Lovely fish and chips, everything is cooked fresh, so a little wait for your food after ordering but very well worth the wait

20/09/24. I'm not one for leaving reviews, but wanted to warn anyone reading my post against this place. Having been brought up in a fish and chip shop, I recognise oil that needs changing, and the oil they were using was way, way, way past that point. The chips had a ' fusty' taste to them. Thankfully the portions were tiny. The cone of chips £2 which came in a tray was stingy, but you kind of expect that, the large chips £3.50 was near enough the same portion only marginally larger. I'm wondering if there is a policy to fleece tourists but give locals better value? Suffice it to say, despite the poor portion size, a lot of the chips were thrown away in the bin. I would have left them out for the seagulls, but I'm against cruelty to animals.

We’ve spent the last week in Perranporth and have visited here for the cod and chips more than once . Can’t fault it . Too good not to repeat . Definitely recommend.

I visited this restaurant a few times over my two week break. I had the scallop loaded fries on one occasion and a savoly and chips on another. Both tasted delicious! Really quick service. I can see some people have complained about the portion size.. but they were fine and filled me up just fine!! Lots of GF options as well (gluten free one side of the restaurant and regular chip shop the other side!)

Visited a few times over a couple of weeks, the shop has a gluten free section on one side and a traditional chippy on the other. As someone with coeliac disease, gluten free options at a chip shop (especially fish) are hard to come by. Cod, chips and curry sauce all gluten free. Only reason I’m giving a 4/5 is I feel not having a small/large offering for chips meant needing to double up when sharing.

Visited Perranporth and fancied some chips by the sea. Was very disappointed.. the chips were on the small side, and the batter was rick hard. The curry sauce wasn't overly nice either. We were even given the option of salt and vinegar it was just added before we were called to the counter. Now off to find an ice cream as I'm still hungry.

Holidaying in Perrenporth this week and we have been here 4 times already this week, food is exceptional, between us we have tried almost everything on the menu. Crab sandwich is a must, along with the homemade burgers. Fish and chips are first class. Mussels amazing. 100% recommended

Visited this chip shop to have the joy of chips / curry sauce by the sea. The service was quick which was great, However the fish was super greasy with the batter attached to the paper when we unwrapped it, the portion size of the chips was on the small side which was quite disappointing. The curry sauce didn’t taste like your usual curry sauce from a chip shop, there was a lot of heat within it and it also tasted very fruity which was a little jarring.

The worst Fish and Chips I have ever had. Completely undercooked chips, soggy batter with the cod. It’s hard to mess up something which is easy to cook but this place managed it.

Fish was absolutely fine, the batter however was very soft and soggy (personal taste maybe) The chips on the other hand where very pale in colour and tasted raw but didn't feel raw. Not the best we have had but certainly not the worst. Wouldn't return as didn't feel the £24 price tag for 2 fish and chips reflected the quality unfortunately.

Always love a chippy !! But this one hadn't been added to the favourites list ! I was waiting patiently in the cue to have folks behind me served before me which I guess they knew the folks which I get .. well the food .. the battered sausage was really good .. but the fish didn't come across as being fresh ..and the chips ..very greasy and the oil tasted and smelt like it hadn't been changed in a very long time ..kids go mad for a chippy but even they couldn't finish the meal ..it was almost like the chips had been served with a ladel.. such a shame as it being in a prime spot ..I'd definitely give it a go again but with discretion

Not very happy Wouldn't ever come here again! Came at 6:30 got told they wouldn't cook me a burger even though they shut at 8. Not very disappointed as I regularly recommend people to you won't bother next time. The lad who served me didn't have much customer service either to be honest very blunt not very chatty. Very unhappy customer

I went here after comparing reviews from the other shops in town, and I was not disappointed. It was fairly priced and the two young lads in there seemed to be doing a great job holding down the shop. The food arrived quickly after ordering and was nicely prepared and not the greasy meal you might expect from elsewhere. Very nice staff, great customer service and I would definitely go here again. Many thanks

Had the most delicious fish & chips here today. Everything was cooked perfectly and after asking for extra salt and vinegar the seasoning was spot on. Would definitely return to the Haddock's End.

So prime location for this chip Shop, staff are so rude, I get there fed up with Hoilday makers but let’s not forget if we stop coming your business closes , staff are so rude young girl and guy with glasses some of the rudest staff I have met and after talking to some local shops etc apparently this is always the case, the food was average fish greasy batted sausage to much batter and was so hard (burnt batter) chips ok but mostly ends and pointy ones any way will not go back will try a different one. People put up with it because were it is that’s it.

Difficult to rate as we didn't actually get any food. We queue outside for about 20 minutes only to be told "sorry, we don't have any chips." Thought this was a "fish and chip" shop. Seems poorly managed. The local guy behind us in the queue was fuming, and said it is often like this but there is nowhere else in the town to go to at that time of day.

Possibly the worsed fish and chips I have eaten. The fish was nice however the batter wasn't cooked it was greasy and soft. My wife had a pastie this went straight in the bin. She asked for a hot pastie but was given a pastie off a shelf at the rear not one on display she asked if it was hot they said yes barely warm won't go back

We visited here on 3 occasions and stood outside in excess of 30 minutes, there were people everywhere, it was nothing short of chaotic queuing, nobody knew where to stand, some people waiting to order, some people waiting for food. In Anglesey we had a similar experience, but the chip shop put out some queuing tape barriers, had a simple take a ticket system, a pick up point got phone orders and a waiting area once your order was in. Why they can’t do that here is beyond me, the a,lunt of people who walked off fed up with waiting, as did we on 3 occasions, we gave up! I would avoid this place and book into one of the restaurants near by, far better food, without the aggravation!

Went to buy dinner, waited twenty minutes in a long queue, when a young lady came out and stated that they were running low on chips and may run out, fair enough we thought we would get some fish. Having waited another twenty to thirty minutes, finally got to the counter only to be told not only was there no chips but that they had turned the fryers off and only had what they had left (two fishcakes and a sausage) when I asked why we had not been informed that they weren't frying anything else, the owner became very belligerent stating he had had a long busy day and wasn't just going to stand frying fish! Also mumbled something else I didn't get. There was a que behind us of disappointed people who had also waited. I told him that I would be leaving a review and it would definitely not be favourable,to which he replied in a very aggressive manner and I quote "Don't threaten me!" Wouldn't recommend that you go there, plenty of other decent and polite fish and chip shops there.

Ordered haddock and chips.I tried one mouthful and said to hubby this is not haddock.Whatever fish was passed off as haddock was as thin as flat fish, flaky and tasted horrible.Chips were soggy.I left the lot.Think because tourists can fool us.What a waste of money from our pension. Had asked for salt and vinegar you are not allowed to put your own on.Couldnt detect any.

Went for fish and chips for our evening meal. I wanted to order large cod and chips but they only had regular cod, this was ok as when it was served it was huge with nice crispy batter and nice chips. There was a long queue but the wait wasn’t long. The only downside of this restaurant is that you wait in the queue and choose your items and when it’s your turn to get served guess what, they don’t sell it anymore. Pies and pasty’s are advertised on the menu but when you ask for them they no longer sell them as there is a pasty shop next door ( actually closed at the time ) A variety of burgers advertised on the menu but again they no longer sell these. When questioned as to why they are advertising items that they no longer sell the reply you are given is that “ we haven’t had time to change the menu “ Over all a nice place if all you want is fish and chips and I would probably use them again but ask first what items that are actually selling before deciding what you want.

Person taking orders was the most miserable person I’ve met in a long time. And she screwed up our order. They’d sold out of many things. Tasteless chips.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.
