The Sunday roast was nice, I could have made a more flavourful roast at home, but I do prefer my food well seasoned. My lamb was quite fatty, which is not my preference but it was very soft and tender. The roast potatoes did not taste fresh at all. They tasted like they had been cooked earlier and just kept warm. Very disappointing. Roast potatoes should always be fresh and crispy. The brownie dessert comes with cream but they were very accommodating and substituted ice-cream at no extra cost. The only thing I can pick at is the temperature, it would have been nicer if it was warmer - otherwise a very delicious desert. I enjoyed two margaritas, which were DELICIOUS - whoever made them.. Well done!

Sunday lunch - Tasty but lacking gravy. Delicious dessert not too sweet and well balanced. Good efficient yet patient service and food came quickly. Sat near the bar without much of a view

The drinks arrived before we’d finished ordering. We still don’t know how they did that! The service was simply stunning. The food was brilliant and the atmosphere was everything we wanted as friends out for a catch-up after some fifteen years! Alex deserves a mention. He was great. Read the table and impressed me so much that I fully intended to write this review. But as I was leaving I wanted to do more. I wanted to talk to the manager to make sure Alex got the praise. Turns out Alex is the manager. Lead by example. We can’t wait to come back.

Some patrons are well known, some not. Some visitors are well liked, others not. Either way, a delicious pint awaits thirsty guests, foamy and eager to be guzzled down

The Guildford Arms is a lovely corner pub. The upstairs is nicer than the basement, it had a different vibe. I was disappointed with our awkward table for two being on its own at the top of the stairs. My roast beef wasn’t great, it had a lot of very chewy sinew running through ever slice and the horseradish cream, was just cream - very unpleasant. The vegetables very very tasty, it’s a shame there was no cauliflower cheese. My husband loved his lamb and he ate nearly all his veg, luckily I got his cabbage. Our chocolate nemesis were delicious, I hate cream so being able to have ice cream was a big plus. Our pints of IPA were very good and the service was attentive and charming.

Every so often I try to pop in for a Sunday roast. If you are able to be served then you will find that the food is very good. This is the problem. The service/management is poor. Often even when there’s space either they’ve run out of Sunday roast or they will be apparently out of space (yet you can see the empty tables, and see on the screen when the tables will be filled). If you do get served then once you’ve finished the main you’ll usually struggle to get any service to order dessert or to pay, which is immensely frustrating. My advice is to book and if you’re booking last minute also call to check they’ve ordered enough for unplanned/walk ins. Also, expect that the service will be comically poor and it might grate a little less. Fortuitously there are various other pubs nearby that do good roasts so not all is lost if they’re unable to fit you in! I’ve now stopped trying to go here.

Local pub with a garden, which is great for an afternoon in the summer. They carried out renovation last year and we haven't been since so this is based on past experience from before then. They offer dining and one thing they do is Sunday roast, which comes with Yorkshire pudding. Other food options are lamb, mezze, etc.

Cozy gastro pub, we found the food very good and innovative.

Attended for birthday lunch with family. Waitress who served us was rude and seemed to have bad/grumpy attitude which was pretty disappointing. Everyone else was lovely. I probably would take my family elsewhere next time sadly.

Great option for food in Greenwich, gastro-pub doesn't quite do it justice, the food is excellent. The place was recently refurbished and there is a really nice garden at the back too for sunny days. It's a 5 minute walk from the station, definitely worth the detour.

Food was ok but I found it a bit pricey. Service was a bit slow. Its a nice cosy pub (if they sit you at the back)

I received the most amazing and friendliest service in my two weeks in Scotland from Ian during my lunch visit at the Guildford arms. Of course the atmosphere is a 20 out of 10 and absolutely breathtaking but also the food was absolutely delicious. I can’t tell if I enjoyed the fish and chips or the haggis more. This was my favorite dining experience of my trip. Thank you.

Went for Sunday lunch. All the roasts were excellent. Would definitely recommend . The staff were friendly and service good. We will certainly go back when in the area.

This was our first visit to the The Guildford Arms, on the occasion of my Mum's 90th birthday, and we were certainly not disappointed. Great pub, great decor, great food, great beers, great service. Everything was, really, just right and there is even a lift which helped my Mum get down to the loo. Now that is impressive! A really great afternoon, we will certainly look forward to visiting TGA again and would thoroughly recommend.

Delicious food in a lovely setting. Staff were excellent. Alex the new bar manager was particularly good at ensuring all customers were well looked after.

A lovely old pub which has been given a contemporary makeover. Short lunch menu with some classics such as the delicious honey glazed ham with perfectly fried eggs and crisp skin on chips. Home made spanakopita triangles were served with a vibrant Greek salad. Great puddings included a plum and apple crumble with a crème anglaise, an individual raspberry pavlova and an indulgent warm chocolate brownie with salted caramel and cream. Service is charming and included a lovely gesture of being able to taste the IPA’s before choosing. Attractive enclosed gardens at the back with patio heaters add to the charm. Definitely worth the walk away from the crowds to visit this wee gem.

Really lovely experience. We both had roasts, everything was cooked beautifully, with fresh quality produce and a short but excellently priced wine list. The cheese platter was utterly fabulous and huge! The staff were lovely, and really good with our dog. This will become a regular haunt for us

Went here for Sunday lunch after reading reviews on trip advisor. Definitely worth the walk from the dlr. Chicken dinner with lovely crusty crumb, roast potatoes and fresh juicy carrots. Didn’t have room for desert!

Lovely TARDIS of a pub, opens up downstairs into a large conservatory and really pleasant outdoor space. The food and drink I had was of high quality and fair price and the staff were very welcoming

We love the Guilldord Arms. The food is delicious, staff knowledgeable and outdoor space glorious on a summer day. Always fresh and interesting dishes. I've eaten here lots. Halibut dish was stand out. Burger also very tasty and much better than other similar pubs in the area/ blackheath. Excellent rosemary chips!! Puds also delicious..chocolate brownie and polenta cake too .More of a gastro pub than normal pub. One I treat myself to rather than bringing the kids. Great for friends, couples etc. Love it!

The team here were very accommodating with the fluctuating numbers of our large early supper booking. The food was lovely as always, a special shout-out to the homemade kimchi on various dishes. The staff were very attentive and the Winter Garden setting downstairs, with the retractable roof fully open, was perfect in the late afternoon sunshine. Thank you. This is a fantastic addition to the neighbourhood.

Waited on by youngsters who didn’t know about gluten free suggestions would be an adult who is trained in allergies? Paid well over £100 need more options and training used to be very good hardly anyone in the restaurant.

Great place - fab beer garden for summer days

Top class pub that we are lucky to be super close to, it's had a lovely facelift so is super nice and modern with a fantastic outdoor area. Sunday roasts were on point, kids chicken was particularly impressive. (minor gripe gravy could be thicker) staff all very young, polite and attentive. dogs and children friendly. On street Parking is expensive though so bare thta in mind.

We love coming here, the food’s always good, nice wines and beers. Beautiful gardens. Would definitely recommend.

A great Greenwich pub on a quiet street. Lovely garden ( maybe best of all such in wider Greenwich/ Blackheath). The halibut fish was splendidly made. Tables, decor, ambiance- all stylish. And clean. Garden and food are the things to make me visit again.

We came early evening on a Monday. It was fairly empty. The waitress was probably new because she kept having to ask the manager a lot of questions we had, and forgot the cutlery etc. Most of the summer cocktails were not available. However, the cocktail we did manage to get in the end was delicious and the food was also high quality. We will come back and I’m sure the service will be better once staff have time to be trained a bit more :-)

Mediocre, overpriced food and slow service...

One waiter was excellent, another one was stroppy and rude. Food was good, they forgot to bring us the starter though with no apology offered. The ambience inside and in the garden is always superb!

Professional distancing,yet a very pleasant experience..very good staff and lovely food..3 of us had the meat feast..what a feast! Felt like a little bit of luxury..coming back soon..thankyou all at the Guildford Arms.

Posto carino con una buona scelta nel menu, purtoppo come accade da parecchio in uk ..spezie cioe cioe cibo piccante ovunque .anche con l aggiunta di herbs..cmq molto forti in alcuni casi..e per che come me , non puo mangiare ne piccante ne parecchie di qs erbe aromatiche è davvero un problema..ho dovuto lasciare sul tavolo una zuppa perche piena di cumino e pepe..avevo chiesto , quando ho ordinato, che mn volevo ne spezie ne erbe..il secondo ottimo ma una porzione minima..5 gamberetti e un misero pezzo di pesce..ovviamente nn ho potuto mangiare il dolce perche intollerante al lattosio..sono uscita con la fame

My first experience with English bar was great

Fantastic food and excellent service. We had a selection of small plates / sides and every one was delicious and generously portioned. Good wine list too. Overall, great value.

Absolutely delicious food, this pasta was actually a starter but was far bigger than I thought it would be. I tried all of the dishes on my table and they were great, however the chilli broccoli you can see in the photo was the only miss for me, I found it a bit too oily and not great flavour. The menu had a note of exactly which suppliers were used for different ingredients and they were all local which I thought was excellent. The staff were also super friendly and attentive

They do a good job here. Took a while to get the order in but the menu looks great. I had the burger to be really generic but it tasted brilliant. Starter was very disappointing though if beetroot and flatbread. Needs work that fish because the ingredients are fine. Cocktails were very well made. Clean place but more gastro pub than pub pub.

I booked a table for 14 people at The Guildford Arms for my partners mothers 50th birthday. The team were very helpful with all our requests over email. The food was amazing, as was the service. Everything came so quickly even though it was a Saturday evening, and we wasn’t rushed out at all. The team really went above and beyond with us and we will definitely be back soon!

Really spot on Sunday lunch. Great food, good service, fantastic atmosphere. Portion sizes were good (some may say small, but it was nice to come out after a Sunday Roast and not feel like I've eaten way too much!) My only small criticism is that they only served soft drinks like Coke and Diet Coke in cans. (This is me being really fussy and picky!)

Looks good inside but had the roast here and was not impressed. One person from our group had to wait ages for their dish, one chicken dish was undercooked and had to be redone, the children’s meals (£9.50) came without veg and this had to be requested. Can’t recommend and wouldn’t go back.

Lovely gastropub with a small, but perfect menu. We had 3 courses and each one was delicious, beautifully presented and generous portions. And friendly staff. Definitely going back.

This is a good space, especially in the summer as the garden is lovely, but dinner last night was really underwhelming. Chicken burger was not nice, burger and chicken breast were ok, brisket was good, The staff were pleasant but a bit clueless. Definitely not going to eat here again. Except for chips which were great.

Beautiful roast with lovely service

We were a large party which the friendly staff coped with very well. The food that we ate was well presented and tasty. Losing a star as there was only one veggie option due to items on the menu not actually being available.

Best Sunday roast in Greenwich.

Popped in for a tipple and bowl of chips with two dogs and my Ma earlier today and so pleased to have finally visited. I called ahead and they said politely they were unable to accept guests without a booking due to supplies, I asked if we could sit in the garden and perhaps have a bowl of chips. We were greeted warmly, offered all menus and the entire team were helpful, bubbly and welcoming. Can’t wait to visit again soon, highly recommended. Thank you for being a bright start to 2023!!

The staff made it very clear that us having 3 yr old and a 6 month old was not suitable in this pub. They insisted on pushing the table so far against the wall that the baby in the highchair could grab the Christmas decs, then refusing to allow us to move the table over slightly- despite it not being in anyone’s way. One staff member really rudely told us to move out of the restaurant when they could see we were trying to get the baby in the pushchair to go into the pouring rain. When our three yr old spilt some water, a member of staff threw a bit of blue paper across the table at him. The whole meal felt hurried along, and we were then told that we had 20 mins left to leave the table. The fact it was my birthday and our Christmas get together with friends, so supposed to be a special meal was totally ruined. We used to come a lot- before children - totally different experience with children. Wish I’d said something when we were there, but the staff didn’t bother to do any food check-backs or even ask whether we’d had a nice time.

If the baby was screaming and toddler having a meltdown I’d sort of understand, but the fact that everyone was happy, on good form, eating, making no noise. It was the most impressive roast dinner I’ve eaten out. Crispy roast potatoes large portion and a vegan option which wasn’t an after thought but as good as the main menu. Friends had the meat options and equally happy. Cleared plates. I was working locally which is how we ended up there. But we’ve booked a Sunday lunch and will drive the 45 minutes to go back it was that good. - I’ve honestly tried a lot of vegan roast dinners but this one was like the real thing 👍

Great pub with a good selection of drinks

Firstly to note- this is a restaurant that’s inside a pub. It’s not a pub in the traditional sense, you can have a drink but it’s all table service etc. That out the way, it’s a smart modern eatery with great food and a nice garden area at the back.

Quiet location, charming little pub and restaurant. The staff are accommodating and quick thinking, professional and friendly. Highly recommend.

Has one of the coolest outdoor seating areas ever! Friendly staff, good selection of beers. Saw food being prepped in the kitchen and coming out. It looked superb.

I had a lovely Sunday lunch here with friends. Staff very friendly. A good plate of food. There wasn't much of an atmosphere though. I wonder how they decide who sits where because we had a less than great table despite the restaurant being quiet.

Lovely friendly pub with nice food. I didn't feel that there was a lot that really caught my eye on the menu, but what they did have was really nice. The garden is stunning..really spacious and perfect for a summer evening.

Birthday dinner with friends. Toyed with sitting outside but instead opted for inside table with the sliding windows being open to the view of the garden. Great to see the restaurant has retained key staff, but with a few younger faces, obviously being trained - and trained well. Because we eat here every couple of months it was good to see some new dishes on the menu. The mezze boards are standard but we've had them too often. New starter of a pea & potato popadom was brilliant and I think the main dish of king prawn with thai fish cake is a recent addition. Also excellent was the superb slaw side dish. Hubby enjoyed the chicken but felt the jerk seasoning could be a bit spicier. A generous portion of eton mess went down well, though it is a hard choice between that and the panna cotta. Keep up the good work Guy, but please can you consider reopening the first floor restaurant of Handmade foods in Blackheath. The cafe is great but the first floor was brilliant.

Having lived about 100m from the restaurant "Inside" near Greenwich Station, we had been regulars there, and we thought Guy Awford was a brilliant chef. We never had a disappointing meal there. Circumstances arose that prevented us going to the Guildford when he decided to...

We went for a midweek supper. The lamb, cuttlefish and prawns were perfectly cooked. The accompaniments were imaginative and tasty. The children’s hamburgers were generous in size (should have gotten two children’s menus). The pulled bbq chicken burger was missing something to make it pop. Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Excellent restaurant!

It's been my local for years, and since the sleek revamp it is better than ever. The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, the food is almost always excellent and the menu is inventive and ever-changing. I come here often, the atmosphere is peaceful and chilled and I always have a memorable time here. It's a good place for a date, as the staff know when to give you private time and when to be attentive to your needs for another drink or food order. The only improvement I would make is in the portion sizes - they have recently shrunk.

The food, service and atmosphere were all exactly the sort of special you want when you go for a good night out with friends. There were no long waits, everything was relaxed and the food was impeccable with well balanced flavours and satisfying proportions. Definitely the sort of place that you would keep coming back to.

Came here for a lunch with friends and got a big table in the garden. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Had the half chicken and shared with my partner and toddler. The chicken was very juicy and tasty! Will definitely come back!

Lovely experience in this pub. We went for a pint on Sunday evening with our puppy and the staff were amazing. Dog bowl and treats were provided. They're also very friendly and service was excellent. They have outdoor seating that we didn't expect downstairs with great ambience. Turns out the pub is bigger than expected. Definitely would come back and try their food next time.

Nice pub to escape the touristy pubs in town

I was excited by the reviews so booked in for Sunday roast as had some family members visiting from out of town and wanted to impress. I was very disappointed and a bit embarrassed in front of my family at the quality of the food vs the price point. Portion sizes small, and I don't have a big appetite (I think there were 3 roast potatoes). Food was lukewarm, roast potatoes themselves were powdery, everything was swimming in gravy. My family I think summed it up with their review: "it was fine". "Fine" is disappointing when it's nearly £20 a plate However, the place is nicely decorated, so I do look forward to going back in the summer to use the garden, but this time I'll be sticking to drinks and will give the food a miss. Update: went back recently, chilling in the pub garden is very pleasant, however I stick with the food review, burgers were £15ish and were mediocre (honest burgers is £10 and miles better, even the restaurant in One Canada Square, whose rent must be extortionate charges less for the burger), the real let down was the sea food platter/sharing board which was very bare bones.

Stumbled across whilst walking between destinations. Friendly staff and great garden for a sunny beer!

A rare treat. Food wonderful, Boho beer delicious, service good. Visiting Greenwich from Belfast and we certainly landed on our feet finding this place.

I returned to the Guildford for the first time since the fabulous refurbishment. It is stunning. The immediate welcome was warm and accommodating but the service needs improvement. Plates and glasses should be taken away after eating!!
