The Coborn Arms in Tower Hamlets

Website says that kitchen closes at 10 pm. At 9:12 pm they told us that kitchen is close because "they have literally no one, it is January". Completely disappointing.

Lily and Raja were amazing and handled a stressful experience with ease

The atmosphere and design of the place are fantastic! Our food took a little while to arrive, but we weren't in a rush. It was clear that the food was delivered with love. A big thank you to Juliet and the team for being so accommodating! We appreciated it!

It's the first new year we have had in London for a while and I can say it was relaxed with a great atmosphere. We had the 3 course set menu to dine away the evening. Then a few more drinks to get to the new year. Food was spot on. We would do it again

First time having Christmas lunch at the coborn and it was great . Food was great and the ladies who served us were really nice and on the ball . Atmosphere was good and would definitely book for next year .

Had a fab office Xmas do at The Coborn. The food was very tasty, with lots of menu choices (including vegetarian), the staff were super friendly - it has that wonderful neighbourhood vibe about it. We used The Snug, which was beautifully decorated and gave us easy access to their well stocked bar (and they make a great margarita!).

Drinks and food were marvelous! + we loved the atmosphere! So cozy. And Lily is the sweetest waitress. 10/10

Better than most pub menu’s. Very well cooked food. cooked to a high standard. some of the best pub food I have had in a long time. Great scotch egg perfectly cooked Good fish and chips. Good wine list. Great service. Value for money I will go again.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for a brilliant meal we had a couple of weeks ago. We were a group of four friends having an early Christmas roast dinner. It was the best service I have had all year. We were served by three different ladies who were just so brilliant, warm and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble - including dog treats for the spaniel! We all said afterwards it was the best service we’d had in a long time. Including, in comparison, to some very “fancy” places. The food was superb. Perfect proper pub food! The whole package was spot on and there was nothing any of us could fault. In fact, I think it outshines a lot of other pubs in London that pride themselves on being really upmarket (aka overpriced!). The staff really made the whole experience. Young’s are very lucky to have them.

We had a fantastic time celebrating my husband’s 30th at the Coburn with extended family. The orangery is a gorgeous, light, intimate area which was perfect. The food and service was exceptional, as usual and we felt very well looked after. Thank you so much team!

Lily is brilliant!! Such a lovely person. Pork belly, yorkies, & stuffing were 5 stars, but gravy & potatoes 2 stars (too thin / flavourless & too soggy / not crisp). Sticky toffee & Apple crumble 5 stars too!! We loved sitting in the little nook, thanks for a lovely Sunday

Waited at the bar ages , before being served, the first time . Was completely ignored the second time. Other customers were complaining about the lack of service, although the bar was adequately staffed . Shame because the pub and music was lovely. Don’t think we will return.

Went to the Colborn on tuesday and had a lovely evening, Lily was very attentive and walked us through the wine list. There was cats and dogs in the pub and got a few strokes. Couldn’t recommend more and thanks again Lily.

There was a good cross section of people here: a mixture of very local residents and those from further afield. Bar prices (I paid £6 for a pint of lager) were predictably rather pricey (in line with most places in this area) as was the (to limited selection of) food. I am not aware of any available discounts in terms of happy hours, etc. I did not have any food on this occasion. I was served by a very pleasant, welcoming young woman who was efficient and helpful.

Nice Pub. Just a little problem, I've Ask a glass of rosé on account of my accent the barman told me I have No french wine and he proposed me two bottles one of italian rosé and another one of Côté de Provence which IS french.

Great food and lovely people. The four of us (two adults and two kids) had a really good Sunday lunch at The Coburn. I had the vegetarian roast with a vegetable wellington which was packed full of flavour. All the food was great 🍽️ 👍🏻❤️

It was an anniversary dinner for me and my partner, and we had a lovely time! The food was excellent and quick, the staff were lovely and friendly (even added a couple candles to our puddings after we mentioned our anniversary). When booking the table, we asked for a quiet table and spot, and that was exactly what we got. We asked for a couple of cocktails that they didn't quite have the ingredients for, so they made some ad-hoc for us with what they had and thought was best, which made for a great couple of drinks!

Showed up there on a hot afternoon while in the area. Beautiful Victorian pub, inside and out. Friendly and relaxed staff, honest prices, and an environment that puts you in the mood for a second round.

We had a fabulous meal here with family celebrating our son’s graduation. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They asked if we would prefer to sit out as it was a nice day and moved tables around for us. Would definitely recommend and will be back. The food was delicious. Thank you for making a wonderful day even better.

Great for our funeral wake, 50 persons. Service fantastic, lovely venue and Ivan was great in keeping us updated via email before our event. Would definitely recommend.

I'm an occasional visitor to the Coborn, meeting friends for lunch. Can't fault it. Friendly service, quite an imaginative menu, excellent range of beers and wines. The facilities are good too. It's not cheap, but for the overall quality I'd say prices are quite reasonable. If I had a pub like this near me, I'd use it a lot.

Watched the football here on Saturday after moving in just across the road. What a great pub - the food was amazing (crab burger and fish and chips both delicious). Great Guinness, really good service and great atmosphere. Very glad to have as our local!

Great food and amazing service!

Have been to the Coborn on several occasions over the past few years. It has changed over this time and has had an internal facelift. This Friday hosted a live band, who were very good, playing various songs from the 70's and 80's. They have a good menu selection which might be a touch more expensive than standard pub grub, but not so much more than that. Expect to pay about £5 a pint for your beer. Very good atmosphere and friendly staff. Update July 2024. Still a great place to meet up with friends, with reasonable beer prices for the area under £6 a pint.

Took my family for Sunday lunch and they all loved it! It’s already a fave of mine but they’d be never been. They were not disappointed. Food, wine, service and atmosphere was wonderful. The meat and veggie roasts exceeded our expectations in terms of size and taste-“ - delicious! Service from booking the table to the end of our afternoon was wonderful - friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!

What a gem of a pub. Ambiance is very cozy and the staff is super friendly. Service was great from start to finish. They had reserved a whole room for my group, which made the dinner time even more enjoyable. Food was good too. Definitely coming back.

I ordered the venison, mushroom and leek pie, thinking I was going to get a delicious rich, meaty textured filling- what you's expect from any pie! From my experience of cooking with venison it is a dark meat and you get a dark rich gravy. Not with this pie. What I was presented with was a pale creamy, mushy mess, no texture of meat encased in a soggy pastry crust and Bisto gravy. Bland, unseasoned mash potato lacking any butter , maybe it had a smidge of milk, all for £20, I would have had better value from a pie bought at Greggs. To be fair , I was offered a refund, but I didn't take it as my point was, if your selling a venison pie for £20 then make sure it is of a certain standard and it actually has venison in it. My guess, it came out of the freezer frozen and got muddled up with a chicken and mushroom pie. Not that it had any chicken in it either. The interior of the pub was lovely though, but I wouldn't go back. Definitely not worth the money.

I found this pub years ago while staying nearby and it left such an impression that now 5+ years later when friends wanted to go to a pub, as they'd never been, I looked it up again and we managed to have a wonderful evening. The food was as good as I had remember and the staff were absolutely lovely!

I booked a side room for a small celebration with friends on a Sunday afternoon. We had Provence Rosé and a vegetarian sharing platter. The whole booking process was smooth and responsive. When we arrived, everything was ready, and my friends loved the space. Staff were attentive and helpful. The bubbles were perfect and the food was very good - and a generous platter for our group of 12. Thank you so much for making the occasion feel special and memorable.

We were visiting our son in Bow on a Saturday night & needed somewhere to eat as their house was upside down with decorating. They chose The Cobourn as they hadn't tried it yet. We hadn't booked and they were busy but a table was found & we were served quickly. The food was lovely & the staff were very friendly & accommodating. We hope to visit again next time we're down from the Midlands. Thanks 😊

Dear Team I have lived in Bow all of my life, the Coborn being my local. My husband and myself have dined here many times over the years. Sadly, my husband 72 and myself 70 have had two bad food experiences recently. Sunday lunch was awful, the roast was not edible (hard packet roast potatoes) several other diners also complained it was cold and the beef (my husband's meal was again too tough for him to eat Today I had a vegetarian burger, two flat cheap buns and a cold burger and chips £24-00 I had to put the food in a plastic box, to take away to throw away it was non edible. I didn't complain as the staff are lovely and overworked. We spend quite a lot of money, we always have a good bottle of red wine with out meal. Really feel sad to write this damming review.

I booked for Sunday lunch at The Coborn as I’ve had some wonderful lunches there in the past and it didn’t disappoint this time either. The food is lovely and extremely well cooked so hats off to their chef. The staff are very friendly and obliging. Overall, it was a great experience, as I’ve come to expect from the venue.

The mac n cheese was superb , the chef is an artist, staff are awesome , sexy and its cheap too. Really really really delighted, needed 100 words

Completely revamped... lot's of areas, all with stylish and welcoming interiors. The dining area to the right on entering is quite grand... The usual fine ales from Youngs and a range of guest beers. Seated and heated area to the front. On a quiet residential side road... an oasis off the Mile End road.

Great food and service. Good wheelchair access and a decent accessible toilet. The only dtaw back for the accessible toilet is the flusher is in the corner and not reachable if you don't need to get out of your wheelchair

One of our top local pubs! We swing by there at least once a week, sometimes just for a quick pint. The staff are always welcoming, creating an excellent atmosphere, and the food is consistently delicious.We've pretty much tried everything on the menu, but their smashed burger is a real standout. The fish and chips are also top-notch, and the portions are impressively generous.
