Contrary to the last two reviews of the Afternoon Tea at The Perkin Reveller, a friend and I had the Tea on 20th July and thought it first-class! We had enjoyed an hour's stroll around Superbloom and then indulged in our Tea at 2pm. We had a corner spot outside under a canopy with comfortable sofas and wicker chairs. The service was courteous and efficient. The sandwiches were fresh, there were two scones each, fruit and plain, with clotted cream and raspberry jam and three delicious cakes each, with Jubilee decoration. We had a glass of bubbles and Earl Grey tea and very much enjoyed the whole offering. Do not be put off by the previous reviews - our experience was very different - satisfying and worthwhile!!!

This place has reopened as a “pop up” and their first day was June 9th. As we walked by to go to the Tower of London we were invited in for an afternoon tea at a cost of £39.80 instead of the usual £45 as an opening day special. The price was per person and included a glass of Prosecco so we decided to give it a go. The space was very sparse and concrete with maybe 10 tables and only 2 of them had guests. The sandwiches were dry, the cakes and tarts were dry and all covered in purple icing (for the platinum jubilee no doubt) but was very very sweet. We left most of them on the tray at the end. The scones were the only good thing offered- delicious. The service was pretty much non existent. There were several staff standing behind a counter and none of them cared to offer a refill of tea while our server seemed to be missing. Another local couple sitting next to us were apologizing that this isn’t a good representation of afternoon tea in England (we are visiting from Canada and this was our first experience) To make it all worse after we got up and found someone to take our money for the bill, they added an automatic £9 service charge!! What service? We let them know we were disappointed by the food and our first experience but they just responded that this was a pop up afternoon tea and we were walk in customers, if we wanted better we could go somewhere like the Ritz that specializes in afternoon tea… What a rip. Don’t let the charm of the area persuade you. I would give it zero stars if it were an option. PS. We are Canadian, this is as polite as we can be with the experience we had.

Stay Away! They have reopened as The Reveller for High Tea and it’s 45£ Per person(June 2022). You would think it would be something special for that price but it was very disappointing. Dry stale sandwiches. Scones were what you might get on a cheep flight and the sweets were not even worth eating🤢. Another couple was there and they were also complaining about how poor the quality was and they ended up being the highlight of this experience. We had a nice visit and laughed about how terrible it was. At the end of this clever high tea scam they took the liberty in adding a 10£ services fee just to add insult to injury.

I have to be honest, it’s not ideal that tourists will pay for overpriced basic quality food. The toilets smelt like a bag of seaweed with a hint of dead crab. The radiator in the gents is rusty and very dirty. The basic cleaning needs to be a lot better. £3.50 for a 200ml bottle of coke is outrageous, the menus have no indication of the volume of drink. The staff didn’t know the difference between Dijon mustard and English mustard. Not worth the visit, it’s nothing like a “mess hall”, the food offering is very limited. if I was Mark Sargeant I would get my name off the restaurant asap.

Was under impression restaurant was within Tower of London but it wasn’t. Beware as you can’t re-enter the Tower. As a result we altered the time of our booking to later via Opentable. Greeted by a grumpy waitress who said she hadn’t received the change. Restaurant wasn’t as special as website made out and ambience was disappointing especially as this was a special birthday treat. Service was awful, the waiter was pleasant but no idea of any details on the menu, made out it would be an issue to switch mash for chips. Food took over 45minutes to arrive when restaurant was quiet and was dumped in a dish, not presented as advertised on the website. Was mediocre at best. Asked about ice cream and was told “oh I think we only do chocolate or vanilla“. Couldn’t be bothered to find out, not very helpful. Not offered any apology for the wait and there was surprise when we removed the discretionary service charge. Will not be returning or recommending.

This was without doubt one of the worst visits I have ever encountered, and it only lasted 15 minutes! Especially after booking a table for an early mothers day surprise on Saturday! I was waiting to be sat down with complete dismissal, I was acknowledged after a few minutes and was told I wouldn't be kept waiting. Another 5 minutes and the same waitress said the same thing, "I wouldn't be kept waiting"!! What!!! I mentioned I booked a table. Wasn't asked for my name nor reference number and was just sat in the restaurant. We were given menus and the waitress just walked off without offering a drink or anything light to start. With over 8 years experience in the pub/dining space, this is a common courtesy and should be exercised by professional working members of staff! There were over 5 members of staff casually walking around without even acknowledging we were still waiting for our orders to be taken. My mother grabbed the attention of a waitress, (much to her obvious disappointment) and asked if they had a gluten free menu. Her reply was simply no, but she can tell us what was edible once my mother had made up her mind. So what, if she chooses something that isn't edible, it would take the waitress to go and ask the chef, come back and ask for another alternative?? And surprise surprise... then she walked off again! 10 MINUTES HAD PASSED AND STILL NOTHING!! This was ridiculous! And I don't expect a reply saying they were understaffed or over-worked, as a witness, I can safely say this was a relaxed afternoon without any sense of urgency, it was dead! Still nothing, so we got up and left. Walked right passed the staff waiting for an apology or explanation, but we were even ignored walking out the door!! Complete lack of professionalism and customer service. The staff need to be read up on the menus and taught some bloody manners! For someone who was looking to order 3 courses and drinks, I'm glad the money was spent elsewhere! Ridiculous!

What a great choice - menu whilst not the most extensive means that everything was great quality and cooked to perfection, As it wasn't particularly busy when we arrived and my friend asked what other cocktails they did (not on their menu) we had the undivided attention of Roel the bartender who took the time to ask what ingredients we liked, before providing us with some wonderful off-menu cocktails. Alice our Waitress took the time and patience to ensure that we had everything that we wanted and needed - including allowing us to mix and match dishes from the Remembrance menu and the A La Carte menu. All 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wouldn't hesitate in going back.

Wanted a scenic spot for lunch while touring London with a relative. Had a window table with a great view of the Thames and the bridge. The dining area is a bright space with glass walls and decorated in a simple, modern style. Located in front of one end of the Tower of London and convenient to both piers. Service was attentive, professional and friendly. I had Toad in the Hole while my companion had a burger. Both were flavorful, nicely presented and in large portions. In addition to the dining room, there is a quick service section with a more limited menu. Looks like it would be a good place for a quick bite, coffee, etc.

We chose Sargeants Mess because of its close proximity to the Tower of London. It met our expectations in terms of ambience and decor. However, the food let the side down. The mashed potatoes had whole new potatoes in it, my food was cold, I had the salmon. The salmon was lukewarm and the potatoes were cold (the menu didn't say whether my potatoes should be hot/cold). My father's meal was also lukewarm, he had the lamb 'special'. The only thing that came out piping hot was the side order of chips. There was only one gluten/dairy free dessert available which was sorbet. We had gone there for a celebratory meal and would have splashed out on 3 courses but didn't because of the lack of attention to dietary requirements. This seems to be aimed at the passing tourist trade and has the ambience of a bar/café rather than a destination restaurant. Service was slow and the staff showed no warmth or personality. We ordered cocktails (hoping to enjoy them while browsing the menu) but they took so long to arrive that we had to order food and our starters arrived on the table at about the same time as the drinks. This seemed to be because the bar was so busy satisfying the numerous tourists drinking on the terrace - surely diners should be given some kind of priority? The menu was very safe and resembled 'pub grub' but the quality and presentation of the food was fine. This is all a bit of a pity because we were hoping for an interesting new addition or our local dining scene but we left disappointed.

After our tour of the Tower of London, we wondered along the River Thames and stumbled upon this gem of a place. With it's stunning views of the River Thames and Tower bridge, this restaurant has an overall great location and atmosphere. We beat the lunch time rush and got in early. I would recommend making a reservation if you are planning on eating here, as it did get very busy. The menu was limited but we had the best fish and chips of our entire trip here! They have a seating area outside but we chose to sit inside because it was cold. Highly recommend Perkin Reveller for all who are visiting the area.

I've been here a few times and used to rave about it - very simple food done well, the location is good and it has a great outside area. However, I went recently in the summer, having booked and asked to sit outside, they said no, even though it was empty. It made no sense as no one came during the time I was there, so it frustrated me some lot. The menu is limited and doesn't change that much but it is reasonable.

A very handy cafe for the Tower of London with a chilled vibe with great food and wine. Some nice choices of small plates and cakes and probably the best black pudding sausage roll ever!

I have never written a one star (or two star for that matter!) review, but sadly I feel this warrants it. I always try to look for the good and never want to complain but this proved tricky not to.

The worst hamburguer I ever had, it's was dry, flavourless, and for £15 I was expecting at least am acceptable burger. Even Macdonalds is better than the food in here. The staff is friendly and the location is amazing. But if you are looking for food avoid this!

We popped in here for coffee and cakes. The restaurant is split into two halves, dining and lounge. We were seated by a host in the lounge area. After waiting for 20 minutes with no one approaching us, we (along with two other tables), decided they obviously didn’t want our business, so left,

Had a fantastic day in London with friends, it was a present for my 50th, they took me to the Tower of London then on to a restaurant (Perkins Reveller). Unfortunately the restaurant run out of most of the food and then drink, unbelievable!! But I must say, the food that was delivered was excellent!! There is no excuses for running out of food or drink in a restaurant, especially if that is your business. The headwaiter knew that we was unhappy with the situation, and gave us a round of drinks, even though this was a fantastic gesture, It did not get away from the fact, that it but the experience at the restaurant as poor, and excuse the pun, but it left us with a bitter taste in our mouths. The staff were very helpful once you got there attention, which was difficult at times, and surprisingly enough the restaurant wasn’t that busy at the time, so I do worry how they perform when it is. The only thing I can say about it, it is in a fantastic location, what a shame! And whoever does the ordering, needs to get their act together.
