I visited late afternoon. This place has recently been vey successfully refurbished. It now has a very light and airy feel to it. There is a good range of seating both inside and outside. There was a good cross section of people here: a mixture of very local residents and those from further afield. Bar prices (I paid £6 for a pint of lager) were predictably rather pricey (in line with most places in this area) as was the (to limited selection of) food. I am not aware of any available discounts in terms of happy hours, etc. I did not have any food on this occasion. No beer mats, which at these prices, was ‘disappointing’ (covered, as I was by drips of my own beer). Anyway, the free WiFi was good. I was served by a very pleasant, welcoming young woman who was efficient and helpful.

It was an anniversary dinner for me and my partner, and we had a lovely time! The food was excellent and quick, the staff were lovely and friendly (even added a couple candles to our puddings after we mentioned our anniversary). When booking the table, we asked for a quiet table and spot, and that was exactly what we got. We asked for a couple of cocktails that they didn't quite have the ingredients for, so they made some ad-hoc for us with what they had and thought was best, which made for a great couple of drinks!

Showed up there on a hot afternoon while in the area. Beautiful Victorian pub, inside and out. Friendly and relaxed staff, honest prices, and an environment that puts you in the mood for a second round.

We had a fabulous meal here with family celebrating our son’s graduation. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They asked if we would prefer to sit out as it was a nice day and moved tables around for us. Would definitely recommend and will be back. The food was delicious. Thank you for making a wonderful day even better.

Great for our funeral wake, 50 persons. Service fantastic, lovely venue and Ivan was great in keeping us updated via email before our event. Would definitely recommend.

I'm an occasional visitor to the Coborn, meeting friends for lunch. Can't fault it. Friendly service, quite an imaginative menu, excellent range of beers and wines. The facilities are good too. It's not cheap, but for the overall quality I'd say prices are quite reasonable. If I had a pub like this near me, I'd use it a lot.

Watched the football here on Saturday after moving in just across the road. What a great pub - the food was amazing (crab burger and fish and chips both delicious). Great Guinness, really good service and great atmosphere. Very glad to have as our local!

Have been to the Coborn on several occasions over the past few years. It has changed over this time and has had an internal facelift. This Friday hosted a live band, who were very good, playing various songs from the 70's and 80's. They have a good menu selection which might be a touch more expensive than standard pub grub, but not so much more than that. Expect to pay about £5 a pint for your beer. Very good atmosphere and friendly staff. Update July 2024. Still a great place to meet up with friends, with reasonable beer prices for the area under £6 a pint.

Took my family for Sunday lunch and they all loved it! It’s already a fave of mine but they’d be never been. They were not disappointed. Food, wine, service and atmosphere was wonderful. The meat and veggie roasts exceeded our expectations in terms of size and taste-“ - delicious! Service from booking the table to the end of our afternoon was wonderful - friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!

What a gem of a pub. Ambiance is very cozy and the staff is super friendly. Service was great from start to finish. They had reserved a whole room for my group, which made the dinner time even more enjoyable. Food was good too. Definitely coming back.

I ordered the venison, mushroom and leek pie, thinking I was going to get a delicious rich, meaty textured filling- what you's expect from any pie! From my experience of cooking with venison it is a dark meat and you get a dark rich gravy. Not with this pie. What I was presented with was a pale creamy, mushy mess, no texture of meat encased in a soggy pastry crust and Bisto gravy. Bland, unseasoned mash potato lacking any butter , maybe it had a smidge of milk, all for £20, I would have had better value from a pie bought at Greggs. To be fair , I was offered a refund, but I didn't take it as my point was, if your selling a venison pie for £20 then make sure it is of a certain standard and it actually has venison in it. My guess, it came out of the freezer frozen and got muddled up with a chicken and mushroom pie. Not that it had any chicken in it either. The interior of the pub was lovely though, but I wouldn't go back. Definitely not worth the money.

I found this pub years ago while staying nearby and it left such an impression that now 5+ years later when friends wanted to go to a pub, as they'd never been, I looked it up again and we managed to have a wonderful evening. The food was as good as I had remember and the staff were absolutely lovely!

I booked a side room for a small celebration with friends on a Sunday afternoon. We had Provence Rosé and a vegetarian sharing platter. The whole booking process was smooth and responsive. When we arrived, everything was ready, and my friends loved the space. Staff were attentive and helpful. The bubbles were perfect and the food was very good - and a generous platter for our group of 12. Thank you so much for making the occasion feel special and memorable.

I had a great Sunday roast there, tasty and a large choice of drinks to pick from.

We were visiting our son in Bow on a Saturday night & needed somewhere to eat as their house was upside down with decorating. They chose The Cobourn as they hadn't tried it yet. We hadn't booked and they were busy but a table was found & we were served quickly. The food was lovely & the staff were very friendly & accommodating. We hope to visit again next time we're down from the Midlands. Thanks 😊

Dear Team I have lived in Bow all of my life, the Coborn being my local. My husband and myself have dined here many times over the years. Sadly, my husband 72 and myself 70 have had two bad food experiences recently. Sunday lunch was awful, the roast was not edible (hard packet roast potatoes) several other diners also complained it was cold and the beef (my husband's meal was again too tough for him to eat Today I had a vegetarian burger, two flat cheap buns and a cold burger and chips £24-00 I had to put the food in a plastic box, to take away to throw away it was non edible. I didn't complain as the staff are lovely and overworked. We spend quite a lot of money, we always have a good bottle of red wine with out meal. Really feel sad to write this damming review.

I went for Sunday lunch with six friends after a walk around Tower Hamlets Cemetery. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. Thoroughly recommended.

I booked for Sunday lunch at The Coborn as I’ve had some wonderful lunches there in the past and it didn’t disappoint this time either. The food is lovely and extremely well cooked so hats off to their chef. The staff are very friendly and obliging. Overall, it was a great experience, as I’ve come to expect from the venue.

The mac n cheese was superb , the chef is an artist, staff are awesome , sexy and its cheap too. Really really really delighted, needed 100 words

Completely revamped... lot's of areas, all with stylish and welcoming interiors. The dining area to the right on entering is quite grand... The usual fine ales from Youngs and a range of guest beers. Seated and heated area to the front. On a quiet residential side road... an oasis off the Mile End road.

One of our top local pubs! We swing by there at least once a week, sometimes just for a quick pint. The staff are always welcoming, creating an excellent atmosphere, and the food is consistently delicious.We've pretty much tried everything on the menu, but their smashed burger is a real standout. The fish and chips are also top-notch, and the portions are impressively generous.

Great food and service. Good wheelchair access and a decent accessible toilet. The only dtaw back for the accessible toilet is the flusher is in the corner and not reachable if you don't need to get out of your wheelchair

A nice local pub. We chose here because of a friends gluton intolerance, which they said they could cater for. My mashed burger & Fries was nice with a Whitebait starter. We shared a couple of bottles of wine. The staff were very attentive tobour needs. The dog friendly rules were also much appreciated.

Fantastic day for a group of us watching the 6 Nations Rugby. Food and service brilliant, the staff were very attentive and we were able to order drinks and food continuously at our table (12 of us) while we watched the matches (14.00 - 19.00) Third year for us at The Coborn, and we will definitely be back!

I came in alone for a Sunday roast but hadn't booked. I asked the staff behind the bar if there was a table for one and was told that I could sit anywhere without a 'Reserved' sign on it. I took a seat at a table opposite the bar. After 10 mins, nobody had come to take my order, so I had to download the 'Order to table app', which took a while as I had to download, register and then sign in. My drink promptly arrived, and food wait was reasonable - not too slow, but not very fast. The roast was delicious - the meat (pork belly) was hot, juicy and perfectly cooked, with crispy crackling. Decent sized portions and very tasty. I also ordered a side of cauliflower cheese which was lovely. But the gravy portion was just too small. At no point during my visit did anybody come over and ask how my meal was, or if I needed anything else (would have liked to ask for more gravy), in fact, at one point someone came to take the empty side plate for the cauliflower cheese, and swiftly left without any actual communication. I did see the staff asking others how their food was, so not sure if I was missed as I was a solo diner. I ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was hot, soft and delicious. Prices are reasonable. I would return, but would hope that the service was a bit better.

Food was amazing, big portions and service from Victoria (Smiley Waitress) was so helpful and attentive just at the rights times.

We booked The Snug for an event and it was perfect. The staff were really friendly and incredible helpful and accommodating. We had a great time and would highly recommend it here.

First visit to this wonderful pub. Such a lovely atmosphere with cosy nooks and bigger spaces for groups. We went for a meal for a family birthday and will definitely be returning. Service was excellent and the food was delicious with lots of options for the vegans in our group.

A really nice pub, it's especially nice since the refurbishment. The staff are friendly, and very welcoming to us with a baby. We had room for the buggy and they had baby changing facilities, which can be hard to find around this area.

We came here for Sunday lunch and were both really pleased with the food and friendly staff. I had the roast chicken and my wife had the roast pork belly, both were cooked perfectly. Lovely atmosphere and very relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. I'll pop by again next time I'm in the area.

We booked our Christmas Staff meal here for the 3rd year in a row. The menu choice of three courses was varied, so something for everyone. Most people had the Turkey roast dinner which was huge and 'very good' I was informed and I opted for the roasted trout, which was delicious. The pub was very busy, so the atmosphere was buzzing in the main areas, we were in the little snug room, so enough privacy to chat and celebrate together as colleagues but to still be able to hear the music and the bustle in the main pub was great. The service was excellent, we couldn't fault the evening - so thank you all at The Coborn.

All round great pub I gladly call my local. It’s pretty spacious with various different areas to sit as well as a lovely, heated outside area.

Walked in without a booking and was very pleased that they were able to seat me for sunday lunch. Roast Beef Sunday Lunch was very good really enjoyed my meal and the Poached Pear with Pistachio's & Chocolate Ice Cream Dessert was just fantastic. Service was excellant to, with servers on hand to look after you.very very good. Many thanks to the team at The Coburn for doing such a great job hosting my lunch.Great atmosohere to. Gorgeous pub, really cosy. Roast dinner is top notch and I love the wine selection. Also staff are so friendly and service is great. Oh and super dog friendly which puts it at the top of my list!

My mistake - Young’s beer! I confused it with another pub I frequent that serves Fuller’s, The Pride of Spitalfields. Both first class pubs serving superb beers.

A terrific pub in Mile End that retains its local feel unlike others in the area. A first class pub and credit to the excellent staff who take great pride in the quality of their beer, especially the Fullers. Lovely pub cats too.

Had a Sunday roast and not impressed. Dry overcooked roast potatoes, dry overcooked Yorkshire pudding. Only good thing was the vegetables and I rarely eat vegetables!

Fantastic local gastro pub , very atmospheric charming place for dinner , or a family gathering. I am a vegan, and there was plenty of choice. In fact, we ordered too much. What makes the Coburn even more special is their delightful staff . Amalia is a real star ,lovely, helpful, and excellent customer care. She really looked after us. Our yearly Friendsmas came round once again and once again we had a superb time at The Coborn. Great food, lovely atmosphere and the team looked after us amazingly. If there’s a smaller group of you 10-12 people highly recommend using the snug.

Worst roast dinner I’ve ever had.. 3 of us couldn’t eat our beef it was so raw .. my partner was the only one who did even tho he didn’t like it and his now got salmonella poisoning his really ill.. awful food would never go back ..

We enjoyed our roast lunch although one of us felt the potatoes could have been crisper. Disappointed that 2 of the 4 starters were unavailable and we had the last portion of the third, although we were not charged for that which was appreciated. Very noisy but this maybe because we were at a table in middle of room and at least there was no music.

Had my birthday in the pub last night. We got Terry and Dave’s corner round to the side. Really cost and intimate. Perfect for a small group. The staff were really attentive. Food was excellent. The Mac and cheese in particular is one of the best I’ve ever had. Cannot recommend this place enough

Absolutely love coming to The Coborn. We live in Singapore but head to London each year and without fail book in for Sunday Lunch here. Everything about the place is fabulous from the staff to the atmosphere to the food. It was so good this time, we came back on Monday for lunch and I can highly recommend the doorstop sandwiches. Looking forward to our next visit in June 2024 already!

Great Sunday roast on a sunny day on the terrace a few weeks ago. The staff was really lovely and the food delicious. Inside the pub is very elegantly decorated, spacious and cosy at the same time depending on where you choose to sit. I love the idea of leaving a different book on each table.

Haven’t been here since it became a Youngs pub. They’ve done a very good job with the place. Spacious and light while still maintaining its charm. We had the Sunday roast and we were very impressed. We had the pork belly, the crackling was spot on. Veg was fresh and cooked perfectly. The gravy was full of flavour and a good consistency. Cannot fault it at all. Pretty good price for London too.

Such a great place. I wouldn't know it was there until a friend took me there. Great food and drinks, great ambience, love the books theme. Service was also great. It could be cleaner though. So 4 on the atmosphere.
