The Gulshan in Hart

My family have been regulars at the Gulshan since ther 80's, so it was a no brainer that we ordered a takeaway from here when my mum visited last weekend. To be safe, We ordered at 18:15 and the (luke warm) food arrived two hours later, I had a taxi booked for 20:00 so didn't eat, when I returned later in the evening my mum said it wasn't nice. I called and explained and they didn't call back. What a shame this place can't deliver good food, or even care to fix it when they screw up.

Best Indian cuisine in Fleet. Ganesh was great, meal was fantastic, always too much, but you can take it all home if you we a PIG - thank you for another amazing time

This restaurant has recently had new management and a totally new menu including lots of Nepalese dishes, the quality and taste of the food has improved immensely and alongside the new menu with lots of very things to try. I think will really make this into one of Fleet’s finest Indian restaurants, lovely staff And the new management team seem to be keen to elevate this restaurant and the new menu is fantastic.

The food at Gulshan was amazing, the service was incredible (thanks so much to Ganesh for looking after us). We had such a great time and when I am next visiting Fleet, I will definitely be coming back. Thanks so much for a wonderful night!

We ordered via this restaurant in August. After nearly a 4 hour wait for food, food being delivered cold on Deliveroo, finally the restaurant offered the same order again at a time of our choosing. We contacted them this evening (the night of our choosing) and were told they didn’t know what we were talking about. This is extremely disappointing after eating in many times previously. But will not eat here due to the rude service and deceptive ownership.

This used to be THE best Indian restaurant around in the 1970's and 1980's. Sadly their chef may have moved on. It would be so good if they could rediscover those same dishes and recipes. The pilau rice was out of this world and their Muglai Masala with chicken breast stuffed with spicy mincemeat and a creamy nutty sauce was just heaven. Their Dhansak's and Pathia's and Madras' were truly brilliant too.

Been going here for years but just got the most amazing delivery from them. I’m not great with Indian food so always go for the same dish. Have to say that was the best Tandoori chicken I’ve had. Trust me, I’ve had a lot but that completely topped them all. We do goto quite a lot of other places too but that just won hands down !

I genuinely can’t believe nor understand why we haven’t been here yet Nice, modern and spacious decor Service was phenomenal, all evening Friendly, efficient and quick Overall the dishes were flavourful and well made Two slight botches that prevents this place from achieving four stars The Prata was way too oily and not fluffy - was more like a deep fried roti And secondly……this is the one that almost brought it down to a two or even one star I hate coriander with a passion - it ruins every dish that I find it in So I always make it clear that I do not want it in my dishes, especially when it’s added in as fresh So my immediate disappointment was apparent when, after specifying no coriander, the lamb dish I ordered, was littered with the vile green sh!t Saving grace was that they were quick to remedy it and as aforementioned, the food was flavourable

We had pre booked for a Friday evening. It soon became extremely full with a few large groups coming in. However, the quality of food and service was fantastic throughout. Highly recommend. The staff were all friendly polite and extremely helpful. Well done and thank you The Gulshan @ Fleet.

Went to this restaurant for a takeaway this evening for the first time, very good customer service, the food was absolutely beautiful and they went above and beyond to help me out as we were in the process of moving house and they very kindly supplied me plates for my food and they made sure I was happy and satisfied before leaving. Will definitely be returning Thankyou ever so much!

Great food as always Chicken 65 is a standout dish, worth a try. Service is top notch, 10/10 great place, great food, great service.

Had a table booked for 8, seated at about 8:25 as we arrived slightly late. Had to chase up food and finally started eating at 10! Food was good though and would visit again.

Overall, the place was unwelcoming from start to end. The food was not hot or tasty. The service was appalling. All the waiting staff looked like they hated everyone. Maybe they'd had a bad session but I'll certainly not be going back. I've not been to the Gulshan for a while. Went with friends on the Friday before Christmas. We arrived on time for our 20:00 booking. Restaurant was about 2/3 full. Literally pointed towards a table which we settled ourselves into. After a while we asked if we could order some drinks and got told to wait a while. Waiter came over and asked if we wanted poppadoms. With a bit of coaxing, he also took our drinks order. Shortly after, poppadoms turned up but no chutneys and no drinks. Waited some more and chased both drinks and chutneys. Drinks order got taken again and we got told to wait for the chutneys. Some time later drinks arrived and chutneys. Then some more chutneys. Still no food order taken. Asked if we could order some food... got told to wait. Been here about 30-45 mins by now... Eventually got to place food order which arrived with little ceremony a short while later. Food was bland and not particularly warm either. Had to chase drink refresh twice to actually get some more drinks. Had to ask for the bill and were presented with stone cold hand wipes and eventually with the bill. Waiter was keen to do some fairly chunky rounding upon the split bill.

Years since we last ate at The Gulshan. Good to see the menu has finally been updated… Food was good, service wasn’t as good. Our waiter kept rushing us. Rush to order food, rush to take our plates… My vegetable madras was good - full of flavour. The garlic naan was the best thing we ate. Busy for a mid week. Reasonably priced.

Been a few times and always had a fab meal. Love a nice pickle tray. Great sides. very tasty food and will be back soon. Try it

It was “OK”. The waiter serving gave me the impression of not really caring that much and that we were customers to squeeze as much out of us as possible. Quick to take a drink order and to ask if we wanted another, slow to take a food order and when he did tried his best to load it with additional rice, breads etc.. we had to keep an eye on how many we were being ordered for us. Pleasant enough but lacked any charm or warmth. Like I say “OK”… but many more welcoming places locally to go.

We enjoyed a lovely Friday evening meal at The Gulshan as a family of four. We always come here as the food is great and the service is very attentive. Thank you for a fantastic meal

The curry in this place, I'm not being funny, but wowzers in my trousers. It was spicy, it was hot, it was hot and spicy and I ordered mild. But I didn't care. They say chili is a drug and I was fiending for some dips. I am a new man, I sweated a bucket, and I found god. Hare ram

Invited by friends for a curry evening, but left very disappointed. Having toured South East Asia many times and visited India, Nepal, Sri Lanka as well, I am not turned on by food adapted to feed the British palate: all sauce where more or less the same and the only difference was the amount of chilly or the lack of. On the other hand the service was excellent and that is the only redeeming feature.

Popped in here one freezing evening as we were passing and had been let down elsewhere. The Saag Paneer was the highlight of my day, nay the week. Aromatic and delicious. Poppadoms and Naan were great, and the drinks were tasty. Try the Lassi. Excellent service and smiles

Best indian food in Fleet. This restaurant has been recommended by one of my friend and ever since I cant think of another. Great tasting curry.

Ordered the chefs special lamb chop curry and unfortunately I suspect the meat was bad as I spent most of the early hours of the morning being violently sick from both ends! It’s a shame as the rest of what we had was nice.

We called and asked if they could do the chicken tikka masala nut free for my boyfriend who has a severe allergy and they were so accommodating. We’ve finally found a curry house he can eat from. Thank you so much

I live in fleet and think this is the best Indian restaurant around Foods amazing and the staff are perfect! They’re polite ,courteous and humble Everything I have had here has been different and extremely tasty Well recommend these guy’s!!!!! TRY THEM OUT!!

After 12 years we moved back to the area and were so excited to order our favourite Gulshan. It was so bad! Arrived late. Chicken Bhuna chicken was chewy, loads of dried coriander, very watery and no spice at all. Awful. Garlic Naan, tiny, hardly...

Ate here on the last night before lockdown so it was quite busy. Food was delicious and well presented. Speed of service was just right and also very friendly.

Ordered and collected a take away on Friday night for family. Really high quality , loads of food and with discount for collecting reasonable price. All contactless and distance collection. I will support this restaurant again

Thieving, robbing gits. Charged £9.75 for a glass of wine, only option on menu is £4.95. Never again. Off to Zaal, down the road.

Visited here with my husband for a birthday meal. We moved to the area a few months ago and have been seeking out our favourite local Indian. I am always a little dubious about ordering lamb in restaurants that I haven’t eaten in before and therefore unsure of the quality, as it can be done really badly. I asked the waiter if it was slow cooked and he said yes, so went against my better judgement and ordered a lamb curry. On arrival it was gristley, chewy and fatty and I didn’t enjoy it at all. The tarkha dhal was flavourless and the paneer tasted a little soapy. Won’t return in a hurry as much nicer Indian restaurants a Stone’s throw from here.

We had an Excellent curry at the Gulshan on Christmas Eve. It wasn’t particularly busy, which was nice & it meant service was very good.There have been some changes to the Gulshan since our last visit. It has expanded & they’ve moved the front door!We started with popadoms & pickles, I ordered a vegetable dhansak for my main with pilau rice & a garlic naan. Very spicy & plenty of flavour .Lovely meal. Standards still remain high & everyone was very friendly.Excellent curry. Highly recommended

What a complete let down!! We always have used the Gulshan whether it be for takeaway or eat in, we have always received great service and fantastic tasting food each time! This time i feel completely let down and received rude and abrupt service this evening! So not only having to wait almost 45mins than the original 45min standard wait, after they had written our address down wrong and several phone calls to and from the restaurant and delivery driver, our food was finally delivered to find that one of our dishes was wrong, rang to be told that it was what ordered, clearly miss-understanding and have given what they thought they heard, no read back on what was ordered so no way we could correct the error, no apology for the mix up or the food being 45mins late!! Unfortunately the gulshan is now loosing a loyal customer! What a shame... could of been an easy fix but hey ho!

Lovely place and attentive staff, but the food was not very well spiced and tasty, and the overuse of onions in the main course spoiled it for me

Decor was tatty and a bit bleak especially the wall near where we sat which looked like the kind of hoarding that you get on a building site. No pictures or soft lighting just bright lights and fluorescent green seating.Food looked ok but as a vegetarian I was really disappointed to see absolutely nothing on the menu that was specifically for veggies or vegans I had to have a vegetable side dish as a main dish and it wasn't very hot and didn't taste that nice Waiters were friendly and service prompt but don't think I'm going to rush back here anytime soon.

Thought we would try out the new look, at The Gulshan, what a mistake! There were not enough staff working so they were very flustered resulting in very erratic service and were abrupt to the point of rudeness. No finesse, eye contact or smiles. The food wasn’t great either, mint sauce had no taste, popadoms were not crisp, starters just plonked on plates any old how, mains were bland, served up on cheap looking plates. Drinks were not cold.When the table cloth was removed at the end of the meal the waiter tipped the bits of food on the table all over me and just walked off, I was so shocked.The general ambiance was like sitting in a work canteen as lights bright and no music. The toilets were dusty and doors were difficult to close and lock. Will not be returning. Total overhaul needed with regards to staff training front and back of house. High prices for an extremely poor evening. Would suggest going over the road to Zaal for a much better experience as we should have done this evening.

Fairly quiet evening, service was very quick, hardly put cutlery down before plates whisked away. Food was average, nothing spectacular , good size portions. poor parking area at rear lets it down as its a dump, worried about car safety. 2 courses and one drink each at £53 seemed a bit expensive but not so much as to complain about it.

Visited Sunday with my hubby as we haven’t been for a while.

Never in my life have I not eaten a nan bread but I couldn’t stomach this one. All the food had been microwaved. The cream had curdled on top. I hate wasting food but half of ours was thrown away. Very disappointed.

Negative comments on here about the Korma. Suggest a non coconut dish if the reviewers don’t like coconut.

I ordered a takeaway and it was CRAP. One thing I ordered was the chicken korma, it was pale yellow and tasted of pure coconut. The rice was red and green,ITS NOT CHRISTMAS!! All the curries we ordered tasted the same but were just different colours. The ONLY positive was that the Onion Bhajis were as big as my head but this could also make people fat. I then tried to complain but the man was extremely rude and wouldn’t listen, HE BLOODY HUNG UP ON ME. (My friend then threw up just after we’d finished) I will definitely not be returning and I would definitely not recommend this curry place to anyone.

I ordered a takeaway and it was frankly crap. The curry was just watery coconut and I would not recommend this curry house because the curry was disgusting. Also the rice was red and green. I am not happy with this order and will not be returning.

A Monday night. 5 tables in use. Very pleasant meal. Attentive service without interrupting. Curries, breads, poppadoms, chutneys, kingfisher beer on tap, Okra all excellent, mutter paneer the only let down. Thank you.

Visited Saturday Evening, service was appalling, Table delayed by 1 hour, poppadoms served without chutneys, drinks took an age to arrive and were wrong, meals took a further hour to arrive and the food wasn't great. this was my second visit with a similar experience, Spoke to the manager and told that they were busy. Wont be Back

It took 2.5 hours and 3 phone calls for our takeaway to come 3/4 mile down the road. It was stone cold on arrival. Appalling service.

We ordered a takeaway which did turn up on time but was totally inedible. The food was cold with an overpowering taste of a spice and salt... everything tasted the same. The lentil dish looked like something the cat had previously presented. Don't advertise vegetarian if you cannot cook it. Gulshan is in need of a new chef.... or even A chef. Threw the whole lot in the bin. Will not be returning.

We had a really lovely meal at The Gulshan last night.

Great to see that Gulshan now has a 5 rating for food hygiene. It's so reassuring to see that their reliably good food now comes with a top hygiene rating from the food inspector too.

Back again as we love this place.

Although a nice atmosphere and attentive service, we received a flat diet coke to which we complained to receive the same drink just with ice in it seemed. Then we ordered the meal deal, which was enjoyable except I found a piece of chicken in my vegetarian dish! End up not eating the rest of it after this.

Reading the last review on here about people having different standards well we have very high standards and we had a lovely meal tonight.

The lamb curry felt as though it was made out of those jar sauces in the supermarket and the meat was chewy and tasteless. Apart from the nun bread, all was pretty poor. I know this Indian was an ‘English Indian’ so I managed my expectation but even then this was pretty poor by even English Indian standard. The acoustics in the restaurant was so bad the my wife and I pretty much couldn’t talk to each other. It was a relief to get out. Surprised by the good reviews but I guess we all have different standards and expectations. If this is the general standard of Fleet Indian ( we have recently move into Fleet from London), then we might as well stay home and get M&S;’s Indian range which might be better. The meal here took me back to the Indian food of the 1970s.

Tasty food and good sized portions. The service was OK, considering it was quite I would have expected slightly better service.

Friend took us here for the second time and again the food and service where very good. Loved the korai chicken tikka not hot but lovely flavoured. The nan was real fresh. A great place to go for indian food!

We visited this restaurant last weekend we ordered chicken tikka mass and gulshan special and have some side dish but unfortunately all side dish was not good.

We ordered a takeaway at a cost of £50. The food arrived cold and everything had an overpowering taste of Cinnamon.The samosas were chewy and inedible. We threw most of it in the bin.

Been coming here for ages and usually enjoy it. I think the service is good and it’s always clean and well organised.

I do like a curry I do. Sadly this place isn't the best curry house in Fleet. That is not to say that this a bad place to eat because it really isn't it's fine, it's like always the second choice if you go for a curry in Fleet. If you live in the area give it a try as you might like it.

My wife and I enjoy eating out and try several restaurants regularly in and around the Fleet area.We are lucky as Fleet has many lovely eateries, all reasonably priced.

I had forgotten how good the food is at the Gulshan having not eaten there for a few years. Ended up eating there twice in one month and the food was superb both times! The staff are very accomodating' warm and friendly and I cannot find anything to fault my experience there. I dined with girlfriends the first time, then husband the second and the service, meal, drinks and bill were all very reasonable. Will def go there again.

The Gulshan is great restaurant that have consistently provided tasty food. My wife loves their Chicken Tikka Masala. I like the Gulshan special.

Great food, but shocking service, waited 30 minuted for to food and again 30 min for the bill to arrive. If it wasn’t for the disappointing service we would’ve stayed longer-rubbish!

We visited the Gulshan tonight for the first time since moving to Fleet and we were really impressed with the quality of the food. As a vegetarian, I had plenty of options to choose from and was very pleased with my choice of a saag paneer with rice. Meanwhile my husband really enjoyed his chicken dish, the Gulshan Special, which he had with a garlic naan and spicy potatoes. The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was relaxing. We would happily return here - hopefully very soon!

Fleets oldest and best Indian restaurant. Owners always present and food quality always good. If you are new to area it is the place to go

I have had a few King Prawns Tandoori at the Gulshan, in Fleet but I decided to try the King Prawns Shashlik Tandoori this time ..... Wow yummy & scrummy! Had the usual Poppadums with Kingfisher beer and Mo had the usual Vodka and lemonade followed by Garlic Chillies Chicken and my goodness! After 20 plus years, the taste remains as good,, if not better!

Visited restuarant with friends for evening meal.. Staff not very attentitive whilst in other restuarants they are usually always asking if everything good and offering more drinks.Food was of good quality and substantial portions compared to other Indian rstuarants in Fleet. would not rush back.

Enjoyed a great evening with a large group of friends for evening meal with 'Elvis' entertaining us. It was brilliant. The food was excellent and incredible value for money. A really great night out.

we hadn't been for a meal at the Gulshan for a few years but wish we hadn't bothered. the meal was average at best. one dish had very little sauce, vegetable dish stringy. The worst thing about the evening was the staff they were unfriendly and did not seem to want to serve. Will not return will go to zaal or Ask as found them much more welcoming.

Had the most unexciting curry here. As a local we have been to Gulshan on many occasions but yesterday all the curries seemed to have the same sauce - heavy on tomato and sugar (yes sugar) - with just peppers or onions added. True they took back the chicken madras and returned with the same sauce and heavily added chilli powder. They need a new chef!!!

Picked up a lovely takeaway from the Gulshan. I used the online menu/payment which saved hanging around on the phone for the busy line to become available. Free drink whilst I waited to collect as they were very busy. A good sign and great service.

We have been eating here for a number of years now. Amongst the other Indian restaurants in Fleet, The Gulshan is one of the most stable (in terms of ownership) and therefore loyalty and custom are greatly appreciated by the staff. The food is consistently good and reliably authentic every time. This makes for a great eating experience every time if, for example a Madras is what you like. Friendly staff and prompt service make this a good place for an Indian meal in Fleet..

A bit of a throw back, not quite to the days of flock wall paper and lager, but definitely very traditional. Food was good. Service excellent. Atmosphere very good.

Takeaway food here is at the upper end of average. The Gulshan Special is in fact a bit special, spicy and delicious. The other bits we had were fine but much less memorable.

One dish tasted like it was fresh out of a jar....the jalfrezi (my bench mark for a new restaurant) possibly the worst I have had. Nan bread like a cheap pizza base. Only the value for money poppadoms and pickle tray saved The Gulshan from one star

I called to ask how long an order would take and was told that it'd be an hour - after deliberations was told ok, 45 mins max. It turned up (after chasing) in an hour 5 mins. I was lied to to get an order and the food was oily/undercooked. The delivery chap didn't care either. There's enough choice in Fleet, steer clear.

Been going here for years and our latest visit was as good as ever. They went out of their way to ensure my 8 year old was happy and the food was great. Thanks!!!

Ate her on a friday night so you expect things to be hectic and have a wait on your food but nothing like what we experienced. We ended up being there for over 4 hours and only managing to have one drink. Also this was after having to be rushed to order. The food was good and made to a high quality however the main let down purely was the service. There purely wasn't enough staff to handle the demand.

Large group evening meal - delicious food at very affordable prices. Would highly recommend to anybody who enjoys good Indian food.

Came here again but this time with my hubby , my sister and my mum.They have never been before so we took them. It was a Thursday and it was packed.Took a while to get our second drinks but they wasn't to blame as it was so busy. They said sorry but it really wasn't a problem.We all had the meal deal which we didn't manage to finish .Shame because it was so good.Maybe we won't order so much as a shame to waste it.All the food was full of flavour and nice and hot.the staff are amazing and the restaurant is always nice and clean and welcoming.The meal deal is a starter, main, side and a rice or nann bread.And was £15.95Yummy Love this place

Food very good but service need to be improved. Waiting to long for everything. Bunch of guys screaming all the time on the other table so dinner end up with headache. Staff didn't bother much with that fact.

Attentive staff, nice atmosphere and good tasty food. In fact one of the best Biriani's I've had locally (the Akbari Biriani). The bill for our night was a quite a bit less than we would have paid for an equivalent meal in some of Fleet's other Indian restauraunts. I can't belive that I first ate in the Gulshan in around 1986! I remember it was good then too.

we have just ordered online and had food delivered by what we thought was gulshan in fleet. the food arrived cold, bland and overly colourful. after complaining we found out that we clicked on the wrong link above gulshan fleet. i suspect some of the duff reviews are due to the this.gulshan fleet is great food, probably the best curry in fleet.

Dropped in here when I was in Fleet on business.It was mid week and the place was very busy which was a good sign.The staff were really efficient and helpful in us making our choice. The food was really nice, nothing fantastic but nice. Itam guessing this is a really dependable place for a curry and will certainly return when I return to Fleet and am in need of a curry!
