spoken to in such a way. Not even a response to complaint Sent in You may wonder why a 2, the steak pudding was fabulous

Not suitable for a quiet relaxing stay...unless you're out on the lash and can't drive or get home. Sheets don't fit the beds and communal bathroom and toilet is not suited to diabetic night-time dashes to the loo....especially if you are "natural" sleepers. That said if you are actually young, rather than just at heart it is a lively venue with live music and excellent pies and a historical interior.....at 80 years young we should have taken the MAD a bit more literally!+

A must do experience, good food

Food was nice, staff really let the experience down. All the staff were rude or blunt. We walked in with our 1 year old son and 3 of them were at the front chatting. We were standing there for a few mins didn't get acknowledged so we thought you must sit yourself down. So we did I then had to go over to the 3 of them (still chatting) & ask for a menu. They said "where are you sat?" I said we just sat down as no one was seating us and she looked at me as if I was on another planet and she hadn't just watched us walk past her and sit down. The overall service to the table wasn't great ether just general bluntness ect. The lady with the black hair fake lips and glitter in her hair especially rude. The only member of staff I felt was nice was the older lady serving on the carvery.

Truly a wonderful service from the staff, Beth in particular, took care of my mother on her birthday and even gave her a candle on her food to celebrate. The food is delicious and sizeable so you’re moneys worth.

We had voucher for our birthday so went for food really looking forward to it so disappointed chips were not fresh or hot fish wasn’t very warm mushy peas were not nice had to go and ask for tartar sauce never again such a shame

Went for a carvery on Sunday. It was okay. Plates Dripping wet. Not much choice in veg. Frozen carrots, peas and green beans. Cabbage not cooked enough. Aunt Bessie's yorkies. Gravy was nice though.

Sunday roast in May 2024 - tried to book by phone on the Wednesday and the Thursday evenings. Rang for 10 minutes each time ….. no answer. Got through Saturday lunch time. First time was 3pm. We arrived and found it was half empty even though there was no car park space. Carvery food was mediocre - dry beef and dry turkey. Pots seemed deep fried and not roasted. Small domestic sized Yorkshires. At the end of the meal I was given a bill for another customer instead of mine. Smiles were lacking from staff. Not a good or worthwhile experience unfortunately.

Sorry to say this place has gone down the pan after our experience today. was waiting 15-20 minutes to be served just for a drink when there was nobody else at the bar to be served bar chap kept walking past ignoring us.then a couple of others came to the bar and the bar chap went to them first and ignored us till I had to prompt him to serve us.It was obvious he didn’t want to be serving and it all was too much of an effort for him. The bar chap wasn’t welcoming at all and what I thought was ignorant and disgusting customer service.He gave terrible customer service inclusive of the girl working along side him didn’t even say hello and just dumped my dinner on the table all she did was shout what I had ordered and dumped it no sauces or anything as they were more focused on everything else and messing around rather than looking after your customers.We we’re sat eating our meal and they were messing around behind the bar and swearing.again customers waiting on the other side of the bar. I do not pay good money to be received in that manor or to be sat listening to them messing around.I’ve worked in customer service for a long time and you need to teach your staff to be more customer focused as I wasn’t the only one to be treat like that today. The only stars I’ve given you is for the food that we easily sat there an hour for..

Absolutely amazing food went for my mom's birthday last night and the food was second to none, the staff was impeccable,very polite, so lovely never had a complaint there was me,my mom, my mom's friend my girlfriend,my cousin, his girlfriend and their little boy and it was cheap there and defo booking it for my birthday in August which is on the 8th but we're having it the weekend after and defo going there to try the other food they have to offer and the Guinness was a nice pint aswell

Don't bother! Booked in for 6.30pm and pre-ordered our food which took nearly 30 minutes to come out. It had clearly been sitting keeping warm, cold chips etc, served small children last. Couldn't complain as no servers about. At 7.50pm still no menues given for dessert and nobody about, so we left and ordered from somewhere else. Completely spoiled a 30th birthday celebration. My first and definitely LAST time of going.

Food was lovely my pie was full of meat and very delicious. We wasn't seated at the time we booked at and we had to sit at the bar for a while till a table became free. Parking is a little tight but I would happily visit again. I can't rate the rooms as I didn't stay the night

Food is always good but sometimes the service , especially waiting for drinks is slow.

The initial welcome was a little cool, especially when we informed the greeter we hadn't booked, but required a table for two. A table was found for us, which we were led to, before being informed it was table service only, as we were handed a menu. We were not too surprised to see so few clientele following the brusque introduction, but were pleased when the server arrived with a smile and happily took our order. Drinks arrived promptly and courteously, but unfortunately one of the ales ordered was not at its best. The meals were again delivered in good time and with a smile, before being asked if we required anything else. The food was outstanding, and we were pleased to see as we ate our meals, the venue began to steadily fill with clients. By the time we finished and were ready to leave, we were happy to see the majority of tables were occupied, which made it appear quite busy, and felt more like a Friday or Saturday than a mid week evening. The service and attitude of all the staff was also much friendlier and welcoming than our initial entrance, so would ultimately recommend this place and we look forward to returning again.

The food was average but the attitude of the staff was awful. No pleases, thank yous or ‘do you need anythings.’ Gave us butter knives with steak and ribs 😂 didn’t offer any condiments. Wanted a dessert and tried to order at the bar and some troll of a woman ignored me and served everyone else. Told me to sit back down as food was table service only, despite my friend just ordering a cheesecake at the bar 10 seconds prior. No waiters were available for table service… so make it make sense. Also when ordering soft drinks they only filled them 3/4 to the top? And the glasses were so dirty they stank. They tried to kick us out to get the table back without any 5/10 mins warning. Just “we need this table now” and we were like .. that’s fine are you going to give us the bill or? When they realised we were paying separately, they clearly couldn’t be bothered to figure out what was owed and told us we needed to goto the bar and reel off everything we had to pay. Honestly shocking. Will never go back. Also the car park is another circle of hell.
