An old pub and it has that quirky old English pub feel. The food was excellent for a pub and reasonably priced. Great service from a very pleasant bar lady. A little rough though with a group of rowdy lads who gave the two of us stares when we walked in presumably because we weren't locals. However had a hearty pub meal and left happy.😊 PS: The George was serving a Christmas menu which featured a huge range of meals. Very impressive. Recommend the onion rings, and I had the huge mixed grill which I honestly struggled to finish - 2 chicken fillets, a 10oz rump steak, cumberland sausage, 9oz gammon steak, fried egg and peas. They do pub classics, sarnies, baked potatoes with fillings, grills, big plates and more! Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for a hearty good value meal.

Visited during the Euro football competition. Two customers complained that the beer they wanted had run out. One of these customers said that the manager had forgotten to order the beer! So not a great atmosphere. Service was OK but not up to the standard when I was a regular between 2005 to 2009.

Great pub! The food was delicious and at a great price. The drink selection is good. The best about this place is the large sunny patio. The vibe is great. Inside, I love the decor. A mix of cosy and colourful

Good old pub. Didn't realise that it was there but will use it again as a nice surprise to find it

£7.99 for a hand and bacon toastie plus "loaded" chips. Two rashers of bacon and a blob of cheddar in white bread (after asking for brown). Chips, on menu as coming with shredded bacon but I invite you to find it in the photo provided. Spring onion sliced and tossed on casually. Slow service. I know this is London but this is a rip off.

The George is a charming local pub that's worth a visit. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a cozy, traditional atmosphere with a welcoming fireplace. I tried their fish and chips, which was satisfying - the fish was fresh and the batter crispy. The portions are generous, ensuring you won't leave hungry. The staff are friendly and attentive, providing quick service even during busier periods. Joanna served me and was fresh and attentive! They seem to know many of the regulars by name, which adds to the community feel of the place. Worth the visit !!

What happened? I used to be a resident on the Isle of Dogs and was a regular visitor as the food was amazing… The house fries were my go to every time, they had an amazing roast on the weekends and they had the best buffalo wings I’ve ever had even to this day! Recently viewed a property on the isle as I’m considering moving back to the area after being away for a couple of years and thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and visit the George. The menu has changed dramatically, feels more like a Wetherspoons rather than local pub grub. It is still a great pub with a lovely outside seating area, the staff were very chatty but unfortunately just amongst themselves as we stood awkwardly at the bar for a while waiting to be served. The food came reasonably quick but was very bland, dry and nothing that was fresh. I was left extremely underwhelmed after having so many fond memories of my times there. I hope they can go back to a more simpler menu with less items that are fresh and improved on quality. Great place for a pint but I’d skip this one if you were hungry

We used to come here all the time three years ago and the food was fresh and they had the best buffalo chicken wings and cheese sauce and fresh fish in the fish and chips with home made fries - but we dined here today and it was so disappointing and the menu has totally changed! Fish frozen, batter not fresh such a let down it's quite sad! Hopefully the food goes back to what it used to be.

Came here a few days ago as part of a work group for after work drinks. Service was friendly across the bar and then we took our drinks and sat in the conservatory area of the pub which was pleasant and cool. Nice range of flavoured Gins on offer. Good service.

One of the best pubs on the island, staff are always nice and serve with a smile! Food was good, would recommend the steak and chips, not a long wait! New landlady has taken over and seems to get the pub going again. Have to visit again soon!

It's nice to see a proper old Eastend pub still exists. Food is of good quality and Staff are very friendly and efficient. Sat outside in the lovely Garden area which has been well maintained and its nice, clean and tidy. Would definitely visit again.

We waited almost 2h for a Sunday roast and the food was tiny! Definitely not worth the money! Everything is expensive, small and the service deserves zero stars! Tables are dirty and no one comes to clean it. After waiting for 1h, we asked the waitress about it and the answer was extremely patronising and arrogant "it is not ready and I don't know when it will be".

Just moved to the area so i have been trying out new locals, this weekend i had family down and thought lets try here. Would defo say it was a hit!! The staff were lovely and very friendly. We only came in for drinks but would return for food next time

Slandered pub okay atmosphere the outside is nice located right next to a station.

I booked my daughters Baby Shower in the conservatory and we had the best day. Tilly looked after us from start to finish and was great with everything, from ordering our food spread to making sure all our guests were happy through out the day. Thank you Tilly and all the Staff at the George.

Tilly at the bar was extremely welcoming and helpful! Basically picked my dinner for me and wasn’t wrong with her selections. The fish and chips were great, as was the ale and beer.

We came here for Sunday lunch as a family after visiting here previously for a lovely meal. We encountered incompetent service. Over an hour wait for food. The order was completely wrong and we were so hungry that we had to wait and eat the awful roasts. The only positive was that the manager took the roast dinners off of our bill as an apology. We sadly won’t be returning as the other meals were not very nice either.

Came in here over the weekend and was greeted by a very helpful gentleman named Shane. Really made my time there feel important and was very attentive and always made sure me and my party were enjoying ourselves! Since this place has changed hands it’s gone uphill fast! Will definitely be coming back!

No ales or IPA were on offer during my visit. I settled for G&T as an alternative. Quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. A children's party appeared during my visit with toddlers running around banging and screaming. I don't know when it has become acceptable to hold children's parties in pubs but it is not the place when you are trying to enjoy a quiet drink. We ordered food and it took over half an hour to arrive and that was after asking the barmaid. The sausage and mash was stone cold and was sent back. The burger was also cold and nothing but average with a very small portion of chips. Not very good value for money. Very disappointing experience.

A local East end, isle of Dogs pub that has unfortunately gone slowly down hill, since being taken over by corporate run brewery's like Hippos Inns and now unfortunately and even worse Stonegate, I'll give the service a two stars because there is only two decent bar staff there, Mandy and Gemma,girls a star for each of you ⭐️⭐️

Lovely place. Food is good, but inconsistent, sometimes superb, sometimes good. Service is fine, but they have broken the toilet recently and the cleaner toilet is locked. Overall, it's my go-to place. Will review again in next 3 months

This place is a gem that is rarely found in this day and age. I think we can agree that the vibes in London have been quite difficult since the government messed up our economic situation, but this pub represents the United Kingdom in all its true glory. Pints are reasonably priced, and most importantly the people who run this pub don't see you as a customer but as someone who just wants to have a pint and chill with their friends, and they do everything - even if it's not standard procedure - to support this. We all know a pub is more than a building with alcohol. A pub is where you go after a long day to catch up with those you hold dear, to relax, to make memories, where problems and anxiety dissolve away. I could not more strongly recommend this pub to bring warmth and happiness into your life, whatever season, whatever situation you find yourself in. The George, from 1864, hopefully until forever. - a note from a first time visitor

Came for a Christmas party last week; New manager was very friendly and chatty and the whole team made us feel welcome……. Food was good and a great time was had by all. Hope to visit again soon.

Goodness, I can only guess this place has changed hands. I really hope they get their act together soon, I used to love this pub The service was terrible. The food was inedible. (I can't believe they had the nerve to bring it to the table). Such a shame!

Great pub, perfect for a relaxing catch up. I had cauliflower cheese & sweet potato fries and both were excellent, much better than expected. The falafel was a bit of a let-down in comparison, small portion for the high(er) price. But the cauliflower cheese was more than good enough to make up for it.

Nice beers, but the best part about this pub is the beer garden tucked away at the back. Great place to relax and enjoy your pint amongst the surrounding high-rise buildings.

There aren’t many pubs near Harbour Exchange Square. This is a good one, with a nice outdoor seating area in the back garden.

Arrived exhausted, no buses so had been walking far. Wine good but food very disappointing. Mash looked like flakes, Pie gloopy. Veg barely cooked. Busy pub, good atmosphere but staff stretched thin. Wouldn't revisit.

This used to be a great pub Now it is badly run and overpriced. They use old photos on Facebook to promote things rather than new ones. This used to a great pub. A double vodka and coke is around 14 pound. Food is frozen and no longer fresh yet they charge over 15 pound for a burger, 17 for fish and chips. Avoid this pub there are much better in E14 that offer value for money It’s a shame because the George used to great

Popped in for a quick drink while waiting for the trains. Ended up having a couple because this place had good vibes. The locals seemed to be enjoying themselves. Worth a visit when on the island.

That’s a traditional English Pub in the ultramodern Canary Wharf zone. You Don’t find it by Chance, as it is located in an uncrowded Street, you have to know it and go for it. It is operating since 1864. It has a very well decorated interior and it has a lovely Window glazed terrace.

Was really well looked after by Mark the new manager. Catered for me and my friends in the conservatory at short notice. Good food and drinks and a thoroughly enjoyable visit!

What a great pub, good spot for a couple of cheeky pints on the way home from the office. Very friendly staff The food looked pretty good and the beer is well kept. Will definetly be dropping in again
