Great British Fish and Chips in Tower Hamlets

Decent place to grap fish and chips.

One of the best chippies in east/Central London. The foods always quality and the prices are fare and the portion sizes are good aswell. I have only been there for takeaway, it's just really good food and welcoming staff.

I had the opportunity to try the Fish and Chips near Tower Bridge and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. Instead of opting for fish and chips, I opted for chicken nuggets and chips, out of an unwarranted fear about the quality of the fish. Surprisingly, this was one of the few positives of the visit – a small space where you could grab sauces and cutlery, which added a bit of comfort to an otherwise unsatisfying experience. The food, which cost £10, was tasteless. The chicken nuggets were dry and flavorless and the chips were equally boring. As I ate, I felt that the hunger was not only not quenched, but was amplified. I really felt lucky that I didn't choose fish, because given the low quality of the dish, I don't think I would have had a better impression if I had gone for the traditional option. In short, I don't think this place is worth the money or time invested. Although it may seem attractive to tourists, who are often attracted by its location close to a major tourist landmark, the reality is that the offerings are unimpressive and the prices are exaggerated for the quality on offer. It would have been preferable to choose a sandwich from a nearby shop, which would certainly have been a more satisfying choice. I do not recommend this place and think you should look for other options if you want to enjoy a decent meal in the Tower Bridge area.

The fish is tasteless and you get very little fries which are also soggy and with a soft drink that is so cold you think it came from the freezer you pay more than 16 pounds

Tasteless fish. French fries seem like yesterday. Everything ended up in the trash can! Disgusting tourist trap. Here, just like with the competition below, 14 pounds was spent unnecessarily.

Went here a year ago. The owner was so sweet to help me use my cellphone as I am from the US. Oh.. The Best fish and chips I have ever had.. Thank you for being so kind to me. I will never forget your kindness, or your food.. ♥️ ♥️

Quick service and nice food and price

Honestly, I had a feeling this place was just a tourist trap for foreigners like myself wanting fish and chips in London. Its in a convenient spot to grab food, but don't do it. I've had far better fish and chips elsewhere.

No crisp on fries and the fish. The guy lied to me they were Haddock not Cod. They fried fish and chips to simply pass off as purchases are made, which meant mushy food all around. The till guy lied saying the fish was only 5 minutes old. Also lied that they would fry me a new one and made me wait, only to give me the old one they had in the warmer afterall. If you're a tourist and didn't know better like I did, go eat here for sure.

On our holiday to London the kids would love to try Fish & Chips. So we went to the tower and got the Fish & Chips (and Nuggets & Chips) from Great British Fish and Chips. Our 14-year old daughter wanted to order and the owner had a nice conversation with us and offered her a job so she could pay next time. The Fish & Chips were really lovely, so in the next week we've visited them two more times. We also tried the Fishburger, the Cheeseburger and Hotdog. And everytime the food was great and the owner really friendly. We had a nice conversation about having 4 kids and why The Netherlands sometimes is called Holland. We really recommend this place! If you never had a real British fish&chips, please don't do it to yourself 😬 go somewhere where you can actually get a fresh fish and fresh chips as this was really nasty experience and we are quite familiar with this dish after 10+ years of living in UK. Just don't do it. It's very quick tho. The service. And that's it. 🤢 Fir those who are writing this was one of the best f&ch they had so far... did you even tried a real fresh one at the sea side? Brrr... still got that terrible taste in my mouth...

The portion is a good size, the fish tastes pretty good but the breading has no taste. It's not very crispy (neither the fries nor the fish)

Yes, it was ready quickly but there were no spices, the fries weren't cooked properly and all in all the taste of the food wasn't worth the money.

Came here the other day and just had a portion of chips. I enjoyed them and you can help yourself to all the free sauces. I paid £4 for a box of chips and they was a decent size. I would return here next time I'm here visiting.

Bones in fish, not skinned, chips were bland

Staff at Tower Hill were adorable with the kids; teachers got free drinks! Serving was incredibly fast and food was delicious. Thank you! We'll definitely be back next year!

The chips were undercooked. The chicken nuggets for the children simply awful. We picked this over the other fish and chips place simply because it had Great British on the name but it doesn’t deserve to be called fish and chips let alone Great British Fish and Chips. This is a let down to any tourists who want an authentic chippy.

Street food is not to be excellent but this is really terrible, no taste at all normally I won’t complain but the meal cost me 14£ (same as in a real pub, that’s why I’m pissed 😩). The place is correct (it’s street food though), service is fast, I took the fish & chip and what a disappointment 😳 first time ever I prefer McDonald food to any other food. Might be ok for local, but tourist people for this price should go to a real pub🙂‍↕️.

As for Fish&Chips, one of the best I've ever eaten. Quick service, price reasonsble, tasted delicious - much better than we would have expected! A nie płacę to jest and eat, with a view for Tower Bridge and Tower itself.

the frying of the fish was not the best

Classic fish & chips as we know it from London. Food is good and the portion size is more than sufficient. Please remember salt, ketchup and the like. This is available separately for you to season yourself. Price is a bit higher here than in corner stores. The location and the view of the Tower of London are unique.

We've ordered fish & chips. We got a bucket full with a fried fishfilet and about 30 fries. My first bite from the fish included a minumum of 3 fishbones. That totally destroyed my appetite. My partner had more luck and got no fishbones and enjoyed it. It was her first time fishnchips. For me it wasn't worth it. The portion cost about 13-14 pounds. It got served very fast. I guess we waited a maximum of 20 seconds. About 30-40meters away there were possibilites to take a seat.

It is a street foods concept of fish and chips next to the Tower Bridge. Valuable to try eating outside with the Tower Bridge view.

We wanted to try the typical Fish & Chips to eat on the street and here we found a very delicious one. 🐟 🍟 In my case, the fish was well done and the potatoes had just been fried. 😑 The service was very fast, but I missed a little kindness from the staff. 💸 The price seemed expensive to me, 13.50 liras without drinks and eating on the street... 🏰 But the place is Ideal! The Castle and the Bridge are spectacular and it is a privilege to eat the typical dish in that environment.

Wenn man in London ist, gehören traditionelle Fish & Chips auf den Speiseplan - mit etwas Essig über die Chips. Das Essen war lecker und auch eine gute Portion, aber mit 13 £ pro Portion total überteuert. Die Imbissbude befindet sich unmittelbar am Eingang vom Tower of London.

SUPER RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Wich is surprising because you have another Fish&chips shop literally 4 meters to the next so i guess they are pretty competitive. We asked kindly from the worker/manager to cut the fish in helf so we could split it and he replied that we have WOODEN "Knife" available for us at the stand next to us and we can cut it ourselves. If the price wasn't almost 14 pounds for a single fish I'd shut up. I asked him why can he cut it for me so we can get a cleen knife cut and split and he replied " I DON'T HAVE A KNIFE WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO!? TO RIP IT APART WITH MY HANDS!?" I didn't replied to that, and went away to try to cut the fish myself wich didn't work out very well and just massed up the fish. I sew that they make their own burgers, fish, chips and desserts, if they can make it all with out a single knife they definitely deserve 5 stars rating on Google, but they don't have it so i don't think that's the case. If we talk food the fish was Ok, the crust was crispy and you could taste that real fish was involved. The chip's on the other hand was just terrible. Soft and soggy and tasted very sweet like suger. Also no lemon or tartare sauce was offered. I normally don't give online reviews but this was a really bad experience. I think i should've told him that straight away, what should i be afraid of? afterall he doesn't own a knife.

Came all the way from 🗽 to eat at this delicious spot, food was absolutely great…..and the staff was very pleasant.

Fish still had skin on it as well as bones. Once you got past those two things, it was okay. Would recommend a sit down restaurant if you want an authentic fish & chips experience in London. Only take-away option. You had to sit on the various benches around the entry to Tower of London. Would not recommend.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich! Der Fisch war leider in Fett getränkt und die Pommes hätten noch ein paar Minuten in der Fritteuse vertragen können. Aber mehr kann man von einem Imbiss an so einer belebten Lage vermutlich nicht erwarten.

Average food, portion size is tiny, overpriced and while the fish looks big it's more batter than fish. Worst of all, the attitude is disgusting. Asked for a few extra chips for the kids, was told it's not their problem if they don't give enough. Never coming here again.

The one guy behind the cash (not sure if he is the owner or manager) was rude and saying that we were mad which we weren't as we were paying for our order. The fish and chips wasn't as great as I expected, spat out a bone in the fish. I should of went to another vendor.

£13.50 is quite a lot for fish and chips but not bad considering the location, right next to the Tower of London. If you’re a tourist then this is a great option. Take your fish and chips a short walk down to the benches overlooking the Thames for a picturesque lunch.

Food store with fish & chips and sone others food like hamburgers or strips. Fish & chips dish is really good, always when I am in London I go here to eat it. The local doesn't have any place to sit, but there are benches and stairs near so it is not a big problem. Typical London prices, like in the other locals in this area.

I had fish and chips alone with mushy peas. Kids had chicken strips. The fish was a whole cod and lightly battered. Was disappointed they didn’t have tartar sauce. They only had mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and vinegar for condiments. Line could get a bit long at times but we waited about 10 minutes.

Fish was ok, could be more seasoned Chips so so. Fillets were tasty.

Very good quality! Huge portion (don't take one per person if you're not really hungry) of fish and chips for 12GBP. Fish is unsalted - salt yourself at the condiment cart. Small public seating area directly across. Recommended!

Bought one fish and chips & one hot dogs yesterday. We paid £18 for it. Poor quality food at high price. When my kid drop an fork, I went in and asked for another fork. The guy with a hat (Asian guy), started questioning us that whether we bought from there or not and why we need another one. Very bad attitude. He was asking £5 for the fork. Very badly behaved. Tourist should avoid this shop. They know most of their customers are one time customers(mostly tourists) and that is why they are offering such bad food and bad service at excessive prices. No wonder why this place had no customer when we went to buy the food. The other fish and chip shop next to it had a long queue.

We ate at the Great British fish and chips after a trip on the London eye. Although the restaurant was busy the service was lightning fast and soon after paying our food was ready and piping hot. The food was nice and just what we needed to fill up at lunch ready for the rest of the day ahead.

El mejor pescado y patatas fritas que tuvimos en Londres. Este fue el cuarto lugar diferente en el que tuvimos pescado y patatas fritas y fue sin duda el mejor de todos. Precio razonable para el tamaño de la porción que recibimos. El sabor fue asombroso. Sin duda, el lugar al que ir para pescado y patatas fritas. Ubicado justo al lado de la Torre de Londres. No es un lugar para sentarse, agarrar y listo. Todavía vale la pena 100%
