The Gym Sports Bar and Grill in St Edmundsbury

Absolutely lovely and amazing staff. Manager/Owner on the other hand will kick you out after spending £300-£400 and won't even bother coming to tell you why! He's more then happy to let the security come and tell us to leave without a reason. Manager/Owner said he was bust talking to other people out the back. So avoided giving us a pathetic reason as to why he got other people to tell us to leave, even though the rest of the bar was making more noise then we were!! Avoid like the plague!!!! The bar staff and service staff are second to none! Cannot thank the bar staff and service staff enough!! They go above and beyond to make your night great!!

Excellent service by Edan the bar was so clean, your were shown to your clean table, they have signs on the table saying it was clean. And then advised you had to stay sat down. Then Edan advised us about the app to order from. We had a few beers and gins and the food was excellent. Ben and team great job. See you soon cheers.

This place us an absolute dive. If you're not too fussy about your hygiene then this the place for you. Appalling security and certain people who work there are just plain rude.. I made a complaint to one of them who thought the best way to deal with a customer was to swear at me probably because I was female and told me to "s**k his d**k". Talk about time travel to a 1970's hole. Vote with your feet and spend your money elsewhere.

AVOID , visited on 5th October Saturday and someone stole my jacket, staff very unhelpful especially the manager cocky and uncompetitive in a desperate need of a wash and management course. Left with the impression that the staff is involved and know more about the petty nicks happening in the premises.

We go to this bar every now and again to watch the football. Atmosphere is great. However can't really say anything more positive about it. Draft beer is awful - we will only now drink bottles in there. The floor is always really sticky - like it hasn't been mopped in weeks. The toilets are up there with the worst I've encountered. Food - no chance I would eat there. If the front of house is as dirty as it is, I dread to think what it's like behind the scenes. It could and should be so much better with a bit of cleaning. What also annoys me is that as soon as a game is over, they blast dance music loudly, and turn off the screens. No chances of seeing highlights or hearing interviews....its like they try to drive everyone out. Within 2 mins of the game being over the place is empty. Shame. So much potential as well

I had an hour to kill in Bury and really wanted to watch the French Open (tennis not golf)Found this place on Google and went in at lunch time. Asked the guy behind the bar if it was possible to put the tennis on which he did and said no problem. Had a pint of Backs and also had the whitebait starter as a snack. It was great, very tasty with chunky bread and butter and a decent nicely presented side salad with Balsamic vinegar dressing.Yes, it's not the most up to date in terms of decor goes but the welcome, serve and good value I got will mean I'll be back soon.Thanks for the welcome and the tennis :)

My work requires a lot of traveling so I eat or drink out very often across the UK. I barely use my TripAdvisor and tried to only leave positive feedback in the past as I know some people use it as a way to vent when they had a bad day but... This experience was just awful. My workmates and I wanted to chill with some beers and cheap food so we weren't expecting much. We also did not expect a total disaster which was this place: bar staff more interested in their phones than serving customers, rude when actually called to serve you, just because you interrupted them flirting with each other or other customers. The only half-decent thing was the food which we would probably appreciate more if not the sticky, filthy floor, toilets, tables and chairs. Honestly, if we knew the area and weren't absolutely knackered we would go elsewhere.The worst though was the thing about the tall bearded bartender that actually served us. He was polite and quick with our orders but... and that's going to be embarrassing... he's personal hygiene was poor. We could smell him from where all of us were standing, it was really bad. It put all of us off and we didn't know if we should mention something to the guy. One of the other customers overheard our conversation and said that apparently, we're not the only ones who noticed it (what a surprise) and that someone has to say something. So... hence my review. Think the guy is a supervisor or something, has a piercing in his ear and nose I think. He may have some flaring skills, but if he doesn't shower once in a while, it's worthless...

Yo estaba con un compañero que estaba en su deporte. Bastante básico con señales de estar bien utilizada. Un montón de televisiones incluso uno construido en la masa en el caballeros (posiblemente un poco demasiada información). Ideal para ver el partido. Como hamburguesas y la comida es el que ofrece. Called into this busy sports bar to watch my team play on one of their many screens. Good beer at reasonable prices plus a good old fashioned burger with monster steak cut chips. Enjoyed my time and will visit again.

Great bar great staff great Beer. Great drinks deals with the happy hour! Anywhere you sit you can see a TV as there are 13 with projectors on the big screens never miss a moment with a TV in the toilet and outside

A friendly atmosphere that is fun; even if you're not in to sports hugely. Great people make this a nice place with everything you need - past visits have included delicious food!

Este bar tiene numerosas pantallas de televisión mostrando diferentes deportes. La cerveza es bastante caro, y para lo que te dan en cuanto a la comida (yo tenía una hamburguesa y patatas fritas £7.90) curlie era exorbitante. No se comer aquí pero volveré a visitar para ver el fútbol.

Me sorprendió no ver la boxeo en el sábado pasado. La lucha por el título mundial en el Reino Unido. Cualquier bar de deportes que dice ser el lugar para ver deporte seguramente será mostrando esto?

Tras la desaparición de La Queens Head este lugar ahora es la 'ir al bar' para los fanáticos de partido televisado en Bury St Edmunds.

El personal era genial. Viajando desde America es no sabía mucho sobre fútbol y me enseñaron todo. Los clientes habituales son muy amables. Hay un montón de televisores y la comida es estupenda. No es un gran bar de deportes y no tiene cosas como mesas de billar y sí, pero si lo que quieres es simplemente ver un partido y tomar un tentempié con algunas buenas personas este es el lugar para ti. Y ¿Mencioné que la comida es genial.

Tomamos una copa después de una comida ( en un restaurante al otro lado de la carretera )

Went in to Mk dons smash Man U not only did I watch history on the pitch but had the best Burger I have ever had. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Alright if your in town on a crawl but a bit strange otherwise, too many large scene tv's, even got one as the male urinal which is worth seeing to believe. Not the most welcoming place in town

The drinks are decent, there is blazingly loud live music often, and there is an outdoor area to sit or smoke. All good. The best part, however, is the big screen tv that you use as a urinal!

We pre booked our table at the Gym Bar for Sat 16th March. There was no charge for this and we had the table from 2pm until we left. They have numerous tv's around the bar showing a mixture of Rugby and football. The bar was extremely busy and a great atmosphere, the staff very helpful and kept the tables clean and tidy. We chose to have burgers which initially were slightly undercooked, we asked if they could sort this and they did very quickly and apologised. Our day was excellent and the staff superb, will definitely go back.

If you're looking for an afternoon or evening sport game this is your place. The beer is average price and you can also get snacks both in afternoon and evening of which were actually quiet nice. You have a reasonably big and well kept outside area for smoking or for a summers day. They are a lot of tv's so even if it is packed you'll still be able to see at least one game. The staff behind the bar seem friendly enough, though often short staffed. BUT, the only problem and I see it's both written in previous reviews and also been mentioned to me before is the doormen are ill mannered and often overly aggressive to the younger generation. Maybe they like the power, but maybe a change in hands and this place could be more welcoming.

I'm an F1 fan and went in to watch but it dominated by the load football in the background. Shame, as F1 this season was hard to follow if you don't have Sky and so I only went the once. have some good bands though

been to thr gym bar tonight , and my friend had a guide dog and we was not let in although it does not say we can not bring dogs in. the man so called doorman was so agressive and chucked us out . shocking

We went here on a Sunday afternoon in search of somewhere open for food. This place has a really nice atmosphere. While it is sports-themed with posters etc. on the walls it also retains true to its heritage with exposed beams etc. The Sports theme is done really well and the crowd-pleaser may well be the beer taps on the table where you can refill your pint.The food was yummy, good portion sizes, though maybe a little expensive, and presented nicely. I've also been here in the evening- the place attracts a good crowd rather than rowdy drunken youngsters. Check it out- it's certainly something a bit different.
