Quite overcrowded already by 3.30 pm. We could find a corner at the bar after waiting for 15 minutes. The cocktails were excellent. It was worth to visit.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast. Made a huge mistake and booked the wrong weekend and didn’t realise until we arrived. The wonderful gentleman on the door managed to squeeze us in and totally saved the day. The place was really busy as it was marathon day. The staff were amazing I don’t know how they cope with such a busy service. The food was so yummy. Definitely recommend the cauliflower cheese. There was more cheese than cauliflower the best I’ve ever had. Extra gravy was supplied on request and didn’t have to wait for anything. Tip was optional and not automatically included like most places but I paid gladly as those staff earned every penny. Highly recommend if you like a good roast.

Don’t waste your money. Better places around. Went for a roast after hearing such great things. It was one of the worst roasts I’ve eaten. The “roast” potatoes were more like raw potatoes than roast. The food came out cold and had to be taken back. Went for the beef and it was tasty but quite salty and lots of rosemary seasoning. The dinner was very small for what you got, 4 carrots, 2 “roast” potatoes 3 slices of beef a few broccoli heads and a Yorkshire pudding. The service was good and there were very friendly and I should imagine going there for just drinks would be nice. Just avoid the roast!!

Met a few friends for a Christmas lunch celebration and it did not disappoint. The interior is stunning with lots of different areas and the roast was incredible. Every aspect was well finished, especially the potatoes. Although it isn't the cheapest, it's definitely worth the price. The staff were also lovely and very attentive.

I found myself strangely indifferent to this place, as it’s not great, but not bad. Overall, it’s expensive for what you get. I had the cobb salad with halloumi and it was good, while my friend had the fish and chips which were well, good. Nothing really to complain about there, except the £18 price tag. The Eton Mess (£8.50) wasn’t great … too much cream. Some ice cream instead would have made it a lot better. I’m on a bit of a diet, so having dessert was a treat for me, and I ended up disappointed. The staff, location and ambience were all top notch.

I get bored of telling the staff how good the food and ambience of The Gun is... When they pulled down the 'old' Gun Pub 10 years or so ago and replaced it with the new stylish make over pub, we thought we'd lost a local watering hole. Wrong... Been many many times, and sorry Gun Team for the overly late review, but your Caesar salad with real truffle speckled chips is the real deal. Fabulous and a sensible price (better or cheaper than the chains). Gobbled my meal down in front of my three female clients mopping up the dressing, runny egg and anchovy leavings faster than my cocker spaniel. no apologies given as they watched agog and impressed. Smashing staff, especially your Italian guy. Funny, friendly and consistent. The Gun shows what the city can do when with a mind and a real passion - and gives me faith after the ghastly meals that i've endured a greater cost in the last couple of months. Hope the salad is on the menu as will be back in the next couple of weeks. Well done, you deserve to be recognised for excellent food, atmosphere etc.

The Gun add a 12.5% service charge to your bill, don’t tell you about it, and then give you the option to pay 10% more. I paid a 22.5% tip for 4 drinks orders… I emailed to complain and they offered to pay it back (someone called Joe), but then immediately ignored me without refunding? Incredibly cheeky to take advantage of peoples good will when they pay tips. I would avoid at all costs.

Good service and quite a nice atmosphere, however the food was not great. Olives were the best thing we had, huge and nice flavour. Truffle fries were like the end of the bag (tiny scraps). Hot wings were way too saucy and didn't have much meat on them. Caeser salad was a giant chicken breast with very little salad, and way too much dressing (the lettuce was soaking wet with cream). My colleagues said their choices were nothing more than average. Also the prices were just astronomical for the quality of the food.

6 of us went for Sunday lunch. The food is incredible and portions absolutely huge. Venue is really nice, quirky decorations and great vibe. But the best think is the service. We were looked after by Steph who was wonderful, she had a laugh and a joke with us and went out of her way to look after us. When we needed to vacate the table we were moved to another table at no time were we made to feel we had outstayed our welcome. The manager was really friendly as well and checked in a few times to make sure all was well. We really loved The Gun and can’t wait to return. Thank you to the wonderful team

Very lovely, I was served by a sweet young lady named Lisa, attentive, friendly and very accommodating. Some of the tables are a bit wobbly but Lisa tried to help as much as she could. I will certainly be back on my next trip to London:)

The highlight of our lunch was the impeccable service - I believe the servers names are Georgian and Constantin. They were ABSOLUTELY fantastic, friendly, efficient and caring. It's rare to have great service like this! We really appreciated it. The wine was good, the shrimp salad was decent, the steak sandwich was ok as well but was bread heavy and unfortunately the fries (both the rosemary and the truffle fries) were almost inedible :( We couldn't figure out why?! They were bland and not cooked well. HOWEVER......the incredible service made up for the whole experience which is why we are giving our review 4 stars. If it was based on just service we would give 10 stars and food 3 stars. We will return and try the food again, hoping it will be a little better next time. Great location - right across from the market!
