The food was not exceptional but the pub in itself is really amazing, worth a visit to try a local Ale.

Great pub's food and beer. Lovely and refreshed interior with significant hight and decorative elements. One of the best looking pub I have been to so far. I was lucky to find a table, as speaking with regulars this place usually is absolutely packed during the weekend.

Genuine and properly traditional British pub.

Fish & chips had a weird taste. I didn't eat it. But the brocoli mushroom soup was really good!

We had dinner here, which we enjoyed. Quite pricey but that’s a capital city for you. And it’s a gorgeous old pub, so we were happy. My score went down when we returned for lunch. I’ve never received a smaller bowl of soup! Felt quite cross.

Traditional pub with quite wide beer choice, and wegetarian and vegan options in the menu (including vegetarian haggis ;)).

Food is great and the atmosphere is fantastic. During busy periods I would definitely recommend making reservations to dine. Otherwise, just enjoy socializing and a pint or more!

Fish and chips was good, peas were super hard though. Waiter at the bar downstairs was super rude. The ambiance is great, decoration nice.

Emil at the bar was beyond rude. He had me move 2 yards to the left to take my order. Yes, seriously. And when someone spilled something on our table, he was even worse and just made a ball of kitchen paper towels and gave us that to clean it ourselves. The waiter at the top where we first ate was excellent and very nice. It’s just the tall blond at the bottom who doesn’t like foreigners apparently. Hi somewhere else and be treated well.

Walked a couple of miles just to eat here again. Outstanding food, beer and atmosphere. The service is second to none

A really old pub where there is something new to see wherever you rest your eyes. So nice. Recommend weekdays, just because it's packed on the weekends

Caché de Princes Street et accès rendu très difficile par des travaux de rue mais magnifique et typique. Plafond et décor sublime. Repas pris en bas au pub pas au haut restaurant . Wings et chips sympa bien servis. Bières excellentes, il y avait un festival de bière. Personnel efficace et sympathique. Beaucoup d'habitués locaux. Bonne ambiance et bon service pour un prix correct.

I've been in Edinburgh for 4 days and already been there twice. Very typical pub but yet kind to tourist. Beautiful decoration. The staff explain to you the mechanics for order and they are very kind with foreigners. Soup of the day was delicious and the fish&chips was very good. Beers are excellent and they can recommend you (they have a lot) and even taste before choose one. I will be back.

Great family owned pub! Great beer selection, as expected. I don't understand why bars stock up on all that liquor, yet don't add the ability to make mixed drinks...guess it's a pub thing. Food wasn't being served in the bar (downstairs) but we were lucky to get a table upstairs. Service was spot on, food delightful. I started with a mixed fish chowder, really nice with very little potato. My first experience with haggis and I was pleasantly surprised! It was peppery and a bit spicy! My wife had a blue cheeseburger which unfortunately was overcooked and tasted oddly like it was mixed with lamb!? Chips (fries) were crispy. Definitely the least expensive meal of our Edinburgh visit.

For those travelers looking for an authentic Scottish Pub, visit The Guildford Arms! The bar is lively with many excellent ales, lagers, and stouts. The food is excellent as well. I had the fish and chips and it did not disappoint. It is a very lively and enthusiastic crowd. would recommend this pub to my friends and family.

I visited yesterday with a friend. We ordered food and drinks at the bar. Food service was very slow, despite the pub being very quiet. Only 2 staff members who were apologising to everyone for the delay in food. I ordered chicken tacos. They were literally inedible. The chicken pieces were cold, hard and obviously not fresh, I don't think they were safe to eat. I think it's such shame that such a beautiful pub can't serve simple fresh food. I definitely won't be back

Gran pub viejo para una pinta durante el día, también volvimos por la noche y conseguimos una mesa en el entresuelo que es un gran pequeño comedor, comida gran pub grub cocinado bien, todos los platos estaban vacíos a la vuelta! No parece que tome reservas en línea o reservas del mismo día para la noche, piense que solo tiene que visitar y tener suerte.

Fantastic pub! Amazing architecture with beautiful intricate ceiling mouldings. We went on a match day so very full of rugby fans but a great atmosphere and so friendly. 10 real Ale handpumps, most of which were local and the two we had were great and in great condition.

Friendly and hospitable staff, they let us taste several beers before choosing one, plentiful and delicious food.

We returned to the Guildford for another visit and were pleased to see that improvements had been made after our previous visit. Bar and restaurant staff were very pleasant and eager to serve us. The food was excellent and nice and hot. Prices were fairly good. We enjoyed our afternoon. The Guildford is now back on our go to list. Well done.

Lovely Victorian pub. Great atmosphere, super busy - staff so nice and great beer selection. Natalia served us and she was so bubbly. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice place to get drinks.

Great pub with excellent beer, but currently half closed. Couldn't get seat, and shouted out by grumpy man when I dared sit at a table reserved for food, which wasn't signed. Disappointing return to an old local pub. Avoid until they re-open.

The Last stop on our tour of over 17 pubs around Edinburgh. Here we sampled an Alchemy Stratos IPA and an Orkney Dark Island. Another Victorian pub with incredible woodwork on the inside and a warming atmosphere, perfect for an after work pint.

Beautiful pub in great location but the food was pretty average I must say! Chicken / haggis dish was very dry which was disappointing for the price paid.

We did not eat here just popped in for a drink, not a welcoming atmosphere from the staff , it was the only place we visited during our recent stay that is was very clear we were not welcome, my advice give it a wide berth if you are not local

A lovely atmospheric gem throwback to a different era with all the requirements for today's customers. The food could not be faulted first time my husband hasn't had to season a meal. Would expect to pay a lot more for the care taken with the meal.

Always an amazing atmosphere I'm here, we love this pub it is just a feel good pub. It's always our first stop as soon as we get of the train when we visit Edinburgh. The decor is lovely the staff are so friendly. A must visit when you go to Edinburgh.

Are you looking for a fine pint of beer in the east end of Edinburgh, then look no further. This busy, traditional pub (between Waverley rail station and Edinburgh bus station) has a large, ever changing selection of draft beers. Warning: at busy times it is standing room only although it was almost completely empty tonight.

Very busy bar but staff were able to cope

Had the chowder which is the reason for my review, i have a pretty strong immune system however have been battling from good poisoning for the past 24 hours since eating from this bar - due to my experience I wouldn’t recommend the food but the latte was good, maybe should’ve just gotten a beer tho.

The staff were so good I loved the experience and the food. The liver was exquisite.

One of my favourite pubs in Edinburgh. Fantastic service despite being very busy. Plenty of bar staff and they couldn't be more attentive and friendly. If you are a tourist, you must visit here. It's a lot cheaper than elsewhere in Edinburgh.

Met friends for beers, excellent atmosphere and good service

Nicely atmospheric pub in the heart of Edinburgh. We were here on a Friday evening and it was at times very overcrowded. But all in all, the drinks were good and the staff friendly.

Busy pub good selection of beers and plenty seating.

We ordered as a snack the Chilli Beef Nachos. And true to it's description, it was frozen. A good portion however, was spoilt by the numpty in the kitchen who thought it was a great idea to load the chilled guacamole. salsa and sour cream over the hot beef chilli, rendering the experience inedible. We picked at the nachos, but left the rest. Told waiter and he replied would pass on to kitchen! Apart from our lousy food, good selection of beers and bar staff worked well.

Baltic ! I would normally post 5 stars. My friends and I have been fairly regular customers for a number of years. We are considering moving over the winter. The place was freezing.We moved away from the door but could feel cold from windows.Everyone had coats on apart from staff in shirt sleeves behind bar ! Secondary glazing and insulated between seating and outside wall required.

Had some drinks. Hadn't booked for food but a staff member promised to give us a shout when a table became free. He was true to his word and we popped up to a small dining area overlooking the bar. The decor is lovely. Old fashioned and full of character. We all had haggis, neeps & tatties and it was very tasty and pleased everyone.

Un chico francés encantador me sirvió bebidas un par de veces, era atento, amable y hablador. El chico pequeño de las escaleras donde comimos fue una experiencia menos agradable. Algo innecesario en su opinión, parsimonioso con los condimentos solicitados y, en general, su manera erizada y la falta de capacidad para ajustarse a las normas modernas de servicio al cliente me llevan a creer que puede no estar en el mejor trabajo para su personalidad. Quizás el guardia de seguridad sería mejor.

The ambiance was very nice. I tried chocolate and coffee beer. It was a little heavy but delicious. I definitely recommend you to try it.

Great pub with good beer selection and a great atmosphere. Had a bad experience recently where I booked a table upstairs for dinner only to find that the upstairs was closed and they wanted to put us in a dingy corner beside the toilets. Ended up walking out and going next door for a fantastic experience at Café Royal. It's always been great for drinks and I'll be back for that but I won't be booking a meal there again.

A nice Scottish pub! The pie was the best up to now in Edinburgh.

Went in for a couple of beers and an early lunch. A few steps from Princes Street behind Apple shop, this is a small old fashioned looking pub with a small first floor restaurant and is worth trying. Our food was good, fairly priced and the service was very good. Food is a touch above pub grub and is served in the bar as well as in the restaurant. If looking to book, it is not possible to book a table for later the same day. That aside a place that will be revisited.

Called in for a quick pint after a long day. Called last orders at 10:30. Ordered a couple of pints. At 11:05 the barmaid came over to our table and said they were closed and was going to clear the table, which she proceeded to do taking two full pints from me and my friend. Nice pub, but that's shocking service when 10-15 minutes drinking up time would have been appreciated. Plenty of options locally...

The steak and burger we had were great!

Visited twice for dinner. The meals were on two levels and I had steak pie once and haggis once and they were both delicious. The elegant interior design of the building, reminiscent of a Victorian pub, is as beautiful as the food, so be sure to stop by when you visit Calton Hill. The waiters are also friendly and humorous. As a token of my gratitude, I naturally felt like giving a tip, although it wasn't a lot of money. I will definitely go here again next time I'm in Edinburgh.

The Guildford Arms is among the best in Edinburgh. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They have a very good, well kept range of real ales and a good selection of wine. They serve very good food throughout the day and the choice is extensive.

Posto carino, molto centrale. Ha anche un ristorante al primo piano. Noi siamo andati sperando di mangiare al ristorante ma era pieno perciò ci siamo accomodati di sotto. Ci hanno servito velocemente e tutte le pietanze erano molto buone. Consiglio la visita.
