What an uplift! The Gun has outdone itself and "shot" it out of the park with its renovation. Easily the best riverside pub in the Isle of dogs. Can't beat it on a summer day! Great vibe!

Great location, great history, great beer garden with fabulous views great restaurant location overlooking the water unfortunately the food average at best . Fantastic place for a drink but eat somewhere else. NB Further to this post The Gun Management team responded and asked for specifics by email and we entered a very friendly dialogue regarding the visit. The team were anxious to get things right and although we had a difference of opinion I would compliment them on their response and their desire to get things right (you cant be perfect every time.) Congrats. With this team in place The Gun is in good hands and should only get better.

I recently visited The Gun in Canary Wharf for a Sunday roast and overall, it was a mixed experience. I opted for the beef roast, which was exceptionally good. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavour, making it the highlight of the meal. However, the Yorkshire pudding was a bit of a letdown. It seemed a little old and wasn't as fresh as I would have liked, leaving it somewhat floppy instead of the crispy texture I prefer. The roast potatoes, too, were disappointing; they were soggy and lacked the crispiness one expects from a good Sunday roast. Despite these issues, the meal was quite flavourful, and given the reasonable pricing, I can't fault the food too much. The service at The Gun was impeccable, as it always is. The staff were attentive and friendly, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. After our meal, we visited the Tiki Max bar outside by the river. Unfortunately, this part of the visit left much to be desired. For the price they charge for drinks, I expected the venue to be better maintained. There were cobwebs all around the fence, and the general upkeep of the area seemed neglected. A little bit of TLC is definitely needed, especially given the premium pricing. It takes minimal effort to clean cobwebs, and the overall appearance of the outside area detracts from what could be a much more enjoyable experience. In summary, while the food and service inside The Gun were quite good, the outdoor area at the Tiki Max bar could use significant improvement. With a bit more attention to detail in maintaining the venue, The Gun could offer an all-around excellent experience.

We made a relatively spontaneous reservation. It was my mother's 60th birthday. Unfortunately, we were greeted rather coldly when we came in. We were looked at skeptically as to whether we actually had a reservation. We then got a nice table on the terrace (unfortunately that was the only good thing). The service first took the order for the drinks. We ordered, among other things, an Old Fashioned, a Manhattan and a non-alcoholic drink. After a while the food order was taken. We then waited 35 minutes for the Old Fashioned and the non-alcoholic cocktail to arrive. Next came the food - my husband had been waiting for his Manhattan for about 45 minutes. The food was okay - but nothing special for the price. At some point the Manhattan arrived, which was presented by the waitress with the words "Try it, if you don't like it, we'll take it off the bill." The cocktail looked like watered down Coke (see picture). The Manhattan was not edible. Unfortunately, from then on we were largely ignored. In a restaurant with such prices, a problem like the cocktail shouldn't happen. At some point my husband told the waitress again that the Manhattan was not drinkable - she simply replied that she said yes, that she would take it off the bill. He wasn't even asked if he wanted to drink anything else. The evening was over for us. As we were about to leave, another service representative came with a mini Manhattan as a small apology. She was the only one who seemed to feel sorry for us. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the restaurant at all and I'm still annoyed that I spent so much money on nothing.

The pub is in a good setting, relatively quiet, set back from the road and on the water. The building has some charm, but things went downhill when getting service. I felt I was ignored, and the long time it took to get served was frustrating. The burger was below average, overcooked, with little to commend the sauce. Fries were good. Glads of Merlot was good. The only good part of the service was the black lady who served the food with a genuine smile and interest in the customer. I would not return.

Really nice pub/restaurant with great views over the water. I had a reservation for the outdoor conservatory, which was delightful. It did get very warm (uncomfortably) in the direct sun, but they partially closed the roof blinds to provide some shade. The quality of food was excellent. My only complaint being the +/- 3 ounces of Hake, being a little smaller than I believe it should be, based on the cost of the dish. Service was perfect, there when you needed it, without being overbearing. I would definitely return.

A beautiful pub tucked out the way. Varying prices depending on whether you are at a table inside, the outside bar or the inside bar… and pretty high prices, i think it was between £7-8 for a pint. The view is second to none, far better than other Thames-side pubs like the Trafalgar etc. and the staff were great. Friends tried the fish&chips which was allegedly massive, delicious but again quite expensive. The outside area also has a secondary bar, blankets in case it gets cold, a ping pong table and plenty of seating - some heaters wouldn’t go amiss though. Good buzz.

The room itself is stunning with a lot of natural light and a view of the Thames River & O2. At dinner, we had real candles on the table which made the ambience cosy and intimate.
